In the mid-1980s regional airlines began operations under the general aegis of CAAC.
They include three courses: post-secondary, upper-secondary and general courses. Schools with the post-secondary course for graduates who finish senior high schools and people with equivalent educational backgrounds are called as special training colleges. The upper-secondary course is that for graduates from junior high schools and everyone can enter the general course. The latter is near current miscellaneous schools.
One World University (ISET/OWU Instituto Superior de Educacao e Technologia) was created by Humana People to People together with government of Mozambique with a goal to provide bachelor-level education to teachers, who should be then able to train primary school teachers (most of them work in Humana People to People's Teacher Training colleges in Mozambique, Malawi, Angola and India).
It has a fully functional university but its teachers' colleges have been turned into FETs (Further Education and Training) colleges. The university was called "Uniqwa" under the University of the North before 1994 but has then been incorporated into the University of the Free State (UFS) and renamed "UFS QwaQwa Campus". The bantustan of QwaQwa had only one district in 1991, Witsieshoek, with a population of 342,886.
Four teacher training colleges (Melbourne, Burwood, Bendigo and Warrnambool) were chosen to provide the training programs. A course planning committee was established and drew up a set of principles and a course content outline for a 20-day, one day per week special assistance training course. Bentley ran for the provincial legislature in the 2003 general election, contesting the riding of London West as a Liberal. He was successful, defeating incumbent Progressive Conservative Bob Wood by over 10,000 votes. The Liberals won the election, and Bentley was appointed Minister of Labour on October 23, 2003. After a cabinet shuffle on June 29, 2005, he was named as Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities.

His administration supervised orderly elections for the Nigerian Second Republic in 1979, handing over to the elected governor Tatari Ali on 1 October 1979.
A feature of the Chinese legal training system is the network of specialized on-job internal training colleges and centers. The Supreme People's Court administers two training institutes: the National Judges College and the SPC Spare-time University, both located in Beijing. Its trainees are mostly judges or incoming judges. Starting from 2003, however, receiving a diploma from these institutions will no longer be sufficient.

Merrilee Fullerton is a Canadian politician and physician who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 2018 general election. She represents the riding of Kanata-Carleton as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario. From June 29, 2018 until June 20, 2019 Fullerton was named as Minister of Training, Colleges, and Universities. Since June 20, 2019 Fullerton has served as the Minister of Long-Term Care.

From 1877 to 1883, Fitch performed ordinary official duties as inspector of East Lambeth. In 1883, he became chief inspector of schools for the eastern division, including all the eastern counties from Lincoln to Essex. From 1885 to 1889, he was inspector of elementary training colleges for women in England and Wales. He was continued in this post till 1894, five years beyond the normal age of retirement from government service.
In many countries, Initial Teacher Education (also known as preservice teacher training) takes place largely or exclusively in institutions of Higher Education. In countries like Sri Lanka there are separate institutes called National colleges of Education to provide pre- service teacher training while Teacher Training Colleges provide in-service teacher education. Further institutes called Teacher Centers provide continuing professional development for teachers. It may be organized according to two basic models.
Local schools were used for teaching and several large houses in Headingley were used to house students. In 1916 the War Office took over the whole college for the hospital which remained open until 1924. The college trained men and women but was not co- educational as men and women were taught separately. Out of 170 teacher training colleges it was one of only five that was mixed.

College of technology is special educational system which secondary and tertiary educations intermingle. Graduates from the school are equivalent to graduates from a junior college. Whilst special training colleges are not "schools" by the law, they are schools in public view.
At the same time, a training school for nursery nurses was started. In 1924 Mrs Elizabeth Mitchison passed the lease on the building to the nearby St. Thomas' Hospital in Waterloo in memory of her son, Lieutenant Anthony Mitchison. The hospital was then renamed 'St Thomas's Cornwall Babies' Hostel. It was renamed again in 1927 as the St Thomas's Babies Hospital, becoming affiliated to the Association of Nursery Training Colleges.

Potential students applied direct to each one and could receive an unlimited number of offers of places. Herzog College is named for Yaakov Herzog, an Israeli diplomat, scholar and son of Israel's second Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi, Yitzhak HaLevi Herzog. The college is approved by the Council for Higher Education in Israel and offers fully accredited Bachelor of Education and Master of Education degrees in 20 subject tracks. The college president is Rabbi Professor Yehuda Brandes. Herzog has over 3,500 students, making it one of Israel's largest teacher training colleges.
Trainee teachers at the college in Salatiga, Java, Indonesia (October 5, 1929) In Malaysia, the Ministry of Education runs a total of 27 Institutes of Teacher Education (ITEs), which were formerly known as Teacher Training Colleges. These ITEs function primarily to educated both undergraduate and postgraduate teacher trainees. The ministry bureau responsible for overseeing them is the Teacher Education Division. The ITEs also run in-service teacher training and continuous professional development among qualified teachers.
Linköping University was established in 1975. In 1977 former teacher training colleges in Linköping and Norrköping were transferred to Linköping University and in 1986 the Faculty of Health Sciences was formed, based on the faculty of medicine and regional funded education in health care professions. In 1997 a campus was opened in the neighbouring city of Norrköping. The renowned Carl Malmsten School of Furniture (Malmstens Linköping University) has been part of Linköping University since 2000.
The name was considered to better reflect the diversity of geographic sciences taught at the NSLSI. In 1988, the provincial government undertook a much-needed reform to its training colleges and created the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) system the following year. While still a separate college, COGS was administratively placed within the NSCC umbrella. In 1998 NSCC created the Annapolis Valley Campus by administratively combining the geographically separate campuses at Lawrencetown and Middleton.

