When British Railways introduced new shed codes in 1950, Exeter-based locomotives carried an oval cast plate with the code '83C'. The last locomotives based here were sent elsewhere from 14 October 1963, but the shed area was kept as a fueling and stabling point for locomotives and diesel multiple units (DMUs) working in the area. From 29 December 1976 it was recognised as a depot again, even though no locomotives were allocated there at the time, and given a new code 'EX'. The shed was used for many years without a roof, but in 1980 a new covered maintenance area was built.

However as of January 2018, the project has yet to begin due to a dispute between the LCSD and the Yuen Long District Council over the East Stand. While the LCSD submitted plans which included a rebuilt West Stand, it did not include plans to provide a roof over the East Stand. The District Council have insisted that they will not approve any plans without a roof over the East Stand. In September 2019, plans to build a roof over the East Stand were finally approved and redevelopment of the stadium is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The place contains four separate groups of structural foundations in addition to a number of breached weirs along Bulluburrah Creek. A group of concrete foundations and engine mounts on the west side of the Wolfram road form the remains of the Irvinebank Company mill powerhouse and molybdenite tower. Opposite, on the eastern side of the road, a series of terraced building surfaces retained by heavy dry stone walls, formed the foundations of the Thermo Electric Ore Reduction Corporation's store and office. A feature of this group is the form-cast concrete walls of the office, which remain in good condition, though without a roof.

Founded in part by former curbstone brokers, the Open Board of Stock Brokers was an early regional stock exchange established in 1864, which merged with the NYSE in 1869. After the Open Board joined the Consolidated Exchange, Open Board members specializing in unlisted stocks were left without "a roof over their heads and took to meeting casually in the course of the day in convenient lobbies in the [financial] district." The brokers were ousted by a number of buildings as their numbers grew, until they ended up in front of the Mills Building entrance on Broad Street.

The arena was opened on 17 September 1963, with a game between the national basketball teams of Israel and Yugoslavia, in which the latter won, by a score of 69–64. In its early years, the arena held a capacity of 5,000 spectators, with just concrete stands, without any seats, and without a roof. In 1972, a second floor of tiers was built, increasing the capacity to 10,000 spectators. The concrete stands were covered by seats, and the arena was covered with a roof. Betty's Hope is no longer operational as a plantation. However, the structures pictured here at the time of restoration works initiated by the Government of Antigua in 1990, under the OEC/ESDU Eco-Tourism Enhancement project, consisted of the twin windmills, the Cistern Complex in serviceable condition, the Great House (Buff or Estate House) in ruins, the Boiling House where sixteen copper hoppers were used to boil cane juice to produce crystalline sugar, and the Still House, a distillery used for manufacturing rum (also seen in ruins without a roof but with elegant arches). Since 1995, the buildings have been developed as an open-air museum with a visitor center and are managed by the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda.

Pinnangudi is a tiny village in Illuppur taluk of Pudukkottai district of Tamil Nadu in India. The village is known for Sthamba Maha Ganapathi temple, which is a unique idol of the Indian God Ganesha on a pillar beside Durga Devi. It is a temple without a roof as it is believed that the Lord of the temple desired that no roof be built. The village also has a Siva temple of Sri Pungavaneswarar and Sri Soundaryanayaki. Sri Sthamba Maha Ganapathi The history of Pinnangudi village dates back to 8th century AD. The earliest mention of the village and the Siva temple of Sri Pungavaneswarar is in the Kudumiyanmalai inscription of the 8th century AD during the reign of the Pandiya King Sadaiyan Maran (700–730 AD).

According to the account of the historian Valentyn, the first reference to a church in Galkissa is in 1705 where it mentions about a church, roofed with tiles and built upon 10 masonry and 20 stone pillars with a wall of clay 3½ft high. The stone pillars which had used for the church are said to be brought from a temple at Pepiliyana. In 1803, during the British rule it is said that there was a church in Galkissa without a roof but with supporting pillars. At that time the country residence of Governor Sir Robert Brownrigg was with the proximity of the Church at Mount-Lavinia and he (the governor) evinced a personal interest to restore the church again in 1820.

Since university is less affordable for the average Indian than it is for the average North American or European citizen due to their lower per capita income level, more people in India are becoming unemployable for the jobs of the 21st century. The average per capita income for a citizen of India is barely more than US$1,200; compared to US$54,510 in Canada and more than US$64,800 in Switzerland. Policymakers attribute the following factors as the main causes of homelessness: drug abuse, mental illness, relationship failures, and domestic abuse. These place responsibility and blame directly on the homeless. Policies related to ‘deinstitutionalization of care for mentally ill people and subsequent abandonment of a family member with mental illness by the family’ have also increased the number of people living without a roof over their heads.

Because of its enormous scale, the Bishop Ring would not need to be enclosed like the Stanford torus: it could be built without a "roof", with the atmosphere retained by artificial gravity and atmosphere retention walls some 200 km (120 mi) in height. The habitat would be oriented with its axis of rotation perpendicular to the plane of its orbit, with either an arrangement of mirrors to reflect sunlight onto the inner rim or an artificial light source in the middle, powered by a combination of solar panels on the outer rim and solar power satellites.
