Having dedicated most of his career to military education, Teles did not enter politics until 1898, when he accepted the position of Minister of War in the government led by José Luciano de Castro, leader of the Progressive Party. In his tenure as minister from 18 August 1898 to 25 June 1900, Teles spearheaded various improvements and reforms to the army's overall organization, culminating in the 13 July 1899 approval of the Lei de Reorganização do Exército (Law Reorganizing the Army). On 17 March 1899 Sousa Teles became a Peer of the Realm, granting him a spot in the Chamber of Peers, the upper house of the Cortes Gerais (Portugal's pre- republican parliament). He focused his parliamentary career on topics related to the military, particularly reforms to promotions, uniforms, and recruitment, and the ultimately unsuccessful establishment of a "parliamentary committee of war" (comissão parlamentar de guerra). Teles served as Minister of War twice more: between 20 October 1904 and 27 December 1905 as part of another José Luciano de Castro government, and between 4 February 1908 and 14 May 1909 under the successive governments led by Francisco Joaquim Ferreira do Amaral, Artur Alberto de Campos Henriques, and himself.

The Colíder Dam is a rock-fill dam with an asphalt-concrete core, built from 2011 to 2019 on the Teles Pires river. It is located about southeast of Colíder in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The dam's hydroelectric power stations have 3 turbines each 102.3 MW, resulting in a total installed capacity of 306.9 MW. Construction on the run-of-the-river type station was initiated in May 2011, and the last unit started operating in December 2019. The dam is part of a planned six power plant "Hidrovia Tapajos/Teles Pires" project to create a navigable waterway connecting the interior of Brazil to the Atlantic Ocean.

José da Câmara Teles (1712 in Lisbon - 1757 in Lisbon), member of the Azorean dynastic Gonçalves da Câmara family, he was son of Luís Manuel da Câmara, third Count of Ribeira Grande and made 13th Donatary-Captain of the island of São Miguel following his father's death (who never received the title directly). An absentee captain, hew was forced to return to the island by the King.

The Teles Pires () is a long river in Brasil. The river flows through the state of Mato Grosso and its lower part marks the border between the states of Mato Grosso and Pará. At its mouth it joins Juruena River and together they form the Tapajós, which is one of the biggest tributaries of the Amazon River. The most important settlement along the river is Alta Floresta.

José Homem Correia Teles (May 10, 1780 – July 3, 1849) was a Portuguese jurist, judge and politician. He studied canon law in Coimbra from 1795 to 1800 and learned the profession of advocate from his father. From 1803 on, he held judicial posts in the countryside and, in 1821–24, in Lisbon. Besides practicing law in Lisbon, he was a member of the Portuguese parliament several times between 1820 and 1843, and participated in drafting the Portuguese civil code in 1827/28.

Castilian Admiral Fernando Sánchez de Tovar's fleet sighted the Portuguese fleet commanded by João Afonso Teles de Menezes off the coast of the Algarve. Outnumbered, de Tovar retreated towards Seville. The speed of the Castilian fleet caused the Portuguese to break formation, and several of the Portuguese ships attacked the property of fishermen on Saltes Island. De Tovar's retreat had been a ruse, however, and seeing the Portuguese in disarray the Castilians attacked in tight formation, capturing 22 of the 23 Portuguese galleys.

The TI lies entirely in the Tapajós river basin, in the Amazon biome. Vegetation includes dense rainforest (17.27%), open rainforest (24.28%), savanna-rainforest contact (37.51%), savanna-seasonal forest contact (14.60%), as well as small area of rainforest-seasonal forest contact, savanna-pioneer formation contact, seasonal deciduous forest and savanna.

The park is on the border of the "arc of deforestation" in the Amazon rainforest. In the north it borders the Brazilian Airforce base in Pará, which contains a large area of native vegetation. The state park is surrounded by farms to the west, east and south. The Cristalino River enters the park from Pará to the north, then flows westward through the park below the Pará border before turning south and flowing to the Teles Pires in the southwest.

