The image of a region being connected to the European high-speed transport and active political response are more important for regional economic development. Some small-medium enterprises located in the immediate vicinity of the terminal have used the opportunity to re-brand the profile of their business with positive effect, such as The New Inn at Etchinghill which was able to commercially exploit its unique selling point as being 'the closest pub to the Channel Tunnel'. Tunnel-induced regional development is small compared to general economic growth. The South East of England is likely to benefit developmentally and socially from faster and cheaper transport to continental Europe, but the benefits are unlikely to be equally distributed throughout the region.

Darda, German toy car Darda is the name of a German toy car racing set (and related items) which was most popular in Europe and the USA throughout the '80s and '90s. Today the toys can be ordered online from retailers such as Only Toys and Darda UK. In Sweden, Darda Sweden is both wholesaler and retailer for Sweden and Scandinavia. The unique selling point of the sets is the special Darda Motor, invented by Helmut Darda in 1970, propelled the cars (similarly sized to Matchbox or Hot Wheels) at speeds of up to 30 mph (50 km/h). The pullback motor is wound up by pressing down the rear of the car and rolling it forwards and backwards on its wheels.

The manor has been proclaimed Hampshire's Most Haunted house, by David Scanlan, founder of the Hampshire Ghost Society, who was responsible for bringing the alleged haunting to the attention of paranormal investigators and the public during his time as manager of the youth hostel there from 2002 to 2006. The Manor's reputation for being haunted was blamed by the press for the property's failure to sell at auction in 2010, although a local chartered surveyor had described it as a unique selling point likely to appeal to developers wanting to turn it into a guest house. Manor trustees have confirmed the value of the Manor's reputation in getting the public interested in the restoration of the building. The reported paranormal activity includes sudden drops in temperature, children whispering, furniture moving and apparitions of more than twenty ghosts.

The designer, Harris Mann, was also responsible for the Triumph TR7, another wedge-shaped car, as was his original design for the Austin Allegro, although by the time that design had been readied for production nearly all the angular styling features had been lost. The Princess, unlike the Allegro, made it to regular production relatively unscathed and unaltered from Harris's original plan. The bonnet (hood) was a little higher, to allow for taller engines, but the biggest change from Harris's design involved the rear. Harris had intended the design to be a five-door hatchback, but management decided that the Austin Maxi should be the only hatchback in the range, making that its unique selling point, and besides, they thought the Princess's prospective buyers would dislike a hatchback – despite the fact that in the Rover division the larger Rover SD1 was being given a hatchback design.

Over the weekend on 24–25 November, many Conservative MPs were faced with the anger of their local party members who overwhelmingly supported Thatcher but did not at that time have a vote in leadership elections, and opinion polls showed that chancellor John Major would also boost Conservative support if leader (previously Heseltine's unique selling-point). Heseltine had never done much to court support among younger MPs the way Major had, and was seen as aloof even by his own supporters.

Rehearsals were often intense fractious occasions above the Market District Boys Club. From their very first gig in 1988 at the Royal Park, with support Pale Saints, it was apparent that the band were offering a different sound and sensibility to their immediate Leeds peers such as The Wedding Present, Cud and the Pale Saints. Whilst the band members all hailed from east Leeds, unlike their former student rivals (although Mick Roberts was originally from Wales), they had more in common with the growing northern music scene in Lancashire featuring Liverpool-based bands such as The La's, The Real People and The Farm and the early Inspiral Carpets, The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays from Manchester. The Taxis had a unique selling point with the arrival of Chris Walton on trombone which only served to emphasise the hard, fast, Northern Soul beat they often used whilst all around were slipping into the funky drummer, baggy beat.

Nevertheless, Western Europe remains Switzerland’s largest cross-border wealth management market. It accounts for 40% of business at one trillion Swiss francs from EU domiciled clients and employs around 20’000 people and results in approximately 1.5 billion Swiss francs in business tax revenue. Most importantly, it is dependent upon active and unhindered access to the European Common Market and an intact, stable political relationship, ruling out a “stand-alone” policy for Switzerland.

Alongside running the Van Buren Organisation and his other projects Andrew is continuing an on going quest to gain the inventor of the modern circus Philip Astley greater recognition, which was started in 1981 when Andrew's father Fred Van Buren helped to create and themed Philip Astley / Circus the Newcastle-under- Lyme carnival in the UK. Philip Astley was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme UK, which gives an even greater location connection for Andrew. In 1992 Andrew commissioned a portable life size statue to be made of Philip Astley, then alongside his father they created and developed a Summer of Astley events celebrating the 250th anniversary of Philip Astley's Birth. Over the years Andrew has become an expert on the life & legacy of the "original ringmaster" Philip Astley. In 2009 Andrew Van Buren started a third personal attempt to not only raise awareness in Philip Astley and his legacy but also attempting to give Newcastle-under-Lyme a unique selling point to create tourism, this resulted in Andrew Van Buren and Cllr Wenslie Naylon creating the Philip Astley Project.