The main education institutions were started or sponsored by the Catholic, the Methodist and the Presbyterian Churches. The Greater Meru has numerous institutions of learning including primary schools, secondary schools, teacher training colleges, nursing schools, technical institutes and Universities. One of the most prestigious chartered private university in Kenya, KEMU was the first to be established in the area in 2006.
The Disruption of 1843, which created the breakaway Free Church of Scotland, fragmented the kirk school system. By May 1847 it was claimed that 500 schools had been built, along with two teacher training colleges and a ministerial training college. The influx of large numbers of Irish immigrants in the nineteenth century led to the establishment of Catholic schools. Attempts to supplement the parish system included Sunday schools, mission schools, ragged schools, Bible societies and improvement classes.
The Ministry of Education made the decision to reject some Teacher Training Colleges in Ghana in 1971 and Dzodze Training College was one of them. Students of the training college were transferred to the Akatsi Teacher Training College, and only the last batch of teachers were left. Admission of secondary school students began in the 1971–1972 academic year. Eng Abner Nangwale (1932 – January 17, 2013) was a Ugandan politician and member of the Uganda People's Congress. He served as the Minister of Works within the administration of President Milton Obote from 1980 until July 1985. As Minister, Nangwale expanded the government's efforts to provide free, universal education to Ugandan students. Nangwale led the construction of several new Teachers Training Colleges (TTC), now called as Parents Teachers Colleges (PTCs), to train new Ugandan teachers and educators.
Joint Examining Board (JEB) was founded in 1912 by J. H. Pitman (of Pitman shorthand fame), JEB offers a range of up to date qualifications to support ICT teaching and the skills development of staff in FE, schools, and other organisations. JEB uses Distance Learning to deliver its course material. A number of training colleges in the UK and Ireland run specific courses aimed at facilitating students attaining the JEB qualifications. JEB is part of the JHP Group.
The college later changed from a two-year Certificate 'B' to a four-year Certificate 'A' in 1965. On 22 September 1966, Mr. J.O.T Ansah B.A (Hons) D.A, E.d succeeded Rev. Yamoah as principal. In the 1972/73 Academic year where a number of Training Colleges in the country were converted into secondary schools, Osei Tutu Training College was affected and had to be run as a dual institution until the Training College component was phased out.
The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program consists of a unique combination of Community College Trades Training and a Secondary School Cooperative Education Program. Students are registered as apprentices with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) and attend the college one to three days per week. By the end of the semester, they can earn their Basic - Level One Trade Qualifications in that program. The student remains an OYAP Apprentice until the end of the semester.
The city of Puerto Montt, at the centre of the newly settled lands, was named after him. He governed Chile and laid the foundation of her modern economy. He was assisted by his minister of the interior Antonio Varas, and it was from the union of the two statesmen that the well-known ultra-conservative faction, the Montt-Varistas, took their name. The college is exempted from registration as legally required by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
David Winsor Piccini is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 2018 provincial election. He represents the riding of Northumberland—Peterborough South as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario. Piccini is a member of the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs and serves as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities. In 2015, Piccini ran in Ottawa-Vanier for the Conservative Party of Canada but finished third.

In 1988 the Kitwe campus was upgraded and renamed the Copperbelt University, offering business studies, industrial studies and environmental studies. Other tertiary-level institutions established during Kaunda's era were vocationally focused and fell under the aegis of the Department of Technical Education and Vocational Training. They include the Evelyn Hone College of Applied Arts and Commerce and the Natural Resources Development College (both in Lusaka), the Northern Technical College at Ndola, the Livingstone Trades Training Institute in Livingstone, and teacher-training colleges.
In April 1961, with financial assistance from the Ford Foundation and technical assistance from the British Broadcasting Corporation, NBC began the National School Broadcasting Service in April 1961. The NBC Schools unit broadcast lessons in various school subjects for primary and secondary schools, as well as special programs for teacher training colleges. The Schools unit was based in Ibadan. The NBC and the Broadcasting Corporation of Northern Nigeria (BCNN) were merged in 1978 to become the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).
The University of Otago in New Zealand. The constituent colleges of the former University of New Zealand (such as Canterbury University College) have become independent universities. Some halls of residence associated with New Zealand universities retain the name of "college", particularly at the University of Otago (which although brought under the umbrella of the University of New Zealand, already possessed university status and degree awarding powers). There are a variety of other formations on the base such as training colleges and maintenance areas. Amberley's largest squadron in terms of personnel is No. 382 Expeditionary Combat Support Squadron RAAF (ECSS) providing both garrison and deployed combat support. Amberley was one of only two airfields in Australia (the other being Darwin International Airport) that were listed as a Transoceanic Abort (TOA) landing site for the Space Shuttle. Amberley is currently undergoing a A$64 million dollar re-development program.
The Government College of Education is an educational institution for teacher education of North India. It is located in sector 20 of Chandigarh, Punjab, India. Government College of Education, previously known as Government Post- Graduate Basic Training College, was founded in August 1954 under a special scheme of Government of India in the Second Five-Year Plan for establishment of training colleges for teachers at the post-graduate level. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited Grade ‘A’ to this College.
The Franciscan Brothers came to Mountbellew from Milltown, Dublin, in 1818. The Bellew family invited them and gave them resources of land and a house to get established. The Brothers ran a free primary school until 1884. In 1875 they opened a secondary school (boarding) and in 1898 a special department in the school was set up to prepare students for Teacher Training Colleges. The Brothers changed from secondary education to agricultural education in 1904 and the Franciscan Brothers’ Agricultural College was founded.
Barclay Godfrey Buxton MC (7 January 1895 –1986) was a casualty of World War I, who compensated for his inability to follow the family tradition of missionary service by founding and running missionary training colleges. Buxton was the son of Reverend Barclay Buxton, a missionary who co-founded the Japan Evangelical Band, and Margaret Maria Amelia Railton. He was the great- grandson of Sir Thomas Buxton, 1st Baronet the abolitionist and social reformer. He was educated at Repton School, and Trinity College, Cambridge.
The Machakos Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private institute in Machakos, Eastern Province, Kenya. MIT has six schools with an emphasis on social work, community development, and scientific and technological research. MIT was founded in 2008 in response to the expansion in primary and secondary education in Kenya and a lack of corresponding increase in mid-level training colleges and universities. This led to the inability of majority of KCSE school leavers to access training, leading to a huge training gap.
The second Blaagaard Seminarium shortly after the inauguration of its new building in Blaagaardsgade in 1863 Blaagaard Seminarium (also spelled Blågård Seminarium) has been the name of two teacher training colleges both originating in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. The first of them, which was the first teacher training college in Denmark, changed its name to Jonstrup Seminarium in 1808. The second one was founded in 1859. They merged in 1992 and are now part of University College Capital (UCC).
This did not go over well with civil rights groups, and by 1964 Conant was forced to admit that he had been wrong. In The Education of American Teachers in 1963, Conant found much to criticize about the training of teachers. Most controversial was his defense of the arrangement by which teachers were certified by independent bodies rather than the teacher training colleges. President Lyndon Johnson presented Conant with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, with special distinction, on December 6, 1963.
The government largely funds basic education comprising public primary schools and public junior high schools. Senior high schools were subsidised by the government until September 2017/2018 academic year that senior high education became free. At the higher education level, the government funds more than 80% of resources provided to public universities, polytechnics and teacher training colleges. As part of the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education, Fcube, the government supplies all basic education schools with all their textbooks and other educational supplies like exercise books.
The teacher training course, which had been a 2-year course, was lengthened to three years in 1974. In 1975 reforms in the education system in Ireland saw Carysfort become a recognised college of the National University of Ireland along with other teacher training colleges such as Mary Immaculate College in Limerick and St. Patrick's Training College, Drumcondra. These reforms saw Carysfort and other institutions award the BEd Degree for their teacher training programmes, in 1977. The college also offered a postgraduate qualification in primary school teaching.