The park can also be reached by the unpaved Quarta Leste road from the municipal center of Alta Floresta, taking a ferry across the Teles Pires River. The road runs through the park as far as the Cristalino River. Another dirt road from the Primeira Leste highway runs parallel to the boundary with Pará to the Cristalino River. Unofficial roads opened by ranchers and loggers enter the eastern end of the park, but do not reach the Cristalino River basin.

The Albertina was erected on one of the last remaining sections of the fortifications of Vienna, the Augustinian Bastion. Originally, the Hofbauamt (Court Construction Office), which had been built in the second half of the 17th century, stood in that location. In 1744 it was refurbished by the director of the Hofbauamt, Emanuel Teles Count Silva-Tarouca, to become his palace; it was therefore also known as Palais Taroucca. Later, Beatrice approved in her own name what was agreed at Salvaterra de Magos. Once the wedding took place, she went to live in Castile with her husband. The death of his father, who was a small businessman in Crato, brought serious financial difficulties to his family. Batista was ordained a priest on November 30, 1870. Sir Paul Methuen (1672-1757) Manuel Teles da Silva, 3rd Marquis of Alegrete, 4th Count of Vila Maior (1682-1736) At the start of the War of Spanish Succession Portugal was allied with France. As part of this treaty the French had guaranteed the Portuguese naval protection. In 1702, the English navy sailed close to Lisbon on the way to and from Cadiz, proving to the Portuguese that the French could not keep their promise.

The Coat of Arms of the Meneses family, the first to bear the title of Count of Neiva. The Coat of Arms of the Dukes of Braganza, who inherited the County of Neiva. Count of Neiva (in Portuguese Conde de Neiva) is a Portuguese title granted, in 1373 by King Fernando I of Portugal, to Dom Gonçalo Teles de Meneses, brother of Queen Leonor Telles de Meneses. Dom Gonçalo was also Lord of Faria, and that is why some authors, incorrectly, call him Count of Neiva and Faria.

By 1546, in the assessment records of São Miguel de Fontoura the church yielded 60,000 réis. In a 1580 copy of the census, friar Baltasar Limpo indicated that São Miguel was administered by laymen, and according to Américo Costa, its proceeds belonged to the heirs of Gabriel Pereira de Castro. The 1862 parish statistics, indicate that Vieiras Teles of Lisbon, and Barbosa Aboim of Barcelos, were beneficiaries of the proceeds. By 1839, Fontoura was a parish of the district of Monção, until it was transferred to the administration of Valença in 1852.

Following the expulsion of the Philippine Dynasty from the throne of Portugal in 1640, the new King John IV of Portugal granted this family the new title of Marquis of Nisa (Portuguese: Marquês de Nisa) by a royal decree dated October 18, 1646. When the 8th Marchioness and 8th Countess, Maria Josefa da Gama, married the 3rd Count of Unhão, the three titles were later inherited by their son, Rodrigo Xavier Teles de Castro da Gama (1744–1784), who became 14th Count of Vidigueira, 7th Marquis of Nisa and 5th Count of Unhão.

António was the sixth and final child of António Cordeiro Moitoso and his Graciosense wife Maria Espinosa. His primary studies, and classes in the humanities, occurred in the city of Angra, and he showed an exceptional intellect. Although he was their youngest child, his parents decided to send him to study at the University of Coimbra, where one of his brothers already studied. In 1656, with less than 15 years of age, he departed for Lisbon on board a warship in a flotilla commanded by General António Teles de Menezes.

On the opposite side of the square, a large residential building for the Teles de Menezes family was built (a portion of this building still exists). The Coat of Arms of Afonso, 8th Count of Barcelos in 1401, when he inherited it from his father-in-law, Nuno Álvares Pereira. Count of Barcelos (in Portuguese Conde de Barcelos) is a title of nobility, the first to be granted in Portugal. It was created in 1298 by king Denis I and initially it was a non hereditary title, although most of the holders belonged to the Teles de Menezes family.

Ana Cristina Teles Meneses Hormigo (born 13 April 1981) is a Portuguese judoka, who played for the extra-lightweight category. She won a bronze medal for her division at the 2008 European Judo Championships, and eventually defeated Italy's Valentina Moscatt for the gold at the 2011 IJF World Cup in Lisbon. Hormigo is also a member of Associação Judo Clube União Albicastrense, and is coached and trained by Abel Louro. Hormigo represented Portugal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed for the women's extra- lightweight class (48 kg).

