The Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation (HKSSF, ) is a non-profit schools sports organisation based in Hong Kong. Formed in 1 September 1997, it is the sports governing body of different major school sports events, organising local secondary and primary schools inter-school, inter-area competitions. Turkish Cypriots cannot participate in international sports competitions. The International Olympic Committee bans Turkish Cypriots from participating in the Olympic Games as independent athletes under the Olympic flag, and requires them to compete under the flag of a recognized country. Meliz Redif, the first Turkish Cypriot to participate in the Olympics, thus had to obtain Turkish citizenship, while some athletes refuse to compete for another country.

The annual inter-collegiate festival Ignus, usually held in the month of February is a cultural and technical festival hosted by the student body. It features competitions and events involving participants from all over the country, and concerts by eminent performers. The annual inter-collegiate sports week, Varchas is another event organized by the student body. It involves participation from a number of institutes around the country in various sports competitions including athletics, badminton, basketball, football, cricket, chess, tennis, table tennis, volleyball and Jodhpur mini- marathon.

On 6 July 1932, the Northam branch of Toc H visited Clackline School. Despite unfavourable weather, they successfully held sports competitions throughout the day, with prizes awarded, followed by entertainment in the evening, attended by children and adults in the public hall. On 12 December 1942, the Clackline School children participated in the dedication and consecration of the Avro Anson Memorial, which commemorates four Royal Australian Air Force airmen killed nearby earlier that year. Different countries and Russian regions hold regional stages, so that the maximum number of children who have survived cancer are able to take part in the Winners Games. The team that will go to the World Children's Winners Games in Moscow is selected from the participants of this stage. In 2018 regional stages will be held in 4 countries (Hungary, Bulgaria, Belarus, and Kazakhstan), as well as in 10 Russian regions (Belgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, Chelyabinsk, Kaliningrad, Orenburg, Perm, Rostov, Samara, Tver and Sverdlovsk Regions). Approximately 1,300 children will take part in sports competitions.

Although much attention is given to Academics, the school places heavy resources in building the other facets of wholesome education. Deai Dome and Fureai Dome The most recognizable features of the Memorial Center are its two domes, the larger Deai Dome (で愛ドーム Deai Dōmu) and the smaller Fureai Dome (ふれ愛ドーム Fureai Dōmu). Though the Deai Dome's capacity (4,500 people) is much larger than the Fureai Dome's (600 people), both facilities are able to accommodate international and nationwide sports competitions and events. They can play host to basketball, volleyball, table tennis, indoor tennis, gymnastics, in addition to other indoor sports. The domes can also be used for meetings, ceremonies and exhibitions.

Beaumont School has six houses with a form for every year in each year using the letters of the word 'L E A R N S'. In September 2009, the school introduced a house system. The 2020 America East Conference Baseball Tournament was a baseball tournament that was scheduled to be held from May 20 to 23, 2020. The top six teams out of the league's seven members were to meet in the double-elimination tournament held at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Massachusetts, the home park of UMass Lowell. The tournament champion was to receive the conference's automatic bid into the 2020 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. On March 12, 2020, the NCAA cancelled all winter and spring sports competitions due to the coronavirus pandemic, thus cancelling the tournament.

The Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions is a multilateral treaty that aims to prevent, detect, and punish match fixing in sport. The convention was concluded in Macolin/Magglingen, Switzerland, on 18 September 2014. At its conclusion, it was immediately signed by 15 states of the Council of Europe; it is open to ratification of Council of Europe states and other states that were involved in its negotiation. Scotch College teams regularly compete in the PSA sports competitions. The China Zheng-Kai International Marathon (, Zheng-Kai stands for "Zhengzhou-Kaifeng", also abbreviated "ZK") is a sporting event hosted jointly by the Chinese Athletic Association, the general sport administration of Henan province, Zhengzhou municipal government, and the Kaifeng municipal government. Plans to build a multipurpose arena in Lisbon date back to the first discussions of the Expo '98 Master Plan. At the time, the city lacked a versatile facility able to accommodate concerts, congresses and sporting events of big scope. The World Disc Games (WDG) is a semi-regular event that brings the entire world flying disc community together for a week of overall disc events that allow people to compete in and enjoy disc sports. Beginning in 1978, and originally called the Santa Cruz Flying Disc Classic, the WDG has its home in Santa Cruz, California, with promoter and hall of fame disc sport player Tom Schot. Disc sports competitions at the WDG include ultimate, freestyle, disc golf, discathon, self-caught flight, accuracy, distance, and double disc court. In July 2003, World Disc Games X held in Santa Cruz with over 500 participants.

