Robinson started his career with Midlands-based outfit West Bromwich Albion F.C. where he made only 2 league outings before a move to Barnsley F.C.. Robinson played over 150 games for the Tykes becoming a firm fans faviouate. This then led to Kevin Keegan paying £450,000 to take the defender to Newcastle United, March 1993. Robinson helped the Magpies secure promotion to the Premier League later that season.
The referee T.Crew also enjoyed the game, congratulating both sides on a sporting display that "was the most pleasurable game he had ever officiated". Vale followed this by picking just four points in their next thirteen games to almost certainly doom the club to relegation – crucially though were the two points they earned from a 3–0 win over Barnsley. With two games to go they were three points (and inferior goal average) behind the tykes. After a 2–1 win over Chesterfield matched by a 4–1 home defeat by Barnsley, they were just behind by a single point.
The following season saw further progress at Leeds Tykes where he made his first XV debut on the wing as a second-half replacement in a pre-season friendly against Exeter Chiefs. His continued involvement with the England Under-19 squad resulted in selection for Team England in the rugby sevens at the 2004 Commonwealth Youth Games in Bendigo, Australia, his first experience of sevens. England won the silver medal, losing narrowly 26–24 to the hosts, Australia, in the Final. Care scored 7 tries during the tournament making him the top try scorer in the competition.
The 1998-99 Allied Dunbar Premiership Two was the twelfth full season of rugby union within the second tier of the English league system, currently known as the RFU Championship. The league was expanded from twelve teams to fourteen and new teams to the division included Bristol who had been relegated from the Allied Dunbar Premiership 1997-98 while London Welsh, Rugby Lions, Leeds Tykes and Worcester were promoted from National League 1. Allied Dunbar sponsored the top two divisions of the English rugby union leagues for the second season in a row. The leagues were previously known as the Courage Clubs Championship and sponsored by Courage Brewery.
After his first professional season, Neil was recommended to Barnsley by his next-door neighbour Peter Hetherston, a friend of their manager Dave Bassett. He made his debut for the Tykes in the Football League First Division on 26 August 2000, replacing Lee Jones for the final ten minutes of a 4–1 home win over West Bromwich Albion. He made 32 league appearances in his first season at Oakwell, and was sent off on 28 April 2001 in a 0–1 home loss to Bolton Wanderers. On 15 September 2001, Neil scored his first goal in English football, concluding a 2–0 home win over Crewe Alexandra.
Lindsay settled into life at Barnsley well and by November 2017 there were calls for him to earn a Scotland call-up. However Barnsley hit poor form around December and they ended up being relegated after losing 4–1 at Derby County in the final match of the 2017–18 season. In 2018–19 under the management of Daniel Stendel, Lindsay formed a strong partnership with Ethan Pinnock as the Tykes held the best defensive record in the EFL with only 39 goals conceded and kept 21 clean sheets helping them secure second spot and a return to the Championship at the first time of asking.
On January 18, 2017, it was announced that the network would end all pay television distribution in the summer of 2017 and convert to an online-only model. The network went off the air on June 28 at noon Eastern time. The network programmed a final marathon of Friday Night Tykes that day, ending with the season one finale, "Finish What We Started". After the episode ended, a "Thank you" slide was shown with the network's web address (which shortly thereafter was turned into a redirect to the main Esquire website), after which the channel space created by Style in 1998 ceased to exist.
On 8 January 2018, Moore signed for Championship side Barnsley for an undisclosed fee on a deal until 2021. Moore scored his first goal for Barnsley in a 2–1 defeat against Burton Albion, on 20 February 2018. In his second season with Barnsley, Moore emerged as the Tykes' first choice striker, featuring in 31 matches and scoring 17 goals. On 1 September 2018, Moore scored both goals in Barnsley's 2–1 victory over Gillingham, putting him on six goals in six games for the season.
The club was formed in 2006 in a partnership between Leeds Metropolitan University and Leeds-North East School Sports Partnership. The newly established team adopted the name Leeds Carnegie after Carnegie College, which forms part of the University's sports department – notably, the same approach was taken by the city's rugby union team, Leeds Tykes, who went into partnership with the University the following year and subsequently rebranded as Leeds Carnegie Rugby. The newly formed team entered English Basketball League Division Four (North), the fifth level league in the country. They played their first game on 21 October 2006, demolishing Barrow Thorns 109–41 at the Carnegie Sport Centre.
Born in Berry Brow, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England, Haigh played club cricket for Keighley Cricket Club, and made his debut for Yorkshire in 1895, playing for the Tykes until 1913. He played sporadically for England from 1898/99 to 1912, and was a Wisden Cricketer of the Year. He bowled right-hand medium pace, but could vary it with slower or faster deliveries, and when the pitch helped him he made the ball spin back from the off. The usefulness of Haigh's break-back saw over 74 per cent of his wickets taken without assistance from fieldsmen – the highest of any bowler with over 500 wickets.
