By 1847, a stipulation had been laid down in local bye-laws that all chimneys must be at least in height to help progress smoke out of Bradford Dale. Modern Bradford Dale has many roads through it; the A647 and the B6145 travel on either side of the small valley that starts off Bradford Dale to the west with Pinch Beck (Thornton Viaduct straddles this small valley too). From the city centre, the A6037 and the A650 run northwards through the low ground of Bradford Dale to Shipley and then beyond.

Arncliffe is a small village and civil parish in Littondale, one of the Yorkshire Dales in England. Littondale is a small valley beside Upper Wharfedale, beyond Kilnsey and its famous crag. It is part of the Craven district of the non-metropolitan county of North Yorkshire, but is in the historic West Riding of Yorkshire. The population of the civil parish was estimated at 80 in 2015.
Merced Grove Merced Grove is a giant sequoia grove located about west of Crane Flat in the Merced River watershed of Yosemite National Park, California. The grove occupies a small valley at an elevation of and is accessible by a dirt trail. The grove hosts about 20 large trees with a relatively open understory, and are spread out over the last of the trail.
The building was designed by Grieg's cousin, the architect Schak Bull. The name comes from trold meaning troll and haug from the Old Norse word haugr meaning hill or knoll. Grieg is reputed to have said that children called the nearby small valley "The Valley of Trolls" and thus gave the name for his building as well. The rivière au Fusil (English: Riffle River) is a tributary of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, flowing in the municipality of L'Île-d'Anticosti, in the Minganie Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Côte-Nord, in province of Quebec, in Canada. A network of forest roads serves this small valley. Forestry is the main economic activity in this area; second, recreational tourism activities.

It conserves its taverns, stables, and chapel. El Zembo is located seven km from the center of Huasca in a small valley surrounded by high peaks and forests of holm oak and fir. Amphitheater The outdoor amphitheater is located in a small valley that is surrounded by timber in the eastern part of the park. It features four sections of seats on the hill that face a turf stage. Gwytherin is a village in Conwy county borough, Wales. It lies in a small valley through which the River Cledwen flows and has been winner of 'Best Kept Village' on four occasions. The American College Arboretum (35 acres) is an arboretum located on the campus of The American College (Bryn Mawr, PA), 270 South Bryn Mawr Avenue. It is open daily without charge. The arboretum began in 1959 when the college started preserving trees, and was formally established as an arboretum in 1994. Today the arboretum contains about 600 labeled trees of many species, as well as a small valley with a pond.

Barot is situated in a small valley formed by the Uhl river. Dunavtsi (, "Danubians") is a town in northwestern Bulgaria, part of Vidin Municipality, Vidin Province. It lies in the northwestern Danubian Plain, in a small valley adjacent to the Danube River. To the east of this area the brook continues into a small valley, Burghfield Slade, which contains a larger reservoir of water. The pregnant Griselda was hung from a tree and tortured until she revealed the location of her father, a leading guerrilla from Tolima. Other settlers arrived from Manizales and Antioquia. The inhabitants of the area decided to construct a town in order to have a church, school and other amenities. Juan García donated the land to form the village, located in a small valley on the banks of the Lejos River.

The Sparruhorn is a mountain of the Swiss Pennine Alps, overlooking St. Niklaus in the canton of Valais. It lies on the range between the Turtmanntal and the Mattertal, although it is located within the Mattertal and not on the watershed between the two valleys. On the north side of the mountain lies the small valley of the Jungtal. To the south, beyond the Sparrulicke, is the Festihorn.

Lamb homesteaded 160 acres on land that was about 35 miles from the nearest store and in what is now Rocky Mountain National Park. Lamb established Longs Peak House and rental cabins in a small valley at the base of Longs Peak near the trail that led to the summit of the peak. Salvia uribei is a herbaceous perennial that is endemic to a single small valley between Tunja and Cucaita in Colombia. It grows in dry scrub, along with Salvia palifolia and Peperomia species, between elevation. It was named after Lorenzo Uribe Uribe, who discovered the plant, and has made significant contributions to Colombian botany. S. uribei is decumbent, rooting near the base, and growing to tall, with 4-angled stems with white hairs.
Since closure the trackbed has been turned into a "linear park" between Macclesfield and Rose Hill, Marple. The long distance footpath was officially opened on 30 May 1985 by Dr David Bellamy. The platforms of Higher Poynton station are still extant and have been turned into a picnic sites on the trail. The trail crosses over a small valley of the river Dean at Bollington via a curved 23 arch stone viaduct.
Fort Livén was a fort with a small garrison built by Rodrigo de Quiroga in 1575, in the small valley of Livén, nearby the old city of Santa María Magdalena de Villa Rica. In 1585 it fell to the Mapuche cacique Putaén, who was later killed in it. The fort was later destroyed by his wife Janequeo the famous Mapuche heroine that waged war in that valley against the Spaniards to avenge her husband.
From the village of Lescun, go between the bridges of Masousa and Lamareich, and follow the track into the small valley of Ansabère. After the bridge of Lamary at , one must follow the footpath until the Ansabère huts at , dominated by the Aiguilles d'Ansabère and Pic d'Ansabère. From there, the path continues to the left around a rocky chaos, and climbs in grassy slopes to reach the basin housing the miniature lake of Ansabère.
The Court Hill of the Abbot of Kilwinning near Gateside village A Moot hill or Court Hill survives near Boghall in the old Barony of Beith. Dobie states that the Abbot of Kilwinning used it to administered justice to his vassals and tenants. It is a sub-oval, flat-topped mound, situated at the foot of a small valley. A number of large stones are visible in the sides of the mound.
Horda or Håra is a village in Ullensvang municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located in a small valley off the northwestern shore of the lake Røldalsvatnet. It is the location of the Horda Tunnel, a spiral tunnel through which the European route E134 highway and Norwegian National Road 13 pass. The larger village of Røldal lies about to the northeast and the small village of Botnen lies about to the south.

It is the nearest major town from the line of control and Indian controlled Kashmir, specifically Poonch.

Lonely Planet says that the statue "points erotically to something interestingly called a 'vaginal slope'" which is hidden in a small valley, about to the southeast of Erdene Zuu Monastery. The river flowing in this basaltic rocky area originates from the Gyatruu range to Kharkhorin soum. It is accessed from the main road by a well-used path. One can see the larger statue from the road from Ulaanbaatar road and from Karakhorin hill.
The Shoestring Glacier is a small valley glacier, stretching out from the peak of Mount Saint Helens in Skamania county in southwest Washington in the United States. The source of the glacier was an ice and snow field on the summit of the mountain. 75% of the glacier's volume was removed through the volcanic activity of Saint Helens, creating deadly lahars down the mountainside. The glacier has also created a truncated spur on the mountain.

The Ill, the most important river in Alsace, crosses Sundgau from south to north before flowing into the Rhine. Its source is at Winkel in the foothills of the Jura. To the east, Heceta Bank is bound by a steep and smooth continental shelf. In contrast, the bank's topography is relatively complex and irregular. After the Ottoman Turks defeated the Byzantine Greek forces and their Venetian allies, some Greeks in desperation fired the cannon into the air. A priest told them that where this cannonball landed, they would find refuge. Jordalsgrenda is a small village in Sunndal Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway, with approximately 60 inhabitants. The place is located in a small valley along the west side of the Sunndalsfjorden on the highway that runs between the village of Sunndalsøra and the town of Molde. The Avery Homestead is located on the west side of Ledyard, Connecticut and faces south on Avery Hill Road. Caeau Cnwch a Ty'n-y-graig is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Brecknock, Powys, Wales. It occupies sloping ground on the south west side of Pen-y-garreg Reservoir in the Elan Valley. Caeau Cnwch a Ty’n-y-graig comprises four traditionally managed fields in a small valley below Craig Cnwch, near Elan Village. They provide a type of herb-rich grassland that is characteristic of the upland fringe of central Wales.

Penponds Viaduct is a railway viaduct which carries the Cornish Main Line west of Camborne in Cornwall, England. It crosses over a small valley containing the southern arm of the Red River, and a minor road known as Viaduct Lane. The Hayle Railway opened the railway through this site in 1837 to link Hayle and Redruth. To overcome a significant change in elevation an inclined plane was built to the east of the present viaduct.

Pulloxhill Marsh is a 5.1 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Pulloxhill in Bedfordshire. It was notified in 1985 under Section 28 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, and the local planning authority is Central Bedfordshire Council. This marsh in a small valley has a wide variety of plant species, including some rare in the country, such as sharpflowered rush and blunt-flowered rush. It also has springs, neutral grassland in higher areas and mature hedgerows.

Zapudje is a clustered village in a small valley with many sinkholes at the foot of Travnik Hill (657 m) and Ušec Hill (also known as Vušec Hill, 616 m). In fact, during the initial years of establishing the Tengboche Monastery, nuns studied and practiced Buddhism here. However, over the years, when the nuns wanted an exclusive place of their own to live and pray, the Lama Gulu, head of the monastery granted them land in a small valley known as Devoche. The nunnery was then established at Devoche, a short walk from the Tengboche. This small nunnery, administered by the Tengboche, is called Devoche or Debuche Nunnery (Ani).

Lele is a village development committee in Lalitpur District in the Bagmati Zone of central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 6928 living in 1245 individual households, but the population has increased greatly since then. Lele is 14 km (1 hour by bus and about 30 minutes by bike) from Lagankhel, Patan, the main city of Lalitpur. It is located in a small valley within the Kathmandu Valley.

St Monans Church dates from 1369Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae by Hew Scott and is situated in an isolated position to the west of the village on the very edge of the sea. Armoured Kangxi Emperor The Kangxi Emperor reached the Kherlen river on June 7, discovered Galdan had fled, and was forced to turn back due to dwindling supplies. On June 12, 1696, 5000 of Galdan's troops blundered into the Fiyanggu's western army at the upper Terelj river. Trapped between the Emperor's two armies, the Dzungars had little choice but to fight. The terrain consisted of a small valley with the Terelj at the bottom surrounded by hills.