Niagara University also offers programs in Canada which operate under the written consent of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities of Ontario. The Niagara University in Ontario, located in Vaughan, offers a Bachelor's degree in Professional Studies in Education program (accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers) and the Master of Science degree in Education.

In 1970 an observatory was built on the Bayfordbury Campus. Wall Hall and Balls Park Teacher Training Colleges merged in 1976 to become Hertfordshire College of Higher Education. In the same year Hatfield Polytechnic took over Balls Park. By 1977 more than ten per cent of the 4000 came from more than forty different countries.
This led to the first celebration of the first yam festival in NNewi in 1932 known as Afia-Olu. In the 1999 provincial election, Gill ran for the Ontario Progressive Conservatives in the riding of Bramalea--Gore-- Malton--Springdale, which has a large Indian-Canadian community. The riding is located in the "905 region", which at the time was a primary base of support for the Ontario Tories. Gill was elected, defeating Liberal Dave Toor by about 4,000 votes. During his time in government he served as Parliamentary assistant to several ministers including the Minister of Labour and to the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities.

The former is managed by Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Bathery diocese while the latter is under the District Educational Officer, Wayanad.
Teacher training colleges at the time were suffering from job losses, and Driver therefore spent much of the next couple of years supporting redundant lecturers in teacher training. Following his retirement in 1978, Driver was active in the pensioners' movement and sided with the Morning Star during the CPGB split of the 1980s. In 1977, Driver was made a Fellow of the Educational Institute of Scotland. He was also made an honorary fellow of the Sheffield City Polytechnic and of the North East London Polytechnic.

Many children of poorer families leave school after grade 6 (age 12) to work on the farms. A number move to areas of dense or tourist populations to work in the service industry. Many primary schools operate their own websites and almost all schoolchildren in Isan, at least from junior high school age, are now (2008) largely computer literate in basic programs. In 2001, there were 43 government vocational and polytechnic colleges throughout the region, several specialised training colleges in the private sector, and large colleges of agriculture and nursing in Udon Thani Province.

The Florida Division of State Fire Marshal (SFM) is located within the Department of Financial Services, where Florida's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) also serves as Florida's State Fire Marshal. The SFM office serves local fire departments who request assistance with conducting fire investigations and provides fire training colleges throughout the state. It is headquartered in Tallahassee, with numerous field offices located across the state.Statutes The investigators working for the SFM office are sworn law enforcement officers, with powers to make arrests, conduct searches and seizures, serve summonses, and carry firearms.
At the end of the third year of junior high, there is a mandatory "Basic Education Certificate Examination". Those continuing must complete the 4-year senior high school programme (which has been changed to three years) and take an admission exam to enter any university or tertiary programme. The Ghanaian education system from nursery school up to an undergraduate degree level takes 20 years. In 2005, Ghana had 12,130 primary schools, 5,450 junior secondary schools, 503 senior secondary schools, 21 public training colleges, 18 technical institutions, two diploma-awarding institutions and 6 universities.
On graduating from the Junior High School, children typically attend one of the secondary schools, called senior high schools, in Sekyere South District, although many leave the area entirely to attend school in Kumasi, Accra, or other big cities and towns in Ghana. Richard Aldrich and Peter Gordon, Dictionary of British Educationists, p.110 Heller became the full-time secretary of the NUET in 1873 and, in this role, campaigned for and end to payment by results, for improved training for teachers, with teacher training colleges to be linked to universities, and for teaching to become a profession with legal registration. He campaigned for the establishment of a pension scheme for teachers, and also edited the annual New Code for Day Schools publication. In 1874, he was elected to the London School Board.
St Katharine's College, the College of All Saints, and Middlesex Polytechnic The original site on which Haringey Sixth Form College today stands was originally home to St Katharine's College, one of the first British teacher training colleges. The St Katharine's College building was constructed in 1878 under the watch of architect Sir Arthur W. Blomfield. St Katharine's College later became the College of All Saints, a Church of England college of higher education and a constituent college of the Institute of Education, University of London. The University of Cape Coast is a public collegiate research university located in Cape Coast, Ghana. The university was established in 1962 out of a dire need for highly qualified and skilled manpower in education. It was established to train graduate teachers for second cycle institutions such as teacher training colleges and technical institutions, a mission that the two existing public universities at the time were unequipped to fulfil. The university has since added to its functions the training of doctors and health care professionals, as well as education planners, administrators, legal professionals, and agriculturalists.
In the Education Ridge neighbourhood in the north-western part of the town and covering an area around 3 km2, 20 schools ranging from kindergartens through junior high and senior high schools, teachers' training colleges, the Tamale Technical University, and a university are located. The numerous trees lining the streets in this part of the town give it a tropical rainforest outlook. The University for Development Studies (UDS) has two campuses located in Tamale and one in nearby Nyankpala. The headquarters of the UDS is also located in Tamale.

Liverpool Hope University is a public university with campuses in Liverpool, England. ‌The university grew out of three Christian teacher training colleges: Saint Katharine's College (originally Warrington Training College), Notre Dame College, and Christ's College. Uniquely in European higher education the university has an ecumenical tradition, with Saint Katharine's College having been Anglican and Notre Dame and Christ's both Catholic. The Anglican Bishop of Liverpool David Sheppard and the Catholic Archbishop of Liverpool Derek Worlock (who give their names to the university's Sheppard- Worlock Library) played a prominent role in its formation.

