After releasing its first game on the Sega CD, Lethal Enforcers (1992), Konami wanted to bring a more interactive experience to the system for Western players. It considered making a game in full motion video like Night Trap (1992) but thought it may be too difficult, and ultimately decided to localize and port Snatcher. This also gave the Snatcher developers an opportunity to improve upon the PC Engine version which they were still not completely satisfied with. Although the Sega CD could only display 64 colors simultaneously (compared to the PC Engine's 256), the team used software techniques to increase this to 112 and modified some of the palettes to compromise.

Famitsu described the narrative as "hardboiled". Both publications recommended Policenauts to fans of adventure games and anime. Some Western publications reviewed the game even though it was not released in English. Computer and Video Games previewed the 3DO version and considered it a sequel to Snatcher.

Metal Gear is one of the earliest examples of the stealth game genre. A port of Metal Gear was released for the NES in 1987, with altered graphics, difficulty, and an abridged ending without the titular weapon. Kojima has openly criticized many of the changes made in the port, including poor translation and the abridged ending. In an interview, a programmer on the NES version of the game said his team were asked to complete the port in only three months, and the NES hardware was not capable of implementing the Metal Gear fight. Jeremy Blaustein, who previously worked on the English localization of Snatcher for the Sega CD, wrote the English version of the script. One change in the English script was the addition of Western sources and authors to Mei-Ling's pool of motivational quotes; originally the character only cited Chinese proverbs natively, providing an explanation afterward in Japanese, but this proved challenging to adapt during the translation. The games detected by Psycho Mantis when he reads the player's memory card were also changed, due to certain games (such as the Tokimeki Memorial series) not being released outside Japan. This resulted in Kojima's cameo (in which he thanks the player for supporting his work via a voiceover) being cut from the Western versions, as save data from two PlayStation games not available outside Japan, Snatcher and Policenauts, needed to be present on the player's memory card for this Easter egg to appear.

The Body Snatcher was one of three films that Boris Karloff did with RKO Radio Pictures from 1945 to 1946, which were produced by Val Lewton. The other two films were Isle of the Dead (1945) and Bedlam (1946). In a 1946 interview with Louis Berg of the Los Angeles Times, Karloff discussed his reasons for leaving Universal Pictures and working with Lewton. Achieving stardom with Frankenstein (1931), he felt that the franchise had run its course.

Eddie's disaffection deepens when Lila divulges her history of cocaine abuse, a deviated septum, and her habit of spitting drinks out through her nose. He learns that professionally she was only a volunteer, and that the purse snatcher had been one of her former lovers that she owed money. It is the first film adaptation of Woon Swee Oan's novel series Si Da Ming Bu (四大名捕; The Four Great Constables), which has previously been adapted to a television series. Boyd has a one-night stand with Eve Reston (Jess Holly Bates), who is later employed as the hospital's new oncologist and becomes Boyd's new love interest as well as pregnant with his twins. Boyd commands Eve to confess the crimes, but not until Remus recovers from congenital hypoxia as he was starved of oxygen and nutrients compared to Romulus. The Metal Gear Mk. II is a robotic companion to Old Snake in Metal Gear Solid 4. This unit is similar (albeit a bit more angular in appearance using an OLED screen and has wheels instead of feet) to the Snatcher version and is controlled by Otacon. This version is not meant to be a weapon, instead he uses it to provide ammunition and advice to Snake in the Middle East, South America and Eastern Europe. The Mk. II can also be used as a recon device, turn invisible, and shock enemies knocking them unconscious.