It is one of three major ski jumps located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (the others being Copper Peak (a larger ski flying hill) and Pine Mountain Ski Jump). Suicide Hill has been in existence since 1925. Suicide Hill Ski Jump is located in a small valley known as Suicide Bowl.

Gateside from the Hill of Beith old farm site The Court Hill of the Abbot of Kilwinning near the village A Moot hill or Court Hill survives near Gateside at Bog hall in the old Barony of Beith. Dobie states that the Abbot of Kilwinning used it to administered justice to his vassals & tenants. It is a sub-oval, flat-topped mound, situated at the foot of a small valley. A number of large stones are visible in the sides of the mound.
This museum within the park grounds features a variety of exhibits and a vast collection of Sierra Nevada Indian artifacts. A Miwok village complete with a ceremonial roundhouse has been reconstructed in the middle of the small valley and is registered as California Historical Landmark #1001. The museum has been designed to reflect the architecture of the traditional roundhouse. Exhibited in this two-story museum are examples of the technology and crafts of the Miwok and other Sierra Nevada Native American groups.

While constructing the original temple of Nalanda in Bhutan, Gyalwang Shakya Rinchen Rinpoche saw eight men from India in a small valley next to the building site. He realised that these eight Indians must be the eight scholars (pandits) of the original Nalanda University in India. When he went to find them to see if this was true, they had disappeared. The disappearance of the Indians was taken as confirmation that these indeed were the great eight scholars (pandits) of Nalanda University.
La Petite Rivière is a tributary of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, flowing in the eastern part of the municipality of L'Île-d'Anticosti, in the Minganie Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Côte-Nord, in province of Quebec, in Canada. The main forest road (east-west direction) of Anticosti Island indirectly serves the upper part of this valley. A secondary forest road serves the west bank of this small valley. Forestry is the main economic activity in this area.
Gravettians used nets to hunt small game, and are credited with inventing the bow and arrow. Gravettian settlers tended towards the valleys that pooled migrating prey. Examples found through discoveries in Gr. La Gala, a site in Southern Italy, show a strategic settlement based in a small valley. The Little Burro Mountains are only a 15 mi long range. It has a northwest by southeast ridgeline, and is attached to the Big Burro Mountains that trend in the same direction. The small valley between contains Mangas Valley Road which connects Oak Grove on State Road 90 with Mangas Springs which lies on the northeast perimeter of the Big Burro Mountains. Mangas Creek and its confluence with the lengthy Gila River that completely crosses Arizona is adjacent just northwest.
This gives the barren slopes a whitish color, and the distinctive slide zones are plainly visible from points to the southeast of the mountain in Washoe Valley. The most recent large slide occurred on May 30, 1983. The slide ran immediately into Price Lake in a small valley halfway down the mountain. The resulting slurry of granite sand, granite rock, and forest debris flowed freely down the canyon below Price Lake, and ran out on the flat floor of Washoe Valley.

It flows down Cwm Meillionen, a small valley which lies on the north-eastern side of Moel yr Ogof (655m). Much of the river's catchment area lies within Beddgelert Forest. Afon Meillionen is a tributary of the Afon Colwyn, which itself joins the Afon Glaslyn in the village of Beddgelert.
Mosque erected in 1156 in honor of Ibn Tumart at Tinmel, once part of a large fortified complex, the first headquarters of the Almohads. Ibn Tumart urged his followers to arms in open revolt against the Almoravids, to fulfill the mission of purifying the Almoravid state. In 1122, or shortly thereafter (c. 1124Messier (2010:148)) he founded a ribat at Tinmel (or 'Tin Mal', meaning "(she who is) white"), in a small valley of the Nfis in the middle of the High Atlas.

The mine is situated about 1 kilometer north of Neuil, a small hamlet in the commune of Saint-Pardoux-la- Rivière. The main production shaft, at an elevation of 250 meters above sea level, can be reached by following a small valley on the left side of the D 707 Nontron- Thiviers just before arriving at Neuil. The shaft is located on the right-hand side of the small stream; it is fenced in and closed to the public because of its hazardous nature.
Marshall Valley () is a small valley in Antarctica, ice free except for Rivard Glacier at its western head. It is long, and wide, and lies between Garwood Valley and Miers Valley on the coast of Victoria Land. The valley is open to the Ross Sea to the east. It was named by the New Zealand Blue Glacier Party (1956–57) for Dr. Eric Marshall, surgeon and cartographer of the British Antarctic Expedition (1907–09), who accompanied Ernest Shackleton on his journey to within of the South Pole.

Saur Valley (also Soar; ) is a small valley, long and wide, which resembles Kashmir Valley, located in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand state of India. Pithoragarh town (the headquarters of the district) is situated in this valley. The valley is surrounded by beautiful mountains, slopes gently to the south-east, and is bisected into north and south by a tubular ridge of slate, limestone and greenstone originating in the mountains to the north-west and branching down to the south-east. The conifer and mixed-forests of the park and its surroundings provide habitats for northern saw-whet owl, blue-headed vireo, hermit thrush, dark-eyed junco, and magnolia, pine, yellow-rumped, Blackburnian, and black- throated green warblers. The deciduous forests provide habitats for songbirds, such as scarlet tanager and red-eyed vireo. An outbreak of the non-native gypsy moth in the mid-1980s nearly devastated the woods in a small valley. Selective timber cuts harvested the trees that were affected by species of moth.
After passing through Wassaic, the roads cross Wassaic Creek and enter a small valley, soon passing the Wassaic Train Station and continuing northward towards the hamlet of Amenia. Leschi's supporters arranged an elaborate plot in which the Pierce County sheriff, George Williams, agreed to be arrested by sympathetic members of the United States Army rather than carry out the execution. Other Pierce County officials arranged for the execution on February 19, 1858, when Leschi was hanged in a small valley, from a hastily constructed gallows near Lake Steilacoom. The land was later developed as a golf course and, more recently, suburban housing. A small monument to Leschi was installed in a strip mall in Lakewood.
The station was opened by the Great Western Railway on 1 June 1877 on their new branch line from to . The railway needed a viaduct to cross the small valley that carried Carbis Water down to the Baripper Cove. It was decided to build a station on the east side of the valley and call it Carbis Bay. Bashful Peak is a challenging climb due to its height, loose rock, remoteness, exposure, and the chaotic weather of the Chugach Mountains, which includes year-round snowstorms. Bashful Peak sees very few visitors, and there are no trails up the mountain itself. Climbers typically start at the Eklutna Lake trailhead, hike up the East fork of the Eklutna River, climb the beginning of Stivers Gully on Bold Peak, climb out of the gully and cross a small valley, and ascend Bashful Peak via its southern ridge.
The Château de Langeais is a medieval castle in Indre-et-Loire, France, built on a promontory created by the small valley of the Roumer River at the opening to the Loire Valley. Founded in 992 by Fulk Nerra, Count of Anjou, the castle was soon attacked by Odo I, Count of Blois. After the unsuccessful attack, the now-ruined stone keep was built; it is one of the earliest datable stone examples of a keep. Between 994 and 996 the castle was besieged unsuccessfully twice more.
In the 16th century it was known that there was gold in the Yaracuy, Santa Cruz and Aroa rivers, and in 1605 gold deposits were found in a small valley leading to the Aroa River. The king gave the Aroa mines in perpetuity to Dr. Francisco Marín de Narváez and his heirs in exchange for 40,000 pesos. In 1824 the mines were leased to British entrepreneurs. They used the Aroa River to carry the ore by barge to the coast, where it was loaded onto ships.

The park consists of a strip of land on the south side of a long ridge which slopes downwards from north to south into a small valley. Springs issuing from limestone, lying above Early Jurassic clays on the northern slopes of Dundry Hill, form the sources of the Malago and its tributary, the Pigeonhouse stream. The Malago Spring artwork near Aldwick Avenue marks one of the sources. The Pigeonhouse runs through the lower Dundry slopes and then through a small valley to the east of Hartcliffe, passing under Hengrove Way and feeding a lake on the former W.D. & H.O. These are a series of ponds linked by channels. You must turn west of the EN128 in to a lane with a handwritten signpost of which only the first short length is tarmac. To get to this beach you must drive, ideally in a 4X4, for about 5 km on a rutted track which is in bad shape in places. As you near the coast the track descends into a small valley.

The Ogosta flowing through Chiprovtsi in its upper course Chiprovtsi is situated in a small valley at the foot of the Chiprovtsi Mountain, a high northern branch of the western Balkan Mountains. PDF, 121 KB Sveta Marija pod Okićem () (locally nicknamed Grič), an archeological site located some north of Repišće dating to 4th century, shows a migration from easily accessible locations to steeper hills and creation of isolated walled refugia. This is attributed to the loss of stability in the Pannonian region and in the Empire overall. A necropolis belonging to Sveta Marija was found on the small valley of Popov Dol and small items were excavated therefrom. Those were mostly bronze bracelets and glass chalices, items that Romans buried with their deceased.
It had a characteristic shallow-pitched slate roof, and Madocks instructed that the walls should be yellow, and the windows painted dark green. Nearby were a corn mill and a fulling mill. Canelo Ranger Station, also known as Canelo Work Station, is a historic ranger station in the Coronado National Forest, within Santa Cruz County of southern Arizona. It is located in the ghost town of Canelo, within a small valley between the Canelo Hills on the west and the northern Huachuca Mountains on the east. It was built by the United States Forest Service (USFS) and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the early-1930s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993 for its American Craftsman and Bungalow style architecture.

