Likewise, friendship and justice are useful because of the pleasure they provide. Thus the Cyrenaics believed in the hedonistic value of social obligation and altruistic behavior. Like many of the leading modern utilitarians, they combined with their psychological distrust of popular judgments of right and wrong, and their firm conviction that all such distinctions are based solely on law and convention, the equally unwavering principle that the wise person who would pursue pleasure logically must abstain from that which is usually thought wrong or unjust. This idea, which occupies a prominent position in systems like those of Jeremy Bentham, Volney, and even William Paley, was clearly of prime importance to the Cyrenaics.

Here Venu Gopal Rao loses his cool and starts revealing his past, he is brought up by a wise person (Gummadi) who has two daughters Shanta & Sarada when he approaches Venu to marry his daughter when he assumes it as Sarada, as the two are in love with each other. Later Sarada realizes Shanta too admires Venu, so, she sacrifices her love and complies him to marry Shanta. Soon after the marriage, the couple leaves for a job to Rangoon. As it is the time period is WW II, during a bombing raid, Venu assumes Shanta is dead, so, gets back to India when Shanta's father discovers the love affair of Venu & Sarada and performs their marriage.

Antisthenes was a pupil of Socrates, from whom he imbibed the fundamental ethical precept that virtue, not pleasure, is the end of existence. Everything that the wise person does, Antisthenes said, conforms to perfect virtue, and pleasure is not only unnecessary, but a positive evil. He is reported to have held painJulian, Oration, 6.181b and even ill-repute () to be blessings, and said that "I'd rather be mad than feel pleasure". It is, however, probable that he did not consider all pleasure worthless, but only that which results from the gratification of sensual or artificial desires, for we find him praising the pleasures which spring "from out of one's soul,"Xenophon, Symposium, iv. 41.

In 1955 he won the National Prize of Theatre for La Ferida Luminosa, whose version in Spanish was made by José María Pemán. In the last years of life he was a member of the Institute of Catalan Studies, the Academy of the Good Letters, General Council of Authors of Spain and the Board of the Big Cross of Alfonso X the Wise person. After a long illness, he died in Barcelona on September 27, 1961, and was laid to rest on the Cemetery of Montjuïc. A good part of his works have been translated to several languages and some have been adapted to the cinema (El cafè de la Marina and La herida luminosa).

As this practice became more and more common, the adaption of "like cures like" was used to determine the treatment for various ailments. For example, parts of the head was used to treat issues relating to the head and eyes of dead people were collected and used to treat Ophthalmological issues. Blood, specifically, soon evolved to be seen as a substantial elixir, especially fresh, warm human blood because it was believed to still possess the soul of the deceased. For example, it was believed that drinking the blood of a strong person or a wise person would result in increase of strength or wisdom, respectively, because once ingested, the spirit of the deceased connects with that of the consumer and lends it its power.

In 1961 members of a team led by Nicolae Vlassa, an archaeologist at the National Museum of Transylvanian History, Cluj-Napoca in charge of the site excavations, are reported to have unearthed three inscribed but unfired clay tablets, together with 26 clay and stone figurines and a shell bracelet, accompanied by the burnt, broken, and disarticulated bones of an adult female sometimes referred to as "Milady Tărtăria". There is no consensus on the interpretation of the burial, but it has been suggested that the body was, if not that of a shaman or spirit-medium, that of a local most respected wise person. There have been disputes as to whether the tablets were actually found at the site and Vlassa was never willing to discuss the circumstances of the find or the stratigraphy.

51–52 Another Greek expressed a form of pessimism in his philosophy: the ancient Cyrenaic philosopher Hegesias (290 BCE). Like later pessimists, Hegesias argued that lasting happiness is impossible to achieve and that all we can do is to try to avoid pain as much as possible. > Complete happiness cannot possibly exist; for that the body is full of many > sensations, and that the mind sympathizes with the body, and is troubled > when that is troubled, and also that fortune prevents many things which we > cherished in anticipation; so that for all these reasons, perfect happiness > eludes our grasp. In the past it flowered in this district the crop of vineyards, as it is recorded in the instrument of 1258 by which the knights of Álava yielded to the king Alfonso X the Wise person the small villages called old . As it states by a disposal dated in Boroughs on 13 May 1286, the king Sancho IV of Castilla donated it to Vitoria. In this place the flat state of Álava used to celebrate his boards after the dissolution of the Confrerie of Arriaga and incorporation of Álava to Castilla in 1332.

God acquired her before all else, and through her he gave order to chaos ("When [God] established the heavens… when he drew a circle on then face of the Deeps… when he marked out the foundations of the earth, then I was beside him" – Proverbs 8:27–31). Since humans have life and prosperity by conforming to the order of creation, seeking wisdom is the essence and goal of the religious life. Wisdom, or the wise person, is compared and contrasted with foolishness or the fool, meaning one who is lacking in wisdom and uninterested in instruction, not one who is merely silly or playful (though see the words of Agur for a "fool" who has wisdom, and could be seen as playful). For the most part Proverbs offers a simplistic view of life with few grey areas: life lived according to the rules brings reward, life in violation of them is certain to bring disaster.

His works have earned high praise, including that of Dr. Gonçalves Viana who appreciated his work The Influence of Portuguese Vocables in Asian Languages and said that perhaps no other wise person, Portuguese or foreign, could carry it out satisfactorily.