Having realised the driver was dead, he began to help the distraught Deirdre who was still frantically clawing at the timber. Once the police had taken charge, and Deirdre had been taken away to be comforted by Emily Bishop (Eileen Derbyshire) and Ena Sharples (Violet Carson), the timber was eventually cleared from the shattered pub. The story was concluded when Tracy was found not to be under the timber, but had been snatched away moments before the pub was hit. Stannard stripped the song down from its layers, found a section of the rhythm track that he liked, and added it as a loop over drummer Larry Mullen Jr.'s drums. The change solidified the song and validated the band's revamped songwriting approach of "build[ing] up the material organically, and then add[ing] more modern elements on top of it", rather than building songs from electronics. The lyrics are addressed to Bono's wife, Ali Hewson. Bono said that when they were younger, people at school used to call him a "baby-snatcher" for dating a girl a year younger than him.

The project was originally named The Body Snatchers after the Finney serial. However, Wanger wanted to avoid confusion with the 1945 Val Lewton film The Body Snatcher. The producer was unable to come up with a title and accepted the studio's choice, They Come from Another World and that was assigned in summer 1955. Siegel objected to this title and suggested two alternatives, Better Off Dead and Sleep No More, while Wanger offered Evil in the Night and World in Danger. Determined to get sole custody of JR, Adam comes up with a very elaborate and sadistic plot to make Dixie think that she is losing her mind.

It shows him saving several people, including a woman about to be run over by a cyclist, a woman who gets her purse stolen and a suicidal man about to jump from a ledge. Each time, his actions are misinterpreted and the victims are shown to be ungrateful. A human boy named Eggs lives among them, cared for by a Boxtroll named Fish.

She decides to tell him who she really is, but Inside Access, in concert with Cedar (who learned the truth from the fake purse snatcher who is smitten with Babe) reveals the truth to Deeds first. Heartbroken, Deeds decides to return home to Mandrake Falls and decides to donate his $40 billion inheritance to the United Negro College Fund.

Some notable adventure games from this era are Under a Killing Moon, The Pandora Directive, Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within, Voyeur, Star Trek: Klingon, Star Trek: Borg, Ripper, Snatcher, Black Dahlia, The X-Files Game, Phantasmagoria, Bad Day on the Midway and The Dark Eye. Others in the action genre are Brain Dead 13 and Star Wars: Rebel Assault. Due to the limitation of memory and disk space, as well as the lengthy timeframes and high costs required for the production, not many variations and alternative scenes for possible player moves were filmed, so the games tended not to allow much freedom and variety of gameplay. Thus, interactive movie games were not usually very replayable after being completed once.

Short-order cook Frank Darbo recalls his only two good memories from a disappointing life; marrying his wife, Sarah, and an incident in which he directed a police officer to catch a purse snatcher. Frank immortalizes these two events in a pair of crayon drawings that he hangs on his wall for inspiration. Sarah, a recovering addict, leaves Frank for Jacques, a charismatic strip club owner who gets her hooked on drugs. Frank sinks into depression, where he has a vision in which he is touched by the finger of God and meets the Holy Avenger, a superhero from a public-access television show (based on the actual Christian superhero series, Bibleman), who tells Frank that God has chosen him for a very special purpose.

(Translation ) Originally Snatcher was going to be a PC-8801 exclusive, but it was also developed for the MSX2 at the request of Konami. The PC-8801 version supports FM and stereo sounds via the PC-8801's Sound Board II expansion card while the MSX2 version came with a special cartridge that provided an expanded soundscape beyond the platform's default capabilities and extra RAM, featuring different music track arrangements. The expansion cartridge raised the price of the MSX2 version beyond that of the PC-8801 version, a reverse from the platform's typically cheaper retail game pricing.

Her bedroom is redecorated with a variety of textbooks and chemistry equipment, and her father had made himself her tutor; Betty's protests are ignored by her husband whenever she argues that Albert cannot read or talk yet, and Amos even installed steel window shutters so that nothing outside Albert's bedroom could distract from lessons. One night, a hook-nosed figure wearing a hooded cloak and carrying a silk sack appears in Albert's bedroom, waking her up. The figure says that he had been sent by Amos and introduces himself as The Childhood Snatcher, then plucks a hair strand out of Albert's hair, drops it in the sack, and floated out of the window as dust. By two-years-old, Albert could talk, walk and had the education skills of a high school student.