Peder Ivarson was born on the Undi farm in Vik, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. He was one of eight children born to Iver Pedersen (1762-1837) of the Gullbrå farm in Vik and Inger Akseldtr (1775-1838) of the Skjervheim farm in Myrkdalen, a small valley in the municipality of Voss. Peder Ivarson was married to Anna Davidsdatter from the Skjervheimm farm in Myrkdalen. Peder Ivarson, together with his wife and their children, became the first emigrants to the United States from the Sogn og Fjordane county in Norway.

Storö-Bockö-Lökaö Nature Reserve (, also known as Möjaskärgården or Möja archipelago) is a nature reserve in Stockholm County in Sweden. The nature reserve consists of more than 150 islands of different sizes on the border between the outer and middle parts of Stockholm archipelago. The vegetation on the outer islands is dominated by birch, while the other islands are dominated by pine. The undergrowth is generally sparse, apart from in the occasional small valley, where vegetation can be relatively lush with oak trees and other deciduous trees.

Great Lodge Bottom is an east-running dry valley, fairly open with hawthorn and blackthorn scrub. After crossing the Grand Avenue the valley runs into Red Vein Bottom () with its rough pasture and rabbit warrens. The path is joined by a small valley coming down from the pinetum (pine arboretum) at Braydon Hook () adjacent to Braydon Hook House. The path from Red Vein Bottom skirts the Ashdale Firs and passes some huge beeches before arriving at the Amity Oak (), an old tree which serves as a parish boundary marker.

Talcamávida is a town in the commune of Hualqui in the Biobío Region of Chile. It is located on the north bank of the Bio Bio River across from Santa Juana on the opposite shore. It occupied a plain along the river 42 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean that is part of a small valley surrounded by to the north by a high wooded mountainous area. It is 40 kilometers from Yumbel, to the east northeast, 24 km from Hualqui and 47 km from Concepcion to the north.

On September 18, 1968, Lt. Enners was serving as platoon leader with Company A, 1st Battalion, 11th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division in a combat sweep near the village of Ha Thanh in South Vietnam. His platoon was outflanked and ambushed by a camouflaged People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) squad amongst the hills while they crossed a small valley. A leader of Enners' squad was severely wounded and fell within twenty meters of the PAVN. The squad leader called for help, and Lt. Enners attempted to rescue him despite strong enemy fire.

The Canadian Pacific Railway runs parallel to Highway 18 and their combined thoroughfare splits the town into a north half and a south half. St Margaret's, the Grade II listed church in North Elmsall The name 'Elmsall' is derived from the Old-English 'elm', literally meaning an elm tree, and the Anglian 'halh', meaning a nook of land or a small valley. From here the settlers entered a difficult portion called Rock Avenue which moved from spring to spring across mostly alkaline soil and steep hills until it reached the Sweetwater River. Later settlers who had crossed to the northern side of the river at Casper would come to favor a route through a small valley called Emigrant Gap which headed directly to Rock Avenue, bypassing Red Buttes. Cuttalossa is an unincorporated hamlet in Solebury Township, just downriver from Lumberville, Pennsylvania. It sits at the confluence of a creek that runs through an unusually beautiful small valley and that feeds into the Delaware Division of the Pennsylvania Canal, an old barge canal formerly used for transporting coal and cement from Northern Pennsylvania to Philadelphia. The canal is now the Delaware Canal State Park. Although it is tiny, it previously had several mills along the creek including one that milled railroad ties and it also had two quarries along the canal.
The mine closed at the end of the 19th century, not because it was exhausted but because the mine's main shaft had gone so deep it had become uneconomic to pump the water from it. Other well-known mines in the valley are Barrow lead mine, on the slopes of Barrow, which closed in 1888; the Yewthwaite lead mine, which occupies a small valley between the fells of Catbells and Maiden Moor and ceased production in 1893; and the long-closed Dale Head copper mine, established by German miners in Elizabethan times.

Foster Township (Freehold and South Heberton merged to create modern-day Freeland) Joseph Birkbeck, the founder of Freeland, was born near Brough, in the county of Westmorland, England, on May 2, 1802. He and his wife Elizabeth came to America in 1844. After acquiring land from Edward Lynch the same year of his arrival, Birkbeck built a log cabin in a small valley between modern-day Freeland and Upper Lehigh. The next settler, Nathan Howey, purchased land from Birkbeck and built a frame house just west of Birkbeck's log cabin.
Oakridge sits at an elevation ranging from above sea level. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which is land and is water. Dabble Bank is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in the Easington district of County Durham, England. It lies about 1 km west of the village of Haswell and about 9 km east of the city of Durham. The site is important for its communities of nationally scarce grassland on Magnesian Limestone and in particular for its unusual location, in a small valley cut into the limestone plateau. A feature of the site is grassland characterised by downy oat-grass, Avenula pubescens, this being a vegetation type which nationally has a scattered distribution on lowland limestones and which is rare in County Durham.

This foundation on Île du Levant established a branch on Port-Cros in the small valley of Notre-Dame. The monastery on Port-Cros was destroyed by Barbary pirates, who repeatedly attacked the Hyères Islands from the 10th to the 16th centuries. In 1531, François I of France visited the Hyères, and as a result of being informed by inhabitants of the pirate attacks, charged Bertrand d'Ornesan with the task of constructing fortifications on the islands to defend them against pirates. He elevated the three islands to the status of a marquisate on 13 February 1532.

Talaat ed Dumm. Model T Ford car on side road On 13 June the two brigades moved out to return via Talaat ed Dumm to Jericho, reaching their bivouac area in the vicinity of the Ain es Duk on 16 June. Here a spring gushes out a mass of stones in an arid valley and within a few yards became a full flowing stream of cool and clear water, giving a flow of some per day. Part of this stream ran across a small valley along a beautiful, perfectly preserved, Roman arched aqueduct of three tiers.

The Alden Valley is a small valley on the eastern edge of the West Pennine Moors, west of Helmshore in Rossendale, Lancashire, England. In the 14th century it was part of the Earl of Lincoln's hunting park. By 1840 it was home to about twenty farms, largely involved in cattle rearing, although most inhabitants were also involved with the production of textiles, which quickly developed during the Industrial Revolution into the building of textile mills. These have now been demolished and the valley is dominated by sheep grazing, with three working farms and a number of smallholdings.
Additional dwellings, boiler and engine houses, a workshop and a coal store were built from the lighthouse in a small valley containing a fresh water loch. The engine house was fitted with two steam-powered generators, at 4.5 tons each the largest ever constructed at that time, and with a total output of 8.8 kilowatts. These powered an arc lamp in the lighthouse, with a three- wick paraffin lamp kept lit but turned down in case the electric lamp failed. Cainallo Esino Lario from Grigna The town is located in the Alpine foothills along the north- eastern slopes of Grigna mountain group, from the eastern shore of Lake Como. Burghfield Brook rises from a series of springs on Wokefield Common, near the end of Bundes Lane. The brook marks the border between Burghfield to the north and Wokefield to the south. A second source issues from the ground to the south-west of the springs, and flows eastwards across the common to Pullen's Pond, a small fish pond.
Darby Creek in Haverford Township Darby Creek begins in a small valley near US Route 30 in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County. It flows south-southeast for more than a mile before entering Easttown Township and turning east-northeast for several tenths of a mile. The creek then turns southeast for a few miles, passing through Newtown Township, Delaware County and entering Radnor Township, where it receives its first two named tributaries, Thomas Run and Little Darby Creek, from the right and left, respectively. The creek then turns south-southeast for several tenths of a mile before turning southeast for several more miles.
Fujisato is located at the far northwestern of Akita Prefecture, bordered by the World Heritage Site Shirakami Mountains to the south, and by Aomori Prefecture to the north. The town itself is nestled in a small valley at the base of the Shirakami Mountains. The hillsides are brimming with lush green in the summer, amazing orange in the autumn, and covered in white snow during the winter. Due to its location in the middle of the mountains, the temperature in Fujisato can get remarkably cold at night, with snowfall tending to be somewhat greater than that in neighboring municipalities.
Pilmaiquén or Pilmayquen (Mapudungun for wanderer) is a riachuelo in the commune of Cañete in Arauco Province in the Bío Bío Region of Chile that flows southwest towards the coast of the Pacific Ocean, to the northwest of the city of Cañete. Its course is short but of great volume and traverses a small valley between wooded mountainous areas where it joins the Licauquén River. This valley was a Moluche rehue of the Tucapel aillarehue and the homeland of the Toqui Caupolicán who commanded the Mapuche in the first revolt against domination by the Spanish Empire.
Kingswood High School was a Methodist mission school, located in Kalaw, Myanmar. It was opened in 1928 and named after the first Methodist school founded by John Wesley at Kingswood near Bristol (UK) in 1748. The school compound was big, each building built on a small hill separated by flat grassland, football, and indoor and outdoor basketball fields. The tennis court was in a small valley surrounded by low hills not far from the main buildings. Hostels for boarding students were farther away: Boys’ and girls’ hostels were on separate low hills within the walking distance from each other.
The Dendora Valley is a small valley on the Gila River west of Painted Rock Dam and Reservoir. The valley is north of the river, and is the valley west of the north-south Painted Rock Mountains which form the western end of the Painted Rock Reservoir. The Dendora Valley is only about long. The Gila Bend Mountains form the northern border from east to west, of both Dendora Valley, and the Painted Rock Reservoir adjacent eastwards; this is the famous Gila Bend formed by the Gila River as it changes direction to south, then west entering the reservoir.

By the time the explorer Heinrich Barth arrived in 1853 Sokoto was thinly inhabited and greatly dilapidated. Barth in 1857 estimated the population at only 20,000–22,000, but the market was still supplied and attended, and a thriving suburb outside the wall was more animated than Sokoto itself. Bovil aptly described Sokoto as a strong position, with steep escarpments from the east to the north-west and a small valley on the west and the south west protecting it against surprise cavalry attacks.