The tertiary sector of education is operated by the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education which includes universities, technical, polytechnic and teacher training colleges and various vocational training centers. Tertiary education was first introduced to Zimbabwe in 1957 by the University College of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, now known as the University of Zimbabwe. The nation's independency in 1980 expanded the University of Zimbabwe's enrollment from 2,240 to 9,017 by 1990. The National Council for Higher Education was established in 1990 as a measure of quality insurance of higher education in Zimbabwe.
He established over 600 new secondary schools, and abolished secondary school fees. Then between 1946 and 1947, the name of the school was changed to ‘Porth Secondary Grammar School’. Sometime between 1951 and 1954 the name of the school was changed again to ‘Porth County Grammar Mixed School’. At some point in time the grammar school was split in two sections, one half being known as ‘Porth County Girls’ and the other half being known as ‘Porth County Boys’.
African Revival has worked in South Sudan since 2005 through long term partners The Brickworks and Fields of Life. Through partnership African Revival has supported schools and teacher training colleges in Yei, Kajo Keji, Ibba and Maridi. Due to conflict in recent years a number of projects had been put on hold, instead supporting South Sudanese refugees at both community schools in the Koboko District, and through temporary schools in refugee camps. In 2019 African Revival returned to South Sudan beginning a series of construction projects at 5 primary schools in Maridi State.
To direct the scheme, the Training College Delagacy was established, composed of representatives of the university, the teacher training colleges, religious denominations and local authorities. The functional units were operated by committees such as the Academic Board, Faculty Boards, Planning and Standing Committees, Committee of Deans. 1970 saw the opening of the New School of Art and Design, opened by Sir Charles Wheeler. Mergers with Teacher Training Colleges in Wolverhampton and Dudley in the 1970s added to the expansion of the Polytechnic, with additional growth in 1989 on Walsall Campus when the Polytechnic acquired the Teacher Training College ( West Midlands College of Higher Education ) site. The Polytechnic changed its name to Wolverhampton Polytechnic in 1988.
However, progress is now being made in this area. Distinctions can be made between hypnotherapy bodies affiliated to training colleges and those not affiliated - and between commercially operated organisations and professional membership associations or societies that are "not-for-profit" and are owned and operated by the members - and are required to publish accounts - and between those that are owned and operated by individuals (sole traders). In 1944 a report was produced by the Board of Education on the emergency recruitment and training of teachers, and it was decided that there were to be several new training colleges set up. These colleges were to be staffed by lecturers seconded from local authorities, with mature students selected from National Service conscripts. In 1945 the theological college, which was no longer required by the Wesleyans, was leased to the Manchester Education Authority,. The new emergency training college was officially opened on 31 January 1946, with Alfred Body as its first principal.

Henry Sidgwick, co-founder with Browning of the CUDTC The Education Act, 1880 introduced compulsory education for children aged between five and ten. This greatly increased the demand for teachers, and created a need for a better trained and more attractive teaching profession. Among the initiatives designed to meet this need was a government Code of Regulation issued in 1890, which led to the establishment of university-based day training colleges. On 12 March 1891 Browning and his colleague Henry Sidgwick presented the Cambridge University Senate with a proposal to establish in Cambridge a Day Training College for elementary school teachers.
The Polytechnics Central Admissions System (PCAS ) was an administrative body handling admissions in England and Wales to most courses at polytechnics and some other higher education institutions for the entry years 1986 to 1992. It ran in parallel to the university admissions system, UCCA, as well as the Central Register and Clearing House, which dealt with teacher-training applications to both polytechnics and specialist teacher training colleges, and ADAR which originally handled art and design course admissions to both polytechnics and specialist art and design colleges. All these admissions systems are now united within the UCAS admissions system.
Central Johannesburg College (CJC) is a South African college founded in September 2001, with the official declaration Technical Colleges into Further Education and Training Colleges made by the Minister of Education, Kader Asmal. In 2011, Partners in Research was awarded a nearly million dollar grant from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario to teach southern Ontarian students about careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.Government of Canada Supports Science and Tech Programming for Southern Ontario Youth Partners in Research hosts a national annual awards reception and ceremony entitled The PIR National Awards to celebrate Canadian research in the STEM fields. If the anomaly remains unresolved, the chairperson may investigate the matter and issue a final decision. The Selection Board submits to the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities lists of successful and unsuccessful candidates for each of the doctoral, master's, and student visa classes, as well as a reversion list for each class. The ministry notifies successful applicants by mid-April, to which it must receive a complete Notice of Acceptance from the student by the end of June. In part to balance democratic representation against the economic and political power of these corporations, the region hosted industrial labor organization, consolidated agricultural cooperatives and state educational systems. The Big Ten Conference memorializes the nation's first region in which every state sponsored major research, technical-agricultural, and teacher-training colleges and universities. The Congress of Industrial Organizations grew out of the region's coal and iron mines; steel, automobile and rubber industries; and breakthrough strikes and contracts of Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan.