Over the past number of decades in all areas of Western Canada there has been a remarkable hosting of sports competitions of all kinds, held under a wide variety of authorities, but all, in their own individual sport rights, worthy, effective and official. These have been local and area competitions, regional and provincial games, some featuring many sports, some held in the winter season, some in the summer, and some staged indoors with others, outdoors. QEH operates a house system whereby students are allocated to one of four houses and engage in house activities including academic competitions (such as foreign language readings), sports competitions, house drama, house choir, house music ensemble and many others. Each house is named after one of the school's notable patrons. The four houses are Bird's, named after William Bird, Mayor of Bristol 1589-90 and major benefactor of the school; Carr's, named after school founder John Carr; Hartnell's, named after Samuel Hartnell; Ramsey's, named after Lady Mary Ramsey. Having been invaded by the Axis Powers in 1941, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia was dissolved and sports competitions in the nation were suspended. One exception was the Independent State of Croatia (NDH), which enjoyed peace as an Axis member, so the NDH continued to hold national competitions featuring prominent Croatian clubs. William Penny Brookes (13 August 1809 – 11 December 1895) was an English surgeon, magistrate, botanist, and educationalist especially known for inspiring the modern Olympic Games, the Wenlock Olympian Games and for his promotion of physical education and personal betterment. Motivated by the plight of the working classes, he founded the Wenlock Agricultural Reading Society (WARS) in 1841 for the "diffusion of useful knowledge" which included a library for working-class subscribers. Interest groups called "classes" met at the Corn Exchange, the WARS headquarters, and in 1850, the Olympian Class was formed to encourage athletic exercises, ranging from running to football, by holding an annual games offering prizes for sports competitions. Later, competitions for "cultural" events were added.

Essex Sport Arena Sport is an integral part of the living and learning experience for students and staff at Essex. The 2020 Colorado Buffaloes football team will represent the University of Colorado Boulder during the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season. A placing table is a team ranking system used in sports competitions that feature multiple finals. Baron Pierre de Coubertin founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894, leading to the first modern Games in Athens in 1896.

The facility was established in 1986 as a two-court indoor community netball stadium known as the Wendouree Netball Centre. During the late 2000s the popularity of Basketball, Netball and Badminton in the Ballarat region had significantly outgrown the capacity of existing stadia built during the 1970s at the nearby Hollioake Park sports complex. The Hollioake Park venues including the Ballarat Minerdome Basketball Stadium and the 'Ken Kay' Badminton Stadium, whilst extremely well maintained and modernised, their limited sizes impacted Ballarat's competitiveness in securing major indoor sports competitions as they were under heavy pressure from local demand. This prompted combined councils in the Ballarat region as well as Ballarat's indoor sporting associations to collectively advocate for funding to re-develop and expand the Wendouree Netball Centre into a major regional indoor multi-use sporting complex.

Dr. Brookes was a social reformer, who campaigned to give opportunities for what he termed "every grade of man" to expand their knowledge and become mentally and physically fit. He established the Wenlock Agricultural Reading Society (WARS) in 1841 to provide the opportunity of acquiring knowledge for the benefit of the people of the vast Borough of Wenlock and its neighbourhood, but especially to provide opportunities for the working classes. Administration Building of Nanyang Technological University, which is the site of the first Youth Olympic Village The International Olympic Committee (IOC) specified that all members of a National Olympic Committee team delegation had to stay overnight within the Youth Olympic Village for the duration of the Games, regardless of their competition schedules, "and shall participate in both sports competitions and in the culture and education programmes." IOC president Jacques Rogge stressed the need for athletes to enjoy their time at the Games and that "there should not be a gravity that you have at the traditional Games that's for later." The senior Olympic Games in contrast allow athletes and teams to leave the Games once their competition schedule has ended. Initial plans were for the YOV to be sited at the National University of Singapore's University Town, which was under construction.