The helicopter crashed and caught fire in Calabasas, California, near the intersection of Las Virgenes Road and Willow Glen Street, as reported by a 9-1-1 emergency call at 9:47 a.m. (17:47 UTC). However, it is more likely that Spangdahlem near Prüm in the Eifel was meant.
Location of Neandertal, Germany The Neandertal (, also , ; sometimes called "the Neander Valley" in English) is a small valley of the river Düssel in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, located about east of Düsseldorf, the capital city of North Rhine-Westphalia. The valley lies within the limits of the towns of Erkrath and Mettmann. In August, 1856, the area became famous for the discovery of Neanderthal 1, one of the first specimens of Homo neanderthalensis to be found. Podgorje is the site of two known mass graves associated with the Second World War. The Vrženca Mass Grave () is located about 1.2 km southwest of Podgorje and 1.2 km northwest of the summit of Kojnik Hill, on the east edge of a meadow next to the woods. White Plains High School, built in the late 1950s (when it relocated from The Highlands School) on a campus (formerly James Cash Penney's 72 acre Westchester Estate, until he relocated to Westport, CT in the 1940s), serves all public school students in grades 9–12. The school has a swimming pool that overlooks a small valley which included the track and football field. The White Plains Recreation Department worked in cooperation with the schools to offer many programs.
A lawn, with huge cedar trees, sweeps gently down from the house and below is an extensive terraced garden. The Yauco Battle Site is the site of the Battle of Yauco between Spanish and American forces in the municipality of Guánica, Puerto Rico on July 25 and 26, 1898. It includes agricultural fields plus the main house and a slave building of Hacienda Desideria, a coffee plantation in a small valley about from the town of Guánica, which was headquarters of a Spanish military unit. It was the site of the first major confrontation in the Puerto Rican Campaign of the Spanish–American War. A area was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

By the year 1607, the location of the city of Jaén de Bracamoros had changed four times, before finally settling just north of the Marañón-Huancabamba junction in the small valley of Tomependa. This Jaén de Bracamoros grew into an important center of outreach and missionary work, and was appointed the capital of the district by the Council of the Indies. The most important industry at the time were metal workshops, where tools such as machetes and axes, which were vital in a region where you had to continually cut down trees and branches, were forged.
Soon, Sweet, Bella, and Storm show up and save Lucky, only to be cornered by Blade's Pack. Lucky and Storm try to convince Fang to rejoin Sweet's Pack, but Blade immediately kills him. Suddenly, the tremor sign of a new big earthquake, similar to the Big Growl, occurs, frightening everyone and sending Lucky, Storm, Bella, and Sweet running out of the cave just as it ends. A few days later, it is announced to the whole of Sweet's Pack that they should probably leave the small valley, because of both Blade's Pack and the apparent omens of a new Big Growl.
The waterfalls are located in the rugged and step valley of torrente Masone, a left-hand tributary of the Stura di Ovada. The waterfall is not formed by a discontinuity in the stream bedrock, but by a diverse grade of breaking of the same type of rock, the greenschists prevailing in the small valley. This different grade of fracturation produced the step from which the water jumps in the underlying lake, leaping over a less fractured (and thus less erodible) rock layer. The site is considered one sito di interesse geomorfolgico (site of geomorphological interest) of the Parco naturale regionale del Beigua.
Its source is close to the Willink school and much interesting wildlife can be found along its length. The Teg winds Northeast and then East to join Foudry Brook, a tributary of the River Kennet and Kennet and Avon Canal, just South of Reading. The Burghfield Brook forms Burghfield's southern border with Wokefield and Grazeley; a notable feature of this watercourse is Pullens Pond, formed where this brook is damned by a forest access road within Wokefield Common. To the East of this area the brook continues into a small valley, referred to as Burghfield Slade, which contains a larger reservoir of water.
Instead of the 3,000 beds that were planned for the ski resort, Honoré Bonnet offered a capacity of 10,000 beds for reasons of profitability. From the summit of Pegueiou, he found fertile ground and also identified a possibility by the small valley of Agneliers, which later became the link with , inaugurated in 1977. The mill pool was greatly enlarged by diverting the Merryhill Brook into it, and it had to be held back by a large embankment above the small valley of the Wom. A large waterfall carried its water down to the Wom, where it powered a number of mills. A building at the pool-side, now long gone, gives its name to the large Poolhouse estate, on the western side of Wombourne and to a farm just beyond the village edge. The mill-owners, a branch of the Foley family, grew rich and constructed a large house above the Wom.

The upper part of this small valley is accessible by the chemin du rang Sainte-Marie and by the chemin du rang Sainte-Catherine. The lower part is served by the Route du Port which goes up the valley and the Route du Fleuve which runs parallel to the river bank. Investigators with the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), the predecessor of the NTSB, determined from the evidence at the site and the survivors' testimony that the aircraft had first struck the tops of three small pine trees while the aircraft was flying in a northerly direction. The lowest tree was struck at an elevation of above sea level. Flight 21 then apparently continued across a small valley in the same direction in level flight for about before the right wing tip struck the top of a poplar and the aircraft crashed into a thick grove of pine trees. Captain Rickenbacker testified that he first felt a slight bump.

The southern part of this small valley is accessible by the rang Saint-Pierre road, which runs on the northeast side of the river. The intermediate part is served by chemin du rang Saint-Pierre and chemin Saint-Louis. The upper part is served by route 138, chemin du rang Sainte-Philomène and chemin du rang Saint-Louis.
The Mailloux River is a tributary of the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, in the municipality of La Malbaie, in the Charlevoix-Est Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. The southern part of this small valley is accessible by the Chemin du Golf and the Boulevard de Comporté which runs along the south of the river, as well as by the Chemin du rang Saint-Charles. The main economic activities in this valley are linked to the urban economy and particularly to tourist accommodation. Agriculture and forestry characterize the upper part of this valley.
The site is part of the Suffolk Sandlings area and consists of lowland dry heathland and scarce swamp vegetation along a small valley to the southern edge of the site. The heathland area of the site is dominated by the heather Calluna vulgaris. Other heathers and grass species, such as Common Bent-grass Agrostis capillaris are also present, with some Bracken and scrub tree species on the edges of the site. The swamp area of the site has Lesser Pond-sedge Carex acutiformis as the dominant plant species, with other species such as Great Reedmace Typha latifolia and Great Willowherb Epilobium hirsutum found in the area.
The highest peak (also the highest mountain in County Cork), Knockboy (Cnoc Buí, "yellow hill"), is 706 metres high and most of the other peaks in the range are between 500 and 600 metres high. The River Lee rises in Coomroe, a small valley at the eastern end of the range, before flowing eastwards towards Cork Harbour, where it enters the sea. The peaks mostly consist of Old Red Sandstone laid down in the Devonian period. During the Ice Age, the Shehys took their present form, when glaciers carved out the many deep valleys in the area and also eroded the mountains down to their present height.

The valley has been carved by the Trevillet River (, meaning dark river) in Trethevy around one mile east of Tintagel. At their highest point the slate canyon walls tower over seventy feet above the river below. Rocky Valley was mentioned in travel books as a place of exceptional beauty as early as 1897.
The Black Mountains, a mid-Miocene formation, in Nevada are a series of rugged, arid rocky volcanic mountains ranging in elevations to 3310 ft. The range lies on the north shore of Lake Mead, at the southwest corner of the Overton Arm, about 25 mi south of Overton, Nevada. The Black Mountains are mostly within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, with a small valley bordering north, the Bitter Spring Valley at the southeast of the arid Muddy Mountains Deep canyons and washes that flow southeast into the Overton Arm of Lake Mead cut into the mountain range. The range contains deposits of soft manganese oxides/hydroxides.
Buleida (Balochi and ), is a small valley and a Tehsil of Kech District in Balochistan province of Pakistan. It is a part of Makran Division situated in the north of Kech. It is located at an altitude of 503 meters (1653 feet) within the two arms of the central Makran range the Buledai or Kech band being on the south and the Zamuran Hills on the north. It is a valley with the Gishkaur running through it, expanding here and there into large pools from which water for irrigation is taken in artificial channels, one of which the jawan mardan resembles a small canal.
Officially, his mission was to scout the area south of the fort. The French would later claim that he was a diplomat on a peaceful mission to deliver a message to the British. The British contended that he was sent to spy on their garrison at Fort Necessity and their road-building project. Construction started on the line in early 1896 and by the end of the year the first steam locomotive had been delivered and was at work. The line from the quarry to the LMS's Cliffe Hill sidings remained substantially unchanged for the life of the railway, with the exception of an embankment built in 1911 to avoid steep gradients as the line crossed a small valley near Hillcroft farm. The Kickelhahn is one of the most visited mountains within the Thuringian Forest and hosts an old viewing tower with a panorama above the town and the forest landscape. The Ilm river has two significant tributaries in the vicinity of Ilmenau: the Gabelbach is a small creek with a small valley between Kickelhahn and Lindenberg south of the city. While Burdeck ends here, NY 337 continues on, following Campbell northwest under the Delaware and Hudson Railway mainline as the route descends into a small valley surrounding Poentic Kill. At the base of the dip, NY 337 widens to four lanes as it approaches Rotterdam Square, a large shopping mall situated to the east of Campbell Road. The Freedom Road Cemetery Historical Marker Daniel Hughes was a conductor in the Underground Railroad based in Loyalsock Township and Williamsport. He was the owner of a barge on the Pennsylvania Canal and transported lumber from Williamsport on the West Branch Susquehanna River to Havre de Grace, Maryland. Hughes hid runaway slaves in the hold of his barge on his return trip up the Susquehanna River to Lycoming County, where he provided shelter on his property near the Loyalsock Township border with Williamsport before moving further north to eventual freedom in Canada. Hughes's home was located in a hollow or small valley in the mountains just north of Williamsport.
Location of Phlius Phlius or Phlious or Phleious (; or Φλειοῦς) was an independent polis (city-state) in the northeastern part of Peloponnesus. Phlius' territory, called Phliasia (Φλιασία), was bounded on the north by Sicyonia, on the west by Arcadia, on the east by Cleonae, and on the south by Argolis. This territory is a small valley about above the level of the sea, surrounded by mountains, from which streams flow down on every side, joining the river Asopus in the middle of the plain. The mountain in the southern part of the plain, from which the principal source of the Asopus springs, was called Carneates (Καρνεάτης).

