Ripe bignay fruit Antidesma bunius is a species of fruit tree in the family Phyllanthaceae. It is native to Southeast Asia and northern Australia. Its common Philippine name and other names include bignay, bugnay or bignai, Chinese-laurel, Queensland-cherry, salamander-tree, wild cherry, and currant tree. This is a variable plant which may be short and shrubby or tall and erect, approaching 30 metres in height.

Many New England households grew indigo, which allowed wool to be dyed in various shades of blue. Being adjacent to woodland, plants of the woodland varieties grow along the fields edges, such as barren strawberry, wood spurge and wood avens, with various ferns. The woodland trees include oak, wild cherry and field maple. Hazel, hawthorn, blackthorn, dog rose, bramble, goat willow and ash form hedges between the reserve and the road. Bird life in the woodland edge includes nuthatch, chiffchaff and blackcap.

Hangman's Wood and Deneholes is a 3 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Little Thurrock in Essex. The deneholes, which were created by medieval chalk mining, are a Scheduled Monument. The name Hangmans Wood dates back to at least the mid 17th century when it was recorded on an estate map. Trees in the wood include oak, ash, sycamore and wild cherry.

Groton Wood is a 20.2 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-east of Groton in Suffolk. It is owned and managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust. Fifteen species of butterfly have been recorded in this wood, including brimstones, speckled woods and purple hairstreaks. There are many wild cherry trees, and twenty-two seasonal ponds, which have scarce and protected great crested newts.

They recorded the hit "Play That Funky Music" that same year. Bassett plays the recognizable guitar figure that introduces the song.

The main symptom of Dibotryon morbosum is its “knot-like” gall structure. These swellings often start as green in color, and become black the next season.

Farthings Wood is an ancient replanted woodland near Little Missenden in the English county of Buckinghamshire. The predominant tree species in the wood is Corsican pine, interspersed with beech, wild cherry, rowan, ash, silver birch, downy birch and sycamore. There are also Scots pine trees in the southern section of the wood, and hornbeam, oak and hawthorn around the boundaries of the wood. The shrub layer consists of a number of different species.

The underlying geology is a mixture of sand and gravel banks and clay soils, producing a mix of habitat types, including wet fen type habitats at lower levels and dry grasslands on acidic soils on hill tops. It is one of only two known areas of ancient woodland in Eastern England which feature wild cherry (Prunus avium). Badgers are found on the reserve in a number of active setts. Other rare fauna include the hazel dormouse and barbastelle bat.

Residents objected that it fell within the Watling Chase Community Forest and the Green Belt, and that it should therefore be preserved for wildlife. The council agreed, and in 1998 Fisher's Field became an LNR. There are areas of woodland, with trees including oak, rowan and wild cherry, and a wildflower meadow and scrub with bramble, raspberry and willow herb. Animals include green woodpecker, shrews and bees. The Friends of Fisher’s Field assist the council in maintaining and improving the site.

Flickers also eat berries and seeds, especially in winter, including poison oak and poison ivy, dogwood, sumac, wild cherry, grape, bayberries, hackberries, and elderberries, as well as sunflower and thistle seeds. Flickers often break into underground ant colonies to get at the nutritious larvae there, hammering at the soil the way other woodpeckers drill into wood. They have been observed breaking up cow dung to eat insects living within. Their tongues can dart out beyond the end of the bill to catch prey.

The West Bank has several patches of fly orchid and white helleborine in the scrub and woodland edges. Some particularly good examples of the many large beech trees on the reserve can be seen in this section. Potters Wood contains native broad leaved trees - oak, ash, beech, birch and wild cherry - and some sweet chestnut coppice managed by traditional methods. The southern part of the wood is on the chalk and has the remnants of many large beech trees which fell during the storm of October 1987.

Pedunculate oak is the main canopy tree, together with sessile oak, hornbeam and wild cherry. It also contains an unusually large population of wild service trees, while the undergrowth is dominated by bramble and ivy, with many bluebells. Breeding birds include tawny owl, nuthatch and treecreeper. At the Temple fortune Hill entrance to Big Wood there is a new gate donated by local people as a memorial to 29 Garden Suburb residents who died in World War II. It stands on an ancient eighth century boundary.

Over 20,000 trees have been planted at the site including oak, ash, silver birch, wild cherry and crab apple. Five hectares of land has been seeded to create an area of open grassland. The Kent County Agricultural Society has a plot in the wood where it has planted 1,200 specifically Kent-grown trees, including oak, ash, hornbeam and crab apple. In 2009, EDF Energy replaced an overhead electricity cable running through the park with underground cabling to help restore the natural look of the area.