Evans joined Manchester United as a 14-year old and progressed through the club's youth system, making it into Warren Joyce's under-21 side by October 2014. He left Old Trafford when he was released in June 2015. He joined Barnsley on a one-year deal the following month to link up with the "Tykes" under-21s squad and upon the expiry of that contract the club opted to extend his contract for a further year. On 28 January 2017, he made his Championship debut in a 1–0 win at Rotherham United, coming on as a 60th-minute substitute for left-back Aidy White.

Robinson made his first- class debut for his native county in 1984, and played 132 first-class games for the Tykes until 1991, averaging 35.84, passing 1,000 runs in a season on three occasions. He then moved to Leicestershire and played up to 1995, but was somewhat less successful, playing 27 matches without a century, for an average of 23.72. His best first-class score of 189, came in a Roses Match in 1991, in his penultimate match for Yorkshire.
Two more rather impressive seasons were spent at Blundell Park before Donovan confirmed the Grimsby supporters' worst fears and left to join rivals Barnsley. His time at Oakwell was mainly blighted by injury problems, and he experienced relegation with the club, and at the end of the 2002–03 season he was released by The Tykes. During his spell at Barnsley he scored once against Walsall in December 2001. Donovan was snapped up by Alan Buckley, who had managed him at West Brom and Grimsby, and gave him a one-year deal for Rochdale However, after another fruitless campaign, playing only seven times for 'Dale, Donovan was released by the club.
Missouri-born child actor Teddy Infuhr, youngest of four, moved with his family to Los Angeles when he was three and was initially prodded into acting by his mother. A young student at the Rainbow Studios, he was spotted by a talent agent and booked the very first film he went out on with The Tuttles of Tahiti (1942) at the age of five. Throughout the rest of the 1940s he would find steady roles as mean- spirited tykes, trouble-makers or bullying types, never settling down to one specific studio. A good portion of his work was noticeable yet he also appeared unbilled much of the time.
Cole, who was dropped from the first team for the Champions League tie at home to Feyenoord, came on with fifteen minutes of normal time remaining and grabbed a vital equaliser, drilling a low shot past the wretched Derby defence. Old Trafford welcomed Barnsley for the first time in over 60 years and a rampant United display helped them leapfrog Arsenal to the top of the Premiership for the first time since early September. Andy Cole bagged a first half hat-trick and Scholes, Ryan Giggs (2) and Poborský followed up with goals in a breathtaking performance that gave the Tykes their ninth league defeat of the season.

When growing up in the Toller Lane area both he and JB Priestley regularly played football together (Toller Lane Tykes and Saltburn United).
The 2006–07 Guinness Premiership was the 20th season of the top flight of the English domestic rugby union competitions, played between September 2006 and May 2007. It was announced during the 2005-06 season that the 2006-07 competition would end two weeks early due to the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France, as England would be defending their title. At the end of the previous season, Harlequins gained promotion to this season, while the Leeds Tykes were relegated. The Champions of this season were Leicester Tigers, beating Gloucester RFC 44-16 on 12 May in the Final at Twickenham, while the Northampton Saints were relegated.
Hourihane joined Barnsley on 23 June 2014 for a fee of £250,000, signing a three-year contract with the Tykes. He earned the League One Player of the Month award for August 2014, after making an impressive start to his Barnsley career. Hourihane became captain of the club in December 2015.Barnsley Irish Star Conor Hourihane Irish Post Hourihane and his teammates won two trophies at Wembley Stadium in London, during the 2015–2016 season: The first visit to Wembley was on 3 April 2016 for the Football League Trophy, in which Barnsley won 3–2 in the League Trophy final, after beating Oxford United of League Two.
In January 2006 the Cardiff Blues were knocked out of the Heineken Cup after losing 3–21 at home to Perpignan and then losing 3–48 to the relegation threatened Leeds Tykes. This formed part of a 5 match losing run, coinciding with the loss through injury of outside half Nicky Robinson. The poor run prompted the management to issue "final warnings" to under performing players. As had been the case in the two previous seasons, results improved in the latter months of the season, and in May, the Celtic League attendance record was broken when 15,327 watched Cardiff Blues beat Leinster 40–31 at the Millennium Stadium.
Mulligan was born in Liverpool, England, but his family moved to New Zealand when he was five years old. He returned to England at the age of 16, along with Rory Fallon, to join the youth-team at Barnsley; the move had been arranged by Rory's father Kevin, who was an assistant to New Zealand head coach John Adshead. He made his professional debut for the club under Glyn Hodges's caretaker stewardship in a 3–0 defeat to Manchester City at Oakwell on 31 October 2001. Steve Parkin's "Tykes" were relegated out of the First Division at the end of the 2001–02 season, but Mulligan retained his place in the Second Division for the 2002–03 campaign.
