However, with Master Oogway's encouragement, Po endured their abuse without complaint in the personal hope that they could eventually change him into someone he can respect. The chart project is well known in the Xing Yi Quan community, and the information contained in it has never been disputed (further contributions, suggestions and objections may be made by directly contacting Mr. Bluestein, at: jonathan.bluesteingmail.com). An attempt was made to include as many notable teachers as possible, but due to the obvious constraints of space, not all could have been included.
However, as Tai Lung's fighting skills developed, his pride and thirst for power grew overwhelming due to believing that he was to become the Dragon Warrior, thus alerting Grand Master Oogway of darkness in his heart and leading him to refuse Tai Lung the title. Shocked, Tai Lung looked to Shifu for support, but the latter was too reluctant to protest. Embittered and outraged by Shifu and Oogway's perceived betrayal, Tai Lung's pride turned into corruption as he rampaged throughout the valley, taking out his rage against the villagers. He then fought his way back to the Jade Palace, seeking to take the Dragon Scroll, the item that was said to grant the chosen Dragon Warrior limitless power, by force.
It is then Shifu tells Tai Lung that he was always proud of him, too proud in fact as Shifu's pride in him blinded the master to see what his adopted son was becoming, and apologizes. When he finally sees that it is missing, he nearly destroys Shifu until Po comes in and stops him. After a protracted battle throughout the village, he finally manages to obtain the Dragon Scroll, but his impatience causes him to not understand its symbolism: the scroll is actually a blank reflective foil, meaning the power had always been buried deep within the person.

Upon returning, Shifu admitted that he was proud of her, and despite saying her style of fighting was unfocused and undisciplined, agreed to help her and the others develop their skills, eventually leading to them becoming the Furious Five. Tigress' finding the other members of the future Furious Five was due in part to the actions of Po, and their defeat of Boar in turn inspired his love of Kung Fu and led to his eventual destiny as the Dragon Warrior. As Po helped his father escape, Mr. Ping revealed that the secret ingredient of his Secret Ingredient Soup is nothing; people only had to believe it was special. With this advice, Po realized the scroll's true empowering symbolic value: the power lay within the knowledge that whatever someone turned themselves into with enough dedication made them the best version of themselves they could be. Encouraged, Po was then able to challenge Tai Lung in a climactic battle and defeat him with an improvised combat style, using his body fat not only to shield his nerves from chi strikes but also for deflecting attacks.