Its buds, leaves and seeds are consumed by the golden snub-nosed monkey (Rhinopithecus roxellana).

The Village Theatre Cherry Hill, settled in 1825, was an early crossroads hamlet in Canton Township. The town was originally called "Ridge" (also the origin of "Ridge Road") due to its position atop the ridge shore of an ancient lake. The first area church, the Cherry Hill United Methodist Church, was built in the village in 1834. In approximately 1865, Abner Hitchcock constructed an inn in the village, naming it the "Cherry Hill House" in reference to the wild cherry trees growing in the area.

None of Wild Cherry's 3 subsequent albums were very popular. Neither Electrified Funk (1977) (which contained the "Play That Funky Music" soundalike single "Baby Don't You Know") nor I Love My Music (1978) produced any top 20 hits, and Only the Wild Survive (1979) did not even produce a top 100 single. The band broke up in late 1979. Coogie Stoddart returned to perform with Wild Cherry beginning with the tour to support Electrified Funk and recorded I Love My Music with the band.

Even undergrowth plants can appear on this territory, including Malus florentina, Sorbus torminalis, medlar, hazelnuts and white alder. In the groves there are downy oak, hornbeam, sessile oak, english oak, European hornbeam, Italian alder, wild cherry, hawthorn, privets and cornel, along with the rare Malus florentina. In the reserve there are numerous small rivers along which dogwoods, aspens, black poplar and willows grow. The areas used for agricultural purposes that can be found in the reserve contain some downy oaks which are over one hundred years old.

Within the heathland areas, the predominant community types are Calluna vulgaris (common heather)–Deschampsia flexuosa (wavy hair grass) (H9) and heather–Ulex gallii (western gorse) (H8). Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) is also widespread, with some patches of bracken (Pteridium aquilinum), and less frequently bell heather (Erica cinerea), cross leaved heath (Erica tetralix) and broom (Cytisus scoparius). The woodland is dominated by silver birch, with aspen, holly, rowan, sessile oak and wild cherry also present. The undergrowth includes heather and bilberry, with patches of broad buckler-fern (Dryopteris dilatata).

The flowers are produced in racemose clusters of two to five together at nodes on short spurs in spring at the same time as the new leaves appear; they are white to pink, with five petals in the wild type tree. The fruit of the prunus serrulate/Japanese Sakura, the Sakuranbo, has differences to the prunus avium/wild cherry, in that sakuranbo are smaller in size and are bitter in taste to the wild cherry; the sakuranbo is a globose black fruit- drupe 8–10mm in diameter. Owing to their bitter taste, the sakuranbo should not be eaten raw, or whole; the seed inside should be removed and the fruit- itself processed as preserves. Because of its evolution, the fruit of the prunus serrulate/Japanese Sakura, the Sakuranbo, developed merely as a small, ovoid cherry-like fruit, but it is not more developed as a small amount of fleshy mass around the seed within; as the prunus serrulate/Japanese Sakura was bred for its flowers, the tree does not go beyond going through the initial motions of developing fruits but they will not ripen and will be incomplete, not producing more flesh surrounding the seed.

This five-and-a-half hectare site is part of an internationally important yew woodland complex. The steep chalky slopes of the central part of the wood are occupied by a dense stand of yew overtopped in places by mature ash and beech, with some field maple, wild cherry and oak. Some of the beech trees are fine specimens whilst others have died and provide important dead wood habitat for many insects and fungi. A large section in the centre of the reserve was flattened by the October 1987 storm.

Blanz left in mid-1991, Phil McCormack stood in for Brown briefly in early 1992 and by 1993 the lineup was: Brown, Ingram, Erik Lundgren (guitar, from Johnny Van Zant's band), Mac Crawford (drums) and a returning Banner Thomas (bass), with Mike Kach (keyboards), who was replaced in 1994 by Andy Orth. Bryan Bassett (ex-Wild Cherry) took over as second guitarist in 1994 and Buzzy Meekins (formerly of the Outlaws) was bassist after Banner left again in 1995.

Following the purchase of the forest land by the Forestry Commission, it was subjected to restrictions and restructuring of the forest vegetation, and reduction of the area. Sequential planting occurred, including Douglas fir, Norway spruce, western hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla), European beech, Scots pine, European larch and silver birch (Betula pendula Roth). As of 1995, Faskally Woods has 23 species of trees comprising an assemblage of "conifers and broad leaves" vegetation such as Douglas fir, silver firs, wild cherry, and oak. The trees are of various sizes, and some are more than 100 years old.