9 He also made a second-half appearance as a substitute for Mark McGhee in the 2–1 defeat against Rangers in the 1986 Scottish League Cup Final. In June 1989 Archdeacon moved to Barnsley for £80,000 he and became a fixture for the Yorkshire club in the following seasons. He made 233 league appearances for the "Tykes", scoring 23 goals. Barnsley were an established side in England's second tier at that time (Division Two until 1992 when it was re-branded Division One on the formation of the FA Premier League), never quite succeeding in gaining promotion although they narrowly missed out on a play- off spot in 1990-91 on goal difference.
The second half was evenly matched but in the last twenty minutes the hosts ran riot with Julian Gray, Jay Tabb and Best all scoring. A dismal afternoon was for the visitors summed up as Brian Howard and Dennis Souza began fighting amongst each other at 3–0. Match Thirty-One – Barnsley 2–1 West Bromwich Albion The tykes maintained their strong home form with an impressive win over current league leaders West Bromwich Albion, a goal each in the first half for strikers Jon Macken and Daniel Nardiello. West Brom fought back in the second half and James Morrison pulled one back for his team, but Barnsley managed to hold on for the win.

Many teams can trace their beginnings to the direct effort of the Los Angeles R.C. or to former members who have relocated and founded clubs in their respective areas. In 2004, LARC forged an informal partnership with the Manhattan Beach Youth Rugby Club a member of Southern California Youth Rugby an autonomous subset of SCRFU. LARC made this partnership official in 2013 when they merged with the Manhattan Beach Tykes which put 6 youth teams under the LARC umbrella; U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18. LARC also had an informal partnership with Los Angeles Coast Women's Rugby Football Club that began in 2007 but ceased when the Coast team folded in 2011.

Leicester City in the 1997–98 season. The resulting 1–0 defeat condemned the Tykes to relegation At the time of the creation of the FA Premier League in 1992, Barnsley had been Football League members for 94 years but had still not reached the top flight. They were, at least, in a decent position to make that breakthrough, as members of the new Division One (as the old Second Division was now called). In December 1989, they turned to Mel Machin, manager of Manchester City's promotion-winning side the previous campaign, to guide them into the top flight, but he left nearly four years later with promotion still to be achieved.
Robert Baker (13 July 1849 – 21 June 1896) was an English amateur first-class cricketer, who played three matches for Yorkshire between 1874 and 1875. He was a right-handed batsman who scored 45 runs at 11.25 with a best of 22, and a right arm fast-medium bowler, who bowled 16.2 overs for 43 runs without success. Baker was born in Hunmanby, Yorkshire, England, and made his debut against Middlesex at the Prince's Ground, Chelsea in May 1874 and scored nine, opening Yorkshire's first innings. He dropped down the order for the second innings, but was instrumental in sealing the Tykes' five wicket win, putting on an unbeaten 28 for the sixth wicket in partnership with Allen Hill.
Mather was an ever present in the Tykes side and a standout player in the Premiership, winning the player of the year and players player of the year award in 2003 having help the Leeds outfit to its highest ever league position of 5th. At the end of the 2002/03 season Mather returned to Scotland to Captain the Glasgow Warriors side. His form secured him a late replacement call for the 2003 World Cup Squad and he was one of the few standout Scottish performers in what was a disappointing tournament for the Scots. He gained further caps against France, Fiji and another quarter final appearance against hosts Australia in Brisbane.
Barnsley qualified for the play-offs and, after thrashing Birmingham City 5-2 on aggregate (with a 2-1 defeat at Oakwell insufficient for Birmingham to best Barnsley over two legs after the Tykes' 4-0 win at St Andrew's), reached the final at Wembley to face Ipswich Town. Barnsley took the lead through an own goal by Ipswich goalkeeper Richard Wright, but goals from Tony Mowbray, Richard Naylor and Marcus Stewart put Ipswich 3-1 up. A Craig Hignett penalty with twelve minutes left gave Barnsley hope, until Martijn Reuser's goal on the stroke of injury time. The 4-2 defeat condemned Barnsley to a second consecutive season in the First Division.
Similarly, rugby union has also on occasion decamped into the northern heartlands of rugby league; in 1998, England played two qualifying games for the 1999 Rugby World Cup at the Alfred McAlpine Stadium in Huddersfield, which also hosted a game during the final tournament. England have also played twice at Old Trafford, the traditional home of the Super League Grand Final. However, possibly the most notable event came in 1998 when Leeds Rhinos RLFC and Leeds Tykes RUFC merged to form Leeds Rugby Limited, described as "the world's first dual code rugby partnership". Although there are separate teams in both codes, they are owned by a common organisation with a single board.
