On taking over from Sewards Supermarket, Budgens also took over the tradition of arranging the annual 'fun run', a 10 kilometre race around the village, which generally takes place on the last Sunday of September.

The football club officially came under the banner of Newcomb and District Sports Club however as the club lost its lacrosse, baseball and tennis clubs to name a few and today the Power are known as Newcomb Football Club. Newcomb have won (1) Reserves Premiership being 1980, (8) U/18's Flags 1978, 81–84, 86, 90-91 four being as Champions (undefeated) and Grand Finalists in 2015, U/15's won (5) Flags 1978–80, 82, 84 four as Champions.

The playing fields, adjacent to Arden Hall, have a sports centre which supports cricket, football, golf and tennis clubs and is now home to Bromford Lions Football Club. There are three primary schools, one special school and one secondary school (Park Hall Academy). There are two main shopping areas, several smaller ones and numerous small businesses. Public transport is provided in the form of bus routes by National Express West Midlands, connecting Castle Bromwich with Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Solihull and Birmingham Airport.

Redcastle was known for its beauty and its sporting associations (particularly those of St John McLean Buckley – He was, apart from his horse racing interests, president of cycling, coursing, gymnastic and tennis clubs). The homestead (the "castle") was (and is) a significant country house. The property comprising was purchased by the Christian Brothers at a cost of £8000 in 1925 and a further were added, at a cost of £1000, in 1928. The present campus thus has an area of 27 hectares.

Some remnants of the Atlantic wall are located on Wassenaar's beach, the Wassenaarseslag; nearly a thousand metres of underground walled tunnels are present, connecting five bunkers. Cobh Golf Club has an 18-hole championship course at Marino on the main R624 road into the town. Cobh is also home to one of the oldest existing tennis clubs in Ireland, Rushbrooke Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, founded in 1870. There are two coastal rowing clubs in the area, Cobh Fishermen and Rushbrooke Rowing Club, with the latter established in 1989. Other events on the water include the "Escape from Spike Island" triathlon, which was first held in 2012 and organised by Cobh Triathlon Club.

The club appears to have played initially "upon the bowler's green". This appears to make Manly Croquet Club the oldest surviving (croquet) club in NSW." In 1903 arrangements were made for the Croquet Club to share Manly Oval with the cricket, football and lawn tennis clubs. By 1905 the club had built a pavilion on land opposite the Post Office. The Croquet Club occupied this site until 1967, when "with Council assistance (it) transferred from Ivanhoe Park to Keirle Park in 1967, where it remains.

Penkridge has its own historic stocks and cells remain in the town centre. The town has several pubs, and there are also numerous sports clubs in Penkridge including cricket, football, rugby union and tennis clubs. On the last Friday in November, for one night, the village centre used to close to traffic to allow a Victorian Night and Christmas Market to take place, in 2010 this event moved to the Market site where it has expanded to include over 70 stalls and a funfair.

In 2020, the Orientation Committee announced that clubs that did not admit female students' membership could not join circle recruitment events. Lobb was assisted by College Prospects of America to gain a tennis scholarship to the University of Tennessee @ Martin in the USA. He was named as an All-American (for tennis) and graduated from the school of Business with high honours. After coaching at various tennis clubs in London, Lobb played professionally for three years reaching a British ranking of 18 in 1997. After retiring in 1998 he combined coaching and modelling for three years as well as getting involved in sports PR and marketing in London.

The village hall is used for various activities, including hosting the village's gardening and lawn tennis clubs. In addition, Medstead has its own cricket club which has been in operation for over 150 years and a Bowls Club occupying a playing field which houses eight rinks. The main village hall was first built in the 1970s and has a capacity of 200 people; 150 people can be accommodated seated around tables or 120 for formal occasions. A separate small hall can accommodate 50 people with en suite kitchen and a separate bar area.

Despite his Scottish surname and ancestry, Arthur Davidovich McPherson (1870–1919) was a native of Petersburg and lived his entire life in Russia. He was the founder and president of the first All-Russian Union of Lawn Tennis Clubs, the forerunner of today's Russian Tennis Federation, and also helped establish the country's first Olympic Committee. In 1903 he organized the first St. Petersburg tennis championship, and four years later he set up the first national tournament. By 1913 the Russian championship was on the international tour and the game was thriving.

