A local pub's signboard shows the coat of arms of the Frecheville family, who were lords of the manor at Staveley but there is no evidence that the Frechevilles ever owned land on Birley Moor, so the name given to Frecheville remains something of a mystery. Prior to the 1940s, Birley Collieries provided employment to much of the surrounding area.
Ropes/Shore (1969) traced the edge of Ward's Island with ropes staked and pulled taut at 20-foot intervals. Battery Park Landfill (1973) installation was a temporary piece of five signboard-like structures, placed 50-feet apart across the landfill site. A series of large cut out circles descended into the ground describing a column of air that materialized only when the viewer stood with the boards aligned. Untitled (1975) was created in April and May 1973 at the Allen Memorial Art Museum in Oberlin, Ohio, as part of the exhibition Four Young Americans (which also featured Ann McCoy, Ree Morton, and Jackie Winsor).
Although the animals win the battle, they do so at great cost, as many, including Boxer the workhorse, are wounded. Although he recovers from this, Boxer eventually collapses while working on the windmill (being almost 12 years old at that point). He is taken away in a knacker's van, and a donkey called Benjamin alerts the animals of this, but Squealer quickly waves off their alarm by persuading the animals that the van had been purchased from the knacker by an animal hospital and that the previous owner's signboard had not been repainted. Squealer subsequently reports Boxer's death and honours him with a festival the following day.