This facility has been in operation since 1988 funded by CDBG funds and funds committed by the City of Pasadena. Programs first began at the Sherwood Recreation Center in the 1970s by citizens with family members with disabilities. In 1978 the facility was rebuilt and renamed the Verne Cox Center, after a City Councilman, with the creation of the Therapeutics Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. When the current facility was built at 5200 Burke Rd in South Pasadena on the North-Western corner of the intersection of Burke Rd and Genoa-Red Bluff Rd. The Verne Cox Multipurpose Recreation Center is home to the historic Texas International Shootout Wheelchair Basketball Tournament and has hosted the National Wheelchair Softball Tournament, National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, as well as United States Quad Rugby Association regional qualification tournaments and many Special Olympics individual sports competitions.

A world cup is generally considered the premier competition in its sport, with the victor attaining the highest honour in that sport and able to lay claim to the title of their sport's best. There are a number of notable popular sports competitions labeled "world cups", such as the ICC Cricket World Cup, but perhaps the best known is the FIFA World Cup (an association football tournament, first held in 1930), which is widely known simply as "the World Cup".

Pellegrini started gymnastics & tumbling at the age of three and had a rewarding 16-year career. By the age of seven, Pellegrini was picked to join the Advanced Development Program, which was set up to groom and develop the next generation of Olympic athletes. While training as an all round artistic gymnast, Daniella's natural ability for tumbling began to show and in 1992 Pellegrini qualified for the 11th Tumbling & Trampoline World Championships/World Age group Games. Due to the Apartheid government and international pressure, South Africa had been exiled from international sports competitions for almost a decade and Miss Pellegrini, alongside great tumblers like Tseko Mogotsi, was making history by being one of the first competitors to join the South African national team, to receive Springbok colours and to represent her country on an international platform.

Sculpture and painting exhibitions, book launches, meetings with personalities from the artistic or scientific world are just as many arguments in favour of choosing our University as a natural and normal place for training and development of future professionals, regardless of the chosen field of study. The BlueStreamline team, the electric car, the restoration school at the Faculty of Wood Engineering are other achievements of the University students under the professors’ guidance, which are recognized beyond the community of Brașov. Festivals, summer schools for students, conferences and workshops attended by teachers and students, volunteering, sports competitions, cultural and artistic performances are other activities in which students have participated over the years. For our future students, current high-school students, the University organizes yearly training in mathematics, computer science and Romanian language and literature, but also offers them extracurricular activities within events such as Leaders of tomorrow.

Keys is the sole author of two historical books. Her first book, Globalizing Sport: National Rivalry and International Community in the 1930s, was published in 2006 by Harvard University Press. In this book, Keys conducts one of the first large-scale examinations of the political and cultural impact of international sports competitions before World War II. Tracking the transformation of events like the World Cup and the Olympic Games, Keys's examines how and why these events evolved from small-scale occasions into the large-scale, heavily produced, politically impactful and globally watched events they remain today. The book is transnational in scope and nature, focusing on the United States, Nazi Germany, and the Soviet Union in the decades before the Second World War and details how countries of various, and sometimes seemingly oppositional, ideologies were impelled to participate in an emerging global sporting culture.

A monument in Nghĩa Lộ ;Muong Lo cultural week The Muong Lo Cultural Week held in the month of October in Nghia Lo town marks the anniversary of the liberation of Nghia Lo. A team of the 4x100 metres relay The first appearance of the Guardia di Finanza in the context of sports competitions dates back to 1911, with the participation of a team in the gymnastics competitions organized in Turin for the 50th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, but in fact the first organized structure, in fact the original nucleus of the Fiamme Gialle (Yellow Flames), was created in 1921 to participate in a walking race, the Scudo Nelli Trophy, which was finally awarded after three successes in 1922, 1925 and 1928. In the following years the activity was expanded with the establishment of several sports groups, the first of which was the Skiers Group, founded in 1925 at the Alpine School of the Guardia di Finanza in Predazzo (in the province of Trento), a group that became famous as the Yellow Flames of Predazzo.

At the Colonel of the Regiment he took all possible steps to revitalize this Regiment and to promote it by initiating competitions among Regimental Battalions and each unit in order to select the most active Battalion and all so, through these Sports competitions, valuable opportunities were given to the army persons to go ahead with their talents in the army. Among those competitions, there were Inter Units Athletics, Inter Units Rifle Competition, and Inter Units Drill Championship. In this way, having done a yeoman service to promote this Regiment to a higher standard in the Army, he left this Regiment on 16 June 2004 getting an official promotion, Handing over the regiment to Brigadier VKB Weerakoon KSV. One of the most valuable achievements gained by the members of this regiment during the period of this Colonel of the Regiment who work hard to make the Regiment perfect and developed was the war heroes’ memorial which was erected under one of his concepts and guidance.