In 1549, in order to solve the governance problem of his South American colonies, King John III of Portugal established the Governorate General of Brazil.Brasil Escola - Governo Geral The eighth Governor General, Manoel Teles Barreto (served 1583-1587), had a more substantive fortification built at the site. That structure, likely of rammed earth, was in the shape of an octagon. The tenth Governor General, Francisco de Souza (served 1591-1602), reinforced the fortification with stone and mortar; its design was similar to the 16th-century Small Fort of Our Lady of Monserrate.

Eletronorte, Camargo Corrêa and CNEC Engenharia undertook hydraulic inventory studies of the Tapajós and Jamanxim Rivers, which were approved by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) in 2009. That year Aneel approved the start feasibility studies of the Cachoeira dos Patos, to be delivered on 31 July 2011. The deadline was later extended to 31 December 2013. The ecological station contains an area of the Cerrado biome and lies in the corridor linking the Amazon and Pantanal regions. The Count of Paço d'Arcos, in his role as Governor and commander of the police in Lisbon, fulfilled his duty without hesitation, ordering the police to use force, which led to his vilification by the republican press of the time.This is clearly seen in the accusations of Basilio Teles in his "Do Ultimatum ao 31 de Janeiro (1905)". This schoolteacher was a member of the Portuguese Republican Party and allegedly also of the Carbonária, having been exiled for his involvement in the uprising of Porto in 1891. D. António Teles da Silva, Bishop of Funchal, carried out new improvement works, between 1675-1682. With the visit of the Ajuda Palace's Curator Manuel Cayola Zagallo, the diocese became more and more aware of the importance of the Flemish Art collection it owned and that was spread throughout the churches and chapels of its territory. With the unequivocal support from the diocese and the public entities of the time, the identified works were sent to be restore in Lisbon. After important conservation and restoration work by Fernando Mardel, the paintings were exhibited in Lisbon at the National Museum of Ancient Art in 1949.

He organized the herbarium of the National Agronomic Station, which under his action went from just over 3,000 to almost 100,000 entries. He also developed complementary collections (diaspore in Portuguese flora, paleoethnobotany, etc.) and miscellaneous files.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed, an ambulance arrived on the pitch and he was rushed to the hospital. His condition was covered by the Portuguese media throughout the day and, before midnight, his death was confirmed, the cause of death being cardiac arrhythmia brought on by hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. In his memory Benfica retired the number 29 shirt, which he wore during his time at the club; he was remembered by many and his death caused a profound shock in Portuguese sports. Among others, Porto director of football Reinaldo Teles and manager José Mourinho paid their respects at the Estádio da Luz, where the player's body remained before his burial in his native Hungary.

By 1472, he had settled in Ribeira Brava, and along with his son (João de Teive) maintained the donatary rights to the islands until 1474, when D. Fernão Teles de Meneses (married to D. Maria de Vilhena) bought those rights over the islands. The Teive family and their descendants have had an important history in the community of Ribeira Brava, including: Gaspar de Teive (16th Century), D. Aleixo de Teive (16th century), friar António de Teive (theologist and monk in the Order of St. Augustine, prior of Castelo Branco and Vila Viçosa), Baltazar de Teive (16th century), and also another Diogo de Teive, born in the 18th century ("page and gentleman of King Phillip").

She decided to purchase from Francisca Pereira Teles, the noble homes and land in Bemposta area in the centre of Lisbon, in order to build her residence. A chapel dating back to 1501 existed there and she requested the architect, João Antunes (1642–1712), to incorporate a chapel in the site plan under the invocation of Nossa Senhora da Conceição (Our Lady of the Conception). The project began in 1694, with Antunes coming on board in 1702, and by 1702 the Queen had already begun to live in the palace. The building was a mixed construction: limestone and marble was used in many of the flourishes, but the structure was built of reinforced steel, wood and masonry.