In July 2007, Kozluk turned down a contract at Sheffield United and Leeds United to sign for Championship side Barnsley, after manager Simon Davey offered him the highest wages at the club. The club described the signing as a 'massive coup'. Helping the club to avoid relegation by the end of the 2007–08 season, he also played a role in the club reaching the FA Cup FA Cup semi-finals, helping the Tykes to overcome Liverpool at Anfield, and Chelsea at Oakwell, before ultimately losing 1–0 to Cardiff City in the semi- finals at Wembley. Kozluk was used on the left side of defence in the 2008–09 campaign, and recorded a total of 38 appearances throughout the season.

Timothy Richard George Stimpson (born 10 September 1973 in Liverpool) is a former rugby union international full back (and occasional wing). During his career he played for Wakefield, West Hartlepool, Newcastle Falcons, Leicester Tigers, Perpignan, Leeds Tykes and Nottingham, England and the British and Irish Lions. His international career was a start-stop affair, however he excelled at club level. In particular, during his five-year spell at Leicester Tigers between 1998–2003, as a goalkicker, he was an integral part of the dominant Leicester side that won the league four times in succession to add to back-to-back Heineken Cup, becoming the Premiership's top points scorer in the process (his points total has now been overtaken by both Jonny Wilkinson and Andy Goode).
Martin Schusterman (born 13 September 1975 in San Juan, Argentina) is a retired rugby union footballer. His last club was San Isidro Club. His usual position was at flanker. Schusterman started his career in 1997 with San Isidro Club in Argentina. In 2003 he made his debut for the Argentina national rugby union team and in 2003 he joined Plymouth Albion. In 2006 he joined Leeds Carnegie, then known as Leeds Tykes, and helped the club to secure promotion to the Guinness Premiership. In 2008 he returned to amateur rugby to his home club San Isidro Club. At the time in Plymouth, he made an instant impression at the club, with a try on his debut against Coventry, after coming on from the substitutes bench.
He missed five weeks of the start of the 2005–06 campaign after picking up a hamstring injury, this injury coupled with his disciplinary record of seven yellow cards and two red cards limited him to 33 league games throughout the campaign. He managed to take part in the play-offs however, and his headed goal against Huddersfield Town in the second leg of the semi-finals at the Galpharm Stadium helped to take the "Tykes" into the 2006 play-off final. He played all 120 minutes of the final at the Millennium Stadium, helping Barnsley to secure promotion with a penalty shoot-out victory over Swansea City following a 2–2 draw. He signed a new two-year contract in June 2006.
In July 2002, two months after his release from Barnsley, Chettle and fellow Tykes defender Darren Barnard joined league rivals Grimsby Town on one-year contracts. Chettle was seen as an ideal candidate to step in the centre of defence and started the season alongside the club's player-manager Paul Groves and Jamaican youngster Simon Ford. After a slow start to the season for Grimsby, Steve saw his season blighted by injury, and through this, it pushed manager Groves into signing Sheffield United centre half Georges Santos and Middlesbrough's Jason Gavin as cover. Steve eventually returned from injury in early 2003, and went on to score his only goal for The Mariners in a 4–1 home defeat against Crystal Palace.
Tonelli's father, who worked for 40 years in the steel business and set an example for his son for hard work, used to dam up the water in a culvert next to their home, which would freeze, and allowed Tonelli endless access to skating time near their home on Ontario St. in Milton. Tonelli was a multi-sport athlete in his youth, serving as pitcher for the Red Sox in the Milton Minor Baseball Association in 1966, when he hit a grand slam in the same game he served as pitcher. In 1968, with his father as an assistant coach, Tonelli won an OBA championship for the Milton Mowbray Tykes. He had four one-hitters as a pitcher in the 1970 baseball season.

He played 96 List A one day matches for the Tykes, scoring 1,350 runs at 20.76, with a top of 80 not out, and taking 23 wickets at just over 37.
Peter David Borrill (born 4 July 1951) is an English former first-class cricketer, who played two matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 1971. A right arm fast medium bowler, he made his debut against Oxford University and took 2 for 27 and 2 for 6, in a comfortable innings win for the Tykes. This performance won him a place in the County Championship game against Sussex at the County Cricket Ground, Hove, where he removed Roger Prideaux at a cost of just two runs in the second innings of a drawn game. Despite this promising start, the strength of Yorkshire's seam bowling attack precluded further appearances, and his first-class career was over before the age of 20.
Born in Eccleshill, Bradford, Yorkshire, Brennan played Bradford League cricket for his home town before his break into first-class cricket in 1947.Double debut joy for Tykes, Telegraph & Argus, Retrieved on 19 December 2008 Brennan played two second XI matches in 1946, but first team opportunities were blocked by Paul Gibb, Arthur Wood and Kenneth Fiddling. However, all three had left the club by the start of the 1947 season, leaving Brennan and Harry Crick in competition for the keeper spot. Brennan made his first-class debut, aged 27, against the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in Yorkshire's opening fixture of the season, but Crick was selected for five of the six Championship matches in May, thereafter Brennan was a regular, finishing the season with twenty three appearances to Crick's five outings.