The end-19th century map shows the settlement as "Bournmoor". Maps produced after the development of the 'Flowers' estate, dated between 1920 and 1960 show both as "Burnmoor" but they reverted to "Bournmoor" in later maps. In 1913, the Parish Councils of "Bourn Moor" and "Morton Grange" complained to the Board of Trade about the poor facilities available to passengers at Fencehouses railway station.The National Archive, Piece reference MT 6/2328/2 Sporting facilities in the village include cricket, football and tennis clubs situated near to the church.

Aichtal has three football clubs, two tennis clubs and two water sports clubs. Two fishing clubs, a shooting club, a table tennis club, a volleyball club as well as a ski and an aikido club round off the sporting offer. The indoor swimming pool in Neuenhaus, which has existed since 1974, was largely demolished in the mid-1990s, rebuilt and reopened as a garden indoor pool. The exposed location of the indoor swimming pool on the edge of Schönbuch allows a view over the three parts of the town up to the Three Imperial Mountains.

In 1993, to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founding of the town, an exchange of bands was made between Glastonbury, England, and Glastonbury, Connecticut, resulting in Glastonbury's hosting the Glastonbury Brass Band for several enjoyable performances. The town has four private pool and tennis clubs; Minnechaug, Orchard Hill, Woodledge, and Pinebrook. Glastonbury also has a private country club with a golf course, Glastonbury Hills Country Club. The other golf course in town is a nine-hole course named Minnechaug Golf Course, located at the base of Minnechaug Mountain and owned by the town.

Kitesurfing and other water sports have also become popular on the island in recent years, especially at Grand Cul-de-Sac beach (Baie de Grand Cul de Sac) for windy sports as kitesurfing and Saint Jean Beach ( Baie de Saint Jean), Lorient, Toiny and Anse des Cayes for surfing. Tennis is also popular on the island and it has several tennis clubs, Tennis Clube de Flamboyant in Grand Cul-de-Sac, AJOE Tennis Club in Orient and ASCO in Colombier.Sullivan, p.183 The Swedish Marathon Race, also called the Gustavialoppet, is held in December.

On 11 April 1933, a few months after the Nazi Party had seized power in German in January, Neppach, who was Jewish, quit her membership at Tennis Borussia. Even though the circumstances of this decision are not known in detail, she was almost certainly forced to do so, as most German tennis clubs at that time expelled their Jewish members. In the same month, the German tennis federation announced that Jewish players were no longer allowed to play international tournaments. Neppach was the first German female tennis player who had gained international appreciation.

The ambition of Deeping Rangers Football Club is reflected in the efforts it is making to provide a stadium which will bear comparison with the finest at this level of football in the country. The club shares a site on the northern edge of Market Deeping, close to the recently completed Deepings by-pass on the A16, with the local cricket and tennis clubs. All the clubs have joint use of the sports and social club at the centre of the site, which was completed in 1999. The main stand on the first-team pitch cost £33,000 and took three years to complete.

In early 1915, a group of about 100 tennis players signed a petition in favor of moving the tournament. They argued that most tennis clubs, players, and fans were located in the New York City area and that it would therefore be beneficial for the development of the sport to host the national championship there. This view was opposed by another group of players that included eight former national singles champions. High Street, Ingatestone Ingatestone has over 40 clubs and societies, ranging from arts and sports clubs to charitable societies. These include the Ingatestone and Fryerning Dramatic Club, which was founded in 1947; the Ingatestone Musical and Operetta Group, founded in 1970; the Ingatestone Choral Society, which is 70 years old; and the Ingatestone and Horticultural Society, which is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society and was formed in 1963. There is also a Community Association, which meets at a large hall in High Street. Other amenities include a recreation ground, a sports field and bowls and tennis clubs.

The atmosphere at Manly Oval - "The Village Green" is unique, with a fun, family atmosphere mixed with a passion and tribalism experienced nowhere else in the region. ;Tennis Formed in 1884 and one of the oldest tennis clubs in NSW, the Manly Lawn Tennis Club played under the auspices of the NSW lawn tennis Association in July 1893, first competed in the NSW Lawn Tennis Association's Badge Competition in 1898 and continues on its original site until today. The Badge competition is the oldest tennis competition in the Sydney region and currently involves clubs from across the Greater Sydney Region.

The Honda Tennis Center, inaugurated in 2002, is composed of 16 tennis courts and is used by local tennis clubs as well as visitors. A pioneer in the development of soccer in Puerto Rico, mayor Ramón Luis Rivera, Jr. inaugurated the Bayamón Soccer Complex in 2011, which consists of three professional soccer fields located off the PR-5 Highway. The Paseo del Rio (Paseo Lineal) near the Bayamón River is a 6-mile stretch shared by joggers, walkers and cyclists. It is divided in two lanes, one for the bicycles and the other for running or walking.