Trinity and All Saints College, 1999 Leeds Trinity opened in 1966 as two Roman Catholic teacher training colleges for Yorkshire - Trinity College for women and All Saints College for men. At the time there was a great demand for new teachers in Britain due to the post- war baby boom. Trinity College was composed of three residential halls to accommodate the female students: Shrewsbury (named after the birthplace of Elizabeth Prout), Whitby (Saint Hilda, who was Abbess of Whitby), and Norwich (Julian of Norwich). Located near these halls was a convent occupied by the Sisters of the Cross and Passion.
In 1998, she supported Hugh Segal for the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. In the provincial election of 1999, Cunningham narrowly defeated New Democratic Party Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Marion Boyd in the redistributed riding of London North Centre (the Harris government had previously reduced the number of provincial ridings from 130 to 103, forcing many MPPs to run against one another). Following the election, she was promoted to Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities, and retained that portfolio for the next four years. She was also re-appointed as Minister responsible for Women's Issues on February 8, 2001.
His service in central Thailand teaching English in two different teacher-training colleges heightened his interest in both language- learning and language-teaching. On his return to the US, he received a grant from the East-West Center, and enrolled as a graduate student at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, where he began the serious study of Mandarin Chinese. The institution currently known as Moray House was originally opened as a normal school following the Disruption of 1843. Known as The Free Church of Scotland’s Normal and Sessional School, it was originally located in Whitefield Chapel, and then in rooms below the Music Room in Rose Street. In 1848, the school moved to its current location in Moray House, in the Canongate. In 1907, this institution merged with its Church of Scotland equivalent (the Church of Scotland Training College), and the Edinburgh Provincial Training Centre was formed; with the church training colleges subsumed within this organisation.
In 1927, the Milwaukee normal school changed its name to Wisconsin State Teachers College-Milwaukee in an effort by the State Normal School Regents to refocus on the instruction of teachers. The college became one of the nation's top teacher's training colleges in the 1940s. In 1951, the Legislature empowered all state colleges to offer liberal arts programs. The Milwaukee State Teachers College subsequently became Wisconsin State College–Milwaukee, but was still casually referred to as "Milwaukee State," as it had been throughout its previous incarnations; also retaining the green and white school colors and Green Gulls mascot.
In October 1994, Paramanga Ernest Yonli was appointed, in addition to his role as researcher, as Director General of the National Fund for the Promotion of Employment (F.A.P.E.). He was tasked with reorganising this body, which is aimed at promoting the self-employment of graduates from the country's universities and professional training colleges. Upon receiving further funding, Yonli extended the Fund to craftsmen and to the informal sector. He simultaneously decentralised the Fund, opening branches in Burkina Faso's ten main towns after Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso, thus also demonstrating his sense of innovation and openness to modernisation.
On 18 January 1964, the Ministry of Education resolved to create branches of the Bangkok's College of Education in each region of the country. On 25 January 1967, the Phitsanulok campus was established as the fourth branch of the College of Education and was meant to serve mainly the northern provinces. In 1974 the College of Education was upgraded to university status and was named Srinakharinwirot University. Originally, only the third and fourth years of university study were offered at Phitsanulok, and students were admitted by competitive examination after completing the curriculum at one of the nation's associate degree level teacher training colleges.
Edwin Johnson (1835-1894) was an Australian schoolteacher and civil servant. Born in Liverpool, England in 1835, he was apprenticed as a pupil-teacher at the age of 14 and in 1854 at the age of 19, accepted an offer of employment in New South Wales. Moving quickly through the ranks, he became headmaster of a Deniliquin model school in 1861 and inspector of schools in the Hunter River District in 1863. Johnson advocated reforms to the education system including creative teaching methods rather than rote learning, the introduction of infant schools and residential teacher training colleges.
Cricket was handed over to Ghana in the early days of then the Gold Cost during the rule of its colonial masters the British and played its first international game against Nigeria in 1904. It is known that after the 2nd World War the game grew from there and spread through expatriates and further local citizens in the mining sector. On April 18, 2015, Humber College opened Humber Learning Resource Commons (LRC) which serves as the new main entrance for the campus. The 264,000-square-foot building has six floors and features a student gallery and commons, a new library, enhanced student services, the Registrar’s Office, Student Recruitment, Student Success & Engagement, the International Centre, the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences and administrative offices. The building was designed by B+H Architects and it cost $79 million to build, $74.5 million of which were funded by Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation located at Humber College North Campus.
Higher education in Ontario includes postsecondary education and skills training regulated by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities and provided by universities, colleges of applied arts and technology, and private career colleges. The minister is Merrilee Fullerton. The ministry administers laws covering 22 public universities, 24 public colleges (21 Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology (CAATs) and three Institutes of Technology and Advanced Learning (ITALs)), 17 privately funded religious universities, and over 500 private career colleges. The Canadian constitution provides each province with the responsibility for higher education and there is no corresponding national federal ministry of higher education.
At the 10-12 level there are four job-training colleges located at Goslar in crafts, economics, and care for the elderly for students from Goslar district and beyond. There are two public vocational schools offering part-time education within the German dual vocational education and training system and full-time education. BBS 1 Goslar -Am Stadtgarten- is focused on education in business administration, economics, health services and information and communications technology (ICT). BBS Goslar- Baßgeige/Seesen is concentrated on education in mechanical, electrical and textile engineering; natural sciences: chemistry, physics, biology; food services, domestic science and industry and administration.
After rolling back some of the ANC's more ambitious education policies to make his brief more realistic, he managed to introduce some of the most significant and far-reaching changes to the country's education system in its history. One of his most controversial moves as Minister of Education was to threaten South African universities with quotas if they failed to apply affirmative action policies to their students and staff. Asmal decide to close down all Teacher Training Colleges as well as certain Technical Colleges. Outcome-based education was introduced during his tenure, and scrapped a few years later.
Tatsuruhama High School has specialised Nursing and Welfare courses. Students who complete 3rd year high school (12th year of schooling) can go on to either further study in Welfare training colleges, or continue through the school's own speciality training course (専攻) at Noto General Hospital (能登総合病院) for a further two years to become a fully qualified nurse. There is an onsite dormitory for 50 students, and the school used to be a girls-only school, but has recently opened its doors to male students also (the school's population of male students remains fairly low).