A branch of Islais Creek (named after the wild cherry islay Gudde found old documents that establish that Islais Creek was originally named after the islay shrub, despite the paucity of islay in this region in recent times.) originates in the canyon. It is the largest remaining creek in San Francisco with public access. The bottom of the canyon, where Islais Creek flows, is irregular but moderate in slope, dropping 350 feet (107 m) over a distance of about 1 mile (1.6 kilometer). The Cherry Hill facility was located at the corner of Cherry Hill and Ridge Roads in the village of Cherry Hill, Michigan. Cherry Hill (originally known as "Ridge") was settled in 1825, The Cherry Hill United Methodist Church was built in 1834; in approximately 1865, Abner Hitchcock constructed an inn in the village, naming it the "Cherry Hill House" in reference to the wild cherry trees growing in the area. Calf Island, also known as Apthorps Island, is a windswept island situated some offshore of downtown Boston in the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area. The island has a permanent size of , plus an intertidal zone of a further , and has a thin layer of soil that supports vegetation including wild cherry, beach plum, grasses, chives, and mock orange. Access is by private boat only. In the 17th century the island was granted to William Brewster of Plymouth Colony, after whom the adjacent islands of Great Brewster, Little Brewster, Middle Brewster and Outer Brewster are named.

In the south eastern part of the site is an extensive area of wild cherry (Prunus avium) and ash with a hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) and hazel understorey. The variety of soils give rise to a similarly diverse ground flora which includes bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta), great butterfly orchid (Platanthera chlorantha) and common spotted-orchid (Dactylorhiza fuchsii), stinking iris (Iris foetidissima) and spurge laurel (Daphne laureola). The woods have a rich fauna which includes fallow deer (Dama dama). They provide an excellent habitat for birds that breed in woodland such as buzzard (Buteo buteo), great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) and tree creeper (Certhia familiaris).

The forest borders a large ridge which separates the Varenne in the SW from the Béthune in the NE; it is a small limestone plateau, varying in altitude between 130 and 230 metres, descending in a convex slope to the Varenne. Although the forest is not crossed by any watercourse, the flint clay which covers the limestone retains a fair amount of moisture. Previously an oak plantation, it was transformed into a beech grove in the 19th century by the forestry workers. Thus it now mainly comprises beeches (Fagus sylvatica); there are also some oaks, hornbeams, ashes, wild cherry and sycamore maples.

Detling Hill is a hill forming part of the North Downs in Kent, north-east of Maidstone, and is situated in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The typical southern escarpment of the North Downs is found here, and produces dramatic views over the Low Weald. The North Downs Way passes along the hill just south of the summit. The area around the summit has recently become the White Horse Wood, where over 20,000 trees (oak, ash, silver birch, wild cherry and crab apple) have been planted, and five hectares have been seeded to create an area of open grassland.

In the extreme south is the southern deciduous forest region, a vegetation cover shared by Denmark and central Europe. The dominant tree here is the beech, but oak can also form smaller forests. Elm at one time formed forests, but has been much reduced by Dutch elm disease. Other important trees and shrubs in this zone include hornbeam, elder, hazel, fly honeysuckle, linden (lime), spindle, yew, alder buckthorn, blackthorn, aspen, European rowan, Swedish whitebeam, juniper, European holly, ivy, dogwood, goat willow, larch, bird cherry, wild cherry, maple, ash, alder along creeks, and in sandy soil birch compete with pine.

The felled areas were fenced and planted with a mixture of oak, hornbeam and wild cherry with the anticipation that this would be supplemented by natural regeneration of ash, beech, birch and a few Scots pine. The extent of the felling caused considerable local concern at the loss of beautiful mature trees that were significant landscape features and provided old wood habitat for bats and birds such as nuthatch. The benefits included opening views of the estuary and Lakeland Fells that had been lost for a hundred years and the opportunity to create more diverse, natural woodland with a high proportion of native species.

The site has grassland and scrub, which support interesting breeding birds and invertebrates, such as glow-worms and marbled white and chalkhill blue butterflies. There are areas of mature beech woodland, with a sparse shrub layer of holly and elder, and a ground layer of wood sorrel, woodruff, broad helleborine and tufted hairgrass. Further down the slope there is mixed woodland of recent origin where the beech trees are associated with a variety of other trees and shrubs including yew, ash, whitebeam and wild cherry, blackthorn, hawthorn and purging buckthorn. Several orchids can be found here including white helleborine, narrow-lipped helleborine, yellow bird's-nest orchid and bird's-nest orchid.