In the 1940s, RKO—the weakest of the Big Five throughout its history—stood out among the industry's largest companies for its focus on B pictures. From a latter-day perspective, the most famous of the major studios' Golden Age B units is Val Lewton's horror unit at RKO. Lewton produced such moody, mysterious films as Cat People (1942), I Walked with a Zombie (1943), and The Body Snatcher (1945), directed by Jacques Tourneur, Robert Wise, and others who would become renowned only later in their careers or entirely in retrospect. The movie now widely described as the first classic film noir—Stranger on the Third Floor (1940), a 64-minute B—was produced at RKO, which would release many melodramatic thrillers in a similarly stylish vein during the decade.

In an interview, Kitching said that Sparkster was the easiest game to adapt into a story, due to being similar to the Sonic the Hedgehog games.

In the midst of the Disney lawsuit, O'Neill traveled to Ireland and later to Wounded Knee, South Dakota, where he pioneered the genre of comic strip journalism with The Penny-Ante Republican, a four-page, single-sheet comic which sold for one cent, and which told stories of O'Neill's experiences with the Irish Republican Army and the American Indian Movement. For this work, the 11th international Congress of Cartoonists and Animators would present him with the in 1975. O'Neill later drew a short-lived, full color strip for the National Lampoon about the adventures of the Bat-winged Hamburger Snatcher, and returned to the Chronicle with a weekly strip, titled simply O'Neill, which ran from 1980 to 1985. The final year of O'Neill was reprinted in Comics Revue.

The earliest fan translations were done by Oasis, a group formed by Dennis Lardenoye and Ron Bouwland, two Dutch fans of the MSX system. Konami’s RPG SD Snatcher was translated in April 1993, and The Legend of Heroes was translated in 1995. Their other projects include Fray, Rune Master 3, Xak - The Art of Visual Stage, Xak 2, Xak - The Tower of Gazzel, Ys, Ys II: The Final Chapter and Wanderers From Ys. The score of the film, along with those of I Walked with a Zombie, The Seventh Victim, The Body Snatcher and Bedlam, was re- recorded by The Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra and released on compact disc in 1999. In his review of the album, Bruce Eder wrote for AllMusic noting that both Cat People and The Seventh Victim's scores "represent distinctly non- traditional suspense scores, built around memorable core motifs, dealing with their central characters' struggle with the forces of evil within and without". Broccoli and Harry Saltzman originally sought Grant for the role of James Bond in Dr. No (1962) but discarded the idea as Grant would be committed to only one feature film; therefore, the producers decided to go after someone who could be part of a franchise. In 1963, Grant appeared in his last typically suave, romantic role opposite Audrey Hepburn in Charade. The Body Snatcher (1945) quotes this scene when Dr. Macfarlane dissects a cadaver in front of his medical students. In Asterix and the Soothsayer (1972), Uderzo and Goscinny referenced the painting at the bottom of page 10, where the characters observe the disembowelment of a fish. The 2011 video game Deus Ex: Human Revolution references the painting in both in-game portraits that can be found on the wall and in a certain cinematic trailer, featuring the main protagonist Adam Jensen as the cadaver as Dr. Nicolaes and his students study his charred and ruined arms, which in the actual story become amputated and replaced with mechanical limbs. In the 2012 German film Barbara, there is a scene in which a doctor offers his interpretation of the painting to a colleague (the protagonist) when she points out the inaccuracy of Aris Kindt's left hand.

In the 1940s, Val Lewton became a well known figure in early B-horror cinema for making low-budget movies for RKO Pictures, including Cat People (1942), I Walked with a Zombie (1943), The Leopard Man (1943) directed by Jacques Tourneur, Curse of the Cat People and The Body Snatcher (1945) directed by Robert Wise, a film deemed by the United States' National Film Registry as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". The decade also sees the continuation of Universal Pictures' consistent releases of horror, suspense and science fiction films. This comes to be later known as the cult classic Universal Classic Monsters series which began in the 1920s and would later dissipate in the 1950s. In this decade Lon Chaney Jr. became the studio's leading monster movie actor supplanting the previous decades' leading stars Karloff and Lugosi by a wide margin in terms of the number of leading roles that he played.