Pablo Bouza (born 9 May 1973 in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina) is a former rugby union player who has so far won 38 caps playing at No 8, flanker or lock for the Argentine rugby union side. He currently plays club rugby in England with Leeds Carnegie (formerly Leeds Tykes), who played the 2007-08 season in the top-level Guinness Premiership after winning the National Division One title in 2006-07. He made his international test debut at the age of 26 on 8 June 1996 against Uruguay in a 37–18 victory. He missed out on selection for the 1999 Rugby World Cup, but when selected for the 2003 Rugby World Cup he scored four tries in two games and was the only forward in the top ten try scorers.
That campaign saw Shelley reach the 200 appearance mark for the Tykes and he enjoyed one of his proudest moments for the club when he lifted the Powergen Cup after their win over Bath Rugby at Twickenham in 2005. Although Iain Balshaw was the official captain on that day, he went off injured early in the game and Shelley took the on-field captaincy. Shelley started his career at local club side Moortown, leaving them after one season to join West Park Bramhope. He did not become a prop until he went to Newcastle University where he played first for Medicals RFC and the University's 1st XV but a year later he was in Bramhope's 1st XV and two years after that he was playing in the First Division with West Hartlepool.
Despite making two appearances for Newcastle at the start of the 2016–17 season, on 30 August, Armstrong joined fellow Championship side Barnsley on an initial six-month loan deal, having signed a new four-year deal at St James' Park before his departure, after Newcastle manager Rafael Benítez expressed his desire for Armstrong to gain more experience at Championship level. He made his debut for the Tykes on 10 September as a substitute in place of Ryan Kent during a 2–1 victory at Preston North End, scoring the winning goal with a left-footed curling effort after outpacing and losing his marker with a backheel. In January 2017, it was announced that Armstrong had extended his loan spell at the club until the end of the 2016–17 season.
Blackett went on to make a handful of appearances before the side were eventually relegated. In the National Division One he established himself as the first choice No. 12 and in the 2004–05 campaign was an almost ever present making 24 appearances for the side and scoring five tries, two of these coming against Plymouth Albion in Rotherham's 24–18 league victory. Blackett has plenty of experience playing in the National Division One and whilst with Rotherham was regarded as one of the division's top players, with a strong reputation as a reliable defender. Despite only joining the Tykes until the end of the 2005–06 season, Blackett was one of the few players who committed their future to the club at the end of the season; which ended in relegation.
In the last years of his reign, King Henry VIII of England tried to secure an alliance with Scotland by the marriage of the infant Mary, Queen of Scots, to his young son, the future Edward VI. When diplomacy failed, and Scotland was on the point of an alliance with France, he launched a war against Scotland that has become known as the Rough Wooing. The war also had a religious aspect; some Scots opposed an alliance that would bring religious Reformation on English terms. During the battle, the Scots taunted the English soldiers as "loons" (persons of no consequence), "tykes" and "heretics". The Earl of Angus, who is said to have arrived with monks "the professors of the Gospel", the heavy pikemen of the Lowlands, eight thousand strong, was in the lead.
The pre-season began with the sale of top-scorer Tom Nolan to Bradford Park Avenue, whilst manager Tom Holford heralded a youth policy. Ten new faces replaced the fourteen retained from the previous season, these included: free-scoring striker George Stabb (Notts County), centre-half Harry Griffiths (Everton), left-winger Arthur Caldwell (Winsford United), left-back Roderick Welsh (Portsmouth), and right- half Michael Curley (Manchester City). The season started with what would ultimately turn out to be a relegation decider, Vale lost 4–2 to Barnsley at Oakwell, with the "Tykes" scoring twice in the last ten minutes. Still switching the team regularly to find a favourite eleven, the "Valiants" then picked up eight points from their next six games to move into eighth in the table.
The culture of the people of Yorkshire is an accumulated product of a number of different civilisations who have influenced its history, including; the Celts (Brigantes and Parisii), Romans, Angles, Norse Vikings, and Normans amongst others. The western part of the historic North Riding had an additional infusion of Breton culture due to the Honour of Richmond being occupied by Alain Le Roux, grandson of Geoffrey I, Duke of Brittany. The people of Yorkshire are immensely proud of their county and local culture, and it is sometimes suggested they identify more strongly with their county than they do with their country. Yorkshire people have their own Yorkshire dialects and accents and are, or rather were, known as Broad Yorkshire or Tykes, with its roots in Old English and Old Norse.
