Bred and raced by liquor magnate Harry C. Hatch, Uttermost was trained by Cecil Howard and ridden by future Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame jockey Bobby Watson. He was the top two-year-old in Canada and was the country's top horse in 1945 at age three.

Although van Grunsven has ridden many horses over her career, she won the majority of her top events on two horses: Bonfire and Salinero. In July 2019 Team Israel’s Bond, Daniel Bluman, Elad Yaniv, and Danielle (Goldstein) Waldman won the Olympic Jumping Qualifier at Maxima Park in Moscow, qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics, the first time that Israel has earned a place in the Olympics in equestrian. Christiana is well known for its water sports along the Vaal River, as well as the Diamond Diggers Festival (Delwers Fees) that occurs annually. Wall Street, while a relatively successful dressage horse, had suffered health problems and had never been able to compete with Rusty as Salzgeber's top horse. In 2008, Salzgeber again began competing at the Grand Prix level on Herzruf's Erbe, who would develop into one of her top international horses. In that year, the pair won the Otto Lorke Prize, given each year to the best German Grand Prix horse under 10 years old. During 2008, Salzgeber and Herzruf's Erbe had won 10 Grand Prix competitions.

Going 3-wide around the final turn, Frosted took the lead coming into the stretch and won under a hand ride. "He's a top horse and the last three out of his last four runs have been against American Pharoah, so it's great he wasn't here and we were able to shine today," McLaughlin said. On October 31, Frosted entered the Breeders' Cup Classic, facing older horses for the first time and American Pharoah for the last time. Frosted took up his normal stalking position several lengths behind American Pharoah, then started to make his move on the turn.

She was unhappy with the judging at the 1998 Games, held in Rome, and said that she "thought [she] would quit dressage", despite her high finish placement. At the 2002 World Equestrian Games, riding Krack C, she finished 11th individually and rode to 5th place with the Dutch team. Jeanette Brakewell (born 4 February 1974) has been riding since the age of four and is a professional eventing rider. She was a member of both the British silver medal team at the Athens Olympics of 2004, and the silver medal team in the same event at the Summer Olympics in Sydney 2000 riding her top horse, Over to You. With Over to You, Brakewell was for several years a regular member of the British three-day eventing team. Arguably her best achievement to date was in winning the individual silver medal on this horse at the 2002 FEI World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain, 2002 and a team bronze medal at the same event.

Killanin served as Honorary Consul-General of Monaco in Ireland from 1961 to 1984. Killanin served as Chairman of the Race Committee for Galway Racecourse from 1970 to 1985. In his acceptance speech on behalf of the Galway Race Committee when accepting an award for its contribution to Irish Racing in 2013 the then chairman Mr Naughton said Lord Killanin’s appointment as Chairman of the Race Committee in the early 1970s was instrumental in setting in motion a train of development that has resulted in the venue not only becoming a top horse-racing destination but also an attractive tourist destination. A keen horse racing enthusiast, Killanin also served as a steward of the Irish Turf Club on two occasions and on the National Hunt Steeplechase Committee.

Crevolin's next top horse was the multiple-stakes- winning four-year-old Imbros, who set a world record for seven furlongs in winning the 1954 Malibu Sequet Stakes at Santa Anita Park and equaled the world record for eight and a half furlongs in winning the 1954 Californian Stakes at Hollywood Park Racetrack. In addition to setting new track records at Santa Anita and Hollywood Park, Imbros twice equaled the Santa Anita Park track record for six furlongs plus he set two track records for eight and nine furlongs at Bay Meadows Racetrack. That same year, Crevolin and Bill Molter enjoyed even greater success with three-year-old Determine. A very small colt, he was overlooked by most bidders at the 1952 Keeneland Summer Sale and was purchased by Crevolin for just $12,000.
