Once living spaces and life support systems are in place, the EPFL team envisions a six-person human crew voyaging to the planet during the six-month-long Martian northern summer, when sunlight is abundant for solar power production (the Martian calendar has longer seasons than Earth's calendar, because the Martian year lasts 687 Earth days).

The use of big data and its analysis by machine learning and artificial intelligence offer unparalleled prospects for improving medical care: first of all, in the area of predictive medicine, including early diagnosis and disease prevention; second, with regard to decision-support systems that produce more accurate diagnoses than human physicians can; and third — precision medicine.

Many of the artists I had the pleasure of speaking to, like poet Adrian Matejka, or dancer Jonah Bokaer (who has worked in collaboration with Daniel Arsham and Snarkitecture), expressed how humbled they were to be given an opportunity to focus on new bodies of work and find new support systems to disseminate them without the impending weight of the creative industry.

The capsule will be fully equipped with all life-support systems it would need to actually support a crew on board, but there won't be anyone actually on it for this one, as the intent is to prove the safety and effective operation of the system prior to Artemis 2, an intended crewed launch to follow Artemis 1 a few years down the road.

At the same time — and here the negatives pile in — workers on the platforms lack collective bargaining so are simultaneously experiencing a hothouse of competitive marketplace and algorithmic management pressure, combined with feelings of social isolation (with most working from home), and the risk of overwork and exhaustion as a result of a lack of regulations and support systems, as well as their own economic needs to get tasks done to earn money.

Given that Trump has promised everything — before contradicting himself — there is ample room to comb his campaign speeches and create a continuous stream of legislative proposals claiming his support; better, less expensive healthcare insurance, taking care of women, making veterans support systems accountable, creating 6 percent growth in the gross domestic product, creating 25 million new jobs, protecting workers, simplifying the tax code, making a fairer tax system, and "draining the swamp" with campaign finance restrictions, term limits and curbing lobbying.
