It continued to be operational until July 1885, but on April 30, 1905, it was destroyed in a fire. In 1884 the United States Indian Industrial Training School was opened in Lawrence. Boys were taught the trades of tailor making, blacksmithing, farming and others while girls were taught cooking and homemaking. In 1887 the name was changed to the Haskell Institute, after Dudley Haskell, a legislator responsible for the school being in Lawrence.

London-based men's wear designer Lou Dalton was born in Shropshire and grew up in Hodnet. She was inspired to become a fashion designer after seeing an episode of "This Is Your Life" starring Zandra Rhodes when she was 12 years old. She left school at age 16 in 1989 to start an apprenticeship at Pardie Clothing, a tailoring business in Market Drayton, where she worked as a bespoke menswear tailor making shooting garments. She returned to education in 1996 to study menswear at the Royal College of Art, where she became friends with womenswear designer Holly Fulton.

For these kinds of processes traditional linear and empirical model predictive control was considered less suitable. Development focused on developing products which were suitable to nonlinear processes as well as tailor-making nonlinear physical models for this intended use.

Haydon Old Church There is a gruesome legend connected with the old church, given in detail in William Lee's Haydon Bridge and District. It is the old story of the girl who longed for finery which she could not afford. Watching the local tailor making a coat for her master at Altonside Farm, the girl pestered the tailor so much that at length he made a bargain with her. If she would go to the old church at Haydon at midnight and bring back the communion book from the altar, he would make her a coat which would enhance her charms in the eyes of her lover.

Kuoni was founded in 1906 by the entrepreneur Alfred Kuoni in Zurich, Switzerland, where the firm has continued to be based. Over time, Kuoni grew to be the biggest travel company in Switzerland. In 1966, Peter Diethelm established the Kuoni UK tour operation. During 1970, Kuoni introduced the country's first charter flight to the Far East. In 1974, the company took over Houlders World Holidays and relocated its tour operation to new headquarters in Dorking, Surrey, after which it launched a long-haul tour programme. During 1980, Kuoni adopted a computerised reservations system, which the firm has credited with dramatically improving both the speed and flexibility of tailor-making its holidays. In 1981, Kuoni introduced its first batch of summer holidays to Switzerland. During 1983, Kuoni was awarded the first Travel Weekly award for Britain’s Best Longhaul Tour Operator.
