Taking pity on the girl, Tom let her stay with him when she told him she had no money and no place to stay. Though Meredith presented herself as a poor, downtrodden girl, both Nancy and Lisa had their doubts since she seemed too "chic" to be telling the truth about her circumstances.

Taking pity on Hilda, Zelda and Link use their Triforce to restore Lorule's own, allowing Hilda's kingdom to flourish once again. In the backstory of Breath of the Wild (2017), Zelda tries to awaken her sacred power but has great difficulty in doing so. This is especially worrisome as Ganon's prophesied return is imminent; she is thus seen as a failure.

Some days after Twain was cured, the Reverend visits him; he is in a terrible state, as the jingle, which keeps on repeating in his head, has already disabled his concentration. Frodo tied an Elvish rope around Gollum's ankle as a leash, but the mere touch of the rope pained him. Taking pity on the wretched creature, just as Bilbo once had, Frodo made Gollum swear to help them.

Writers Alec Berg and Jeff Schaffer came up with multiple endings to the episode's different plot threads. Low on gas, the two pull into a service station, where they meet Chad and Oliver, who are experiencing car trouble. Taking pity on the two men, the girls offer them a ride, and the quartet leave, not realizing they were being watched by a one- eyed, Swedish-speaking man, who uses a walkie-talkie to report what he has seen to his comrades.

723 n. 801. Camaret, Brittany Rocky coast – Brittany While Arveragus is absent, Dorigen is courted against her will by another suitor, a squire named Aurelius. Finally, to get rid of him and in a lighthearted mood, she makes a rash promise and tells Aurelius that he might have her love providing he can dispose of all the rocks on the coast of Brittany. Aurelius finally manages to secure the services of a magician-scholar of the arcane arts, who, taking pity on the young man, for the princely sum of a thousand pounds agrees "thurgh his magik" to make all the rocks "aweye" "for a wyke or tweye" (possibly by association with an exceptionally high tide).

They question Jack and Max about Ronnie and Roxy, so Jack's stepmother, Dot Branning (June Brown), explains to them with sensitivity that they are "God's angels" and are watching them in heaven. Where Snow was when the Adversary's forces began their systematic assault on the Homelands is unknown. What is known is that she seemingly remained in nobility, perhaps taking control over the Evil Queen's lands, and she joined with Rose in leaving their home and journeyed to a distant land, searching for a legendary witch's cave which supposedly contained a passage leading to a distant world that would serve as a refuge. Along the way they came across the burned down gingerbread cottage of a witch (of Hansel and Gretel fame), whose charred, skeletal body clung to life within her oven. Taking pity on her, Rose Red and a reluctant Snow White, whose own experiences with witches left her cautious, nursed the witch back to health and took her with them on their journey.

However, the Emperor of Heaven, taking pity on the starving people of the Earth, and wishing to help them, sent the Oxen with the message that if they worked hard, they would starve no more, and that they could be sure to have a meal at least every three days. It is now a few years into the war, and after being told to 'keep the noise down' during firing practice, Mainwaring and Wilson discuss how Complacency is setting in amongst the townsfolk, and how people are seeing them as 'Geriactric Fusiliers'. As they discuss it, they are interrupted by ARP Warden Hodges who is in tears after Mr Blewitt verbally attacked him for trying to do his job, and how people don't seem to be taking the war seriously. Remembering the national reaction after the Platoon were recently mistaken for enemy agents during a training exercise (see Ring Dem Bells), Mainwaring decides to get his platoon to masquerade as fifth columnists in "very sinister clothes" to shake everyone up and become appreciated again, and to prevent a repeat of last time he informs the Colonel at GHQ of the plan, called "Operation Wake-Up". Taking pity on him, Mainwaring invites Hodges to join them which he gratefully accepts.

She then attempts to contact Cārudatta and inform him of the situation, but before she can make contact he panics and sends Vasantasenā a rare pearl necklace that had belonged to his wife, a gift in great excess of the value of the stolen jewelry. In recognition of this, Cārudatta's friend, Maitreya, cautions the Brahmin against further association, fearing that Vasantasenā is, at worst, scheming to take from Cārudatta the few possessions he still has and, at best, a good-intentioned bastion of bad luck and disaster. Refusing to take this advice, Cārudatta makes Vasantasenā his mistress and she eventually meets his young son. During the encounter, the boy is distressed because he has recently enjoyed playing with a friend's toy cart of solid gold and no longer wants his own clay cart that his nurse has made for him. Taking pity on him in his sadness, Vasantasenā fills his little clay cart with her own jewelry, heaping his humble toy with a mound of gold before departing to meet Cārudatta in a park outside the city for a day’s outing.
