So far, Speakable has partnered with Vice, the Huffington Post and the Guardian U.S. But Hewson has yet to determine a business model behind these "action" buttons, which are algorithmically placed within articles.

This button, created by technology company Speakable, is launching today on news sites including The Huffington Post, Vice Impact, and The Guardian U.S. When you read a news article on one of those sites, you'll see the button, and have the option to quickly and easily take action by donating money, signing petitions, or taking a poll.

Speakable items is part of the speech recognition feature in the classic Mac OS and macOS operating systems. It allows the user to control their computer with natural speech, without having to train the computer beforehand. The commands must be present in the Speakable items folder though but can be created with something as simple as a shortcut, AppleScript, keyboard command, or Automator workflows.

Mac OS X v10.4 added Automator workflows which can also be used as Speakable items. If a workflow is saved as an application and put in the Speakable items folder it becomes available to the speech recognition software. The words the computer will recognize to execute the command will be the name of the saved Automator application. Some words might have to be misspelt for the computer to know the proper pronunciation.

Speakable items was first introduced as part of Apple's speech recognition software PlainTalk in 1993. Originally available only on Quadra AV models, it was later integrated with the System 7.1.2 release of the Macintosh system software. With the release of Mac OS X v10.4 it was featured as #12 on their list of features.

While Speakable Items is useful, as well as innovative, recognition gets hard and distorted some times. # In Macs without dual beamforming microphones (pre-2012), background noise interferes with recognition, and limits the usefulness of the "listening continuously" option. # Sometimes the pronunciation the computer understands varies from the proper pronunciation. This usually happens with custom commands.

In September 2019, Blue Dragon made a partnership agreement with the Australian Speech-language pathology clinic Speakable, so the clinic would become a member of supporting organizations. The clinic's owner, Binh Doan, has demonstrated interest on that partnership because of his own Vietnamese background. He designed the language so as to be speakable by human actors, combining syntactic and grammatical rules from other existing languages. Frommer created over a thousand words for the Naʼvi language and coached the actors who narrated Naʼvi characters. Nevertheless, it must be said that a more neutral vocabulary, perhaps even an a priori one, would be less offensive to some non-Europeans. In the 1990s and early 2000s, many proposals for auxlangs based on global sources of vocabulary and grammar have been made, but most (like the majority of the European-based auxlangs of earlier decades) remain sketches too incomplete to be speakable, and of the more complete ones, few have gained any speakers. More recently there has been a trend, on the AUXLANG mailing list and on the more recently founded worldlang mailing list, towards greater collaboration between various proponents of a more globally based auxlang.

In 1996 the prominent Russian director Roman Viktiuk proposed to Denisov to create a Russian scenic version of Billy Wilder's cult American movie Sunset Boulevard. The premiere of Victor Denisov's melodrama «Sunset Boulevard» took place at the Russian Theater of Estonia (Tallinn) in 1998. The part of the silent cinema star Norma Desmond was played by the Soviet and Ukrainian stage and film actress Ada Rogovtseva. The performance has toured in the Baltic Countries, Russia, Ukraine, Israel and USA. The craft of playwriting combined with academic education makes Denisov's translations of plays easily «speakable», not requiring a scenic adaptation. V.
