1977: A round one fixture for Moturoa AFC against Opunake ends in a 2–2 stalemate. Penalties decide the tie with Opunake taking the honours in an upset, 3–1. 1978: 5–0 victories, versus Waitara in round one and over Central City in round two. Round three Taranaki United were drawn and the tie was lost 3–0.

New Zealand resumed a local competition in 1974. By 1975, Papua New Guinea had gained independence and test matches began to be played against teams from Australia. The first ever full international match involving Australia was played in 1977 at under 17 level between Australia and Papua New Guinea in Adelaide, with Australia taking the honours. Since then, Australia have been peerless in the sport and seldom compete at international level.

Jalabert and Fondriest headed off in a two-man sprint on San Remo's Via Roma, with Jalabert easily taking the honours. The 26-year old Jalabert became the fourth rider to win the classicissima after winning Paris–Nice one week prior – joining Fred De Bruyne, Eddy Merckx and Sean Kelly. The first Western Regionals were held in San Diego on August 14 and 15 of 2004, with the Denver Bulldogs winning the tournament. The 2005 series round 1 was held in Orange County and round 2 in Denver, again dominated by the Denver Bulldogs. The 2006 round 1 series was held in San Pedro, with San Diego Lions taking the honours. The second round was hosted at San Diego with the San Diego Lions also taking out the honours.

It was almost a double celebration as the reserve side missed out on top spot in the Kent League Division 2 with Folkestone's reserves taking the honours. The Ashford second string were however subsequently successful, taking the Kent League Division 2 title in the 1952–53 and 1955–56 campaigns. Four seconds behind, Vichot finished in eighth place in a sprint of over 20 riders. Melchers accelerated on the Valkenberg and dropped the other two, with Tenbosse, the Muur van Geraardsbergen and the Bosberg still to come. Melchers crested the top of the Muur with a one-minute lead on Soeder, who left Pitel behind, but began to lose speed on the Bosberg. The Austrian set off in pursuit of Melchers and bridged across in Ninove, with two kilometres remaining. The race was decided in a two-up sprint in Meerbeke, with Melchers taking the honours before a worn-out Soeder.

In the early 1970s, Australian clubs began touring PNG to compete against selections of local players but it wasn't until 1973 that the national team first began to form. 1977 was a historic year for Papua New Guinean footy. The year saw the first ever international matches involving Australia at under 17 level between Australia and Papua New Guinea. The Australian Under 17 squad toured Papua New Guinea, and the PNG team reciprocated in Adelaide, with Australia dominating the game and taking the honours.

The race has run every year since 1955, making it one of oldest races on the Cycling NSW open calendar. Organised by Cootamundra Cycling Club, past winners have included road professional Graeme Brown and 2010 Melbourne to Warrnambool winner Rhys Pollock. Traditionally the race was held in the last Saturday of August each year, it has now moved to fit with the NSW Cycling calendar. Cootamundra local man Garry Crowe holds the title of the most Coota Annual wins after taking the honours in 1968, 1975 and again in 1991 at the age of 50 years old.

The Worcestershire Senior Urn (officially The Worcestershire Football Association Senior Invitation Urn) is a football competition for Worcestershire County FA club teams, organized by the Worcestershire County Football Association. It began in the 1973-74 season with Malvern Town taking the honours in the first final. The Senior Urn is the less senior of the county's two main cups, and at present entry is restricted to those clubs which are affiliated to the County FA and compete in the highest division of the Midland Football Alliance, West Midlands (Regional) League, Midland Football Combination and Hellenic League. Clubs from higher leagues compete in the Worcestershire Senior Cup.

Parliament Square, Ramsey, Isle of Man during 2011 Classic Junior TT race, part of the Manx Grand Prix 2011 saw a mixed season for Farquhar. On the notable side, Ryan signed both fellow Irishman Adrian Archibald and Hungarian Sandor Bitter to campaign for the KMR Kawasaki squad. The move saw Bitter campaign a Superstock-spec Kawasaki ZX-10R at the three International road races – the North West 200, Isle of Man TT and Ulster Grand Prix – in the Superbike and Superstock races. Farquhar got his 2011 road racing season underway in perfect style when he dominated the Ian Watson Trophy races at Oliver's Mount, Scarborough. Farquhar won all 7 races that he started including the feature trophy race for the fourth consecutive year. This was followed up by Farquhar getting his Irish road race season off to a fantastic start when he dominated the Cookstown 100 road races, winning all five races he started, taking the honours in the Grand Final, Open, Supersport 600, 450 and Super Twin races.