Arthur and the other missionaries recognised that the KCA had a major role in fomenting the circumcision controversy, and so demanded that Presbyterian Christians not only publicly renounce FGM, but the KCA as well. However, the KCA had a strong grip on many within the church. About half of the Kikuyu members left the Church of Scotland and formed Independent African churches, with attendant institutions such as teacher training colleges, the latter becoming fertile recruiting and training grounds for the KCA.
Chakma's pay was a result of "double-dipping," allowing him to collect a second full salary for choosing to work during his paid administrative leave. On March 30, 2015, Member of Provincial Parliament for London-West, Peggy Sattler asked in the Provincial Parliament question period whether the government would prohibit university boards of governors from negotiating similar double payouts to university presidents. Training, Colleges and Universities Minister Reza Moridi replied that a bill had been passed the previous year allowing public sector executive compensation to be capped, but that Chakma's contract was signed before this legislation came into force.
The University of the South Pacific, called the crossroads of the South Pacific because it serves ten English speaking territories in the South Pacific, is the major provider of higher education. Admission to the university requires a secondary school diploma, and all students must take a one-year foundation course at the university regardless of their major. Financing for the university is derived from school fees, funds from the Fiji government and other territories, and aid from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United Kingdom. In addition to the university, Fiji also has teacher-training colleges, as well as medical, technological, and agricultural schools.
These are complemented by public teacher-training colleges and several private universities and technical colleges. As a result of increased educational access, enrollment rates more than doubled between 1996 and 2006. However, education quality is weak, producing high rates of grade repetition and dropout. Education policy in Ravalomanana's second term focused on quality issues, including an increase in minimum education standards for the recruitment of primary teachers from a middle school leaving certificate (BEPC) to a high school leaving certificate (BAC), and a reformed teacher training program to support the transition from traditional didactic instruction to student-centered teaching methods to boost student learning and participation in the classroom.
Until 1976, three separate institutions offered tertiary education in Bedford: Bedford College of Physical Education in Lansdowne Road (Physical Education training), Bedford College of Education in Polhill Avenue (initial teacher training), and Mander College of Further Education in Cauldwell Street. In 1976 these combined to become Bedford College of Higher Education. In 1994 the higher education areas merged with the De Montfort University (based in Leicester) and the further education part became Bedford College, Bedford (but still awarding HNDs and Foundation degrees). The teacher-training colleges left De Montfort in 2006 and merged with the University of Luton which changed its name to University of Bedfordshire.
In 2014, Everest announced the sale of all 14 locations in Canada after a probe by the parent company over concerns of falsified job placement and grades. In February 2015, Canada's National Association of Career Colleges announced that Everest College's Ontario locations had their operating license suspended by Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (Ontario). On February 19, 2015, Ontario's superintendent of private career colleges, the independent regulator that governs schools like Everest and others in the province, said it has suspended the chain's licence to operate in Ontario as a private college, effective immediately. Former students and teachers claim the college was corrupt and a scam.
Sri Gowthami Educational Institutions are being run under "SGURID & ES". The first institution of SGEIs was started in 2000; "Sri Gowthami Junior College" at Darsi in Prakasam district with few rural villages’ students. Later responding to the civic need, SGURID & ES extended its institutional services to further elaboration of establishing Sri Gowthami Degree College in 2005. Understanding the lack of training colleges or institutions for the teaching and educationalist postulants of Darsi and surrounding Mandals, it started "Sri Gowthami College of Education" in 2006, followed by in the year 2010 started Post Graduate College "Sri Gowthami PG College" and in the succeeding year in 2011, SGEIs started PG Course in Mathematics.
The Liberals won the election, and Wynne was appointed parliamentary assistant to Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities Mary Anne Chambers, in October 2003. In October 2004, she was appointed parliamentary assistant to Minister of Education Gerard Kennedy. From June 2005 to November 2005 she served as a member of the Select Committee on Electoral Reform, which recommended "that the referendum be binding upon a vote of 50% + 1, and the support of 50% + 1 in at least two-thirds (i.e., 71) of the ridings or any other formula that ensures the result has support from Northern, rural, and urban areas of the Province", although the cabinet subsequently decided on 100.
The interior of the college chapel, with the college motto above the altar In 1959, Westminster College moved into a set of purpose-built facilities on Harcourt Hill, Oxford, with buildings noted for their fusion of Oxford quads with a "New England" style of architecture, evident particularly in the large and distinctive chapel. Following the move, the college's qualifications were validated by the University of Oxford through its Institute of Education and, later, its Department of Education. Oxford University also had a similar arrangement with other local teacher training colleges. The qualifications included a Certificate in Education, the Bachelor of Education degree, a postgraduate certificate in education, and some supplementary certificates.
West London Institute was created in 1976 from the merger of Borough Road and Maria Grey teacher training colleges and Chiswick Polytechnic. Borough Road College, on the Osterley campus, dated back to 1889 in that location, and to 1798 in its previous home on Borough Road in Southwark. As a College of Higher Education from 1976, West London received funding from local government, and it had to perform adequately in the higher education sector. It was placed under the direction, as Principal, of a sport psychologist and former physical education lecturer, Professor John Kane OBE, and a geographer Murie Robertson, who served as Vice-Principal.
Isaiah Perry was born in "Lawley Bank", Dawley, Shropshire, a son of John Perry. He trained for the ministry at the Richmond Theological College (now Richmond University), then one of four Methodist theological training colleges in England. In 1880, while still in his probationary period, he emigrated to South Australia, where he was hospitably received by John Colton, and conducted services at the Walkerville Methodist church. He subsequently served at Kingston and Archer Street North Adelaide as junior minister, then three years each at Koolunga, Terowie, Maitland, Kadina, Willunga, Quorn, Mount Lofty, Woodville and after an 1897 sojourn in England, served at Payneham for four years, then Mount Gambier.
At the time of the passage of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992, Camborne School of Mines was funded as a polytechnic institution although based on a single set of technologies. In principle, CSM was eligible to be considered for university status alongside the other Polytechnics. The question was raised within the putative Higher Education Funding Council HEFCE and within the Council for National Academic Awards whether or not a mono-technic institution could be considered a university. In this, CSM became the cause célèbre and the argument was applied to other single-discipline institutions such as teacher training colleges, art colleges, business schools and so on.
The group concluded that the idea of creating a French college should be given priority over the college designation plan. The Minister of Colleges and Universities and Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs agreed. In August 1988, the Ontario Cabinet approved, in principle, the creation of a French-language college with an exclusive mandate to deliver services in French. In 1989, the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and the Department of the Secretary of State of Canada arrived at a cost-sharing agreement relating to the establishment of such a college in Eastern Ontario, a college bearing the official name « Collège d’arts appliqués et de technologie La Cité ».
The campus was closed in summer 2005, its programmes of study having moved to the university's other campuses. What was the Tottenham campus started life as St Katharine's College, one of the first British teacher training colleges in 1878, later to become the College of All Saints, a Church of England college of higher education and a constituent college of the Institute of Education, University of London, for whose degrees it taught. The name change was a result of the 1964 union of St Katharine's with Berridge House, Hampstead, on the Tottenham site. The college expanded in the 1960s, although much of the campus retained its Victorian architecture.
Needlework Development Scheme (NDS) was a collaborative program between industry and art education, that was to encourage and initiate a new standard for British embroidery design in both hand and machine work. The organisation was primarily responsible for developing collections of foreign and British embroidery, that could be loaned to training colleges, Women's Institutes, and schools. Started in 1934, the program was originally set up in Scotland by the four Scottish art schools, Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow under the name Needlework Development in Scotland Scheme. The project was a collaborative initiated between industry and art education, that was to encourage British embroidery design.
As these remote villages from Oaş had also served as refuge for many fine intellectuals belonging to the former regime, these political refugees were the first to make known to him the names of the great Romanian writers never mentioned in school or those of important European or American authors and artists. The gains of the years spent in different places from were counterbalanced by the harsh conditions of life and the poverty of the villagers. The improper living conditions and the poor diet affected the feeble young man's health. The occasion to leave was offered by the newly founded teachers training colleges all over the country and he chose to go.