"Play That Funky Music" is a song written by Rob Parissi and recorded by the band Wild Cherry. The single was the first released by the Cleveland-based Sweet City record label in April 1976 and distributed by Epic Records. The performers on the recording included lead singer Parissi, electric guitarist Bryan Bassett, bassist Allen Wentz, and drummer Ron Beitle, with session players Chuck Berginc, Jack Brndiar (trumpets), and Joe Eckert and Rick Singer (saxes) on the horn riff that runs throughout the song's verses. The single hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 18, 1976; it was also number one on the Hot Soul Singles chart.

Natural heritage Flisk Wood on the southern shore of the Inner Tay Estuary is a linear woodland between Balmerino in the east and Flisk Point in the west. At 63.4 hectares, Flisk Wood is the largest and least disturbed area of mixed deciduous woodland in Fife. It includes the most extensive stand of ash-elm woodland in north-east Fife and the tree canopy is complemented with sycamore, sessile oak, wild cherry and willow. On more leached, acidic soils in the western section, pedunculate oak replaces sessile oak.

The native Lenni-Lenape, who inhabited the island centuries before the arrival of the Dutch, reportedly dubbed Staten Island Aquehonga Monocknong or "the place of bad woods" perhaps because of the spirits they believed dwelled there. Then, as today, the boulder-littered moraines were covered with many species of trees: oak, hickory, maple, beech, as well as lesser quantities of birch, sweet gum, ash, black walnut, wild cherry, and tulip. Below the canopy of this sub-climax forest grew dogwood, ironwood, spicebush, blackberry, wild grape, Virginia creeper, and sassafras, along with royal and cinnamon ferns, skunk cabbage, lady slipper, and trout lilies in the wetter areas. Within the oak-mulch enriched soil that has been laid down over millennia, arrowheads have been found.

The "classic" lineup of the band consisting of Walsh, Peters and Fox first reunited in July 1991 at Nautica Pavilion in Cleveland when Fox and Peters took to the stage during a Walsh concert to play three songs. The trio then gathered together again to perform at an election rally for President Bill Clinton at the Cleveland State University Convocation Center on November 4, 1996. They also appeared on The Drew Carey Show in the 1998-99 season and at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Allen Theater in Cleveland for three shows in February 2001, joined by keyboardist Mark Avsec (ex-Wild Cherry and Donnie Iris & the Cruisers). And in the summer of 2005, the group performed another handful of shows (joined again by Avsec) in the Cleveland area.

This new product formulation reduces the sodium content by 10 mg compared to the previous Pepsi Throwback product and 1 g less sugar in 20 fl oz (591 mL) bottles, reducing the labelled calorie count from 260 to 250. PepsiCo will also be making available two additional flavours for a limited time only, marketed as "Pepsi-Cola Wild Cherry Made with Real Sugar" and "Pepsi-Cola Vanilla Made with Real Sugar". In addition to being sold in 20 fl oz (591 mL) bottles and 12 fl oz (355 mL) cans, PepsiCo is expanding the product line to their new 7.5 fl oz (222 mL) mini cans and 12 fl oz (355 mL) glass bottles.

Among the flora of Sherani one may find hundreds of species of some pretty exotic plants. The principal trees are tamarisk (ghaz in Pashto, gazg in Balochi), also called salt cedar, pistachios, juniper (obashta in Pashto), wild olive (also mentioned in the Quran as well as in the Old Testament; its Pashto name is Show-one, while in Urdu and Arabic it is called zeethoon), pine nut, wild ash and wild almond. There are also a wide range of shrubs, including spalmai (Pashto) (Calotropis gigantea), buska (Pashto) (Lepidium draba), khamazorai (Pashto) (Withania coagulans), bitter- apple (maraghunai in Pashto, Citrullus colocynthis), pushai (Rheum australe, syn. R. emodi), shinshobae (Mentha sylvestris), makhai (Caragana), harmal (spawnday in Pashto, Peganum harmala), wild fig, barberry, wild cherry, and such herbs as Oman (Pashto; Ephedra intermedia).

In contrast to the region to the north and south, which is more slant, this area is referred to as plain, although it has relief very different from that of a flatland, and vegetation different from that of the steppe. Geology of Moldova The hills of central Moldova are divided into the Ciulucuri Hills and the Codri Plateau, at an average elevation of about , are ridges interlaced by deep, flat valleys, ravines, and landslide-scoured depressions. Steep forest-clad slopes account for much of the terrain, where the most common trees are hornbeam, oak, linden, maple, wild pear, and wild cherry. The term codri refers more generally to forests, yet since in Moldova most of them were preserved in the central part, Codri sometimes can colloquially refer to the remaining forests in the hills west and north of Chişinău.