During his tenure at Kingston College he served as Deputy Head Boy, President of Interact Club and was an active member of the Chess and Lawn Tennis clubs and represented his school in both sports. He left Kingston College with five ‘A’ levels and a scholarship to University of the West Indies where he earned a B.Sc. (Hons) in special Mathematics. In 1972, Mr. Chuck was elected the 1973 Jamaica's Rhodes Scholar and attended St. Catherine's College, Oxford from 1973-1976 where he studied Law and graduated with a B.A. in Jurisprudence and a Bachelor of Civil Law degree.

RTHC was created in 1951 by the merger of three formerly independent organizations: the rowing club founded in 1910, the tennis clubs of 1913 and the hockey club in 1919. As of April 2012, the outstanding successes of its members include two Olympic gold medals (Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996), seven Olympic silver medals, one bronze and seven world championship titles. The most successful rower is Stephan Volkert. The multiple Paralympic swimming champion, Dr. Britta Siegers rose to success with wheelchair tennis and occupied as a personal best in the world ranking position eight in singles and position seven in doubles.

Aston Manor Cricket Club are situated in Perry Barr, as is the international athletics stadium Alexander Stadium. These are located on Church Road just by Perry Park. The Hub on Holford Drive is home to Continental Star F.C., as well as Continental Star Cricket, tennis clubs, and Aston Amateur Boxing Club. Perry Barr Greyhound Stadium on the Aldridge Road plays host to two sports: greyhound racing, which is primarily run on Saturday nights with daytime meetings during the week, and speedway, the team racing there being the Birmingham Brummies, who run on a Wednesday night schedule from April to October.

Joseph Negro (born in Badalucco, Italy) was a French professional tennis player. He was a three-time runner-up at the Bristol Cup, a precursor to the professional Grand Slam tournaments in the amateur era, in 1920, 1922, and 1923. He also worked as a teaching professional at the Nice Lawn Tennis Club on the French Riviera, where he coached Suzanne Lenglen as a child, who later became a 21-time Grand Slam champion and one of the best women's tennis players in the amateur era. He had also worked as a coach at Russian tennis clubs, including in Odessa.

Talley Robert "Tally" Holmes (December 9, 1889 in Washington, D.C. − March 1, 1969 in Washington, D.C.African Americans at Dartmouth College 1775−1950 (access: 15 July 2019).) was an American tennis player in the 1910s and 1920s. Holmes was among the founders in 1916 of the American Tennis Association (ATA). Holmes and other representatives from dozens of black tennis clubs met in Washington D.C. on Thanksgiving Day to create a more organized way for black youths to participate in tennis. At the time they were excluded from white institutions, but the sport was attracting black athletes in leading colleges.

Each of these sections have different regulations and procedures, but they all share the same mission statement: Each of the sections was started at a different time, as interest in the sport grew in that location. The USTA Midwest Section started in 1910 as the Western Lawn Tennis Association at the Chicago Beach Club in Chicago, Illinois. It originally controlled all of the tennis clubs west of the Alleghenies Mountains, and had great influence over the USTA at national meetings. When the USTA Midwest proposed a national clay court championship in 1910, the USTA agreed without dissent.

The village church, dedicated to St James in 1878, is one of only a few proprietary chapels remaining in the country. The village also has a pub, one of the oldest lawn tennis clubs in the world/ Avon Vale Tennis and Croquet Club and a garage, with a further restaurant on the road to South Brent.The Turtley Corn Mill The village had a succession of shops from 1871, but the last village shop closed in 2018. The Royal Melbourne Tennis Club (RMTC) is one of only four real tennis clubs in Australia, and the site of one of less than fifty real tennis venues in the world. The RMTC is the second oldest in Australia and the largest. It is one of only five clubs in the world with more than one court (along with Queens Club in London, Prested Hall, Cambridge University Real Tennis Club and the Racquet and Tennis Club). The RMTC is the home of the Australian Open, as well as the largest (in terms of player involvement) Real Tennis tournament in the world, the Boomerang Cup.

