In 1951-52, the tea urn was featured in the Eliel Saarinen Memorial Exhibition which travelled to multiple venues across the United States. In addition to Cranbrook, the Dallas Museum and the St Louis Museum, The British Museum in London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art also hold tea urn-related Eliel Saarinen designs.(March 16, 2016). They are a metal vessel containing a few pints of water. Inside the vessel is a steam heating coil. When hot or boiling water is required, a valve is opened and steam from the boat's propulsion boiler is passed through the coil, heating the water.

Design objects from this era from Meriden have also been included in over 200 national and international exhibitions and expositions since the 1850s. In the tearoom there was a tuck shop, the window to which was located midway along a corridor. The children had all started to line up along the corridor to buy sweets at the tuck shop. At this time a large tea urn was being carried along the corridor by two adults, to the main room of the tearoom. For a reason which was not explained, the hold of one of the bearers slipped so that tea was spilt and scalded several children (Muir being one of them).

The RAN also acquired a Tracker Weapons Systems Trainer to support the aircraft. This system was delivered in 1967, and was initially installed in a pair of trailers; one trailer carried cockpit and instrument consoles and the other a computer, electronics and a workshop. The Tracker Weapons Systems Trainer was badly damaged by a fire started in a tea urn before it entered service, and had to be sent back to the United States for repairs. After these were complete, the system was installed in a building at HMAS Albatross.

Tea ladies entered the mainstream in the UK during the Second World War, when they were used in an experiment to boost efficiency in workplaces for the war effort. They had such a hugely positive effect on morale they became commonplace in all areas of work, mobile canteens even serving military units on exercises. They were present in a works canteen or perhaps came round with a trolley, on which was usually a tea urn full of either hot tea or hot water, and perhaps a selection of cakes and buns.

Connah's Quay High School (CQHS, ) is an 11–16 mixed, English-medium, community comprehensive secondary school in Connah's Quay, Flintshire, Wales. A £2.3 million science, English and music wing was completed in October 2002, after a two-year project also involving extensions and redevelopment of the existing buildings. When Prince Andrew, Duke of York visited the school to declare the new block officially open, the opening ceremony was interrupted by a fire alarm caused by a hot tea urn. Connahs Quay High School underwent further modernisation in 2018, with the demolition and complete rebuild of the old food and design wing.

Alan Kane has produced a number of works in collaboration with Jeremy Deller such as the Folk Archive, 2005, a collection and documentation of contemporary popular art from across the United Kingdom in the form of an exhibition and accompanying catalogue, and Souped Up Tea Urn & Teapot (Dartford 2004), 2004, which consists of a teapot and tea run the type of which are commonly found in village halls given a flamed paint effect as found commonly on Harley Davisons and is part of the Tate Collection. In 2008 he produced The Stratford Hoard, a commission for Transport for London that consisted of a series of exhibitions celebrating residents living locally to Stratford train Station's collections including postcards, sugar sachets, football boots, masking tape, wind-up toys, electric guitars and Beatles memorabilia. In 2009 Kane was commissioned by Artangel to produce Life Class, a series of life-drawing classes which aired on Channel 4 and were hosted by John Berger, Judy Purbeck, Maggi Hambling, Gary Hume and Humphrey Ocean. In 2011 Kane developed Home for Orphaned Dishes as the Children's Commission for Whitechapel Gallery, which displayed a collection of studio pottery as a counterpoint to contemporary slick mass-produced design.