Another seminary, the Basel Mission Seminary (later Presbyterian College of Education) was established in 1848 to train natives in the work of the mission. Later on, the Christiansborg seminary was permanently moved to the Akropong campus and merged with the Basel Mission Seminary there. Upon the opening of the seminary, the Sierra Leonean Pan-Africanist, James Africanus Beale Horton noted that, "it is indeed an academic achievement which can very well hold its own in comparison with European Training Colleges of the period." The school produced teacher- catechists whose roles were pivotal in Christian evangelism as the curriculum grounded students in the theory and practice of general education and pedagogy as well as a classic seminary training.
Lidgett was educated at University College, London, entering in 1873, taking his BA in 1874 and his MA in 1875; he was awarded a DD by the University of Aberdeen on the strength of a book published in 1902, The fatherhood of God. In later life he was closely involved with the University of London, serving on its Senate from 1922 until he retired in 1946 at the age of 92. He served as deputy vice-chancellor and as Vice-Chancellor from 1930 to 1932. He was active in supporting the development of women's colleges and, through his support for the university's relations with teacher training colleges, was instrumental in the foundation of its Institute of Education.
In 1925, the school was registered as a secondary school with the approval of the Department of Education. Many of the students educated at St. Joseph’s from the 1920s onwards entered Teacher Training Colleges or University or went on to work in the Civil Service. During the 1960s, it became increasingly evident that a new school would have to be built as student numbers continued to grow. In an effort to support the work of the Sisters, a Parents Association was formed to raise funds for the building project. A government grant was made available and in 1969 the main block of St. Joseph’s Secondary School, as we know it, was officially opened.
After spending several years in Melbourne, Alpen was appointed director of the Vocal Philharmonic Society in the New South Wales town of Tumut in 1862, and from 1865 was based in Albury. He moved to Sydney in 1880 to work as a singing master for the newly established Department of Public Instruction (now the Department of Education), teaching at Fort Street and Hurlstone teacher training colleges. In 1884 he was appointed Superintendent of Music in the Department. He advocated enlightened modern methods of music teaching for school children, emphasising aural development and sight-singing, and in 1897 he published a treatise, Practical Hints for the Teaching of Vocal Music in Public Schools.
The government expected to spend $100 million on the project, including the installation of a green roof, with the objective of achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold status for the building. It was renovated to be used as offices for four ministries: Ministry of Government Services (in 2014 this Ministry was split into the Ministry of Government & Consumer Services and the Treasury Board Secretariat), Energy and Infrastructure, Research and Innovation, Economic Development and Trade, and Training, Colleges and Universities. The renovation was completed in the fall of 2011. The retrofit was undertaken by WZMH Architects, and is claimed to be as one of the largest retrofit projects in North America.
He played a major role in the Bandaranaike's landslide victory in the 1956 general election. Following the death of Bandaranaike and the political upheaval that followed, Kularatne joined the United National Party. He contested and lost the March 1960 general election from the Ambalangoda electorate, but was elected to the House of Representatives in the July 1960 general election and sat in the opposition. He crossed over and sat as an independent member, having resigned from the United National Party over its opposition to the governments move to take over private schools run by the Church by the Assisted Schools and Training Colleges (Special Provisons) Act No 5 of 1960, which he supported.
It was around this period that one of his brothers arranged for him to have violin lessons. While at senior school, he helped his headmaster teach hymns, anthems and other songs to his school mates for the purposes of important occasions such as Good Friday, Easter, Christmas, Empire Day or school concerts. By standard four (primary 4 or grade 4) he had begun nurturing dreams of becoming a teacher and later a catechist and a religious minister. At the period of his days in primary school, there were no secondary schools or training colleges in the Volta Region, secondary school education in Cape Coast were also beyond the financial means of many parents in the village.
Edith Dircksey Cowan The origins of Edith Cowan University date back to 1902 with the establishment of Claremont Teachers College, the first tertiary education institution in Western Australia. Other teacher training colleges were formed over the years, including Graylands Teachers College (GTC), the Western Australian Secondary Teachers College (WASTC), Nedlands College of Advanced Education (NCAE), Mount Lawley Teachers College (MLTC) and Churchlands Teachers College. In 1982 these colleges were all merged to form the Western Australian College of Advanced Education (WACAE) - with campuses in Churchlands, Nedlands, Claremont, Bunbury and Joondalup. Western Australian College of Advanced Education (WACAE) was granted university status on 1 January 1991 and changed its name to Edith Cowan University.
In 1852, he joined Highschool department of Elphinstone Institute, Bombay and was appointed as an assistant teacher in 1854. He was closely associated with reformist organisations; Gyan Prasarak Sabha and Buddhivardhak Sabha in Bombay. He was later appointed as an acting headmaster at the Ahmedabad High School in 1857 and later made a deputy education inspector there. In 1859, he was appointed as a member of school textbooks committee, the textbooks known by T. C. Hope's name as Hope Series, and was sent to England on 27 March 1860 to experience training colleges by Education Department. After returning on 13 April 1861, he served as a principal of P. R. Training College in Ahmedabad until his retirement.
By the 1980s there were pressures on all the colleges. The missionary colleges were small and expensive to run. Questions were raised about whether training missionaries for countries overseas was better undertaken in those countries rather than the UK. Westhill College—the largest college by far in the federation—was small in comparison to other teacher-training colleges. To get over this, it worked jointly with Newman College, a Roman Catholic teachers training college on a separate campus about two miles away, but full joint-working was not acceptable to the Roman Catholic hierarchy and the collaboration ended after 1992. Westhill’s educational philosophy of child-centred education was out of favour with the government.
The MUT's role as a professional organization, particularly its interest in the professional development of teachers, was evident from the early years of the Union's life. In fact, this was clearly one of the first items on the MUT's agenda and as far back as the early 1920s the MUT highlighted the inadequacies of the training school for teachers of the time and submitted proposals regarding the need of a Chair of Pedagogy at the University of Malta. However, it was only after the war that two well organized training colleges were set up. Eventually these two colleges merged into one Institute and were transferred to the University of Malta under the Faculty of Education in the early 1980s.
Christine Elliot was named as Health Minister in 2018 and kept her post in the June 2019 cabinet shuffle. MPP Merrilee Fullerton, was appointed as Minister of Long-Term Care in June 2019. Robin Martin and Effie Triantafilopoulos were appointed as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care (Long-Term Care) on June 29, 2018. Fullerton had previously served as Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities from June 2018 to June 2019. In July 2018, Premier Ford named Rueben Devlin, an orthopedic surgeon who was CEO of Toronto's Humber River Hospital and a "key Tory adviser"and former Ontario PCs president—to a $348,000 a year three-year appointment on the Council on Improving Healthcare and Ending Hallway Medicine, to curb hospital overcrowding.
He designed houses for London County Council, schools for local authorities and a new hall for Winchester College, teacher training colleges, and buildings for the universities of Keele, Liverpool, Warwick and Oxford, Chelsea College, London, the Open University and the University of Lancaster. He became best known for many landscape projects such as London Zoo, Bessborough Gardens, Bunhill Fields in the City, the restoration of Vanessa Bell's garden at Charleston Farmhouse in Sussex and various gardens in the United States including Central Green at the University of Pennsylvania campus and the Morris Arboretum. Nikolaus Pevsner asked him to illustrate two books on ducks and woodland birds. He also produced all the line drawings for his own books, Modern Gardens (1953) and Gardens (1969).
During the 1940s, CU work began in the Technical Colleges under a subsidiary body, the Inter-Colleges Christian Fellowship (ICCF), and this saw substantial growth with the formation of polytechnics, as a consequence of the increase in full-time students in that sector. Alongside this, the Colleges of Education Christian Unions (CECU) provided a similar function, supporting Christian Unions based in teacher-training colleges. Work in these areas expanded rapidly in the late 1960s and early 1970s, such that by the mid-1970s it represented half the ministry, and resulted in ICCF and CECU merging with IVF to form the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship. A specialist group, the Religious and Theological Students Fellowship (RTSF), who published the journal Themelios, retained a separate identity.
The Wisconsin State Normal School then began to offer education-related four year degrees. In 1927, the Wisconsin State Normal School changed its name to the Wisconsin State Teachers' College-Milwaukee, popularly known as "Milwaukee State." Known for its innovative and experimental programs in teacher education, the Wisconsin State Teacher's College was a national prominence at that time and was considered one of the top teacher training colleges in the nation by the 1940s. In 1951, when the Legislature empowered all state colleges to offer liberal arts programs, Wisconsin State Teachers College-Milwaukee changed its name to Wisconsin State College of Milwaukee, which merged with the University of Wisconsin- Extension's Milwaukee branch five years later to form the present day University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Nation Builders Corps also known as NABCO is an initiative introduced by the government of Ghana to provide jobs to unemployed post secondary school graduates(Universities, Training colleges, etc) to solve various social problems in both the private and public sectors and build their skills to promote economic growth in the country.Trainees of this flagship program are given stipends at the end of every month. In August 2019, as a result of the closure of a number of non performing banks by the Bank of Ghana, trainees whose stipends were paid onto GN Bank's Ezwich cards did not receive their stipends although they worked for the month of August. And have still not been paid nine months on and still counting.

