Soul Shake was released in July 2013. It was mixed my Theo Crous at Bellville Studios and mastered by Rogan Kelsey at Lapdust Studios. The song "Brainmash" is about having a crazy night and being the life of the party to feeling like death in the morning. The single was playlisted on 5FM and did well on all campus radio stations.

On September 29, 2017, he released Stompin' Ground (Alligator) again with Painkilllers' bassist Randy McDonald, keyboardist Mike Emerson and drummer Bowen Brown. As on his previous albums, Castro had several guests including Charlie Musselwhite (harp and vocals on “Live Every Day”), Mike Zito (guitar and vocals on “Rock Bottom”), Danielle Nicole (vocals on “Soul Shake”), and Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo (guitar and vocals on “Them Changes”).

In 1972, she was a founding member of Southern Feeling, along with W. C. Clark and Denny Freeman. Three years later Strehli became the stage manager and sound technician at Antone's, a nightclub in Austin, Texas. By 1986, Strehli had recorded Stranger Blues (EP) which help launch Antone's own record label. Her debut album was Soul Shake (1987, Antone's Records), and she appeared on Dreams Come True, with Lou Ann Barton and Marcia Ball (1990).

A low five palm slap gesture in motion.. right The low five is a hand gesture when two people slap palms together. One party extends an open palm, face upward at about waist level, the other party strikes the palm in a downward swing with their open palm. It's sometimes known as "slapping five", "give me five", or "giving/slapping skin". Archaic terms for it include "slip- slapping", "slapping the plank" and "soul shake".

During 2012, members of the band wanted to create something new outside of Taxi Violence. George van der Spuy went on to front Rock band Goodnight Wembley while Louis Nel and Rian Zietsman formed alternative rock band BEAST. Pre-production for what would become Soul Shake began also began during this time period. Writing sessions took place in the basement of the house that Louis and Rian were renting and then pre-production completed at Kill City Blues Studios.

Taxi Violence is a South African rock band from Cape Town. The group consists of George van der Spy (vocals), Jason Ling (bass), Louis Nel (drums), Rian Zietsman (guitar) and Loedi van Renen (guitar/bass). They have released five studio albums: Untie Yourself (2006), The Turn (2009), Unplugged: Long Way From Home (2011), Soul Shake (2013), and Tenfold (2014). They are influenced by bands such as: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Queens of the Stone Age, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam.

The album peaked at #58 on the Billboard album chart in October 1970, with a single from the album released around that same time, "Soul Shake", also charting. Several of the album's songs ("Living on the Open Road", "The Love of My Man", "Alone Together" and "Going Down the Road Feeling Bad") became staples of Delaney and Bonnie's live shows and remained so until their breakup in 1972. "Friends" on the album include Duane Allman, Little Richard, King Curtis and Sneaky Pete Kleinow.

It was just after the Soul Shake tour that the band started thinking about how they would celebrate their ten years together. It was decided that the best way was to thank the loyal fans by recording another album and releasing it digitally and as a limited edition vinyl. With spirits high in the camp the band came started writing again. The drums and vocals were recorded at Heritage Sound Studio while the guitars and bass were recorded at the newly revamped Kill City Blues Studios.

Warren of WXPN describes the title track "Healing Tide" as 'a spiritual distant cousin to Delaney & Bonnie’s “Soul Shake,”' on which 'Michael and Tanya wrap their powerful voices around a driving beat that shimmies and shakes with relentless rock and roll powered soul music.' Hight for National Public Radio writes, In "Are You Ready To Love Me," a strutting country-soul number laced with horns and pedal steel, she pleads for physical affection and promises eager attentiveness as a lover, building to her insistent delivery of the question posed in the title. He sings the first half of "If It's In Your Heart" as though he's summoning the courage to press his lover for honesty and find out whether or not the intensity of her devotion equals his own.' Hight describes "Here Is Where the Loving Is At" as a 'loping string band number' on which Emmylou Harris and 'the Trotters paint a picture of lasting partnership as an earthy, effortful endeavor.
