James Henry "Tish" Corbitt (20 October 1913 – 28 November 1950)Birth registration was an English murderer hanged at Strangeways Prison in Manchester by Albert Pierrepoint. Corbitt was born in Oldham and knew his hangman even before he committed the crime. At the time of the murder, he was a frequent customer in Pierrepoint’s pub "Help The Poor Struggler" (on Manchester Road, in the Hollinwood area of Oldham), sang with him round the piano and called him "Tosh" while Pierrepoint called him "Tish" (Tish and Tosh were, at that time, common nicknames used between people who were passing acquaintances but who did not know each other's names; they were also the names of two popular fictional comic characters). After taking the lead two furlongs out he faded in the closing stages and finished tenth behind the French outsider Don't Worry Me. Ya Malak continued his busy schedule with three races in July. At Sandown on the fifth of the month he faced his old rivals Eveningperformance and Bolshoi in the Sprint Stakes and started third favourite behind Struggler (Prix de Saint-Georges)and To The Roof (1996 Epsom Dash).

Born in Ourém, Santarém District, Laranjeiro started his career at U.D. Leiria in 2001–02, becoming a first-team regular two seasons later, with the club always in the Primeira Liga. In the 2007–08 campaign, he scored two goals from the penalty spot in the UEFA Intertoto Cup match against FK Hajduk Kula, as his team made it to the UEFA Cup on a 4–2 aggregate (1–0 defeat, 4–1 home win). In August 2008, upon Leiria's relegation, Laranjeiro joined another top-flight struggler, Matosinhos' Leixões SC, starting most of his debut season to help them finish in sixth position. After only eight second level matches in 2010–11, he left the club and signed for C.D. Fátima of division three.

After finishing sixth behind the three-year-old Mind Games in the Palace House Stakes on 6 May he was sent to Germany and finished third to Wessam Prince in the Bénazet-Rennen over 1200 metres at Baden-Baden. On 20 June Piccolo contested the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot and started a 20/1 outsider in a ten-runner field. Mind Games was made favourite whilst the other runners were Hoh Magic (Prix Morny), Fard (Middle Park Stakes), Millstream (Cornwallis Stakes), Millyant (Prix du Petit Couvert, Prix du Gros Chêne), Eva Luna (Phoenix Stakes), Struggler (Prix de Saint Georges), Eveningperformance (Scarbrough Stakes) and Mistertopogigo.

After the war, Pierrepoint left the delivery business, and took over the lease of a pub, the Help the Poor Struggler on Manchester Road, in the Hollinwood area of Oldham. After the season, he was sold to Reggina at Serie A. In the first season, Vicari played twice for first team and played at youth level. In the second season, he was promoted to first team in December 2000. He played 21 league matches for the Serie A struggler, which lost to Verona in relegation playoffs. At Serie B, he became a first team regular and scored 1 goal. Reggina finished 3rd and won Serie A promotion. Vicari was not in the plan of Reggina's Serie A campaign, and he was loaned to Messina, last year struggling at Serie B. At his second Sicilian club, he played 31 league matches and scored once against local rival and former club Palermo. At 2003-04 season, he was loaned to Ascoli of Serie B which finished mid-table. He failed to play regularly and he was sold to Verona of Serie B in co-ownership bid on 30 January 2004.
