The Reign of Quantity and the Signs of the Times () is a 1945 book by the French intellectual René Guénon, in which the author purports to give a comprehensive explanation, based on tradition, of the cyclical conditions that led to the modern world in general and to the Second World War in particular. Matteson started publishing the magazine Tidernes Tegn (Signs of the Times) in 1879 and Sundhedsbladet (The Health Magazine) in 1881 and a songbook which he wrote. In 1881, Joseph H. Waggoner succeeded James White as editor of the Pacific coast evangelistic magazine, Signs of the Times. Through his several books on the atonement, the elder Waggoner wrote that Christ was only God in "a subordinate sense," and thus not fully divine. Gillespie was closely involved in the religious revivalism of the 1740s in Lanarkshire, at Kilsyth and Cambuslang. It was associated with the preaching of George Whitefield in Glasgow in 1741–2, and was taken up as a phenomenon by John Erskine, The Signs of the Times Consider'd (1742). The local ministers involved were William McCulloch at Cambuslang, and James Robe at Kilsyth. The evangelical John Maclaurin was drawn in from outside, as was Gillespie, who edited the conversion testimonies collected by McCulloch.
Stephen N. Haskell, an Adventist missionary visited New Zealand four months after his first visit. He began marketing The Bible Echo and Signs of the Times (Australia/New Zealand version), two religious papers of the church. His truth was soon accepted by Edward Hare and his wife, who ran the boarding house in which he stayed. His success caused the Seventh-day Adventist church in America to send Arthur G. Daniells, an evangelist and former teacher, to further the work.
The ministries of the Sisters of Charity of Australia have been varied in nature from the time of their founding. From ministering in prisons to managing hospitals and acting to conserve environments, they have been quick to "read the signs of the times" and move to where they have been most needed, in the greatest service to the poor. One of their most prominent ministries was the establishment of St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney in 1857. St Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne was opened in 1893.

Pastoral ministry later emerged within the congregation as a distinct form of ministry after Vatican II as they followed the call of the Church to respond to the signs of the times. They are committed to six priorities in ministry: promoting peace, promoting humanization of values, opposing racism, alleviating poverty, supporting women's issues and supporting environmental issues. Through their daily lives and ministries, in collaboration with their Associates and others, they are living out these priorities to meet the changing needs of today's world in their spirit of pioneering.

Several associations related to the church operate in Romania: the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, the Adventist Ministry to College and University Students, Health & Temperance and the Adventist Youth Society. Its radio station, Vocea Speranţei ("The Voice of Hope"), broadcasts from Bucharest, Braşov, Constanţa and Timișoara. Its publishing house produces the monthly magazine Curierul Adventist ("The Adventist Courier") and the religious-cultural bimonthly Semnele Timpului ("Signs of the Times").
By 1821, Carlyle abandoned the clergy as a career and focused on making a living as a writer. His first fiction, Cruthers and Jonson, was one of several abortive attempts at writing a novel. Following his work on a translation of Goethe's Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship, he came to distrust the form of the realistic novel and so worked on developing a new form of fiction. In addition to his essays on German literature, he branched out into wider-ranging commentary on modern culture in his influential essays Signs of the Times and Characteristics.