Cowell, M. R., Cribb J., and Ushi city. Xinjiang coins of the Qianlong era had reverse inscriptions in both Manchu and Turkic scripts. Even after the death of the Qianlong Emperor the Jiaqing Emperor ruled that 1 in 5 coins produced in Xinjiang should bear the inscription Qián Lóng Tōng Bǎo (乾隆通寶) to honour Qianlong, and celebrate his conquest of the region, this rule stayed in place even until the end of the Qing dynasty.Tang, Shifu: Zhongguo gu qianbi.
Jin feels that the play shows a great degree of unity and tightness in its structure. This opinion can be seen explicitly in his comments, as well as in the fact that he does not make structural alterations to the play to nearly the degree as in his version of Water Margin. Jin does, however, comment on Part V of the play. This part has been thought by some commentators to be a continuation added by an author other than Wang Shifu.
Not to be confused with the female snow leopard of the same name, Mei Ling is a female fox and an antagonist exclusive to Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness. A rogue Kung Fu master with skills that rival Shifu's, Mei Ling was also Shifu's love interest for an unspecified amount of time. Falling in love after their first confrontation, they quickly entered a relationship. However, Shifu broke off the relationship after Mei Ling refused to stop using her Kung Fu to steal.
In the first film, Shifu is quite often shown to be angered, frustrated, despairing or worried, at first for an unknown reason. However, it is later revealed that Tai Lung is Shifu's adoptive son, whom he had trained, loved, and raised as if he were his own. This extends to Po who was dubbed the Dragon Warrior against all logic from Shifu's point of view. Shifu's initial hostility to the giant panda fades upon learning his considerable latent talent for the martial arts.
Po manages to break up the fight upon telling Peng the truth. Po then does the ceremonial Tai Chi with Peng and Temutai. In "My Favorite Yao," Temutai and his Qidan troops set out to capture Master Yao to interrogate him for his secrets. The abduction proved easier than anticipated owing to Yao, being impulsively released from his box by Shifu, began to run amok through the village with childish delight at all the sensations he denied himself for 65 years.
Po (Jack Black) is assigned by Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman) to teach an introduction to Kung Fu class for a group of rambunctious bunny children. Po tries to explain to the kids that combat is not the only part of what Kung Fu is about, while its true meaning is "excellence of self." To illustrate his point, he uses the stories of the Furious Five's individual pasts and the basic philosophical concepts they learned that enabled them to be great Kung Fu masters.
She studied the business from the shifus her father brought on. One shifu was an expert in how to handle snakes while a second was an expert in how to make snake soup. In her first three months at the restaurant, she would only slice snake meat as she was too fearful to actually kill the snake. After witnessing the daughter of the owner of snake restaurant Sher Wong Yip on Nam Cheong Street kill snakes, she summoned enough courage to begin killing snakes herself.
Ge (2003), p. 3. At the same time, Jin believed that authorial intention is less important than the commentator's reading of a story. In his Romance of the Western Chamber commentary, he writes, "Xixiang Ji is not a work written by an individual named Wang Shifu alone; If I read it carefully, it will also be a work of my own creation, because all the words in Xixiang Ji happen to be the words that I want to say and that I want to write down".
After Po defeated Temutai, Constable Hu told Po to skedaddle until Superintendent Chang invited Po to sit by him. Superintendent Chang tells Constable Hu that the banquet was boring until Po arrived. When Master Shifu hoped that Superintendent Chang would promote Constable Hu and reassign him, Superintendent Chang instead renews Constable Hu's position for another 10 years. In "Shifu's Back", Po and the others are left waiting for a very long time when it is decided that they need a licence to use their kung fu.
Paddle-wheel ships operated with treadmills were constructed continuously in various sizes between 1132 and 1183. The engineer Gao Xuan devised a ship outfitted with up to eleven paddle wheels on each side, and Qin Shifu, another engineer, designed the iron plating for armoring the ships in 1203. All these advances supported a rapid increase in the size of the force; according to Joseph Needham, "From a total of 11 squadrons and 3,000 men [the Song navy] rose in one century to 20 squadrons totalling 52,000 men".
However, Master Storming Ox refuses to join them saying that if he does, Lord Shen will use the Weapon on the city and kill everyone and that Kung Fu is dead. He later changes his mind and joins them for the last battle saying that "their friend (Master Shifu) is very persuasive." After Lord Shen's death at the hands of Po, and with Master Thundering Rhino dead, Master Storming Ox became the new leader of the Masters' Council, and therefore the new king of Gongmen City.
Unfortunately, Fung and his cohorts turned to using their position for their own benefit, and became complacent about keeping up their training to stay in shape. They were thus defeated in a battle with the heroes, and Shifu then revealed the truth behind his ruse. In "Apocalypse Yao," Fung and Gahri were part of a group of villains who gathered to bid on Kung Fu secrets stolen from Master Yao by Taotie, but were defeated despite gaining two of the secrets for their own use.

He crash-lands in front of Oogway as he points towards the Dragon Warrior. To the astonishment of everyone present, Oogway proclaims Po as the chosen warrior. Po considers resigning, but after receiving encouragement from Oogway, he endures his training and gradually befriends the Five with his resilience, culinary skill, and good humor.
Shaolin Temple UK is most well known for Gong Fu (or Kung Fu), and participates in national and international fighting competitions, as well as interclub fights with Muay Thai fighters. This is the style of fighting which the temple's students use in competition. The temple's founder and main teacher Shifu Yanzi was Chinese National Champion for 15 years in the art.
When he no longer found the doctrines of anarchism persuasive, he conducted an extensive public debate with anarchist intellectuals such as Liu Shifu which clarified their points of difference. His views influenced contemporary Chinese who later became major political figures in China. After he became estranged from them, Chinese anarchists accused Jiang of being "hopelessly confused." This confusion was not apparent to Mao Zedong, who later stated that, as a student, Jiang's writings had been a major influence on the development of his own political, social, and economic theories.
For speakers of alphabetic languages who are familiar with easy dictionary lookup, using a Chinese dictionary based on the Yunhai jingyuan system is very user-unfriendly. Three later dictionaries of literary allusions followed the 106-rime arrangement of the Yunhai jingyuan. First were the Yuan dynasty (c. 1280) Yunfu qunyu 韻府群玉 "Assembly of Jade Tablets, a Word-Store arranged by Rhymes" compiled by Yin Shifu 陰時夫 and the Ming dynasty (1592) Wuche yunrui 五車韻瑞 "Five Cartloads of Rhyme-inscribed Jade Tablets" by Ling Zhilong 淩稚隆.

Although the temple has been maintained throughout the ages, much of it suffered great damage and has been in a state of disrepair for much time. In 1995, Master Li Shifu came to practice as an Abbot here and to train disciples in the arts of Daoism. Since he has arrived, the restoration project has begun. It has been a slow and challenging process due to the state of dilapidation but improvement and development has been consistent over the last two decades and the temple is gradually increasing its capacity to host more students.

