The cover image of Sarah O'Hare was shot by Antoine Verglas who photographed Gair's 1999 bodypaintings for the Swimsuit Issue. The book includes images produced in Gair's earlier efforts for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue from 1999–2007. It also includes several behind- the-scenes images not include in the magazine.

Fleder, pp. various Verglas again photographed the bodypainting for the 2008 Swimsuit Issue. No body painting pictures have been chosen as the exclusive main image on the cover of the Swimsuit Issue. However, in the 2005 Swimsuit Issue in which Carolyn Murphy is the cover model, Jessica White was shown as an inset on the cover in a Miami Dolphins jersey body painting by Gair.

Delcourt published Sattouf's first book Petit Verglas based on a story line by Éric Corbeyran. In a unique personal and humorous style, he narrated his own adolescent life observations in Manuel du puceau and Ma Circoncision published by Bréal Jeunesse Publishing House owned by Joann Sfar. The books were later reprinted by L'Association Publishing House. In Ma circoncision, he denounced circumcision as a cruel and absurd act, superimposed on the context of the socio-political life in his ancestral Syria in the 1980s.

The Coventry Stakes winner Verglas started favourite, while the other seven runners included Ocean Ridge (Prix Robert Papin), Azra (Silver Flash Stakes) and Raphane (Curragh Stakes). Manning was aboard Azra, the Bolger stable's more fancied runner, and so the ride on Mantovani went to Conor Everard. After racing just behind the leaders Mantovani "squeezed" though a gap along the inside rail a furlong out, took the lead and kept on well to win by two lengths from the British challenger Muchea. Jim Bolger commented I knew he would handle the ground.

Red Crater last erupted ash in 1926 and contains active fumaroles. There are many explosion craters on the massif; water has filled some of these to form the Blue Lake and the Emerald Lakes. The high altitude and severe alpine climate between March and October cause snowfall in the winter (there are commercial ski-fields at neighbouring Mount Ruapehu) and rain can freeze, causing verglas; in contrast in the mid to late summer, the mountains can be bare apart from remnant patches of snow in south- facing gullies. Unlike nearby Mt. Ruapehu, no glaciers exist on Tongariro today.

In the 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, when she painted bathing suits on Quiana Grant, Jessica Gomes, Marisa Miller, and Tori Praver, the average sitting time for the subjects/objects was thirteen hours. The photographers in 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2004 were respectively Antoine Verglas, James Porto, Michael Zeppetello and Steven White for the Swimsuit Issue works. From 2005–2007 Gair took the photographs of her body paintings herself.

Many easy scrambles in good weather become serious climbs if the weather deteriorates. Black ice or verglas is a particular problem in cold weather, and mist or fog can disorientate scramblers very quickly. In Great Britain ridge routes which involve some scrambling are especially popular, including Crib Goch on Snowdon, the north ridge of Tryfan, Striding Edge on Helvellyn and Sharp Edge on Blencathra in the Lake District, as well as numerous routes in Scotland such as the Aonach Eagach ridge in Glencoe.

Albertsen has stated that some of her favorite shoots include those with her friend and designer, Nicole Miller; photographer Albert Watson in Nice, France and photographer Fabrizio Ferri in Milan, Italy, both for Escada; and with photographer Antoine Verglas for a Max magazine cover and calendar. In addition to her print and commercial credits, she counts among film credits working with Nicolas Cage in National Treasure, Ben Stiller in Zoolander, Woody Allen directing Celebrity, and a David Breashears' IMAX film Kilimanjaro: To the Roof of Africa for the National Geographic Society. Albertsen was chosen by Breashears in 2000 to be part of the team to climb Kilimanjaro, the world's largest freestanding mountain in Tanzania, Africa. The expedition had seven climbers, including Albertsen. She completed the climb twice, the first time in June 2000 and the second in November 2000.