Cold Blood's animalistic side gets the better of him and he attacks Zhuge Zhengwo, blaming his acquiesce to the two- day request as the reason behind the death of the man who brought him up. Meanwhile, another member of the Gang of Twelve claims to be meeting up with Zhuge Zhengwo at the very place Sheriff King was found dead, but before any questions can be asked, Emotionless kills him to exact her revenge. She is furious that she had been deceived for more than a decade but before she can get any answers from Zhuge Zhengwo, they are promptly arrested by Ji Yaohua who has taken over Department Six; one for the murder of Sheriff King and one for the murder of a key witness. With their chief in command and a quarter of their team locked up for murder, Cold Blood, Iron Hands and Life Snatcher are at a loss, leaving the Divine Constabulary hanging by a thin thread.

"So my best friend died in a plane crash, my brother was killed on the stage, so don't be upset if I'm angry and seem in some kind of a rage" - refers to the death of Alex's manager and best friend Bill Fehilly, who was killed in a plane crash in 1976 in the Grampians. Also, a reference to Harvey's younger brother Leslie who was electrocuted onstage with Stone The Crows on 3 May 1972 at the Swansea Top Rank ballroom when he touched a live microphone.

The society is named in honor of John James Audubon, a Franco-American ornithologist and naturalist who painted, cataloged, and described the birds of North America in his famous book Birds of America (1827–1838). Despite these accolades, John James Audubon's legacy has been tarnished by numerous accusations of plagiarism and scientific fraud, which his biographers (and Audubon's leadership) have routinely dismissed or minimized, even while admitting to his troubling history of racism and slavery. John James Audubon was also a body snatcher who collected human skulls to assist the race supremacist work of Samuel G. Morton. In the wake of the protests following the death of George Floyd, there have been public appeals to strip the name Audubon from the society and change the names of species that honor him. While Audubon has publicly supported the removal of Confederate monuments, including acknowledging that "it’s not just an issue of physical monuments", the organization has not commented about its plans to remove (or retain) the name Audubon as its namesake.

Whereas the sequel relates to the title of the book, Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids stars characters with varying behaviours. "The New Nanny", "Sweets", "The Barber of Civil", "The Top Hat", "The Spaghetti Man" and "The Princess's Clothes" are about spiteful children that misbehave to get their own way, whereas Joseph from "Goblin Mountain" is ignorant of his actions; "The One-Tailed, Two-Footed, Three-Bellied, Four-Headed, Five-Fingered, Six- Chinned, Seven-Winged, Eight-Eyed, Nine-Nosed, Ten-Toothed Monster" ends happily with Tulsidor exposing his village's prejudices; and "The Wooden Hill" implies that a five-year-old's imagination has been manipulated by adult fiction. "The Black Knight" is about greed and abusing power with no children characters present, similarly to "The Giant Who Grew too Big for his Boots" and "The Childhood Snatcher". Other stories that star children do not leave the adults blameless: "Glued to the Telly" is about Herbert's television addiction is enabled by his parents who want him to be happy, and Jack's mother's reluctance to interact with him in "The Wooden Hill" leads to her reading him a horror novel for adults as a bedtime story.

The book parodies Faber's Directors on Directors series, in which critically celebrated filmmakers discuss their work, and sees Ayoade conduct several fictional interviews with himself in which he discusses his work and enthusiasm for the world of cinema. Ayoade voiced a villainous snowman in several episodes the 2015 reboot of the animated series Danger Mouse. In 2016, he directed a short music video for the Radiohead song "Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Man Thief" in June 2016, as part of a series of video vignettes to promote their album A Moon Shaped Pool.