Athletics’ activities comprised three competing houses namely Eagle, Falcon and Hawk covering all of the customary track and field events culminating in an annual inter-house and inter-schools events. Besides cricket and rugby, one was spoilt for choice be it soccer, hockey, basketball, lawn tennis or swimming. Also had woodwork club, a chess club, a young farmers club, a school choir, a gymnastics club, badminton and lawn tennis clubs, a rowing club, a dramatic society, a photographic society, a printing press and a contingent of school cadets. Most of these activities were also competed against other schools but not necessarily on an annual basis.

The development of the village owed much to the creation of the Glasgow-Edinburgh railway line, with a station sited in Dullatur in 1842 to encourage commuters to settle there. Several grand villas were built as part of the original development, two of which were designed by the architect Alexander "Greek" Thomson. The Canadian Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) was formed on July 1, 1890, in Toronto, Ontario. Delegates were present from at least thirteen clubs: six Toronto tennis clubs, including the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club; two clubs from Montreal, Quebec; and clubs from London, Ottawa, St. Catharine's, Peterboro, and Petrolea, all in Ontario. Charles Smith Hyman, who won the Canadian Championships (later known as the Canadian Open) singles title five times in the 1880s, was chosen as its first president and served three one-year terms (1890–1892). The CLTA began organizing the Canadian Championships at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club, starting with the 1890 tournament.

After he retired from banking, he moved away from Philadelphia, splitting his time between his home in Boca Grande, Florida and his home in Shelter Island, an island at the eastern end of Long Island. In 1937, Drexel and his wife hosted a dinner in honor of Sir Bede Clifford, Governor of the Bahamas, and Lady Clifford (the former Alice Devin Gundry), at their home, Caprice. He was a member of the Philadelphia Club, Racquet Club and Corinthian Club in Philadelphia and the Knickerbocker Club, New York Yacht Club, and the Racquet and Tennis Clubs of New York. In 1938, he sold his 238-ton steel yacht, Queen of Scots, to the British registry to be used as a hospital ship for the British Red Cross.

By the early 1890s, despite the association of tennis with upper-class whites, the sport began to attract athletes at black colleges and universities, such as the Tuskeegee Institute and Howard University. Because the sport was segregated, blacks established their own tennis clubs around the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., areas to encourage players and create competitions, including Baltimore's Monumental Tennis Club and Washington, D.C.'s Association Tennis Club. In response to the USTA prohibition against black players in their tournaments, a group of African-American businessmen, college professors, and physicians founded the ATA in Washington on November 30, 1916. Their initial mission statement was to build the infrastructure for black tennis tournaments, to unite black players and fans, and promote the game within African-American communities.

On the eastern hilltop, above sea level, is a meter high observation tower located, Loorenkopf nearby Witikon, which offers a panorama over Lake Zürich, Pfannenstiel region and the Glatt Valley.

These cover still a large area despite recent encroaching business and apartment/housing projects. Today, Krestovsky island continues its tradition as a base for sports and recreation and is still the home to half a dozen tennis clubs, several boating and rowing clubs as well as the site of the new stadium of Zenit, replacing the Kirov stadium at the western spit of the island. Svetlana Kuznetsova, is the best-known contemporary Russian tennis player coming from the Krestovsky island tennis tradition of Russian champions, started by the Scot MacPherson, his sons as well as Mikhail Sumarokov-Elston and George Bray in the late 19th century. She is regularly ranked among the top ten professionals in the ladies' world rankings.

The Edgbaston Priory was formed by the merger in 1964 of two of the earliest lawn tennis clubs, the Priory Lawn Tennis Club (founded 1875) and the Edgbaston Cricket & Lawn Tennis Club (founded 1878). The Priory started with two courts on the Pershore Road, and moved about a mile to its current site in the early 1880s. Edgbaston Cricket & Lawn Tennis Club was founded by a breakaway from another local club which had played lawn tennis since 1872, and where the inventor of the game Major Harry Gem, who had first played lawn tennis only five minutes' walk from Edgbaston Priory's grounds, was a member. In the years before the First World War the Edgbaston Cricket & Lawn Tennis Club was the larger and more prestigious of the two clubs.

The suburb has two Australian rules football clubs, Glen Waverley Hawks Football Club, and the Glen Waverley Rovers Junior Football Club both competing in the Eastern Football League. Soccer clubs include Glen Waverley Soccer Club (founded in 1980), and Waverley Victory Football Club (founded in 2001), they are both members of Football Federation Victoria. Tennis clubs include Glen Waverley Tennis Club, Glenvale Tennis Club, Glenburn Tennis Club, Legend Park Tennis Club, Notting Hill Pinewood Tennis Club and Whites Lane Tennis Club. Cricket is represented by the Glen Waverley Cougars Cricket Club and the Glen Waverley Cricket Club, who both compete in the Southern District and Churches Cricket League (SDCCL). In season 2009/2010, the Glen Waverley Cricket Club's 50th year, they won the SDCCL Menzies Shield, defeating Mount Waverley Uniting Cricket Club.