It was only after Darren Gough's appointment as Yorkshire captain, and the major signings of Jacques Rudolph and Younis Khan that McGrath became convinced Yorkshire shared his ambitions and he decided to stay.McGrath agrees to stay with Tykes BBC Sport 2 March 2007 He then declared himself delighted with the new situation at Yorkshire and hoped to stay for as long as possible. After a slow start to the season, perhaps due to the off season situation, McGrath hit 135 not out in the opening Roses match of 2007, a one-dayer played at Old Trafford, and consecutive centuries against Durham (Friends Provident Trophy) and Kent (County Championship). His excellent form continued as he reached a personal milestone in the rain-affected Championship match with Warwickshire at Edgbaston, scoring 188 not out on 16 July 2007.
Hume with Barnsley in August 2008 Despite announcing that he would stay at Leicester, on 25 June 2008, Barnsley secured the signing of Hume for £1.2 million. On 9 August, the opening day of the Championship season, Hume scored just five minutes into his Barnsley debut away to Queens Park Rangers, but the Tykes lost the game 2–1. He was sent off on his home debut eight days later, a loss by the same score to Coventry City at Oakwell. On his return on 30 August, he scored what BBC Sport called a "spectacular volley" to open a 2–0 win over Derby, and in October he netted in victories against Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday, the former seeing his team come from a goal down to win 4–1 with ten men.
It's like the scares Sully and Mike spring on those sleeping tykes: technically impressive but a job un-anchored to anything more meaningful." Leonard Maltin of IndieWire praised the animation and art direction, but wrote that he wished "the movie was funnier and wasn't so plot-heavy" and that "Pixar has raised the bar for animated features so high that when they turn out a film that's merely good, instead of great, they have only themselves to blame for causing critics to damn them with faint praise." Michael Phillips of Chicago Tribune gave the film two stars out of four, saying "Monsters University, the weirdly charmless sequel to the animated 2001 Pixar hit Monsters, Inc., is no better or worse than the average (and I mean average) time-filling sequel cranked out by other animation houses.
His try helped give Marist a 10–7 lead after he received a pass from Lyall Stewart and scored in the corner. The Auckland Star further discussed the controversy saying “the sole topic of conversation in … both League and Rugby since Saturday last has been the playing of Kirwan in the Marist Bros. team, and while the majority of followers hold the opinion that it was hardly the fair thing that Kirwan should be played…, others again hold that the Tykes were not only entitled to do so, but did what any other team would have done had they been similarly placed…”. The club freely admitting “that for some time they had been endeavouring to get Kirwan to come over to League.” Devonport were also trying to secure rugby players to join their side including Tonkin, Matson (Ponsonby) and Neil Ifwerson (Grammar).
On 25 February 2015, Johnson was appointed as the new head coach of fellow League One club Barnsley, after an undisclosed compensation package was agreed between the Tykes and Oldham Athletic for the services of Johnson and his assistant Tommy Wright. His first match in charge was a 1–0 victory at Gillingham, which occurred three days following his appointment. Despite taking over the club whilst they sat sixteenth and were underachieving, Johnson guided to the club to an eleventh-placed finish, after their form resulted in them picking up five victories, six draws and three sorrow defeats. During his first full season in charge, Johnson had Barnsley in a mixed form prior to the new year period, picking up ten victories out of a possible thirty, as well as picking up an eight-game losing streak.

He earned a place in the England Saxons squad whilst still playing in National Division One and was then rewarded with a place on the England Summer tour to North America in 2001. After appearing in the midweek sides, he won his first senior cap as a replacement for Steve Borthwick in the final 10 minutes of England's victory over the United States in San Francisco on 16 June 2001. Palmer was back to full fitness for the start of the 2002–03 Zurich Premiership and did not miss a game for the Tykes during the entire Zurich Premiership campaign. In the summer of 2003 he was selected for England's summer tour to New Zealand and Australia and then joined up with the squad for the 2003 Churchill Cup in Canada, only to pick up a serious knee injury that took six months to put right.
Glover started his career with Nottingham Forest in 1987. Under the management of Brian Clough, the club were competing for the First Division title in 1987–88 and 1988–89. He was an unused substitute in the 1989 League Cup final victory over Luton Town. He was sent out on loan to regain fitness following an injury in the 1989–90 season. In September 1989, he joined Leicester City on loan, and scored once in five Second Division games for David Pleat's Foxes. In January 1990, he had a spell on loan with Mel Machin's Barnsley, and made 12 goalless appearances for the Tykes in league and cup competitions. Forest could only post an eighth-place finish in 1990–91, but found greater success in the FA Cup. Glover played at Wembley in the 1991 FA Cup Final, in what finished as a 2–1 defeat to Terry Venables's Tottenham Hotspur.