In a climate where the opposition was beginning to gain strength, news coverage of the event resulted in shock and emotion within and outside Brazil. The party leadership, hit hard, began to operate with a core base in exile. Years later, it was discovered that the operation had the help of an informer arrested that year, the head of the PCdoB, Manoel Jover Teles (ex CC member of the PCB and former Pcbr), who was subsequently expelled from the party in 1983. Shorn of its main cadres, PCdoB began to regroup with staff from the PA leadership and staff of João Amazonas, who, with Diógenes Arruda, were the last remnants of the group that rebuilt the party in 1962.

From 1935 to 1944, DGEMN - Direcção Geral dos Edifícios e Monumentos Nacionais (General Directorate for Buildings and National Monuments) completed several public restoration projects at castle: in 1935, under the architect Baltasar de Castro, the parapets and merlons were cleared, unobstructed, and reconstructed; in 1936, the reconstruction of the walls and the vaulted entranceway to the military square; and in 1939-1944, the demolition of the Counts' palace, excavations and reconstruction of the walls, cistern, pavements and roof of the chapel. On 13 January 1963 the castle was illuminated, through the initiative of engineer Arantes e Oliveira, in the Public Works office, and Galvão Teles, in the Ministry of Education. Minor renovations were completed in 1986.

His best known work is his memoirs of the years 1622-1640, which cover his voyage to India, his experiences in Ethiopia, and his journey back to Portugal; his Itinerário, however, was not published during his lifetime. Baltasar Teles made large use of Lobo's writing in his História geral da Ethiópia a Alta (Coimbra, 1660), often erroneously attributed to Lobo, but incorporated much from Manuel de Almeida's manuscript work. Lobo's own narrative was translated from a copy owned by the Count of Ericeira by the Abbé Joachim le Grand into French in 1728, under the title of Voyage historique d'Abissinie. An English abridgment of Le Grand's edition by Dr. Samuel Johnson was published in 1735 (reprinted 1789).

Lion remained in the Western Mediterranean for the next two months, eventually joining with a squadron of four Portuguese ships of the line under the command of Tomás Xavier Teles de Castro da Gama, Marquess de Niza.James, p. 188 In September, Niza's squadron was ordered to join Nelson in his search for the French and sailed eastwards, but while passing to the north of Malta they encountered a large convoy of battered vessels under Captain Sir James Saumarez. These ships were seven British ships of the line and six captured French ships, all survivors of the Battle of the Nile, Nelson's successful conclusion of the campaign fought at Aboukir Bay off Egypt on 1 August.

A report was delivered to the Secretary of Agriculture, and the actual research started in the same year with Arthur Neiva, Adalberto Queiros Teles and Edmundo Navarro, who worked in two chemistry and entomology laboratories. The goal of the Commission was to find out more information about the parasite, and hence discover effective ways of preventing its growth. The academic studies in process were widely advertised among more than 1,300 coffee farms, or about 50 million farmers overall, in order to apply the results of the ongoing research. Arthur Neiva then ended the research at the end of the year, and the results from such a massive scientific and technical experiment soon arrived, and the damages caused by the beetle were finally under biological control.

His second and third tenures as minister took place in a time of increasing political instability following the assassination of King Carlos I of Portugal by republicans. Teles's parliamentary career and multiple tenures as minister gained a him reputation for significant involvement in party politics generally and the Progressive Party specifically, despite the short duration of many governments during the Portuguese monarchy's twilight. He was a nominee for leader of the Progressive Party during the prolonged senescence of José Luciano de Castro. Portuguese historian Maria Filomena Mónica suggests Teles's relative permanence in government from 1908 through 1909 may be attributed to his desire to elbow out Francisco da Veiga Beirão as the Progressive Party leader, though Teles did not succeed in doing so.

The lyceum was a public utility, functional and rationalist. It was projected to integrate into the urban fabric, albeit isolated initially. Ventura Terra delineated a construction model that was more simple then the habitual designs, responding to the a request by the first rector of the Central Lyceum, Rui Teles Palhinha: :construction of a building that purpose built...that obeyed the principals of the utmost economy, with the eye to a precise school of airyness and light...and dispensing with pumice and rich woods. Ventura Terra therefore included rectangular articulated blocks, using new materials for the time (iron and tile) and a composition that did not include closed corridors in favour of halls open to the patio and exterior galleries, and multiple recreational spaces.

