He turned ZAS into one of the most important Argentine rock bands of the early 80s. In 1986, Mateos recorded in the United States his first solo album (officially, but in practice he still used members of ZAS as supporting band). With a much more polished sound, and greater pop accessibility than the ZAS works, Mateos jumped on the crest of the wave of Argentine rock acts that dominated the 1986-1988 period all over Latin America, Spain, and elsewhere. Solos en América was considered a watershed album containing cuts that would become classics of Rock en Español from that time, including the homonymous track, "Cuando Seas Grande", and "Mi Sombra en la Pared".
The band was regionally known, working its way from appearances in village pubs and gigs at biker meetings up to an appearance as supporting band of "Extrabreit". Hübner was a disc jockey with a focus on Rock music and Heavy Metal. Jensen and Hübner developed the idea to organise an open-air concert in a gravel pit in Wacken and persuaded Skyline drummer Andreas Göser and Jörg Jensen, Thomas Jensen's brother, to help make it happen. Until then, the pit had already served as a meeting venue for up to 3,000 members of biker club 'No Mercys', it was therefore perfectly suited for their plans and also presented an opportunity to attract motorcycle fans.
The Velvet Underground, 1968 In 1964, Reed moved to New York City to work as an in-house songwriter for Pickwick Records. That year he wrote and recorded the single "The Ostrich", a parody of popular dance songs of the time, which included lines such as "put your head on the floor and have somebody step on it". His employers felt that the song had hit potential, and assembled a supporting band to help promote the recording. The ad hoc band, called the Primitives, included Welsh musician John Cale, who had recently moved to New York to study music and was playing viola in composer La Monte Young's Theatre of Eternal Music, along with Tony Conrad.
In 1982, two tracks from what was initially intended as a demo session were released as a single, "Doing The Inglish", with the B-side "Bramsley", designed to accompany the group's appearance at the Cambridge Folk Festival and their transmission on the BBC TV programme A Little Night Music. Bass player Malcolm Bennett then left the band to work as Musical Director of the National Theatre's production of Aeschylus' Oresteia and was replaced by Jon Davie. Further recording was delayed by their return to the National Theatre as a supporting band. Having been joined by keyboard player Steve King while recording, among considerable expectations, they released their eponymous first album in 1984.
Bubbi recorded his first solo album in 1979, a blend of rock, blues and reggae, and published it the following year as Ísbjarnarblús. ;In Utangarðsmenn His first important band was Utangarðsmenn (The Outsiders), a punk band that led the new wave movement in Iceland. The band was formed with Michael D. Pollock (Mickey Dean), Daniel Pollock (Dirty Dan), drummer Magnús Stefánsson and bassist Rúnar Erlingsson. Utangarðsmenn gained renown in Iceland by means of extensive press coverage and several gigs, including three at Laugardalshöll, Iceland's biggest sports arena, where one of the gigs they performed was as supporting band for The Clash. Bubbi left the band after the fourth album, Í Upphafi Skyldi Endinn Skoða in 1981, and the others continued the band with the new name "Bodies".
According to Reis, however, the first day of sessions was "a disaster" and Eller left the studio "infuriated". On the following day the producer even proposed that he resigned from his position, but Eller asked him to stay and they resumed work on the album. In order to record "O Segundo Sol" ("The Second Sun"), they contemplated inviting Neil Young's supporting band Crazy Horse. Songwriter Reis says he's known of many theories of what the "second sun" could be; according to him, the track originated in a conversation he had with a friend who told him in a confident manner that, according to her beliefs, a second sun would eventually rise, to which he jokingly replied asking how didn't NASA know about that.
In 1993, Grohl was recruited to help recreate the music of The Beatles' early years for the movie Backbeat; he played drums in an "all-star" lineup that included Greg Dulli of the Afghan Whigs, indie producer Don Fleming, Mike Mills of R.E.M., Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, and Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum. A music video was filmed for the song "Money" while Grohl was with Nirvana on their 1994 European tour, footage of Grohl was filmed later and included. Later in 1994, Grohl played drums on two tracks for Mike Watt's Ball-Hog or Tugboat?. In early 1995, Grohl and Foo Fighters played their first US tour, the Ring Spiel Tour both opening for Watt and playing with Eddie Vedder as Watt's supporting band.
