In order to drive such currents, the electric field needs to not be screened, and consequently the vacuum field created within the ergosphere by distant sources must have an unscreened component. The most favored way to provide this is an e± pair cascade in a strong electric and radiation field.

The single seat, open, unscreened cockpit was immediately below the leading edge. The landing skid was mounted on the front end of a curved, deep, covered frame on the fuselage underside, separating from it aft and rubber sprung well clear towards its end. The fuselage tapered rearwards, where there was a small tail bumper. The tail was different from that of the BS.16; although the same triangular tailplane and parallel chord, cropped tipped elevators were used, they were mounted on top of a low, straight edged fin.

The wing was braced above the fuselage by the struts and the open, unscreened cockpit was under the leading edge; fabric-covered, inverted V-shaped decking tapered from the lower wing surface rearwards. There was a short, curved landing skid fixed at the nose and joined to the lower longerons at the same point as the lift struts by a V-form pair of telescopic compression struts. Initially the Pegasus had a tailskid but flight trials showed that both skids were easily broken, so the main skid was replaced with a stiffer one and the tailskid by a rubber tailwheel.

The fuselage of the Darmstadt was a plywood skinned, oval cross sectioned semi-monocoque, slightly tapered and more rounded towards the tail. The open, unscreened cockpit was placed immediately ahead of the wing leading edge with the pilot's head against the front of a low, long chord, faired pylon which supported the wing. A short undercarriage skid was attached to the fuselage underside, aided by a small tailskid. Rectangular pissoirs, with elaborate patterned cast-iron panels, similar in design to some of the UK ones, were installed in the city of Melbourne, Australia, in the period 1903-1918. Of at least 40 that were made, nine remain in place and in use on the streets in and around the central city, and have been classified by the National Trust since 1998. Susanna Fogel and Joni Lefkowitz met in 2002 at a sketch comedy writing class and became friends. Lefkowitz and Fogel both starred in the 2008 web series Joni & Susanna. The film is an adaptation of the play Life Partners, written by Lefkowitz and Fogel based on their friendship and similar to the one depicted in Walking and Talking by Nicole Holofcener. In 2011, the play, starring Amanda Walsh and Shannon Woodward, was created and premiered as part of one act play series Unscreened, which develops and produces world- premiere short plays by some of Hollywood's fastest-rising writers and featuring multi-star casts.

The Bigiarella was a single seat high wing braced monoplane, constructed from wood and fabric. Its fuselage, though conventional, was a new design but otherwise the Bigiarella was very similar to the BS.8 Biancone, using the same wings and support structure. The Biancone, though it had a nacelle housing the cockpit had retained the fuselage boom of its predecessor, the BS.7 Allievo Italia. In contrast, the Bigiarella had a full, rectangular cross section fuselage which was only slightly tapered, the deepest section containing the pilot's open, unscreened cockpit in front of and below the wing's high leading edge.

A 2007 inspection report from Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Prisons raised concerns about security and drug use at Ranby Prison. The report also criticised the prison's anti- bullying programmes, accommodation and resettlement work. A further report in 2012 noted strengths is staff-prisoner relations, resettlement, vocational training and work environment for prisoners, but concerns about that a quarter of prisoners were locked in their cells, the availability of debt and financial advice services, a number of unscreened toilets, insufficient efforts to reduce violence and self-harm, and high levels of drug and alcohol availability. They were also concerned about the health care provision.

However, during transmission of series five, transmission of the episodes caught up with production, meaning repeats of some of the black-and-white episodes had to be slotted into the schedule to slow the broadcast of new episodes (this had little impact on viewers, as the colour episodes were being broadcast in black and white anyway). Electronic waste is often exported to developing countries. 4.5-volt, D, C, AA, AAA, AAAA, A23, 9-volt, CR2032 and LR44 cells are all recyclable in most countries. One theory is that increased regulation of electronic waste and concern over the environmental harm in mature economies creates an economic disincentive to remove residues prior to export. Critics of trade in used electronics maintain that it is too easy for brokers calling themselves recyclers to export unscreened electronic waste to developing countries, such as China, India and parts of Africa, thus avoiding the expense of removing items like bad cathode ray tubes (the processing of which is expensive and difficult).

It had a standard single skid undercarriage, with wing tip and tail bumpers. A second form, seen the diagram and also in all the photographs has the glider with a shortened fuselage ending under the wing at around the one third chord point, reducing the overall length to about . This version also had vulnerable, lozenge shaped, fixed end plate fins on its tips, extending both above and below the wing, and a double skid undercarriage, forming a sledge-like arrangement held well away from the fuselage and suitable for snow. Eventually, a 'straight to air' format was settled upon, where calls would be taken unscreened. This format quickly became a hit with listeners. The absence of a delay system to 'dump' offensive language resulted in callers saying swear words just before they were cut off. It is believed that Abbot was one of the first (if not the first) to take calls straight to air, and later LBC colleague Iain Lee has often confessed that he stole some of his act from Nick (as well as Clive Bull and Tommy Boyd), perhaps hinting he got the inspiration for his "Triple M" show from Nick Abbot in addition to Boyd's "Human Zoo" show.