Another Hallmark Card production subsidiary, Signboard Hill Productions, was not expect to have films available to the unit until 1996. In 1997, Hallmark Home Entertainment worked with Binney & Smith and their board of educators in developing two Crayola branded kids lines, Crayola Kids Adventures, for ages 6 and up, and Crayola Presents Animated Tales, for ages 2 and up, both a series of three direct-to-video adaptations of famous children's novels.
Although Lanphier distributed tracts, visited local businesses, invited children to Sunday school, and encouraged hotels to refer guests to the church on Sunday, he found that his time spent in prayer brought him the most peace and resolve, and he determined to start a weekly noon prayer meeting for businessmen that would take advantage of the hour when businesses were closed for lunch. The handbill he had printed read: "[Wednesday] prayer meeting from 12 to 1 o’clock. Stop 5, 10 or 20 minutes, or the whole time, as your time admits." On September 23, 1857, he set up a signboard in front of the church.
The Asaf Jah-I (first Nizam) granted the Koulas fort to Rajput king Raja Kunwar Gopal Singh Gaur in 1724 AD for his bravery in the battle of Balapur and Shakkar Kheda. The Archaeological Survey of India and State Archaeology should take immediate step to protect the Gulbarga fort canon and it should be included in the world record list. Fencing should be done around the canon for its safety. The canon is filled with mud and small stones which should be cleaned. Also, a signboard containing the details about the size of canon mentioning it as ‘the longest canon in the world is required.
Site of the shooting, seen in May 2020; the wooden signboard on the left corner formerly held signage memorializing Ghaisar Ghaisar was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound along the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Alexandria City to his parents' house for dinner. When he suddenly stopped in traffic he was rear- ended by an Uber driver in a Toyota Corolla with a female passenger in the back seat. The driver and the passenger both reported the incident to 911. According to a report of the accident, Ghaisar pulled away without giving his information to the Uber driver, an action that would have been a misdemeanor.
In 1911, the South Australian Railways initiated a local passenger service on the narrow-gauge line leading into the hinterland from Port Pirie's docks. The service operated between the nearby Ellen Street terminus, and via Port Pirie South, 700 metres (770 yards) away to a developing suburban area 1.6 km (1.0 mi) further to the south. A station was declared at the latter location on Railway Terrace, which at that time was the southern boundary of a lightly inhabited area called Solomontown. Infrastructure consisted of only a signboard and a small wooden shelter; an unpaved compacted earth area for boarding trains from ground level served in lieu of a platform, as at all South Australian narrow-gauge stations.
Before regular diplomatic relations were established between Pakistan and Japan, the trade liaison offices in Karachi and Tokyo, working since 1948, were the only sources of trade and diplomatic contacts. Both countries established regular diplomatic missions on 18 April 1952, just ten days after the ratification of the Japanese peace treaty. Therefore, Pakistan established diplomatic and trade contacts with Japan since 1948 – long before Japanese sovereignty was restored by the Allied Powers. In order to meet the acute shortage of food in Japan caused after the war, Pakistan shipped 60,000 tons of rice through Nichimen vessels to Japan in 1952 and 1953 carrying the signboard ‘Donated Rice to the Emperor of Japan by the Government of Pakistan’.
He was begging when he casually wandered onto one of the many student demonstrations that roamed the city at the time.Interview with Jesús Quintero This time the scene was at the intersection of Alcalá Street and Gran Vía, in front of the Ministry of Education, and the demonstration was unusually violent. The police arrived and started to shoot, hitting a demonstrator, Maria Luisa Prada, who was 15 years old. Cojo Manteca, infected by the violent environment, as he explained later, used the one crutch he used to walk to break a Metro signboard station and a thermometer-clock near the Bank of Spain, and that attitude was captured by the cameras of EFE press.
When Ilhan Ersahin opened the Nublu Club in 2002, it captured the budding synergy between hiphop turntablists, the avant-garde jazzers who were still in the Lower East Side, and DJ's and players from Europe, Jamaica, Africa and Brazil. Nublu's jam sessions captured the freewheeling rivalry of cutting sessions at clubs like the legendary Minton's Playhouse's in the bebop era of the 1940s. The club's hipness was underlined by the single blue light outside the door and lack of a name signboard, giving the club the feel of a secret speakeasy adventure. Bands and DJ's performed in the middle of the club, among the audience, giving it the ambiance of an underground event.
Under the infrastructure sector, UEM Edgenta maintains over 2,500 km of highways, including the North South Expressway. On top of maintaining the road pavement, civil works and electrical works of the highways, UEM Edgenta also provides a special response team unit which provide 24-hour patrolling services to monitor and regulate traffic flow along North–South Expressway network. They are the first to be at site during emergency situation to manage the traffic and clear debris from accidents; to ensure smooth operation on the highway. The infra services’ main line workers carry out routine maintenance activities such as grass cutting, landscaping, drainage and culvert cleaning, guardrail repair and replacement and signboard cleaning.
Ten years after the opening of Park Ji-Sung Road, the road became neglected due to the lack of management and indifference of the local governments. In 2009, a section of road (3.4㎞) in Hwaseong City was included in a reorganisation and the name of the road was changed to Dongtanjiseong-ro, and the management responsibility for the road between different local governments became unclear. As a result, maintenance work was not done on time, and the management of roads and facilities is left in a state of disarray. The road signboard placed at the entrance to the Shin- dong trunk road in Suwon was left untouched for months after the explanatory text was damaged.
Since 1996, he has begun to renovate a streamlined carriage with headrests and legless seats. It was the same as the seat of Tongil Hall or Mugunghwa Privileged Train In the process of retrofitting, all backrests without headrests have disappeared, but the replacement of heat sinks for heating is not possible.Even some of the carriages remodeled the backrest with the lower body untouched. There was a LED signboard inside the room together with the same type of Saemaulho which was produced and introduced in 1988 but it was temporarily incompatible with the same type Saemaulho which was produced and introduced in 1992, The publisher was changed to be compatible with the production and introduction vehicles of 1992.
The tower is given further prominence by the setback of the top two office floors either side, and the projecting ribs of the top four floors which also step back, and continue beyond the parapet, creating a lively skyline. The three level base is sparsely adorned, providing a platform for the verticality of the upper floors. The prominent entry is formed by a deep, two storey tall, inset within the central bay. The building is remarkably intact; the double height square bays of the ground floor are occupied by original bronze shopfronts, the prominent building name metal signage above is unchanged, and the lobby retains its black marble walls, signboard, light fittings and lifts.

