The rider pushed down with the toe to go, pushed down with the heel to stop. Indy 500, three-time winner, Wilbur Shaw officially tested and proved the scooter on the 500 track in 1954 before the race.

There are 12 km of APS tramway in the three- line network of 43.3 km as of 2008. Bordeaux Alstom Citadis trams use pantographs and electric overhead lines in outlying areas. Before use in Bordeaux, APS was tested and proved viable on a short section of reserved- track in the French city of Marseille. Part of what makes the timing of the film feel so true to the timing of a rainstorm actually experienced are the synergistic cuts tested and proved by the Soviet Montage movement. Kuleshov and Pudovkin proved that if an audience watches two shots in succession, they will automatically assume that those shots are related—so we imagine that as we watch a shot of rain steadily falling in the canal, then another of a man rushing to get his groceries indoors, he has picked up speed because he too has sensed that it has started to rain.

These techniques are questions posed to the interviewee that may jog their memory for details such as physical appearance (‘Did the intruder remind you of anyone you know?’), objects (‘Did they appear to be heavy to carry?’), or speech characteristics (‘Were any unusual words or foreign words used?’). Each of the four retrieval rules were tested and proved to be useful in the interview process.