The dowager queen began to ask those who supported her to defend the master of Aviz and not the king of Castile, and also wrote to the cities that the Castilian king had tried to occupy to refuse their obedience to him. When the king marched to Coimbra, accompanied by his wife and mother-in-law, the city was already under the protection of Gonçalo Teles, Leonor's brother, as well as her uncle Gonçalo Mendes de Vasconcelos. Leonor participated in a conspiracy to kill her son-in-law and, according to the chronicler Fernão Lopes, was discovered in the presence of her daughter Beatrice, who confronted her mother saying: "Oh Lady mother, in a year you wanted to see me a widow, orphan and disinherited?".

José Teles was master of a grand House, accumulated from the hereditary privileges of his grandfather and all the donatary captains, alcaldes, and commanders of the Order of Christ (including commander of the Port of Mujas and Port of Ervagens on the island of São Miguel). He became, consequently, the 11th Donatary-Captain, and 8th alcalde of the Fort of São Brás since 1724, at the time of his grandfather's death. Yet, he was reluctant to visit his captaincy, until the King, as a requirement of the municipal councils of the Kingdom, by royal proclamation on 8 March 1740, ordered him to São Miguel. He returned to his ancestral home to find it insolvent, depleted from the expenditures of his father in France.

Soon after the introduction of the Korean and Indonesian- made LTD lines, ESP stopped selling the majority of its Japanese made flagship guitars in the United States, due to the high prices involved in exporting to the Americas. The lone exception was ESP's artist signature series, which remained ESP (rather than LTD) models. In the early 2000s (decade), ESP resumed exporting the standard Japanese made lines to the United States (where they are popular among heavy metal and hard rock players), though at greatly increased prices compared to the early 1990s. Similarly to Ibanez, ESP's chief competitor in Japan, ESP was initially known for making high quality and customized replicas of famous American guitars, including hot rodded Strats and Teles, as well as Gibson Explorers.

The Fort of Monserrate was built as early as the Governor-General Manoel Teles Barreto, between 1583 and 1587; and 1609, when it appears in a report by Diogo de Campos Moreno. It was one of four recorded forts of the period, which included the Towers of Saint Albert (Torres de Santo Alberto), now lost; the Tower of Saint James (Torres de Santiago) in Água de Meninos, now modified into a stronghold; and the second version of the Forte de Santo Antônio da Barra. The Monserrate fort shares a common plan with the second version of the Fort of Saint Antony of Barra. Its design is attributed to Baccio de Filicaia, a native of Tuscany who served under Francisco de Sousa (1591-1602).

The island's charter passed to Fernão Telles de Meneses when little was accomplished in populating the islands, except for disembarking some sheep (1475). The death of Fernão Telles (1477) was to initiate exploration and settlement on the island, as his widow (Dona Maria de Vilhena) would contract the Flemish nobleman Willem van der Haegen to explore Flores and Corvo. After meeting with Dona Maria Vilhena (who administered the island in the name of her young son, Rui de Teles), Van der Haegen came to an agreement and moved to the island between 1480 and 1490. Van der Haegen had arrived in the Azores in 1469 and lived for a time on Faial Island by invitation of the first Captain of Faial, Josse van Huerter.

The ten smaller ships (navetas and caravels) coming with the Seventh Armada were to be distributed between Africa and India. Without Almeida's knowledge, Manuel I gave João da Nova (the old Galician admiral of the 3rd armada of 1501) a secret commission to take over the Indian coastal patrol from Manuel Teles. This infringed on Almeida's assumption that, as vice-roy, he had the right to fill that appointment with his own candidate – his son, Lourenço de Almeida, who was coming along as a passenger. Vasco Gomes de Abreu had a commission to head a patrol off Cape Guardafui, with instructions prey on Arab shipping around the mouth of the Red Sea and keep an eye out for the Egyptian fleet.