While NY 205 terminates here, NY 80 joins NY 28, following the route east across the creek and through the hamlet of Fly Creek. To the east of Fly Creek, NY 28 and NY 80 ascend in elevation for a short distance prior to descending into a valley home to both the southern tip of Otsego Lake and the historic village of Cooperstown at its tip. Shortly after entering Cooperstown, the two routes split as NY 28 turns south at Chestnut Street, following the roadway out of the village toward Oneonta.
Considering that it has a pub, hotel, church, and Girlguide HQ Cowley still can boast a post box and telephone box as the only forms of public amenities. The local town and shops are in Cheltenham, and many people who live in the village work in Cheltenham, even though Cirencester is only 30 mins drive away. The village consists of approximately 40 houses and they are scattered around a circular road that curls up the edge of a small valley and then runs back down the bottom of the v shape. The 'back lane' has only two houses on it compared to the higher lane that holds most of the residents.
A short distance below this, it enters Harrison Pond and then veers east into the city, crossing NY 207 near its northern terminus. It parallels 17K through a slightly wooded corridor, then is impounded again to create Muchattoes Lake, the center of a housing project built during the city's urban renewal efforts in the early 1970s. It crosses under Route 32 again, then widens and becomes the boundary between the city and the town of New Windsor to its south. A short distance later, after crossing under US 9W, a small valley opens up as it drops its last 100 feet (31 m) to reach the Hudson near a tank farm.

Plan of the gatehouse of Whorlton Castle The castle was established in the early 12th century at the edge of Castle Bank, a ridge between the villages of Faceby and Swainby, overlooking a small valley through which the road between Thirsk and Stokesley runs. In the 13th century, it was referred to variously as Hwernelton or Potto Castle (the village of Potto is part of the same parish). At the time of the Domesday Book, Whorlton was recorded as belonging to Robert, Count of Mortain, the half-brother of William the Conqueror. It subsequently passed to the de Meynell family, who founded the castle.
The Savane du Nord river is a tributary of the Sainte-Anne River, flowing on the north bank of the Saint Lawrence River. This river successively crosses the unorganized territory of Lac-Pikauba and the city of Baie-Saint-Paul, in the Charlevoix, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. The upper part begins in the southeast of the territory of the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve; then its course leaves this reserve to follow on the south side the limit of the reserve. The upper part (area of Savane Lake) of this small valley is served by a secondary forest road.
Originally, the borough was to be named "South Ridgewood", but in order to prevent confusion with the neighboring Ridgewood Village, resident Monsieur Viel suggested the alternative name of Glen Rock. About into Independence, the highway makes a sharp curve to the south into a more forested area of Allegany County. At this point, the route begins to descend in elevation as it heads through a small valley surrounding an offshoot of Cryder Creek. Just outside Whitesville, the small, narrow valley gives way to a wider one surrounding Cryder Creek itself, and NY 248 turns eastward into the latter valley to enter Whitesville as Main Street. In the hamlet, NY 248 intersects its lone spur route, NY 248A, and crosses Cryder Creek, which splits into Marsh and Spring Mills Creeks a short distance to the northeast.
Inverquharity is a Roman fortlet in Scotland, close to the Highland Line about north of Kirriemuir, Angus. Although very little archaeological work has taken place, it is assumed that Inverquharity forms part of the Roman occupation during the Flavian period; this would mean it was constructed sometime between 70 and 86 CE. It would thus form part of the series of Strathmore forts, which include Inchtuthil, Cargill I and II, Cardean and Stracathro. Inverquharity is, with Cargill II, one of the smaller installations. Its position close to the Highland line and in a mouth of a small valley, justifies its inclusion amongst the Glenblocker forts.
Strawberry Banks () is a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Gloucestershire, notified in 1993.Natural England SSSI information on the citation Stroud District Local Plan, adopted November 2005, Appendix 6 ‘Sites of Nature Conservation Interest’ This is a Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust nature reserve. The banks are thought to have once been used to grow strawberries, hence the name, and be the crash site of a Second World War German bomber. Strawberry Banks adjoins the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust Three Groves Wood nature reserve and lies on the west-facing slopes of a small valley in the Cotswolds between the villages of France Lynch and Oakridge.

Hughes hid runaway slaves in the hold of his barge on his return trip up the Susquehanna River to Lycoming County where he provided shelter on his property near the Loyalsock Township border with Williamsport before moving further north and to eventual freedom in Canada. Hughes' home was located in a hollow or small valley in the mountains just north of Williamsport. This hollow is now known as Freedom Road having previously been called Nigger Hollow.

However, there are safe zones above sandstone beds, most notably the Connelsville Sandstone that outcrops high on the hillsides. The old Athens Mental Hospital grounds (now part of the university) was built on the top of a hillside in the late 1860s, and is completely stable due to its position atop the hill rather than on a slope. The recent University Courtyard Apartments is also built on similar underlying geology across a small valley, but the hilltop was extensively removed in order to create a stable base. The city receives all its water supply from wells in unconsolidated river aquifers, and is reputed to be the largest city in the United States to do so.

The course of bras de Jacob crosses the northwest part of the zec Mars-Moulin. The upper part of this small valley is served by the Lac-du-Bois-Joli road which passes on the north shore of Lac Jacob. A few other secondary forest roads serve the valley of the Jacob's arm, mainly for forestry and recreational tourism activities.
The Bank Negara halt (March 2007) is one of a few train stations in the KTM Komuter network to be constructed along valley-like terrain. As are other halts along KTM Komuter lines, the Bank Negara halt is lined along two electrified railway tracks, each with one of the halt's two side platforms at either side of the track. However, accommodating railway lines located along a small valley, the halt and its platforms were required to be crammed into a limited amount of space, with one ticketing concourse placed at one edge of the valley. The Bank Negara halt does not feature a centralised ticketing concourse, but was rather designed with two, each intended for either platform.

Château de Guilleragues (pronunciation: [geeyerahg]) was built in many stages and went through many changes in its history.
The poem depicts Bombadil as a "merry fellow" living in a small valley close to the Withywindle river, where he wanders and explores nature at his leisure. Several of the valley's mysterious residents, including the "River-woman's daughter" Goldberry, the malevolent tree-spirit Old Man Willow, the Badger-folk and a Barrow-wight, attempt to capture Bombadil for their own ends, but quail at the power of Tom's voice, which defeats their enchantments and commands them to return to their natural existence. At the end of the poem, Bombadil captures and marries Goldberry. Throughout the poem, Bombadil is unconcerned by the attempts to capture him and brushes them off with the power in his words.

Lac à la Carpe is located a few kilometers from the northern limit of the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve. This small valley is served by the forest road along the east bank of the Métabetchouane River. The name Glyncoch is Welsh language for 'Red glen' (glyn "glen, small valley" + coch "red"). How the name originated is unknown, but in 1900 a local journalist wrote a creative Victorian-era history of the location, suggesting that it was the site of a battle between the native Celts and the Romans. More likely is that it was named after an aspect of local nature, either a local outcrop of red sandstone or a large crop of berry-bearing gorse bushes. The earliest noted settlement dates to Roman coins found in the area in the 1990s, when five coins ranging from the reigns of Empress Trajan through to Emperor Hadrian were discovered.

A three-week period where it had rained on all but three days had left the soil around Toowoomba super saturated and when a line of storms hit the city on 10 January, the resulting torrential rain rapidly ran off down gullies and streets. The central business district of the city sits in a small valley where two small water courses—East Creek and West Creek—meet to form Gowrie Creek. Unable to cope with the volume of water heading toward them, the creeks burst their banks, pushing a devastating wall of water through the city centre. This water then headed west—not towards the Lockyer Valley which was also experiencing extreme rainfall that fell on eastern facing slopes.
The name Hebden may be derived from either heope, Old English for a rose-hip or heopa, Old English for a bramble, and dene, Old English for a valley, or from the Scandinavian Hebban, a topographical description of a ridge forming an elevated site above a small valley. Two Bronze Age stone circles and remnants of huts on the moors above the village show that the area has been settled since earliest times, Joy (2002), pp. 14-15. and a hoard of 33 silver dinari dating from 30 to 170 AD found in a local field indicates that the Romans had a presence. The hoard is now on display at the Craven Museum & Gallery.
Porthcurno (, meaning "pinnacle cove", see below) is a small village covering a small valley and beach on the south coast of Cornwall, England in the United Kingdom. It is the main settlement in a civil and an ecclesiastical parish, both named St Levan, which comprise Porthcurno, diminutive St Levan itself, Trethewey and Treen. It is centred west of the railway, market and resort town of Penzance and from Land's End, the most westerly point of the English mainland. Road access is via the north end of the valley along a long cul-de- sac with short branches off the B3283 and land traditionally associated with the village, including its beach, is on the South West Coast Path.
Kennar Valley () is a small valley, ice free except for a lobe of ice marginal to Taylor Glacier at the mouth, located west of Finger Mountain in the Quartermain Mountains of Victoria Land, Antarctica. The name appears to be first used on a 1961 New Zealand Lands and Survey Department map compiled from New Zealand field surveys, 1957–60, and U.S. Navy aerial photographs of that period. It was possibly named after Thomas Kennar, Royal Navy, Petty Officer on the Discovery during the British National Antarctic Expedition, 1901–04, led by R.F. Scott. In November 1903, Kennar and William J. Weller accompanied Hartley T. Ferrar in the first geological reconnaissance of the Quartermain Mountains.
The tower has a double shell structure, with a spiral staircase in the centre, separated from the outside by a casing containing the water flowing from an inflow placed at the bottom of the tower. Several outflow channels distributed the reservoir water in different directions. It is unknown whether the cistern, which lies at a low altitude, was supplied with water coming from the nearby springs, and whether this was sufficient to fill it, or whether the water came from an artificial channel from the Thracian hinterland. In the same small valley where the cistern lies, and to its west, there are three smaller elliptic open cisterns, aligned from north to south.
A street in Zheravna in 2011 Zheravna () is a village in central eastern Bulgaria, part of Kotel municipality, Sliven Province. The village, set in a small valley at the southern foot of the eastern Balkan Mountains, is an architectural reserve of national importance consisting of more than 200 wooden houses from the Bulgarian National Revival period (18th and 19th century), and a quickly developing tourist destination. The village emerged between the 12th and 14th century and grew to become a cultural and handicraft centre in the 18th century. As the local population came to wealth, the architectural appearance of the village was shaped by one- or two-storey wooden houses surrounded by stone walls and cobblestone alleys.
The route begins at an intersection with State Routes 124 and 833, which is also known as Nye Avenue, in the village of Pomeroy, about a quarter-mile (0.4 km) north of the Ohio River. SR 733 heads northeast in a small valley formed by a stream through mostly forested areas with a few houses dotting the road way. The route only stays in Pomeroy for a short time; it enters Salisbury Township shortly after starting, clips the northwestern part of Sutton Township, and re-enters Salisbury Township and remains there for the remainder. The end of the route is at a grade-separated diamond interchange with US 33 and SR 7.