Several efforts were made to provide facilities for physical education. In 1896, a cricket pavilion was built, and work began on a polo field. A year later, training in cricket, football, field hockey, and tennis was started. Following Aitchison's win in local sports competitions, the Aitchison Challenge Cup was established to honor the best sportsmen each year. In 1905, ACOBA (Aitchison College Old Boys Association) was established to allow the alumni of the school to compete against the current students in an event that brought together the alumni each year. In 1907, Aitchison College started sending contingents of sports teams to compete with schools outside Lahore and was allowed to host contingents from other schools. Swimming facilities were developed in 1923 and the Rani of Mandi Cup was established to honor the best swimmer of the year. The sports system soon evolved as competitions between the houses began in 1928. Hockey and tennis courts were established in 1938.

Winter Stadium and neighboring Swimming Pool Sport Česká Lípa, a contributory organization established by the town, manages local sports facilities including: the municipal stadium, which includes an open soccer pitch, tennis hall, outdoor tennis courts, hothouse and solarium; a sports hall (Lokomotiva); a sports complex featuring a reconstructed winter stadium and indoor pool with water slide, and a nearby skatepark; and the Sever Swimming Pool. Pata School Gym Other facilities include: the Olympia Relax Center; the TJ Lokomotiva soccer grounds; the Lada Airdrome; the Sosnová motor-racing circuit which hosts many motor sports competitions including the National Championship; several bowling alleys; and Boating Ploučnice on the river, used for canoes and kayaks from Stráž pod Ralskem. The District Committee of the Czech Union of Physical Education was previously an original administrative association, and is now the Česká Lípa District Sports Union. The town is home to Arsenal Česká Lípa, a football team, and various other clubs for different sports.

International boycotts against apartheid sports teams help bring the human rights crisis in South Africa to the forefront of global attention and sever white South Africans' cultural ties to the West. Knowing that fellow blacks in South Africa were denied even the most basic human rights - let alone the right to participate in international sports competitions - African nations refused to compete with all-white South African teams, boycotted the Olympics and created a worldwide media spectacle that forced the International Olympic Committee to ban apartheid teams from future games. The Africa-led coalition led the fight to exclude South Africa from soccer, boxing, track, cycling, judo, fencing, gymnastics, volleyball and numerous other competitions, and barred South African teams from nearly all sports events by the 1970s. Only South Africa's world champion rugby team remained, and citizens in key western countries where rugby is played took to the fields to close the last door on apartheid sports.

The 1962–63 Loyola Ramblers are often overlooked, or overshadowed by the 1965–66 Texas Western Miners, who won the 1966 NCAA Championship with an all-black starting lineup over an all-white Kentucky team. In a 2018 opinion piece for The Washington Post, Kevin Blackistone argues that the game did not actually bring about much change. Blackistone points to significant setbacks that the movement faced in Mississippi after the game, such as the murder of Vernon Dahmer and the shooting of James Meredith at the March Against Fear, and suggests that the modern narrative of the game is more of an urban legend than a truthful retelling. In a response letter to the editor, journalist Charles Paikert contends that, although the game did not cause sudden major change to ongoing racial tensions in the South, it did show that white athletes and students rejected the unwritten rule against interracial sports competitions.

This pattern is the very uniform commissioned by King Charles II for the drummers, trumpeters and timpanists of the Household Division then, and is in gold with the royal cypher of the reigning monarch and Colonel in Chief of the Household Division, with the cypher on the baldric. All five band drum majors, as well as the drum majors of the corps of drums and pipes and drums, wear round jockey caps in the full state dress and bearskins in the service state dress with the hackles of their units. These drum majors thus do not salute during state ceremonies, but during state arrival ceremonies and international sports competitions and events held in the London area they salute during the playing of the national anthems. The ceremonial leader of a band and bugles is known as a Bugle Major, who unlike other military drum majors, utilizes a shorter mace that is carried at the side of the torso.