A native of Chicago, Thiele graduated from Emmanuel Missionary College (which became Andrews University in 1960) in 1918 with a BA degree in ancient languages. After two years of work as home missionary secretary for the East Michigan Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, he left in 1920 for mission service in China. During his 12-year work in China, he was an editor and manager for the Signs of the Times Publishing House in Shanghai. After returning to the United States, Thiele received an MA degree in archaeology from the University of Chicago in 1937.
Hundreds of new members joined during the early 1980s, and the movement took off from there. There was a meeting at Noel's in the summer of 1982 and then Mike Jackson's Oklahoma meet in October of the same year. Raymond Chapman had a Texas gathering in November, 1983. The composition of the seminal group, as well as the timeline of early meetings, is a matter of record within the sign industry, and can be verified by a review of letters and articles published in Signs of the Times and SignCraft magazines.
Born at Liverpool, England, in 1795, Aspinall was the son of John Bridge and Ann Aspinall, of Cleongar Hall, Cheshire. He graduated from St Mary Hall, University of Oxford as B.A. in 1820, and M.A. in 1823. In 1831, Aspinall was the joint incumbent of the Church of St Luke, Liverpool, where he preached a remarkable sermon, "The Crisis, or the Signs of the Times with regard to the Church of England". In 1839 he became rector of Althorpe, Lincolnshire, which he held until his death in 1861.
Nathan G. Brown (born 1974) is a Christian author and editor. Brown is the "book editor" for Signs Publishing Company, based near Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. From 2003, he was editor of the magazines Signs of the Times, an Australian Christian magazine with a similar format to Reader's Digest; Record, the newsmagazine for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific; and the Edge. He has written articles for a broad variety of magazines internationally, and has written or been the editing author of six or more books.
A notice of the book in Thomas James Mathias's Pursuits of Literature created some demand for it, and a second edition with a "supplemental part" was published in 1800 (3 vols.), and also a second part of the quarto edition. In 1793 King published An Imitation of the Prayer of Abel. In 1798 he wrote another tendentious pamphlet, Remarks on the Signs of the Times, in which he demonstrated the genuineness of the second book of Esdras. Irritated by Gough's critique on this tract in the Gentleman's Magazine, he wrote an angry letter to the printer, John Nichols.
The Jewish civil New Year began in Tishri (September–October). From 1840 onward, Millerism was transformed from an "obscure, regional movement into a national campaign."Richard L. The key figure in this transformation was Joshua Vaughan Himes—the pastor of Chardon Street Chapel in Boston, and an able and experienced publisher. Though Himes did not fully accept Miller's ideas until 1842, he established the fortnightly paper Signs of the Times to publicize them. The first edition was published on February 28, 1840, with Himes as editor.
Prior to the 1912 United States presidential election, Wheeler publicly debated the former California governor James N. Gillett on the question of which Republican nominee deserved the backing of his party, to be decided at the primary elections. Wheeler spoke for Theodore Roosevelt while Gillett argued for incumbent William Howard Taft. Wheeler said Taft was "blind to the signs of the times", the candidate of "men satisfied with the old political methods." In the event, Taft won the primary but Roosevelt ran anyway as a third party candidate, splitting the Republican vote to allow Woodrow Wilson to gain the presidency.

The Congregation valued these schools as a sphere of its apostolic activity within the mission of the Church. Still a small group, they had grown to five churches in the 1850s - Aldborough, Dunwich, Ekfird, Lobo, and Orford. The Covenanted Baptist Church did not fellowship with any other churches in North America, until an elder, Thomas McColl, received some issues of the Signs of the Times, a Primitive Baptist periodical published by Gilbert Beebe of New York City. In 1857 and 1858, McColl invited Primitive Baptists to visit and preach among their churches. The two groups saw they were established on the same faith and order, and began a relationship of fellowship one with another, which continued to the 20th century.
In the first place, prophetic theology will have to be biblical: "Our KAIROS impels us to return to the Bible, and to search the Word of God for a message that is relevant to what we are experiencing in South Africa today". It does not "pretend to be comprehensive and complete;" it is consciously devised for this situation, and therefore needs to take seriously the need to read the "signs of the times" (). It is always a call to action, a call for "repentance, conversion and change". This will involve confrontation, taking a stand, and persecution.

In 1996 Bieringer began to develop an eschatological-oriented biblical hermeneutics, which came to be known as the normativity of the future approach. In dialogue with the theologian Mary Elsbernd (1946-2010) from Loyola University (Chicago) and their respective students, they elaborated this approach in the publication Normativity of the Future: Reading Biblical and Other Authoritative Texts in an Eschatological Perspective. The normativity of the future approach is rooted in a dialogical perspective on God's revelation, both through the Scriptures and the "signs of the times". Incorporating a variety of scholarly biblical methodologies, it focuses subsequently on the world behind, the world of, and especially the world before the text.