Wilkinson signing autographs, 2007 Rob Andrew, then Director of Rugby at Falcons (Andrew has since been appointed Director of Elite Rugby for the English Rugby Football Union), said that there was no chance of Wilkinson going on England's summer tour and that he would be taking the summer off. Despite missing two conversions, he demonstrated his playmaker skills in the game against the Worcester Warriors on 30 April, in which he played the whole second half. Afterwards, Andrew reiterated that Wilkinson should not tour during the summer to prolong his recovery period. Wilkinson started as captain in the Falcons last 2005-06 Guinness Premiership game of the season on Saturday, 6 May 2006, converting six of his team's eight tries in their 54–19 victory over Leeds Tykes. Rob Andrew stated in July, pre-season to the 2006-07 Guinness Premiership, that Wilkinson would be ready to challenge for an England position come the November internationals.
In Game II he played at fullback. Following the 1997 defection Super League and all its clubs, Wendell had a stellar year in the rebel competition. He was the top try-scorer for the Broncos and helped them win Super League's expanded 1997 World Club Championship tournament and then the premiership, defeating the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 26–8 in the grand final. In the 1997 post season, Sailor was selected to play for Australia on the wing in all three matches of the Super League Test series against Great Britain. After the Super League war ended, the Broncos won the inaugural competition of the National Rugby League, defeating the Canterbury Bulldogs 38–12 in the 1998 NRL grand final, in which Sailor scored a try. He then spent the Australian summer in England, playing rugby union for Leeds Tykes and scoring 15 tries in 13 games. Sailor also appeared in two of the Leeds Rhinos trial games, including the 'Festive Challenge' on Boxing Day in 1998.
Pete Lucock (born 27 November 1992) is an English rugby union player who plays for Newcastle Falcons in the Premiership Rugby. Lucock is a graduate of Leeds Tykes mini-rugby club, and has played for Leeds at a senior level, he is the only player to have come through the ranks in such a way. Lucock made his Carnegie debut against Rotherham Titans in 2011 having been promoted to the senior squad ahead of the RFU Championship season. He went onto appear 20 times for the first team, helping the team to a play-off finish. In the 2012-13 season he made his first appearance in the opener against Nottingham and registered his first try in the away fixture against Plymouth Albion. Lucock had a season-ending knee injury in the 2013-14 season but impressed sufficiently to secure a two-year contract with Carnegie ahead of the 2014-15 season.
Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "A−" on an A+ to F scale, down from the "A" earned by the first film, while PostTrak reported filmgoers gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Bilge Ebiri of The New York Times gave the film a positive review, saying that "somewhere amid the film's ornate imagery and deliriously irreverent humor, we might begin to realize that we're watching a terrifying, incisive satire about the ways that a life lived online makes monsters of us all". Brian Lowry of CNN said that "The colorful action should delight tykes, but the smart, media-savvy asides make it especially appealing to grownups". Kerry Lengel of The Arizona Republic gave the film 3.5 stars out of 5, saying "what makes the movie compelling, despite the subdued dramatic payoff, is that it is a heightened reflection of our experience—our love affair, really—with our gadgets, our apps and, yes, our brands".
Barnsley had a poor start to their 2008–09 season, winning only two of their first ten league matches and going for a run of five games without scoring a goal. The Reds clinched the loan signing of Derby winger Gary Teale for a month on 15 August, covering for the midfield injuries of Mounir El Haimour, Jamal Campbell-Ryce and the failure to gain international clearance for Hugo Colace. The team received a boost the following month when Colace's work permit was finally granted, along with the return to fitness of both Heinz Muller and Anderson, who had been out injured for seven months. The club also made history in their away game at Ipswich Town on 30 September when they fielded striker Reuben Noble-Lazarus, who became the Football League's youngest ever player at 15 years and 45 days; beating a record which had stood since 1929. The tykes achieved their second league win of the season as they came from behind with ten men to beat Doncaster Rovers 4–1 at Oakwell in a thrilling second half display.
Waring was born in Chester and began his career at his local club Chester City before joining Everton at the age of 14. At the age of 16 he scored the winning goal for Everton U18s in the final of the U18s Premier League Cup. He signed for Stoke City in April 2013. Waring began the 2013–14 season with the U21s and scored four goals against West Bromwich Albion on 5 September 2013. However, he missed the rest of the campaign due to injury, returning in June 2014 to play in the Altstatten International Tournament. On 8 January 2015, Waring joined League One side Barnsley on a one-month loan. He made his professional debut on 10 January 2015 against Yeovil Town, scoring his first professional goal in a 2–0 victory. On 2 February 2015, after an impressive initial loan spell, Waring's loan at Barnsley was extended until the end of the 2014–15 season. Waring had a successful spell with the Tykes, scoring six times in 19 appearances as the team finished in 11th position.