Steel Eel is a custom roller coaster built by D. H. Morgan Manufacturing. At a height of 150 feet, Steel Eel is the tallest roller coaster at SeaWorld San Antonio and was the second coaster built by SeaWorld, following The Great White (1997), after new management felt the park needed to offer more thrilling rides. Steel Eel had to be custom built to fit along the slim area beside the lake and utilizes a simple lap bar and seatbelt restraint system. Key elements of Steel Eel include two hills after the lift hill with a small valley between the two and a diving dogleg turn and triple humpback hills after its mid-course brake run.

Sheriffhales is a scattered village in Shropshire, England, north-east of Telford, north of Shifnal and south of Newport. The name derives from Halh (Anglican) and scīr-rēfa (Old English) which is a combination of Hales (a nook of land, small valley) and Sheriff (a king's executive). At the time of the Domesday Book, it was held by Roger de Balliol the Sheriff of Shropshire. Despite being a small village of around 100 people, there is a primary school, a Church of England church (St Mary's) and a local post office, as well as a playing field with football goals and a children's playground. The church is a Grade II listed building that dates back to the 12th century.
This character has been lost in places by the formation of lay-bys to serve new development. At its northern end The Street divides into two, with the highway bending west and then northwards through a cutting towards Gay Street and North Heath, whilst the other part bends east past the former school to become a non- metalled bridle road. This narrow track becomes a dark, damp passage being bordered by banks and overhung by trees, but in a short distance it suddenly emerges into a small valley containing a mill pond surrounded by high wire fencing. There are stone former mill buildings to the south followed by a series of ponds.
The Comporté River is a tributary of the Malbaie River flowing generally southward into the territory of the town of La Malbaie in the Eastern part of the Charlevoix Regional County Municipality, in Quebec, in Canada. This river has a gap in elevation of . After several series of rapids, waterfalls and falls in forest area, it flows into the Malbaie River between the village of Clermont and the town of La Malbaie. The small valley of the Comporté River is served primarily on the west side of the river by Fraser Falls Road (west side of the river), and on the east side by Rang Sainte-Julie Road, "chemin des loisirs" and the Road Grands-Fonds.
The Le Moyne River generally flows south, on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, in the municipality of Château-Richer, in the La Côte-de- Beaupré Regional County Municipality in the administrative region of Capitale- Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. The lower part of this small valley is served by avenue Royale (route 360) and route 138 which runs along the north shore of St. Lawrence River. The Chemin de la Mine, the Montée des Hirondelles and the Montée des Chênes serve the intermediate part to the foot of the moraine. The upper part has mountainous relief and some secondary forest roads, including Chemin Beauséjour, are accessible.
Two valleys - Cwm Nantcol ('valley of the Nantcol (stream)') and Cwm Bychan ('small valley') - lead deep into the mountains and may be reached from the village of Llanbedr. The most popular walking route in this area begins at the Roman Steps at , which leads from Cwm Bychan through Bwlch Tyddiad and around Rhinog Fawr. Despite the name, these steps are not Roman and are in fact the well preserved remains of a medieval packhorse trail leading from Chester to Harlech Castle. At the top of the Roman Steps, the route curves around the eastern end of Rhinog Fawr and enters Cwm Nantcol via Bwlch Drws Ardudwy (The Pass of the Doorway of Ardudwy).
Model alabaster vases from one of the foundation deposits, now in the Metropolitan Museum This tomb was discovered by Howard Carter in January 1903 as part of the systematic clearance of a small valley that runs west from the tomb of Ramesses III (KV3). These excavations were conducted by the Antiquities Service on behalf of Theodore Davis. An alabaster vase inscribed with the name of Thutmose IV had been encountered part way up the valley in 1902, leading Carter to suspect he was close to the tomb. By January 1903, investigations reached the base of a sheer cliff; here the bedrock rises to form a natural platform which was leveled to take the tomb cutting.
Salt Creek begins in a series of small canyons west of the Street of the Golden Lantern, an arterial roadway that connects with Dana Point at the south end. The canyon the creek begins in is protected as part of the Salt Creek Corridor Regional Park, which covers most of the creek's course. The creek winds west through the narrow gorge, picking up runoff from numerous residential communities both north and south of the Salt Creek Canyon. Just before it crosses beneath Niguel Road, which also runs in a north-south direction, it receives runoff from a large storm drain on the right bank; this drains much of the small valley to the north of the Salt Creek Canyon.
The Grotta dei Cervi, the Grotta Romanelli and the Grotta delle Veneri are all located in the coastal Karst formations on the Salento peninsula in southern Apulia. Deemed to constitute a notable local cultural continuity of Paleolithic and Neolithic human occupation, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities of Apulia formally submitted for the induction into the World Heritage List in 2006 and has received UNESCO's official notice and recognition as Karstic caves in prehistoric Apulia. Grotta dei Cervi is situated on the flank of a small valley opening to Porto Badisco. Exploration of the site is incomplete, however there are two entries and three main corridors (halls, galleries) with a combined length of more than .
SR 518 crosses over the West Fork of the Little Beaver Creek before that creek merges with the Branch Creek; the former now parallels SR 518 for the remainder of the route. After passing the New Lebanon Church, the route descends into a small valley where it passes over a culvert carrying a tributary of the Little Beaver Creek. To the north of the route in this valley is an old alignment of SR 518 that was bypassed . Commemorative monument at the site of John Hunt Morgan's surrender during the Civil War Within the community of Gavers, SR 164 comes in from the south and joins SR 518 to form a concurrency.
Allons occupies an area mainly located in the small valley of the Ivoire, a tributary of the Verdon, away from the main road of the valley of the Verdon some 60 km north-west of Nice and 40 km south-east of Digne. There are two natural closures of the site, one at Vauclause which corresponds to the edge of the commune at the valley of the Verdon, the other immediately at the exit of the village where the remains of a fortification can be seen. The village is situated at 1073 m altitude. The only access to the commune is via road D52 which runs south-east to the village from Road D955 some 6 km north-east of Saint-Andre-les-Alpes.
Cuddy Valley, Cuddy Creek and Cuddy Canyon are named for John Fletcher Cuddy, who came to the United States from Ireland during the Great Famine. He joined the U. S. Army and after being discharged in 1853, followed his former unit, the 1st Dragoon Regiment, to Fort Tejon in 1854 as a civilian teamster. He became the herdsman for the fort and found meadow in a valley some miles west of the fort that was ideal for grazing its stock. Cuddy eventually built a log cabin west of the fort in the small valley just southwest of modern Lake of the Woods, and laid claim to land in what became known at the time as Cuddy's Valley, (later Little Cuddy Valley), and raised cattle there.
The Rivière du Premier Rang (English: First Row River) is a tributary of the west bank of the Jean-Noël River flowing on the north bank of the Saint Lawrence River, in the municipalities of Saint-Hilarion and Les Éboulements, in the MRC of Charlevoix Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. The southern part of this small valley is accessible by the chemin du 1er Rang de Saint-Hilarion and the chemin du rang Saint-Nicolas (south side of the river) of Les Éboulements. Bilche Zolote ( Bil'che Zolote; ; ) is a Ukrainian village located within the Borshchiv Raion (district) of the Ternopil Oblast (province), about driving distance southwest of Kyiv, and about west of the district seat of Borshchiv. This rural community is located in a small valley adjacent to the Seret River, which is surrounded by plateaus covered with farms, broken by occasional stands of mixed forest. Bilche Zolote is home to a remarkable park of , of which 11 hectares (27 acres) is covered with virgin timber, including some trees up to 400 years old. Bilche Zolote is also the location of the large gypsum karst Verteba Cave, as well as a significant Neolithic Cucuteni- Trypillian culture archaeological site, and attracts tourist and spelunker visitors from many countries.
Tucker started as a simple railroad junction, between the main line of the D&RGW; railroad and the spur of the Utah and Pleasant Valley Railway, which extended to mines at Winter Quarters (near today's Scofield Reservoir). When a station was built here to house the helper engines used to push freight trains over Soldier Summit, it quickly grew into a town with a population of 500, called Clear Creek. (The current community of Clear Creek, Utah, population 4, is located several miles south of the former site of Tucker.) "Clear Creek", as it then was known, had a boarding house, company store, and saloon, and dozens of hastily constructed houses filled the small valley. From 1881 to 1919 it also had a post office.

