The Fairfield Group of fells stands between Grasmere and the Kirkstone Pass. The watershed runs south east from Fairfield, crossing Hart Crag, Dove Crag, Little Hart Crag and Red Screes. Dove Crag shows its unassuming back to Rydal in the west, while great crags command the head of Dovedale on the opposite side of the ridge. A lower tier of crags juts out into the valley with Stangs at its head, dividing Dovedale Beck from its main tributary, Hogget Gill.

This game is always important because of the ongoing rivalry between the two schools since the split. The current principal is Dr. Torian White, who took over in 2019. He is the first principal of South Effingham who is also a graduate of the school, graduating in the class of 1999. Josh Reddick was a starter for player for the Stangs baseball team before getting drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 17th Round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft.

In Bergen he started his political career and in 1883 he was elected to the county council. In 1885 he was elected as a member of the Norwegian Parliament. He had a brilliant career in the Parliament, and in his second period he was appointed President of the lower house (Odelsting). As the President of the Odelsting, he was central in the conflict leading to Prime Minister Emil Stangs stepping down from office. In 1891 he stepped up as Minister of Education and Church Affairs under the government of Johannes Steen.

The Black Dub is a stream in Cumbria, United Kingdom. It rises to the west of the village of Langrigg, in the civil parish of Bromfield, where it is known as Dub Stangs, and flows west past Scroggs Wood and the village of Westnewton. As it passes near the hamlets of New Cowper and Edderside it forms the southern boundary of the civil parish of Holme St. Cuthbert, and the northern boundary of the civil parish of Allonby, before entering the Solway Firth at Dubmill, at the northern end of Allonby Bay. It is seven miles (eleven kilometres) in length.