In his last will executed in July 1385, King John I entrusted his son, the future Henry III of Castile, with the responsibility of always honoring his wife Beatrice and his mother-in-law Leonor Teles. When Henry III executed his will on 4 December 1406, he mentioned Beatrice but not Leonor and, consequently, it can be assumed that she had already died. Her desire to be buried in the Convent of Saint Francis in Santarém next to her husband, King Ferdinand, was not fulfilled. Juan Antolínez de Burgos, a 16th17th century author who wrote a book on the history of Valladolid, states, without citing any sources, that Leonor was buried in the convent of Nuestra Señora de la Merced in Valladolid where Leonor lived after abandoning Tordesillas.

Ironically, Fernando de Ulmo was then married to one of the daughters of Fernão Teles and lived on one of the islands of the Azores when, in 1486, he received authorization from King João II of Portugal to begin his expedition. In partnership with Afonso do Estreito, a Madeirense, he organized his voyage, with the co-financing of the Royal Court, in order to conquer and subjugate the islands. Unfortunately, Fernão Dulmo did not have better luck, but ultimately, around the 17th Century, did organize an expedition to the northwest of Terceira, where an unknown island had been spotted.These mystical lands have been attributed to weather oddities primarily, when fog banks and clouds have been mistaken for other islands, such as the local myths about islands around the feast day of Saint John (June 24).

In 1976, Thomas and coworkers reported conversion of phenylacetylene to acetophenone using tetrachloroauric acid in a 37% yield. In this reaction gold(III) was used as a homogeneous catalyst replacing mercury in oxymercuration. This same study lists a published yield >150%, indicating catalysis that perhaps was not acknowledged by the chemists. In 1991, Utimoto reacted gold(III) (NaAuCl4) with alkynes and water. Teles identified a major drawback of this method as Au(III) was rapidly reduced to catalytically dead metallic gold and in 1998 returned to the theme of ligand supported Au(I) for the same transformation: :400x400px This particular reaction demonstrated fantastic catalytic efficiency and would trigger a flurry of research into the use of phosphinegold(I) complexes for the activation C-C multiple bonds in the years to come.

John I of Castile acted to control the situation in Portugal, leaving a Council of Regency in Castile consisting of Alfonso of Aragon, Marquis of Villena, Pedro Tenorio (Archbishop of Toledo) and Pedro González de Mendoza (First Mayordomo of the King).Suárez Fernández 1981, p. 315. In early January 1384 John I, together with Beatrice, invaded Portugal via the road to Santarém, following Queen Leonor Teles' call, and a few days later, on 13 January, he obtained from his mother-in-law her resignation of the regency and government. Thus the Castilian King assumed control of the government, and he organized a chancellery, a court, and an army composed essentially of Castilians. After this, many knights and castle governors came to pay homage to him and his wife Beatrice,Gebhardt 1864, p. 141.

Jonny Lang, since the beginning with The Big Bang, has slung a 1972 Fender Telecaster Thinline made by the Fender Custom Shop, as well as a 1958 reissue custom shop Gibson Les Paul in more recent years as his sound and style have grown and flourished. His original Custom Shop Tele - with a black flamed maple top, flamed maple neck, pearl signature inlay and his trademark pinup girl character on the aft body was stolen some years ago. He has added a couple more custom thinline teles-all carrying the basic aesthetic motif, but with varying colors from a burnt orange/amber to a deep violet throughout the years since. The 1972 Fender Telecaster Thinline is a semi-hollow spruce body, maple top, and a maple neck and fretboard.

As compensation, King John I granted Alfonso the title of Count of Valencia de Don Juan, a territory that was more accessible and controllable. The King also granted his son Henry the title of Prince of Asturias, with all the lordships thereby linking this difficult to reach territory — the ideal setting for conspiracies and uprisings due to its isolation and terrain — to the crown. Shortly afterwards, following the death of King Ferdinand I in October 1383, King John I decided to imprison Alfonso in the castle of Almonacid since, having married a daughter of the deceased king, albeit illegitimate, Alfonso was a rival and could undermine his rights to the crown of Portugal as the husband of Beatrice, the late king's daughter with Leonor Teles. In July 1386, John I confiscated all of Alfonso's properties.