The massif of the Gross Wingällen lies between two parallel valleys, the Schächental on the north side and the Maderanertal on the south side, both converging to the Reuss on the west at approximately 500 metres above sea level or 2,700 m below the summit. On the north side, the massif encloses a small valley, the Brunnital, which belong to the Schächental, thus forming an amphitheatre of several summits above 3,000 m, including the Gross Ruchen on the east; the north wall of the Gross Ruchen being connected with that of the Gross Windgällen. Several glaciers can be found on the southern side of the mountain, among which the Stäfelfirn, located east of the summit.

The Petite rivière Niagarette (English: Little Niagarette River) is a tributary of the Niagarette River, crossing the municipalities of Saint- Thuribe and Saint-Casimir, in the Portneuf Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in Quebec, in Canada. The course of the Petite rivière Niagarette descends first on in the forest zone, then entirely in the agricultural environment;Mapcarta - Little Niagarette River thus, forestry and agriculture are the main economic activities in this small valley. The surface of the Petite Niagarette River (except the rapids zones) is generally frozen from the beginning of December to the end of March, but the safe circulation on the ice is generally made from the end of December to the beginning of March.
Those farms have since been subdivided and recombined under later owners, but their original boundaries were used to establish the district, a small valley along Webutuck Creek. Over the course of the 19th century they evolved from farms that primarily raised a diverse group of livestock for local and regional markets to dairy farms that used the station and the railroad line that ran through the middle of the district to sell raw milk to New York City. By the middle of the 20th century a corporate farm in the district had become one of the city's largest milk providers. At the end of the 19th century residents of the city began to make country retreats in and around the district.
The Gila Valley of Yuma County, Arizona is a small valley surrounding the Gila River at its confluence with the Colorado River, the Colorado being the border between California and Arizona, and locally southwest of Yuma - Baja California, and Sonora states, Mexico. The valley extends only from its confluence to the northern end of the Gila Mountains, which abut the east end of the Laguna Mountains, where the Gila River meanders west, southwest, then due west again. The Gila Valley is called the North Gila Valley in the northern parts, north of the Gila River, and it is called the South Gila Valley in the south. The communities in the valley are agricultural, especially in the south and southwest, towards Yuma, Arizona.
The Whitlock Valley is a small valley in southeast Arizona, USA, lying between three mountain ranges. The valley lies on the south perimeter region of the White Mountains in eastern Arizona, and lies south of the west-flowing Gila River, and the region transitions south into Cochise County and three large valleys, with some scattered dry lakes. The valley is endorheic, with a small dry lake called Parks Lake, and merges southwest into the north of the San Simon Valley, where the San Simon River has its origins in the flatlands, and surrounding perimeter mountains. The valley was named after Captain James H. Whitlock who commanded during the Battle of Mount Gray in 1864 which was fought near the valley.
Between the chateau and the town centre along the top of the spur is the citadel, protected by the city wall along the top of the cliffs to the west, and by its own inner walls to the south and east. To the east of the citadel and the north of the town centre, the land slopes more gently down a small valley to the river. Running down the middle of this valley can be found the Rue de la Vau Saint-Jaques, a narrow mediaeval street that climbs up from the bridge and gateway of the Porte Saint-Jacques to the centre of town. In time of the pilgrimage, this would have been the main pilgrimage route south through the town, and was occupied by weavers.
Perry Public Schools is a school system located in Perry, in Lake County, Ohio. The U.S. Department of Education's No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon Schools Program named Perry High School as a Blue Ribbon School from 1994–1996; Perry Middle School achieved the same status in 1999 and 2000 (one of only about 20 schools statewide in that year.) The three schools (elementary, middle, and high) are all connected on a beautiful, expansive campus with the high school connected to the other two by a long indoor bridge over a small valley. At the high school, connected to the Community Fitness Center (CFC), there is the Alumni Stadium. A track runs around the Fieldturf football field, which is also used as the soccer field.
Rupit is situated at about 868m. of altitude next to the "Riera de Rupit" (Rupit river) on a part of a small rocky hill . The old part of the village sits on a kind of narrow ridge above the river and some streets climb up the hill, reaching the very top of the hill, there are also some new houses built near the river and in a very close small valley behind the ridge. About 1 km in a straight line from the village there are cliffs and below them there is a huge valley at the bottom of which there are 2 big dams, the Pantà de Sau and the Pantà de Susqueda, where the Rupit river flows into after it falls down the "Sallent" waterfall.
Jotnian sediments rests on what is known as Subjotnian rocks which include weathered rapakivi granites and the Hogland Series. Amantov and co-workers comments about the terms Jotnian and Postjotnian that: At large scale, Jotnian sediments are classified as being part of a "quasiplatform" group of sediments of the East European Platform not being metamorphosed enough to be part of the "protoplatform" and not being undeformed enough to be part of the "cataplatform" category. By analogy to the established Sub-Cambrian peneplain that extends across much of Fennoscandia there have been suggestions of the existence of an exhumed Subjotnian peneplain. This surface actually exists but its extent is very limited, represented as small valley plains at Sveg and along the Västerdalälven-Dalälven system.
The Rivière Simoncouche is a tributary of Kenogami Lake, flowing the unorganized territory of Lac-Ministuk (MRC Le Fjord-du-Saguenay Regional County Municipality) and in the territory of the city of Saguenay (sector Kénogami), in the administrative region of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, in the province from Quebec, to Canada. The upper part of this river begins in the northwest part of the zec Mars-Moulin and the intermediate part (Lac aux Rats Musqués area, Lac des Îlets and Simoncouche Lake) crosses the northeast part of the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve. This small valley is served by the route 175 (boulevard Talbot) and some secondary roads for the needs of forestry, recreational tourism and residents of this area. The Bras de Jacob Ouest (English: arm of Jacob West) is a tributary of the Bras de Jacob, flowing successively in the unorganized territory of Lac- Ministuk, in the Le Fjord-du-Saguenay Regional County Municipality, then in Saguenay, in the administrative region of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, in province from Quebec, to Canada. The course of the Bras de Jacob Ouest crosses the northwest part of the zec Mars-Moulin. The small valley of the Bras de Jacob Ouest is served indirectly by the route 175 which passes on the west side and by the path of Lac-du-Bois-Joli which passes on the north shore of the lake Jacob. A few other secondary forest roads serve the valley of the Bras de Jacob Ouest, especially for forestry and recreational tourism activities.
The rivière du Mont Saint-Étienne (English: Mont Saint-Etienne river) is a tributary of the Sainte-Anne river, flowing on the north bank of the Saint Lawrence River, in the unorganized territory of Lac-Jacques-Cartier and the municipality of Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges, in the La Côte-de-Beaupré Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. The lower part of this small valley is served by chemin de l'Abitibi-Price, chemin du rang Saint-Marie and chemin Clairval. Chemin du rang Saint-Édouard runs southwest of the middle part of the river course. The upper part is served by a secondary forest road passing on the north side of the river and which connects to the southeast with the Abitibi-Price road.
Miller's Cove in Tennessee is an example of a typical Appalachian cove, an enclosed valley in the mountains. In the central and southern Appalachian Mountains of Eastern North America, a cove is a small valley between two ridge lines that is closed at one or both ends. Among the places where the word "cove" appears in the name of an Appalachian valley are Morrison Cove in Pennsylvania; Lost Cove, North Carolina;Benjamin J. Cramer Collection, Archives of Appalachia Bumpass Cove, Tennessee; Doran Cove, Grassy Cove, Ladd Cove, in or adjacent to the Sequatchie Valley of Tennessee and Alabama; and numerous locations in the Great Smoky Mountains, including Cades Cove, Greenbrier Cove, Miller Cove, Tuckaleechee Cove, and Wears Cove. Burke's Garden in western Virginia is another example of a cove.
The center of the city sits in a small valley on the basin river Cazones, in the coastal plain of the Gulf of Mexico, with an average altitude of 60 m, although most of the land sits on uneven ground and mostly hills northeast of the city, among which is the Cerro del Meson, with a maximum height of 242 meters. The predominant soils are of the vertisol type, with a high content of clay forming expansive cracks in dry seasons. Since its inception, the rapid urban growth in extension exceeded the capacity of available flat land in the city, expanding the urban area to the northeast of the city, using increasingly uneven ground and hills bordering the town of Papantla, inhabiting the slopes of the hills that surround the city center.
Hanging Wood was reputedly one of the favourite 'hold up' spots for the 17th Century Highwayman William Nevison (Swift Nick,Black Bob). The London to York Stage coach had to negotiate a small valley at the point where the Roman Ridge crossed over the Pick Burn in Hangingwood due to having to reduce speed to negotiate this natural obstacle the Stage coaches had to reduce speed to walking pace which made them vulnerable to ambush in what is still an isolated location. There is a record of one such attack in the Archives at Doncaster Council where a 'Hue and Cry' (Posse) was raised and said highwayman chased to Owston Village via Skellow before he evaded his pursuers. The Ghost of a Headless Horseman allegedly haunts the Roman Ridge at Hanging wood.
Later settlers who had crossed to the northern side of the river at Casper would come to favor a route through a small valley called Emigrant Gap which headed directly to Rock Avenue, bypassing Red Buttes. Devil's Gate, 1870 Upon arrival in the Sweetwater valley, the trail encounters one of the most important landmarks on the trail, Independence Rock. Independence Rock was named by Jedediah Smith and party when they first observed it in 1824 on July 4--Independence Day in the United States. Jedediah and his fellow trappers rediscovered South Pass and the Sweetwater River in 1824. Immigrants also tried to reach Independence Rock on July 4 in order to help ensure that they will be at their destinations in California or Oregon before the winter snows came and closed the trails.