Indeed, contemporary production publicity stated that, for almost all of the scripts, two endings were written and rehearsed to cope with the jury's independent decision which was delivered for the first time, as in a real court case, while the programme's recording progressed. However, the course of some cases would lead to the jury being directed to return 'not guilty' verdicts. After an unscreened pilot (see 'Untransmitted stories' below), the first story to be shown was Lieberman v Savage (18 to 20 October 1972). Unusually this was a civil case, whereas the vast majority of subsequent instalments featured criminal trials, with only occasional civil cases such as libel, insurance or copyright claims.

The first reported case of successful transplant was a Spanish child patient who was interned in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 1982, in New York City. David Vetter, the original "bubble boy", had one of the first transplantations also, but eventually died because of an unscreened virus, Epstein-Barr (tests were not available at the time), in his newly transplanted bone marrow from his sister, an unmatched bone marrow donor. Today, transplants done in the first three months of life have a high success rate. Physicians have also had some success with in utero transplants done before the child is born and also by using cord blood which is rich in stem cells.

The platform screen doors that provide access to the first car of the train do not open at the station serving Concourse B of the airport to prevent unscreened passengers from accessing the concourse. In many NSW TrainLink stations in New South Wales, Australia, due to shorter platform length than trains, only selected doors will open. One example would be Wondabyne railway station or Zig Zag railway station, where the extremely short length of platform only allows rear door (next to crew cab) on the last carriage to be opened. In New Zealand, “selective door opening” is used on the Wairarapa Connection commuter train, as the Maymorn railway station platform is not long enough to accommodate all the carriages, and Maymorn passengers are restricted to the first three carriages.

In 2008, a divided Nevada Supreme Court came to the opposite conclusion in considering the case of a woman injured by a foul ball while sitting at a table on the concourse drinking beer at Cashman Field during a Las Vegas 51 game. Justice Ron Parraguirre wrote for a four-justice majority that, since the team had both verbal and signed warnings and the plaintiff chose to consume her beer in an unscreened area, one where she had not in his opinion demonstrated a significant risk of injury, it had not breached what it held to be its limited duty to her. In his dissent, Chief Justice Mark Gibbons, joined by Michael Cherry and Michael L. Douglas, agreed with the Maisonave court, which he quoted, that the Baseball Rule was properly limited to fans in areas meant for watching the game.

The rear member of the N extended above the wing to meet a short, near vertical strut, forming a flat, fabric covered, triangular pylon or cabane, from which a pair of landing wires ran to both spars on each side. Star Trek began as an unscreened pilot made in 1964 before the series began in 1966. The show was conceived by screenwriter and producer Gene Roddenberry, depicting a future of galactic exploration and struggle, with all creeds and colors of humanity working together to explore the stars in a similar manner to the pioneers of the old West in America. Produced by Paramount for the NBC Network, Roddenberry’s original 1964 pilot for Star Trek, called "The Cage" and starring Jeffrey Hunter as Captain Christopher Pike, was regarded as being too intellectual and slow-moving by the network: however, they had sufficient faith in the ideas behind the program to commission a second pilot, which replaced the character of Pike and all but one of the rest (Spock, played by Leonard Nimoy, was the only character carried over from the original 1964 pilot) with a new crew commanded by Captain James T. Kirk, played by William Shatner. The show used a few established science fiction authors. Harlan Ellison wrote “The City on the Edge of Forever”, Richard Matheson wrote "The Enemy Within," and Theodore Sturgeon wrote “Shore Leave” and “Amok Time”.

Molloy has been a panelist on The Project and Have You Been Paying Attention?. Molloy worked with the D-Generation as a writer-performer on their 1988 Seven Network specials (he had auditioned for the D-Gen in 1986, but it wasn’t until the troupe saw him in the 1987 Melbourne University revue, Laminex on the Rocks, that they signed him up). He also worked as a writer on the ABC's The Gerry Connolly Show (1988), the Network Ten series, The Comedy Company, in its 1989 season, and, while working on the (unscreened) pilots for The Late Show for the Nine Network (1990), Molloy was a cast member of ABC TV’s The Late Show (1992–1993) as a writer/performer. As well as pairing up with Tony Martin for each episode’s introduction and the Street Interviews segment, Mick co-hosted the segments Muckrakers with Jason Stephens and Commercial Crimestoppers with Santo Cilauro, played the thick-witted assistant of stuntman Rob Sitch in Shitscared, and performed in countless sketches (he provided the voices of Sergeant Olden in The Olden Days and Chief Chromedome in Bargearse). Molloy also delivered a series of volatile rants in the Mick’s Serve part of Late Show News.