By 1478, the Duke of Braganza put an end to the battles between the Archbishop and Lima. Between 1505 and 1532, Archbishop D. Diogo de Sousa ordered changes at the palace, including the erection of the Fonte dos Castelos, in the Largo do Paço, which lead to the 1545-1549 construction of the northern wing, by Archbishop D. Manuel de Sousa and the 1594 construction of the western wing in the Largo do Paço, by Archbishop D. Agostinho de Jesus. In 1709, Archbishop D. Rodrigo de Moura Teles expanded the building, altering the facades of wings oriented to the Largo do Paço and erecting a chapel. Between 1740 and 1750, the Archbishop of D. José de Bragança, further expanded the palace, ordering the construction of the Baroque wing oriented to the municipal square.

On 12 August 2013 the Tapajós Study Group, which is responsible for analyzing the environmental viability of the hydroelectric projects on the river, was authorized by the federal government to resume research on the fauna and flora of the region. Eletrobras, which coordinates the study group, confirmed that it planned to submit Environmental Impact Studies to IBAMA for the São Luiz do Tapajós and Jatobá hydroelectric plants in December 2013. Other members of the study group are Eletronorte, GDF Suez, CEMIG, Copel, Neoenergia, Électricité de France, Endesa Brasil and Camargo Corrêa. On 29 July 2013 the Federal Public Ministry recommended suspension of licensing of the Cachoeira dos Patos hydroelectric plant for the same reasons as other planned hydroelectric plants on the Tapajós, Teles Pires, Jamanxim and Juruena rivers.

The rubidium salt and the mixed rubidium-potassium salt crystallize as deep blue dihydrates in the triclinic space group, with the same structure. In February 2017, the Cyprus Navy was given an offshore patrol vessel by the Sultanate of Oman. The Al Mabrukah training and patrol vessel displaced 930 tons and was 62 metres long, making it far larger than any vessel previously operated by the Cyprus Navy. The vessel was refitted and modernised for the donation process, and came equipped with a large helicopter pad and expanded accommodation facilities, making it suitable for use as a support ship under its new designation, A620 Alasia. However the low speed of the ship, combined with its age, highlighted mechanical difficulties with the ship's propulsion, and following its use in the TELES-2017 naval exercise in May 2017, the ship was laid up at Larnaca Port, requiring repair. Isaura Teles Alves de Lima lagoon Parque Portugal, also known as Lagoa do Taquaral (), is an urban public park in the city of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil. It has been set around a beautiful lagoon and adjacent wooded park, and is a large municipal entertainment and sports park, with a planetarium, a science museum, an indoor sports stadium and swimming pool, kart racing and model airplane areas, an open concert auditorium, floating caravel replica, a working historical tramway, pedalos, facilities for several types of sports, including a long track for running, cycling and walking, restaurants, etc. Taquaral means "bamboo grove" in Portuguese, probably because the lagoon was originally rimmed with this kind of plant (it no longer is, instead eucalyptus trees have been planted around it). The name Portugal was given as a homage to the discoverers and immigrants of Brazil, the Portuguese people.

In addition to the monuments, gardens and streets of the historic city center of Braga, a particularly popular visitor attraction is the sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte. Being a grandiose work of the architect Carlos Amarante, begun in 1784 and completed in 1811, the Bom Jesus do Monte is unique in the world, as an artistic arrangement of mountain – architectural, sculptural and landscaping – a Baroque masterpiece of Braga, a candidate for “World Heritage” status, and a singular testimony of devotion. With the chapels of its monumental staircase, exhibiting in a sculptural way the Stations of the Cross, culminating in the beautiful temple with the scene of the crucifixion, located in its altarpiece, and concluding with the stations of the luminous way of the mysteries of the Risen, this set was intended by the Archbishop Rodrigo de Moura Teles to tangibly symbolise that devotion.

While King Ferdinand I and his counselors were at Elvas to discuss the war, on 19 July 1382 Queen Leonor Teles gave birth a son and heir, Afonso, who lived only four days, dying on 23 July either by a disease, or according to some sources like the later chronicler Fernão Lopes, killed by the king who believed that the newborn prince wasn't his son but product of the affair between his wife and the Count of Ourém. Fernão Lopes states that the court dressed in mourning only for protocol, since most of the courtiers thought Afonso was not the king's son. One month later, on 10 August, the war was concluded with the Peace of Elvas,Suárez Fernández 1981, p. 312. under which a betrothal was celebrated between Beatrice and the second son of John I of Castile, the future Ferdinand I of Aragon.