The Bergvall system was a variation of the traditional knockout tournament system. It which was used at the 1912, 1920 and 1924 Summer Olympics after being devised by Erik Bergvall, a Swedish water polo player, journalist and sports official who wanted to improve on the traditional knockout method used in Olympic competitions. Believing that this was only fair in deciding the gold medal winner, Bergvall advocated separate competitions should also be held for the silver and bronze medals, probably not knowing a similar system had been in use for sports competitions in the United States as early as 1884. Bergvall also believed that teams knocked out in the early rounds of the main gold medal tournament should be given a second chance: all the teams knocked out by the gold medal winner, including the losing finalist, should compete in another knockout competition for the silver medal, then all the teams knocked out by the gold and silver medallists would compete in a third competition for the bronze.

ICSM also has a strong sporting ethos inherited from its predecessors. It enjoys frequent success against the other London medical schools in the United Hospitals and National Association of Medics' Sports competitions and in the BUCS league. While medical students may join ICU sports clubs (and non-medical students may join the medical clubs and societies), most prefer to participate in ICSM sports teams which, depending on the sport, may compete against Imperial College or other Imperial faculty teams such as the Royal School of Mines, such as in the annual Varsity competition, which involves teams from ICSM and IC. The competition culminates in the J.P.R. Williams Cup, named after the highly successful Welsh rugby player and doctor J.P.R. Williams, who graduated from St Mary's Hospital, London in 1973, with the 1st XVs of Imperial Medicals Rugby Club and ICU Rugby playing each other in front of a 1,500 strong crowd. Sir Roger Bannister, another St Mary's Hospital Medical School alumnus gives his name to the trophy for the annual varsity athletics meet.

Along with the development of the sport societies, official sports competitions started. The Great Soviet Encyclopedia states that usually those sports clubs and unions were chartered and financed by representatives of the bourgeoisie and of the nobility, and that access to them for students and working youth "was extremely limited". At the end of the 19th and start of the 20th centuries there appeared workers' sports organizations across the cities of the Russian Empire. Prominent roles in the development of the Russian sport were played by the "Petersburg's Circle of Sports Fans" (established in 1889), the "Russian Gymnastics Society" (1882, Moscow), the "Petersburg Society of Skating Fans" (1877), the "Circle of Athletic Fans" (1885, Petersburg), and others. In 1896 the founder of a scientific system of fitness education, Pyotr Lesgaft (1837–1909),Lesgaft at the Great Soviet Encyclopedia opened in Petersburg the courses of educators and leaders of physical education that eventually became a prototype of the higher-learning institutions in physical education established in the Soviet Union and abroad.

Green Archer Statue The De La Salle Green Archers in 2010 De La Salle has several varsity teams and sport clubs participating in different sports competitions, most notably basketball, volleyball, football and cheerleading. The university was a founding member in 1924 of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), in which it won five General Championships (1972–73, 1974–75, 1976–77, 1977–78, and 1980–81) until La Salle withdrew from the league in 1981. Br. John Lynam FSC, established the first De La Salle basketball team. In 1924, he was one of the organizers of the pre-war National Collegiate Athletic Association as the first and oldest collegiate athletic association in the Philippines composed of De La Salle, San Beda, Ateneo, Letran, UP, UST, FEU, NU and UM. In 1986, De La Salle University was admitted into the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), an intercollegiate sporting association formed in 1938. Ever since joining the UAAP in 1986, DLSU has won three UAAP General Championships – Season 75 (2012–13), Season 76 (2013–14), and Season 78 (2015–16), giving the university a combined eight General Championship titles in the seniors' division in the NCAA and UAAP.

The Sydney 2009 World Masters Games, the seventh edition of a four–yearly event that has developed into the world’s largest multi-sport event in terms of participation, was held from 10 October to 18 October 2009 in Sydney, the largest city in Australia and the capital city of New South Wales. Open to sportspeople of all abilities and most ages – the minimum age criterion ranges between 25 and 35 years depending on the sport – the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games included competitors from more than 100 countries who competed in 28 sports. Many of the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games sports competitions took place at 2000 Olympic Games venues, something that was not the case to any significant degree at any of the previous six World Masters Games. The Sydney International Regatta Centre, the Sydney International Shooting Centre and several Sydney Olympic Park facilities, including the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, the Sydney Olympic Park Archery Centre and the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre to list just three, were just some of the sites at which Sydney 2009 World Masters Games competitors competed.