Ein kleines bisschen Horrorschau ("A little bit of horrorshow") (subtitled: Die Lieder aus Clockwork Orange und andere schmutzige Melodien ["The songs from Clockwork Orange and other dirty melodies"]) is the sixth LP by Die Toten Hosen, released in 1988. This is considered by the band as the best DTH album as of 1988. The LP is mainly a concept album based on the film A Clockwork Orange by Stanley Kubrick, which in turn is based on the book of the same name by Anthony Burgess, although not all of the songs are about the main theme. The idea of the LP has its origin during a performance of A Clockwork Orange at Theater Bonn where the band acted as supernumeraries and as supporting band.
The Bleeding Heart Band was the name Roger Waters gave his backing band for a brief period of his post-Pink Floyd solo career. Although Waters released The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking in 1984, and toured as a solo artist promoting that album (with an unnamed supporting band), he was still a member of Pink Floyd, and did not leave the group until late 1985. The name of the band most likely comes from the phrase "the bleeding hearts and artists" found on the tracks "The Trial" and "Outside the Wall" on Pink Floyd's 1979 double album The Wall (an album which Waters was heavily involved in). His first music as an ex-member of Pink Floyd was several contributions to the soundtrack to When the Wind Blows.
Their second full-length studio album, "Hyperalgesia" was recorded in Gossip Studios, Chicago and released in May 2015 with help of prolific music producer and mixer Joe Chiccarelli, who has in the past produced dozens of albums for well-known acts and singers (The Strokes, The Killers, U2, Jason Mraz). The band promoted the material from their new release on their “All My Friends Are Dead” Tour (name taken from the lyrics of the first track of the album “All My Friends”) throughout September 2016. In November 2015 the group released a Christmas-themed song titled “This Holiday”. The group tours regularly, since 2006 performing yearly and playing more than 85 concerts at multiple venues across the US, either headlining as a main act or, mainly prior 2010, appearing as a supporting band.
The new album was instead a fusion of jazz, rock music, and South African popular music; it sold much better than Ibrahim's previously collaborations with Vally. While recording Underground, Ibrahim collaborated with Oswietie, a local band of which Robbie Jansen and Basil Coetzee were saxophonists, and who played a large role in creating the album's fusion style. After the success of Underground, Ibrahim asked Coetzee to bring together a supporting band for his next recording: the group Coetzee put together included Jansen, as well as others who had not worked on Underground. "Mannenberg" was recorded in June 1974 during one of Ibrahim's visits to South Africa, in a studio in Cape Town, and was produced by Rashid Vally on his new label As-Shams (the name suggested by Ibrahim, meaning in Arabic "The Sun").
"Chit Chat" was featured in the Cyber Bully soundtrack. In addition to touring to support the album, Georgas also performed some dates on the 2010 Lilith Fair tour. In an interview with Side-Line right after the shortened North American tour vocalist Bill Leeb said that the band intended to make up for the cancelled dates after they would return from the European leg. Asked what conclusions he had drawn from this experience, Leeb responded: "I will never get on a bus without seeing a written contract stating that I have the bus from point A to B. Let's just say I have never been fucked by a bus company before." Supporting band Stromkern blamed the booking agency for the problems, suggesting "the booking agency [...] pocketed the deposits and has vanished off the face of the earth.

Kakoma adopted the moniker Lous and the Yakuza from an anagram for soul, the source of her musical passion, and Yakuza, Japan's organized crime syndicate, the name of which she uses to describe her "crew" of collaborators on whom she relies to create her music. Lous was first discovered by her manager, Miguel Fernandez, after he found her releases on the internet. Beginning in 2017, she realized her passion to create an album, enlisted many of her close friends to form a supporting band, and began performing at bars and nightclubs in the Brussels underground culture. In late 2017, Lous was invited to perform an acoustic set for La ChillZone, after which she was signed to Columbia Records through Sony Music in France, at the age of 22.