The world-famous Royal Golf Club of Montreal is located in Ile-Bizard and is one of eight golf greens in the West Island, the majority of which are private. Other typical West Island sports and recreation facilities include numerous tennis clubs and courts, curling clubs and the occasional bocci pitch. Other notable West Island sports and recreation facilities include the West Island YMCA and YM/YWHA, Dollard-des- Ormeaux's Centennial Park (with hills ideally suited for tobogganing and forests inter-laced with cross-country ski trails), Cap St. Jacques (which features the only remaining beach open to the public on the island) and the facilities affiliated with John Abbott College. John Sutton Nettlefold within Moorpool Hall Moorpool Bowling Club clubhouse The Moor Pool estate was established in 1907 by John Sutton Nettlefold, who was part of the Guest Keen Nettlefold (GKN) family. It formed part of the Garden City concept, shared by George Cadbury in Bournville, to create low density housing with many interspersed green spaces, and community facilities. The estate was built with a community hall (complete with skittle alley and snooker tables), two tennis clubs, a bowling green, numerous allotments, and the Moor Pool (pond) itself; all of these facilities remain today for residents' use. The homes and buildings were designed by William Martin, an architect known for working with John Henry Chamberlain to build 41 of the Birmingham board schools (including the nearby Harborne Clock Tower / School Yard), through their practice Martin & Chamberlain.

The French Open is played during two weeks in late May and early June, and has been chronologically the second of the four Grand Slam tournaments of the tennis season since 1987. The event was not held from 1915 to 1919 because of World War I, and after a one-year lapse in 1940, was unofficially held from 1941 to 1945 because of World War II. The national body that organizes this event is the French Tennis Federation (FFT). The Racing Club de France and the Stade Français of Paris alternated hosting the event before the competition was moved in 1928 to the newly built Stade Roland Garros, where it has been played since. The city's third professional football team Olimpia Poznań ceased activity in 2004, focusing on other sports, and remains one of the best judo and tennis clubs in the country, the latter hosting the Poznań Open tournament at the Tennis Park. The club is a large sports complex surrounded by Lake Rusałka, and apart from the tennis facilities boasts a large city recreation area: mountain biking facilities including a four-cross track; an athletics stadium (capacity 3000); and a football-speedway stadium (capacity 20 000), which fell into vast disrepair until it was acquired by the city council from the police in 2013 and was renovated. The football-speedway stadium hosts speedway club PSŻ Poznań, rugby union side NKR Chaos, American football team the Armia Poznań, and football team Poznaniak Poznań. Table tennis is another active sport in Pristina, since the acceptance of the Kosovar Table Tennis Federation in the International Table Tennis Federation in 2003. Two players from the KP Prishtina (Table-tennis Club Pristina), Vlona Maloku and Linor Çitaku were elected table tennis players of the year 2013, following their acclaimed titles and placement on top of the national ranking table. Maloku is a member of Kosovo's national table tennis women's team and participated in the European Table Tennis Championship in Vienna, whereas Çitaku is a regular member of Kosovo's national table tennis men's team and participated in the World Table Tennis Championship in Paris 2013, European Table Tennis Championship in Vienna and Balkan's U21 Table Tennis Championship in Sarajevo Tennis in Pristina is represented by two tennis clubs, KT Prishtina and KT DielliX. They both practice their activity in the tennis courts located near the Ismail Qemali secondary school KT Prishtina was founded in 1992 and is the first tennis club in Kosovo.

Millions of pounds were invested in the building of indoor centres, and on coaching and training initiatives. However, by the end of the 1990s, it was clear that these broad initiatives were not having the desired effect, so the LTA turned to more targeted approaches with the aim of: attracting and keeping juniors in the game; changing the culture among clubs to become more "junior friendly"; identifying the best young players and helping them develop. This led to the launch in 2000 of Club Vision, a new strategy for providing greater support and resources to progressive tennis clubs, followed in 2001 by the City Tennis Club programme, which was specifically aimed at encouraging young players from diverse/deprived backgrounds in inner-city areas.