Glen More Beinn a'Chapuil Glenelg is located south of Loch Alsh, by the fiercely tidal Kyle Rhea narrows, where the Isle of Skye is closest to the mainland. Between November and February, the only access to Glenelg is by road over the Mam Ratagan (known loosely as "the Bealach" (pass)) from Shiel Bridge on the main road from Inverness to Skye. From the summit of Mam Ratagan the road runs gently into Glenelg down Glen More (Gleann Mhòr, "big valley"), which is otherwise isolated from Loch Duich by Beinn a Chuirn, and from Loch Alsh by Glas Beinn. There is a second valley, approximately parallel to Glen More and to the south known as Glen Beag (Gleann Beag, "small valley"), separated from Glen More by Beinn a' Chaonich.
The breakout began on 1 December, greatly aided by Marine F4U Corsairs and Navy Grumman F7F Tigercat twin-engine fighters which strafed and bombed Chinese positions as the American truck column, encumbered with hundreds of wounded and under constant attack, made its way down a gravel road on the east side of Chosin Reservoir. The march south was interrupted when the Corsairs mistakenly bombed short, spraying the lead platoons of the task force with napalm, killing and burning troops. The napalm drop had a demoralizing effect on the task force. As the front of RCT-31 made their way against close-range fire, heavy small arms fire from across the small valley caused many members of the rear guard to seek shelter below the road, instead of protecting the trucks.
It crossed the small valley formed by an arm of the Red River immediately to the north of the present viaduct, and the then by a separate bridge over the adjacent Old Mill Lane (in fact a footpath and farm track). The later replacement viaduct is at a much higher level and crosses both the river and lane in a single structure, but the original lane bridge is still present; it is shown as "tunnel" on some modern large scale maps. The old line continued broadly westward, at first a little to the north of the modern route, with a southward loop to follow the contour through the site of the later Gwinear Road station, and then to near Trenowin Farm, where the line continued almost due west; the present line diverges to the south.
Here, NY 394 continues eastward along the banks of the creek while US 62 heads northward through a small valley surrounding Indian Brook and into the town of Ellington. South of the hamlet of Ellington, the small creek valley gives way to a larger cut of land surrounding Clear Creek. Indian Brook ends near this point; however, US 62 continues northward to serve the community. In Ellington, US 62 turns eastward for before veering back to the north at the Chautauqua–Cattaraugus County line. The route straddles the county line and runs along the base of a larger valley surrounding Conewango Creek to the aptly named community of Conewango Valley, where it intersects NY 83, which heads northwestward into Chautauqua County while US 62 curves eastward to traverse the width of the valley.
The Baie des Rochers River is a tributary of the northwest shore of the St. Lawrence River, flowing into the town of Saint-Siméon, in the Charlevoix-Est Regional County Municipality, in the Capitale-Nationale administrative region, Quebec, Canada. The course of this river goes through the village of Baie-des- Rochers before going to the Bay of Rochers, in the St. Lawrence River. This small valley is served by the "rue des Tours" and "rue de la Chapelle"; these two roads connect together at route 138 which goes along the northwest shore of the St. Lawrence River and passes over the Baie des Rochers River at the village of Baie des Rochers. The last serious fighting in the province took place in 2004, amid reports that then-Governor Muhammad Ali Jalali was collaborating with Taliban forces, and that the Taliban had effectively annexed eastern portions of the province. Jalali and many of his allied officials, were replaced and U.S. Special Forces were dispatched to fight the Taliban while the Pakistani forces fought with the Taliban's allies in neighbouring South Waziristan. A convoy with members of Task Force 2-28, 172nd Infantry Brigade and the Afghan National Army winds its way through a small valley on its way back to Forward Operating Base Orgun-E from Combat Outpost Zerok On 1 November 2004, a civil affairs convoy was ambushed near Surobi, between the Shkin firebase and Orgun-E. U.S. Army Spc.
The Occitania national football team is the football team of Occitania, which is the name given to areas of southern France, westernmost Italy and a small valley in northern Spain where the Occitan language is spoken. It is controlled by the Associacion Occitania de Fotbol. As Occitania is not a recognised state it is neither a member of FIFA nor UEFA, and the team therefore is not eligible to enter either the World Cup or European Championship. They are members of the New Federations Board, and hosted the inaugural VIVA World Cup in November 2006 where they finished 3rd. Since the Occitania team was established in 2004 they have played numerous friendly matches against sides such as Chechnya and Monaco as well as competing in 4 VIVA World Cup tournaments.
He opened the attack with inevitably reduced fire support since the severely convoluted ground for a distance of below the dam prevented tank and artillery movements. The single road serving the 7th Cavalry, actually no more than a narrow mountain track, branched off Route 29 in the adjoining zone of the 2nd Division to the east, entered the 7th's area near the southwest corner of the reservoir, ran north along the reservoir shore to a point beyond the Kansas Line, then turned west through a small valley at the base of the ridge leading to the dam. Rock outcroppings so confined the track at points that jeeps could barely negotiate it. With the division artillery positions as far north as the terrain allowed, Callaway's objectives were beyond the range of the howitzers.
Recently diagnosed with a terminal disease, Bruce Campbell (Dirk Bogarde) unexpectedly finds himself the owner of a small valley in the Canadian Rocky Mountains as the result of a bequest from his grandfather. After travelling from England, Bruce arrives at "Campbell's Kingdom" (as the locals disparagingly call it) to find its existence under threat from the construction of a new hydroelectricity dam. Convinced that his grandfather was right and that the Kingdom may be prospective for oil, the race is on to prove that there is oil under Campbell's Kingdom before the mining company building the dam can flood the valley. Standing in his way is corrupt construction contractor Owen Morgan (Stanley Baker), who resorts to dirty tricks in order to prevent Campbell from succeeding in his quest.
That year, as well as admitting patients from Palm Island and elsewhere in Queensland, Fantome Island became the health clearing station (quarantine station) for all those being sent to Palm Island. By September 1938 the northern area of Fantome Island was under consideration as a tubercular settlement, while a leper settlement was proposed for nearby Curacoa Island. A map of Fantome Island at this time indicated that "farm villages" (for chronic STI cases) existed along the western side of the northern point of the island, and an early 1939 map included two villages roughly where the lazaret male and female compounds were later built; and a "vegetable growing area" at the east end of the small valley just south of the water tank. The search for a lazaret site in northern Queensland followed a succession of other attempts to segregate Hansen's disease patients.
In the springtime, Williamstown is seen at its best, with a carpet of green grass and wildflowers along the many creeks and thick woodlands covering the low-rolling hills around the town, dotted with large dairy pastures and vineyards. To the East and South, Williamstown is skirted with Forestry Commission plantations open for public access, in certain areas, large swathes of National Park and the Hale Conservation Park for walkers and hikers. The Williamstown Oval is set in the welcome summer-shade of a large wooded hill in a small valley fed by crystal clear cold-water springs that feed the Victoria Creek stream that passes through the town centre. At the Oval there is a picnic area and small caravan park, serving visitors and transient workers, overlooking the local Football Clubhouse and 1950s-era public swimming pool.
The situation of this small valley between the lands of Guadalhorce, communication channel to the sea and the city of Málaga and Antequera land between the Upper and Lower Andalusia, make it an important step along the history . A story that although was very ancient history, as evidenced by the numerous remains found in the area, has its first significant page in the Iberians times. Since prehistoric times, the Abdalajís Valley has served as a must or a link between the area of the Guadalhorce and the Vega de Antequera which has provided an extraordinary archaeological wealth and evidenced by numerous archaeological sites and remains found in his term municipal (the caves called Cuevas del Gato and the cave called Cueva del ermitaño). Already in the last century, writers such as Guillen Robles Berlanga and were amazed at it.
The site is typical of a South Pennine Moorland with gritstone and sandstone (Millstone Grit Yeadonian sandstone outcrops) underlying the soil. The moor has several springs and marshes and in its central section is drained by two streams (Deep Cliff Hole and Midgram Beck) which both flow through Harden (meeting up under the houses built on the former mill site in the village) and flowing through Harden park to meet up with Harden Beck in the Woodbanks area at the eastern end of the village. Deepcliffe Wood is a small valley that is bordered on its northern, western and eastern edges by heather moorland. The wood, through which Deep Cliff Hole drains, is a remnant of an ancient woodland which sits on a fault extending southwards towards Wilsden and is noted for its oak trees, badgers, woodpeckers, bats and cuckoos.
Northeast of Ben Lugmore's ridge are the cliffs of the deep corrie of Lug More (also called ), which itself looks into the small valley of Glencullin at the junction of Doo Lough and Glencullin Lough. To the southwest of the ridge is the valley of Glenconnelly; and where the high southwestern cliffs of Ben Lugmore West Top, Benbury and Mweelrea circle the northern corrie lake at the head of the Glenconnelly valley, known as Lough Bellawaum. Ben Lugmore's own prominence of qualifies it as a Marilyn, and it also ranks it as the 18th-highest mountain in Ireland on the MountainViews Online Database 100 Highest Irish Mountains, where the minimum prominence threshold is 100 metres. The peak is listed as the 29th-highest peak in Ireland on the Arderin scale, and the 37th-highest peak on the Vandeleur-Lynam scale.
Oconahua, a community located 10 miles from municipal Etzatlán which has about 2100 inhabitants. Oconahua, small valley crossed by two streams and located at the bottom of the Serrania de Ameca to 1490 meters, is a farming community with some Indian identity is said to have been founded between 1512 and 1515 by Aztec tribes led by a woman named "Tepelzamoca" who first gives the name to the place of "Cacalotlán", then "Huexolotlán" and finally, in 1521 Pedro de Alvarado and Cristobal de Olid, name it "Oconahua". Their economic activities are agriculture with crops like corn and livestock in the field’s poultry, pork and beef. Its streets are paved and the construction of their homes and show no uniformity in a large number of them are made of brick contrasting sharply with several adobe homes yet.
The Patriot relief force came up the Mohawk Valley under the command of General Nicholas Herkimer and numbered about 800 men of the Tryon County militia plus a party of approximately 60 Oneida warriors.
