Her unique word choice is that one step to the > left that eschews the boring in favor of the unexpected; "unsighted" rather > than the mere "blind" or "a high castle wall of a smile," wholly original > and yet instantly recognizable. The cadence of her sentences seduce a reader > as surely as any romantic hero until you want to lay down on the nearest > flat surface and simply succumb as her prose takes you, Calagon-like, away. She also writes heroines who are deeply flawed as well as being unconventional, and will also break some of romance's rules. For instance, in Private Arrangements the hero and hero are estranged and take on other lovers.

England equalised through a Geoff Hurst header within six minutes and went ahead late in the second half through Martin Peters. The Dubs bounced back to close the gap to 1-6 to 1-9 by the interval as Kevin Flynn got onto a long ball and flashed it past the unsighted Brian Murray for his goal. Dublin were still very much in the hunt at 1-13 to 1-16, thanks to points from the excellent Liam Ryan and David Curtin, when Begley decided the tie with a crisply-hit shot at the death to secure a 2-16 to 1-13 victory.

For the first goal, Merriman was unsighted when the ball was put past him from a melee after a corner. A match report by the Royal Engineers' secretary commented: "it was rather disgusting losing a goal like this for anyone almost could have stopped, but naturally enough each thought it safer to leave it to the goal-keeper who could use his hands to it; unfortunately, however, owing to the crowd he did not see it and thus the ball went quietly through the posts". For the second goal, the Royal Engineers' secretary reported that "Ottaway and Maddison failed to elude the Sappers' goal keeper who this time determined to die hard; his efforts were to no purpose for Patton coming to the rescue, shot the ball through the posts". The Engineers reached the FA Cup Final for the third time in four years in 1875 but only after a hard semi-final against Oxford University, with a 1–1 draw followed by a 1–0 victory in the replay, achieved by a goal in extra time from Capt Henry Renny-Tailyour.