The glacigene origin of the Carboniferous sediments in the Seaham area was first recognised by Professor Edgeworth David in 1914. Subsequently, Sussmilch reported the occurrence of varved shales in the Seaham Quarry,Sussmich and David, 1920 which rapidly gained famed in Australia and internationally because of the perfection of preservation of the varves and the associated contorted beds exposed in them. David exhibited specimens of the varved shales in Honolulu in 1920 at the First Pan Pacific Science Congress, and three years later led a party of visiting scientists to the quarry on the occasion of the Second Pan Pacific Science Congress. In 1925 a signboard describing the phenomena exposed in the quarry was erected in the site.
A year after, at 1991, she exhibited Ouróboros, an object made ip of unbound books forming the mythical serpent that devours itself, at the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras. In 1992, her most conceptual work was created with the installation of Espacio disponible (Space available) at the Centro Cultural Recoleta. For this piece Maresca placed a signboard advertising the availability of the space "for any purposes" and included her name and telephone number and two dates. A few months later and with the help of colleagues, Maresca published in El Libertino fourteen erotic photographs of herself under a title suggesting a connection to the ad she had earlier presented and again including her name and telephone number.
The exterior of Plastique Kinetic Worms at 61 Kerbau Road, with its signboard subtitled as "A contemporary art space organised and managed by artists". Plastique Kinetic Worms (PKW) was a Singapore-based artist-run space and contemporary art collective, co-founded in 1998 by Singaporean artists Vincent Leow and Yvonne Lee. PKW was one of the few artist-run spaces in Singapore when it opened in the late 1990s, with the 1990 closure of the Ulu Sembawang site of Singapore's first artist colony, The Artists Village, and the disbanding of artist-run space and initiative, 5th Passage, after 1994. Originally organised around a collective of 10 artists, PKW's membership would vary, with around 15 to 20 members at various points of its active years.
He revisited his birthplace in 1959 and wrote to a friend: 'I visited an ancient pub, The Old Harrow near Weston Green. I always remember the lines on the signboard of that inn when I was a kid.... A street which runs adjacent to the Fitzroy River in the Rockhampton suburb of Wandal has been named Sir Raymond Huish Drive. The street is notable for providing access to the 2nd World War Memorial Aquatic Centre, the John Leak War Memorial, Alf Kele Memorial Rotary Park and the Victoria Park sports precinct, which includes Hegvold Stadium, home of local QBL team, the Rockhampton Rockets. Rockhampton Regional Council have erected a signboard beside the street featuring information about Huish, although it appears to have his enlistment age listed incorrectly as 18 in February 1916, despite Huish (who was born in December 1898) himself stating a number of times throughout his life that he was only aged 16 when he enlisted.
The guild of St. Luke in the Hague existed already in the 15th century and like most large Dutch cities, it catered not just to painters, but were united also with glaziers, engravers, sculptors, goldsmiths, printers and book sellers. In those days guilds were represented in churches with their own altars, and in the case of the painters' guild, they were sponsored by the church, and sometimes even ensured an income for church fathers through donations to the St. Luke's altar. After the Protestant Reformation, this all changed, and the churches were no longer a part of guild life. With the altarpieces gone that had traditionally been the public signboard for the artists, a new venue was necessary for sales.
Three-door temple gate has the architecture of the traditional style of the country with a line of round pillars, with the yin and yang tile. The gate has the curved designs and patterns of a village entrance but made with new materials. In the middle of three-door temple gate is the signboard "Ben Duoc Memorial Temple" and on the body of the pillars are the parallel sentences of the poet Bao Dinh Giang: To spread the heart for the whole country, To bring the current of red blood for protecting the country Having the mind to know the merit, sweet-smelling incense is burned one stick, There is always the image in life; the stars are twinkling a thousand years.

The station was used in the 1970s and 1980s by the BBC Television series All Creatures Great and Small, renamed as "Rainby Halt" for the show, with the signboard advising passengers bound for Darrowby to "alight here"; no passenger trains called at the station during that time. The station was reopened by the Wensleydale Railway on 23 December 2004 after being closed for half a century. Currently, trains operate on a request-stop basis, whereby if there are passengers on the platform then the train will halt, but if there are no passengers the train will continue through without stopping. Passengers wishing to alight at Finghall must inform a member of the train crew and they will take action to ensure the train stops at the station.

The inns were also a social amenity as a source of company and conviviality on the road. Their services made the development of regular supply routes possible, which in turn made a major contribution to the way in which areas were opened up for European settlement. Parson obtained a license for a hostelry named the Raglan Hotel at Black's Crossing in 1885. Although his name appears in most documents as Parsons, it is spelt on the hotel's signboard on a 19th-century photograph without the "s". He had not held a publican's license before and the license was in his name until 1902. It then passed to Joseph Jones and was held briefly by David Parsons in 1905, after which no further licenses were issued.

