At the June 2014 CMA Music Festival, Hayes presented Sweet Sunday Singin’ with Amber Hayes and Friends, which was hosted by Philip Gibbons and sponsored by Gigi's Cupcakes and J. Alexander Home. In November 2014, Hayes released a 5-song EP, titled Running Out of Memories through GMV Nashville/A-OK Entertainment, which features Hayes’ rendition of "Cotton Eyed Joe," a remix of her previously released "Me & Loretta," as well as three additional songs that were produced by Bobby Terry.

Newsweek called the album "a bubblegum ode to modern culture" that includes "blunt statements on politics", "a blatant Trump mention", and "deep, eerie and melancholy messages and images" that "defines" the duo "as something larger than pop as we know it". Highsnobiety called the album "delicious" and "even juicier than you could have imagined". Billboard said the album features "the duo combining their danceable sound with sociopolitical themes, such as women's reproductive rights, LGBT rights and substance abuse", highlighting the line "These days got me in a slump/ White women voted for Trump" in "A-OK (Everything's Perfect)". Paper called the song "Pretty" a "dark, contemptuous take on the ennui of living in a female body", saying it "feels refreshing and rebellious".

In 2012, Hayes' music ("C'mon", "Right As Rain", "Always There For Me") appeared in the major motion picture and soundtrack for Cowgirls 'n Angels, which starred Bailee Madison, James Cromwell, Frankie Faison, among others. In addition to Hayes' music being featured in the movie, she had a minor part in the film, dueting with Lonestar's Richie McDonald during one the scenes. Also in 2012, Hayes' music "Wait", "C'mon", "Easy on Me" and "Right As Rain" appeared in the CW Network's Hart of Dixie which stars Rachel Bilson and Scott Porter. On October 22, 2012 Hayes released Any Day Is A Good Day on GMV Nashville and A-OK Entertainment. In January 2013, Billboard magazine's "The 615" named Hayes an "Artist to Watch" in 2013.

He served as mission commentator for the six manned Mercury flights, introducing "A-OK" into the American vocabulary to signify procedures during the missions had proceeded as planned. He claimed astronaut Alan Shepard first used the expression during his Freedom 7 flight, but communication transcripts later showed he had not. In his 1979 book The Right Stuff, Tom Wolfe wrote that Powers had borrowed it "from NASA engineers who used it during radio transmission tests because the sharper sound of A cut through the static better than O". Powers enjoyed the limelight, and was accused of scheduling news conferences so he could appear live on national television and occasionally twisting the facts. For example, he told reporters the day before Gus Grissom's flight that the astronaut had gone fishing that day and had cooked and eaten his catch, which would have violated his pre- flight diet.

As well as a succession of singles and EPs, the band released four LPs over nine months, starting in May 1963: Surfin' with The Astronauts – which reached # 61 on the Billboard 200 album chart – Everything Is A-OK! (recorded live at the Club Baja in Denver, Colorado), Competition Coupe, and The Astronauts Orbit Campus (recorded live in Boulder). They appeared several times on the Hullabaloo TV show, and have the distinction of appearing in more beach party movies than any other surf band: Surf Party, Wild on the Beach, Wild Wild Winter and Out of Sight. Prior to releasing on Yer Bird, Garcia had both self-released (The Blue Howl of 4 am (2003), Sheep & Wolf (2004)) and worked with notable Midwest labels Supermedic Records (5 Songs (2002)) and Abandoned Scout Camp (Great Distance, (2003)). To help promote an expansion of the website Yer Bird hosted a free digital download of Sounds Like Fall's Early Recordings which was a collection of home recordings prior to the sessions for The Wolf is at the Door. In July 2006, Philadelphia songwriter Hezekiah Jones' (Raphael Cutrufello of StillWillis) first album, Hezekiah Jones Says You're A-Ok, was released. Released in 2007 was a compilation album entitled Folk Music for the End of the World which features tracks by notable songwriters Matthew Ryan, J. Tillman, Hayden, The Hotel Ghost (who would go on perform as Cold Specks), as well as other songwriters, with a cover painted by Kathleen Lolley (My Morning Jacket's Z). Following that release, in April, Yer Bird released J. Tillman's fourth full-length album entitled Cancer and Delirium.