Speaking in December 2004, manager Paul Hart said that "it's slightly too early to say whether he'll stay as a centre- half or return to midfield in his career", but was able to say that Kay had "shown that when he is concentrating he is as good as anybody" in both defence and midfield. He scored six goals from 43 appearances in the 2004–05 campaign as Barnsley posted a 13th-place finish. He played 45 times in the 2005–06 season, and scored the fourth and final Barnsley penalty in the play-off final penalty shoot-out victory over Swansea City at the Millennium Stadium, in which Andy Ritchie's "Tykes" gained promotion to the Championship. He played 33 matches in the 2006–07 season as Barnsley retained their second tier status with a 20th-place finish, but was rumoured to have had a bust-up with manager Simon Davey in February, and his future with the club was put into doubt three months later after he allegedly broke club rules.
After joining Saracens' academy system in 1999 Skirving worked his way through the club's development sides before making his first team debut against Leeds Tykes in the final fixture of 2002. There were to be a handful of further first team appearances in the 2002–03 season both in the starting line up and from the bench. Places in the starting line up were hard to come by in the succeeding two seasons, with competition from established players such as Taine Randell, however Skirving appeared with increasing regularity from the replacements bench, giving him the opportunity to make his mark as an emerging talent. Further international recognition came at the end of the 2004–05 season, where his pace brought him a place in the England Sevens squad. The 2005–06 season was set fair for Skirving to establish himself at the top level, making regular first team starting appearances and scoring his maiden try in the top flight. Further success came in the form of a debut at England 'A' level in February 2006, before a shoulder injury cut short his season.
He went on to liken the "jugular-directed guitar attacks" to that of their debut album, but also noted a distinct change "of a band trying new moves and a richer sound". This change of sound was also noted by Mark Sutherland, writing for the NME in April 1996, who stated that "the Sheds have rocketed on so far from '94's 'Change Giver', they could actually rewrite the traditional album reviewers lexicon" and went on to compare the band to The Stone Roses; > Certainly, the tough, ultra-confident, tune-stuffed 'outfit' here are, > Witter's emotional foghorn vocals apart, barely recognisable from the > scruffy tykes on the flashy, but ultimately unsatisfying, 'Change Giver'. > Indeed, parts of it are good enough to pass as someone else's second album: > chiefly, the record The Stone Roses should have made instead of 'The Second > Coming'. Writing for The Guardian in April 1996, Caroline Sullivan labelled A Maximum High "good, but not outstanding", as she praised guitarist Paul Banks's "exultant jangling", but found fault with the album's lyrical content.
Throughout 2015 and into 2016, the majority of the original programs produced for Esquire Network ended up being low-rated, with only the youth football reality series Friday Night Tykes and the network's Men in Blazers–produced live broadcasts of Pamplona's running of the bulls receiving any critical acclaim or notice, with the rest of its lineup being criticized for "copycat" formats of better programming found on other networks or produced independently for streaming video providers such as YouTube and Vimeo, and not being talked about outside of their premieres or notice of cancellation. Due to this, the network began to carry more repeats of existing library series, which again brought the network towards the same issues befalling G4 and Cloo, where little original content being produced made it a network viewers and providers claimed provided little value for its monthly carriage fees. On October 1, 2016, Dish Network removed the channel from the lineup. As with their earlier dropping of Cloo, the provider stated that most of the network's rerun-centric programming was duplicative of that available on other networks, streaming services, and the broadcast Ion Television network.
The badge used by Worcester Warriors until 2008 Worcester Warriors were promoted to the (then Zurich) Premiership after winning National Division One in 2003–04 with a perfect record of 26 wins from 26 games, something that had never before been achieved. They were the bookies', and many of the rugby pundits' odds-on-favourites to go straight back down but defied the odds to stay in the Premiership for another season, finishing ninth in the league, after wins against teams including Harlequins, Leeds, a historic victory against Premiership Champions London Wasps and Northampton in a 'winner takes all' end of season finale, which they won 21–19. This match was shown live with more twists and turns off the pitch as well as on it, with then Northampton player, Shane Drahm, who had signed for Worcester eventually starting, and successfully kicking almost everything, after press releases by Northampton stating that he would be a substitute. In the 2004–05 season, despite Premiership survival being their ultimate aim, they reached the final of the defunct European Shield at Oxford's Kassam Stadium, after beating Leeds Tykes in the semi-final.
At Newport Gwent Dragons, after making his début against Glasgow Warriors he went on to make just a further seven appearances but it was a frustrating time for Hinton, and he registered just one try and two conversions in his spell in Wales. In his first season with the Tykes, Hinton finished the season as top points scorer in National Division One. Hinton was one of the stars of the failing Leeds Carnegie side that were relegated from the Premiership 2007/2008, and stayed loyal to Leeds when staying on at the club for a second stint in the first division. Hinton has just brought up 400 points for Leeds with a try against Plymouth Albion at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. Hinton joined National Division 3 Midlands side Rugby Lions in 2011, as one of many major signings by the club, to help with their ambitions of reaching the Premiership within 5 seasons under new owner Mike Aland. He reached the 200-point landmark in his 13th appearance of the 2011-12 season against Broadstreet, the team he also hit the 300-point mark against on 14 April.