A diplomat at the Israeli embassy in New Delhi said that the embassy would protest in "the strongest terms possible" to the Indian government. The Israeli consul general in Mumbai asked state officials to ensure the store was renamed, but commented that she believes the use of the name most likely is a product of ignorance rather than antisemitism. Reports suggested that the shop owner had agreed to rename the store following an offer by a Jewish organization to pay the costs. E-1027 is currently undergoing restoration. Gray's original furniture has been removed from the house, and was sold in the early 1990s at the auction house Sotheby's. Replica furniture will be supplied for the house by Zeev Aram, a champion of Gray's work. Plans for its renovation are being prepared by the French government, who have designated it as a French National Cultural Monument. As a result, the state of France and the city of Roquebrune Cap Martin - through the national agency "Conservatoire du littoral" \- bought the villa in 1999 and made it secure provisionally. A signboard informs that E-1027 will be restored: the restoration is an initiative of the state of France, the department "Alpes Maritimes" and the city of Roquebrune (expenses to be borne 50% / 10% / 40% respectively).
However, cracks in the wooden plate were showing by early November, where a long vertical crack is visible on the left side of Hanja character "光" and beneath "門" in the middle. The Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) blamed the dry autumn weather for the contraction of the wood, but experts differs on that an immature pine board was used to meet the deadline for completion and that the wood had not dried properly. After many debates, a repair to the cracks was made, and the panel at CHA concluded in December 2010 that it should be replaced, hence the Government commissioned a new name plate. 13 wooden boards for the new signboard were cut in September 2011 and have since undergone a natural drying process in Gangwon Province.
Reeves also wanted Eisenhower to not wear his eyeglasses on camera in order to look younger, but he could not read the prompter board without them, so Reeves devised a large, handwritten signboard. Reeves's TV work, although pioneering, was the subject of considerable criticism on the grounds that he was attempting to sell a presidential candidate to the public in the same manner that one might sell a car or a brand of toothpaste. Adlai Stevenson for his part would have nothing to do with television at all and condemned Eisenhower's use of the medium, calling it "selling the presidency like cereal". He himself made a point of the fact that he did not own a TV or watch television, and many of his inner circle did likewise.
Wheaties began its association with sports in 1927, through advertising on the southern wall of minor league baseball's Nicollet Park in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In the contract, Wheaties sponsored the radio broadcasts of the minor league baseball team, Minneapolis Millers, on radio station WCCO and Wheaties was provided with a large billboard in the park to use to introduce new slogans. The first such slogan on the new signboard was penned by Knox Reeves, of a Minneapolis advertising agency. When asked what should be placed on the sign for Wheaties, Reeves sketched a Wheaties box on a pad of paper, thought for a moment, and wrote "Wheaties-The Breakfast of Champions". Throughout the 1930s, Wheaties increased in popularity with its sponsorship of baseball broadcasting, and by the end of the decade, nearly a hundred radio stations carried Wheaties sponsored events.
Although Sunnydale has long been familiar with demons and monsters who have inhabited the town and fed off its residents, in this episode the conventions by which societal functions are so disrupted by the unexplained silence that significant chaos results, enough to warrant both Riley and Buffy going on patrol to keep order. Buffy and Willow walk down a familiar street, arm-in-arm and easily startled, and see a bank closed and patrons running into a liquor store that is obviously open. The breakdown of order also causes sudden religious fervor; a group of people have gathered on the street to read the Bible (Revelation 15:1 is written on a signboard—an allusion to the seven angels with seven plagues as there are seven Gentlemen, according to author Nikki Stafford). Opportunistic capitalist fervor results in a man selling overpriced dry erase boards.

Historically, vertical writing was the standard system, and horizontal writing was only used where a sign had to fit in a constrained space, such as over the gate of a temple or the signboard of a shop. This horizontal writing is in fact a special case of vertical writing in which each column contains just one character. Therefore, before the end of World War II in Japan, those signs were read right to left. Today, the left-to-right direction is dominant in all three languages for horizontal writing: this is due partly to the influence of English and other Western languages to make it easier to read when the two languages are found together (for example, on signs at an airport or train station), and partly to the increased use of computerized typesetting and word processing software, most of which does not directly support right-to-left layout of East Asian languages.