Thames Valley College of Business & IT, also known as Information Technology Business College Inc., is a private career college in London, Ontario, Canada. It reportedly opened in 2003 and is accredited by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, under the Private Career Colleges Act of Ontario. Some references indicate that Information Technology Business College was operational earlier than 2003 Human Resources and Social Development Canada - Grants and Contributions Payments for Fiscal Year 2001-02, Ontario Thames Valley College offers the following accredited Diploma Programs: :Accounting & Payroll Administrator, :Marketing Assistant, :Police Foundations, :Medical Office Administrator, :Office Administration, :Information Technology Technician, :Network Administrator, :Network & Internet Security Specialist, :Legal Administrative Assistant, :Computer Business Applications Specialist, :Website Designer (E-Commerce), and :Web Developer (E-Commerce).
The Afghan Defense University was constructed near Qargha in Kabul. Major universities outside of Kabul include Kandahar University in the south, Herat University in the northwest, Balkh University and Kunduz University in the north, Nangarhar University and Khost University in the east. The United States is building six faculties of education and five provincial teacher training colleges around the country, two large secondary schools in Kabul, and one school in Jalalabad. Kabul University was founded in 1932 and is a respected institute that played a significant part in the country's education; from the 1960s the Kabul University was also a hotbed of radical political ideologies such as Marxism and Islamism, which played major parts in society, politics and the war that began in 1978.
Occasionally detached for special duties in the later period of his public service, he prepared in 1888, after a visit to America, a report on American education under the title Notes on American Schools and Training Colleges ; in 1891 a memorandum on the Free School System in the United States, Canada, France, and Belgium ; and in 1893 Instructions to H.M. Inspectors, with Appendices on Thrift and Training of Pupil Teachers. Fitch's educational activities passed far beyond his official work. His association with the University of London was always close. From 1860 to 1865 and from 1869 to 1874, he was examiner in English language and history. In 1875, he was appointed to the senate, and on his retirement in 1900 was made a life fellow.
The William Booth Memorial Training College in Denmark Hill, London, the College for Officer Training of The Salvation Army in the United Kingdom, is named after him,William Booth College, Denmark Hill, Geograph as is the William Booth Primary School in his native Nottingham and William Booth Lane in central Birmingham. Many Salvation Army training colleges, schools, orphanages hospitals and other institutions around the world bear his name. Rather than provide professional education for women, as was available in teacher training colleges and nursing colleges, Marie Haps wished to establish an institution that would provide general education to middle- class women whose futures would lie in their social roles as wife and mother. She regarded educated homemakers, the intellectual equals of their husbands, as having an important contribution to national reconstruction after the First World War. Her institute only began to provide professional education after the Second World War, first in training psychological assistants (from 1946) and then translators and interpreters (1955). She gave an exposition of her views at the sixth Catholic Congress in Mechelen in September 1936, in a lecture that was subsequently published in the congress proceedings.
In fact the minimum academic requirement by the ACC is that candidates "have undertaken a recognised Bible study course and/or given evidence to the interviewing committee that he/she is equipped by private reading and study to fulfill the relevant ministry." This generally equates to a Certificate IV in Ministry. This is in line with ACC's understanding of priority of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit over and above academic training and allows a lot of autonomy at a local church level. But again, it has called into question how there really can be any official training colleges for the ACC, as whether someone has studied there or even done any formal study at all is unnecessary for ordination.
It is now a day school only. It remains an independent school in the Catholic tradition with its administration still retained by the De La Salle Brothers. The founder of the institute, St Jean-Baptiste de la Salle, was a French nobleman of the 17th century, who in the reign of Louis XIV renounced his titles and estates, and founded free schools for the rural and urban poor, who had not previously been afforded the opportunity of an education. He was the founder of the classroom model of education and of teacher training colleges, and established schools staffed by consecrated laymen who donated their labour in return for their keep; living a life of primitive communism under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience.
While the schools still exist, the curriculum has changed so that no matter which type of school one attends, they can still attend any post-secondary institution and still study a variety of subjects and others (either academic or practical). In Ontario, the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities divided post-secondary education into universities, community colleges and private career colleges. In the Province of Quebec, there are some vocational programs offered at institutions called CEGEPs (collège d'enseignement général et professionnel), but these too may function as an introduction to university. Generally, students complete two years at a CEGEP directly out of high school, and then complete three years at a university (rather than the usual four), to earn an undergraduate degree.

In spite of so many setbacks, by the late 1950s, the Catholic Church ran 1249 of the 2884 primary schools in Nyasaland (Malawi) and of the 24 grant-aided secondary schools and teacher training colleges, 13 were run by the Catholic Church. Just as the Church’s achievements at primary school level necessitated the establishment of Catholic secondary schools in the fifties, its achievements at the secondary school level called for the establishment of a Catholic University.