Mount Cook Buttercups with Lake Hooker in the background More than 400 species of plants make up the vegetation in Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, which include more than 100 introduced plant species such as the colourful Russell lupin, the wild cherry and wilding pines. Under normal circumstances, forest grows to about 1,300 m, however, most parts of the park are either at higher altitudes above the tree line or in the proglacial valleys such as the Hooker Valley and Tasman Valley, where the rocky soil of the valley floors and moraine walls do not support forest growth. As a result, the only pockets of forest and native bush in the park are along the southern edge of the Hooker Valley and the lower slopes of Sealy Range. The plant life in the majority of the park consists mostly of alpine plants.

The band released their first two studio albums, their self-titled debut and Struck Down, through London Records in 1976 and 1978 respectively. As Meniketti has said in numerous radio, television, and magazine interviews over the past four decades, a new record deal in 1980 with A&M; Records prompted the band to shorten their moniker to simply Y&T;, as influenced by their encores where fans would chant "Y&T;, Y&T;, Y&T.;" The band's first three studio albums under A&M;, Earthshaker, released in 1981, Black Tiger, released in 1982, and Mean Streak, released in 1983, did not gain mainstream exposure, but are regarded by fans and music critics alike as some of the band's best work.

He has published poetry collections Baramui seojjok (바람의 서쪽 West of the Wind) (1998), Sanbeotnamu-ui jeonyeok (산벚나무의 저녁 The Evening of the Wild Cherry Tree) (2003), Mureup wiui jajaknamu (무릎 위의 자작나무 The Birch Tree On Top of the Knees) (2008), and Biyu-ui bakkat (비유의 바깥 The Metaphor's Outside) (Munhakdongne); as well as children's books Noru samchon (노루 삼촌 Deer Uncle) (2002), Nappeunnyeoseok (나쁜녀석 The Bad Guy) (2003), Huin jwi i-yagi (흰 쥐 이야기 The Story of a White Mouse) (2006), Jinri-ui kkotdabal beobguyeong (진리의 꽃다발 법구경) (2006), Choego-unjeon (최고운전 Best Driving) (2006), Choecheokjeon (최척전) (2008) and Bok tareo gan chonggak (복 타러 간 총각 A Man Who Went To Be Lucky) (2013). Currently he is working as a creative writing professor at Sunchon National University. He won the Baeksok Prize for Literature in 2016.

Within the community there are several fruit species as a fig tree, wild cherry, pear, apple, sapodilla, Granada, apricot, hawthorn, walnut and peach, also some herbs like camphor, eucalyptus, pitch pine, peppermint, feverfew, basil, arnica, orange, rue, dandelion, mugwort, rosemary, horehound, chamomile, peppermint, lemongrass, aloe, tepozán, datura, melissa, mullein, and chicalote; edible plants such as pigweed, Montagu, purslane, truck, alfalfa, nopal, ortiguilla, goatee, poor women and maguey (the latter was an industry in the community). Agriculture is especially based on corn, beans, wheat, barley, tomatoes, squash, among other vegetables and marigold flower temporarily. Finally, note that the individual trees in the region are pirúl and huizache, whose importance goes back to pre-Hispanic times. San Francisco Acuautla, people of culture, history and tradition, is named after the first settlers, who on reaching the passage between the pre-Hispanic communities Coatepec and Ixtapaluca found a vast territory of great forests and a large amount of water running through the rivers supplying this place.

In the east/northeast, where the humidity and temperature are high, pinus patula predominates the top tier. In contrast, at lower altitude and with the same exposure, you can find Cornus disciflora, Garrya laurifolia, Mexican Clethra, and ferns in the lowest layer. In this exposition, where humidity is low and temperature is high, the Chinese ocote (leiophylla pinus) dominates. In the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, in the Malintzin and Citlaltépetl volcanoes, between 2500 and 3000 meters above sea level, the arboreal layer above 32m is dominated by the red torch pine (pinus patula), fir (Abies religiosa), ocote brush (michoacana pinus) and ayacahuite (pinus ayacahuite); in the 10m layer you can find laurelillo (Quercus Laurina), milkweed (Quercus crassifolia) and madrone (Arbutus glandulosa); in the 4.5m layer you can find salix paradoxa, brush (Eupatorium glabratum), wild cherry (prunus capuli), alder (Alnus jorullensis), and strawberry trees (Arbutus glandulosa); in the 0.5m layer you find conferta baccharis, sage (Salvia sp.), topozán (buddleia cordata), grass (Bromus sp.) and fern (Adiantum capillus-veneris).