The island and Corvo was discovered in 1452 (by Diogo de Teive and João de Teive, his son), donated on 20 January 1453 to D. Afonso of Bragança, its captainy was eventually ceded by João Teive to Fernão Teles de Mensese on 20 January 1475. On 1 March 1504, the captaincy was donated to João da Fonesca by D. Manuel I. The village was founded in a sheltered bay, facilitating the easy disembarkation of goods and provisions, protected from westerly winds. The first documented settlement, by the Fleming Willem van der Haegen, occurred in the zone of Ribeira da Cruz (north of the parish) in the 16th century. By 1510, the area of Lajes consisted of a significant population; it had benefited from its natural port and the settlement was elevated to the status of vila by the Portuguese government (responsible for administering the south and western portions of the island) by 1515 (making it the oldest settlement in the Western Group with this status).

In the aftermath of the battle, in his capacity as King of Cochin, the Trimumpara Raja gave Duarte Pacheco Pereira a personal grant of arms, described as a red shield ("for the immense blood of the Calicut which he shed in this war"), with five golden crowns in saltire ("for the five kings he defeated") and a white bordure with blue waves, charged with eight wooden castles in green, each mounted on two ships ("for the two times he defeated these eight castles"). Around the shield, are seven pennants, three red, two white, two blue ("for the seven assaults led by the King of Calecut in person and the seven flags of these colors and shapes he seized"), and an open silver helm, mantled in gold and red, and for crest a castle topped with a red pennant (for Cochin?).Doc. 8 in Duarte Pacheco Pereira (1509: p.xix) Duarte Pacheco Pereira was relieved as commander of Fort Manuel of Cochin by Manuel Teles de Vasconcelos, and set to return to Portugal with the 6th Armada in January 1505.

Its geography contributed to the colonization: On 24 April 1281, King Dinis of Portugal, conceded the ownership of Abrantes to Queen Elizabeth of Portugal. Afonso IV of Portugal transferred the title of the religious parish to the Knights Hospitaller, in 1327, and granted Abrantes to Leonor Teles. Partners of the Master of Avis, the Abrantinos were one of the first to support the Lisboete movement of 1383, among them Fernando Álvares de Almeida, protector of the Casa de Abrantes. King Manuel stayed in Abrantes for a long period; by 1510 he conceded a new foral to the town; and his children, the Infantes Fernando and Luís were born in Abrantes. During the 16th century, Abrantes and its religious parish was one of the largest and more populous lands in the Kingdom, with 3,436 inhabitants, four convents and 13 chapels or churches within its frontiers. In 1581, in his move to Tomar, Philip I of Portugal stopped in Abrantes for several days, and during his reign was responsible for the reconstruction of Abrantes' municipal buildings.

During the preparation of the marriage contract, the King of Castile objected to the dowry assigned to Beatrice and also disagreed that his sons by her had to be raised in Portugal, that Queen Leonor Teles could hold the regency in Portugal, and that the border fortresses had to be in Portuguese hands, but in view that it offered hm the Kingdom of Portugal, these objections were viewed as secondary and he accepted the agreement.Campos 2008, p. 136. Pedro de Luna, a pontifical legate for the Kingdoms of Castile, Aragon, Portugal and Navarre, solemnized the betrothal at Elvas on 14 May 1383,Fernão Lopes, Chronicle of D. Ferdinand, chapters CLXIV - CLXVII and the official wedding ceremony took place on 17 May in Badajoz Cathedral. To ensure compliance with the Treaty, on 21 May a group of Castilian knights and prelates swore to denaturalize from the Kingdom and fight against their monarch if the Castilian King broke the agreements made in the marriage contract, and in the same way a group of Portuguese knights and prelates (among them the Master of Aviz) made the same oath if the Portuguese King broke the treaty with Castile.