LNER locomotive Mallard. Fascinated by railway engines since childhood, Eric Gill was immensely proud of the LNER's decision to standardise on his font. First unveiled in a single uppercase weight in 1928, Gill Sans achieved national prominence almost immediately, when it was chosen the following year to become the standard typeface by the LNER railway company, soon appearing on every facet of the company's identity, from metal locomotive nameplates and hand- painted station signage to printed restaurant car menus, timetables and advertising posters. The LNER promoted their rebranding by offering Gill (who was fascinated with railway engines) a footplate ride on the Flying Scotsman express service; he also painted for it a signboard in the style of Gill Sans, which survives in the collection of the St Bride Library. 1952 Jersey holiday events brochure, typical of the design style of the period In 1949 the Railway Executive decided on standard types of signs to be used at all stations.

In 2010, some remains of the tracks of the "Jurong Line" were dismantled by the KTM to replace the damaged rails in Bukit Timah railway station where a significant derailment accident occurred. The same year saw the Jurong station's destination signboard removed and lost and most of the remaining tracks were dismantled by the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) between August to September 2011 after the Tanjong Pagar railway station closed on 1 July that year. Only the old bridges atop the Ulu Pandan River, above a road at Sunset Way, beside Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim, before and after the Shipyard Road railroad crossing and above a river at Tanjong Kling along with tunnel crossings through Clementi (between an estate at Sunset Way and Maju Camp), the Teban Flyover and a major roundabout under the Jurong Island Bridge still exist. Much of the land where the old railway line runs have either been taken over by new (mainly industrial) developments in the Jurong area or are simply left abandoned and awaiting future use, and many smaller bridges on which the line runs have also disappeared over the years since 2011.
The Applegate Trail also traveled from Rye Patch Reservoir to Goose Lake. (The Applegate Trail was intended as a safer alternative to the main route of the Oregon Trail, and it continued into Oregon's Willamette Valley.) John D. Unruh, Jr., writes of Lassen's first attempt at using his cutoff, rescued from disaster by a group of well-supplied emigrants from Oregon who helped him reach his ranch: California Trail (thick red line), including Lassen Cut-Off (middle thin red line) > Here the wily Dane orchestrated a meeting wherein the emigrants supposedly > endorsed him as a guide and warmly praised his cutoffs. This deceptive > endorsement was rushed eastward to be printed in newspapers and influence > credulous forty-niners hell-bent for the gold fields. Planning carefully, > Lassen also dispatched agents to divert forty-niners onto the cutoff and to > set up trail advertisements (including a signboard at the Lassen Meadows, > where the Applegate Trail branched off from the Humboldt River) with the > reassuring message that the diggings were a mere 110 miles ahead ... [A > later] emigration trustingly followed their lead, many foolishly discarding > surplus provisions on the assumption that only 110 miles remained.

The Vauxhall 10-4 is a British-built small family car produced by Vauxhall between 1937 and 1947. It was launched at the October 1937 London Motor Show and was the first British car to have a unitary construction body.National Motor Museum signboard 1939 Vauxhall Ten-Four H-Type Beaulieu The first car was delivered to a customer on 1 November 1937. A structural innovation, (1937 - 1940) following the pattern set in 1935 by GM's German subsidiary, was the Ten's integral (chassisless) construction. According to Maurice Platt, who transferred from technical journalism to a career with Vauxhall in 1937 (and would be employed as the company's Chief Engineer between 1953 and 1963), the Vauxhall Ten became known within the company as the million-pound car, which reflected the extent of the company's investment in tooling up for the new model. Unfortunately war intervened, however: Vauxhall’s Luton plant switched to tank production and the Vauxhall 10 was unavailable after 1940. In 1938 and 1939 a two-door coupé version was also available, although it was built on a separate chassis as the smaller production numbers did not justify the tooling costs of a monocoque version. The 10 Coupé sat on a shortened and otherwise modified version of the earlier DX-series chassis.