When the sword reappears years later, Fenghuang is released from prison-though manacled-by her former teammates to help them recover it in exchange for her freedom. Fenghuang later destroys the sword, and is freed after Po convinces the former Five to honor their agreement.
Murong Fuyun (慕容伏允) (597–635), formal title Busabo Khan (步薩鉢可汗), was a ruler of the Xianbei state Tuyuhun. Liu Shipei and He Zhen The Tokyo group drew on the same influences but in a different order of preference. While the Paris group was enamored of western science and western civilization, leaders such as Liu Shifu rooted their anarchism in political traditions native to Asia. In practical terms this meant the Paris group studied Esperanto, advocated anarcho-syndicalism, and drew heavily upon the works of Mikhail Bakunin and Peter Kropotkin. The Tokyo group advocated an agrarian society built around democratically run villages organized into a free federation for mutual aid and defense.

In "Shifu's Ex", she returns to the Jade Palace, much to Shifu's dismay, causing him to panic hysterically and resort to hiding in a closet. Mei Ling though is wise to these avoidance tricks and easily finds him. She later uses the Zhou Deng Soul Gem to swap bodies with him during a kiss in order to manipulate Po and the Furious Five to rob an imperial convoy of precious jewels. However, this failed when Shifu (still in Mei Ling's body) revealed the deception and used the Soul Gem to swap back their respective bodies while they embraced in another kiss.
Grand Master Oogway (Chinese for "Tortoise") was an elderly Galápagos tortoise known to have been the previous senior headmaster of the Jade Palace and the founder of Kung Fu itself. Also because of this, he keeps the Grand Master title, and Master Shifu never acquires this title.
However, when Tigress faced Boar, she and the others came to her aid, helping to defeat him. Korean and Japanese anarchism developed in close connection to each other. While Korea was under Japanese occupation, Korean radicals were first introduced to anarchism in China and Japan. Due to the development of Japanese left-wing thought and translations of major works, Koreans in Japan often had greater access to both socialist and anarchist materials, bolstering the spread of these ideologies. For instance, Korean anarchist Yi Yongjun was attracted to anarchism through Ōsugi Sakae's translations of the works of anarchist theorist Peter Kropotkin, and was influenced by both Kōtoku Shūsui and the Chinese anarchist Liu Shifu.

He learns to nurture his students as the films go on. Shifu knows the art of nerve strikes, although he is never shown to use it and he also knows how to heal the aftermath of a nerve strike.
Tigress faced Boar in his place, masquerading as Shifu. Boar initially gained the upper hand in their fight, as her mimicry of Shifu's style was no match for Boar, but when Mantis, Crane, Viper and Monkey intervened and came to her aid, Tigress gave up Shifu's style of Kung Fu to use her own, and the five quickly gained the upper hand against Boar, swiftly defeating him and putting an end to his rampage. Liu Shifu, a member of the Guangzhou group. The main base of anarchist activity in mainland China during this phase was in Guangzhou, and the Paris and Tokyo groups continued to have significant influence. The Pure Socialists were also strongly involved, but because they were Buddhists as much as they were anarchists, were more concerned with promoting virtue and less focused on immediate revolution. By this time the Paris group had rendered their anarchism into a genuine philosophy that was more concerned with the place of the peaceful individual within society than with the day-to-day grind of government coercion against working people.
The Chikuzen biwa was used by Buddhist monks visiting private residences to perform memorial services, not only for Buddhist rites, but also for telling entertaining stories and news while accompanying themselves on the biwa, and this form of storytelling was thought to be spread in this way. Not much seems to have been written about biwas from roughly the 16th century to the mid-19th century. What is known is that three main streams of biwa emerged during that time: zato (the lowest level of the state-controlled guild of blind biwa players), shifu (samurai style), and chofu (urban style). These styles emphasized ()—vocalization with biwa accompaniment—and formed the foundation for () styles such as shinnai and kota.

Po attempted to hide by disguising himself as Zeng via a shift-stone, and was revealed by Shifu. Po was forced to reveal that he had vanquished Tai Lung to Peng in private and also trying to show that Tai Lung is evil, and Peng attacked and defeated Po in a rage as an attempt to avenge his uncle, sending him fleeing.
At the order of Shifu, Tigress and the rest of the Five evacuated the Valley without question. When Po defeats Tai Lung, Tigress is the first to acknowledge him as a master of kung fu, giving him a smile and bowing to him in respect, with the rest of the Five following suit. In Secrets of the Furious Five, Tigress was revealed to be an orphan living in the Bao Gu Orphanage where she was greatly feared by the other children and the matron due to her destructive temper and strength. Isolated in her room for the safety of the other children, she began to see herself as a monster, as everyone else did.

In "Crazy Little Ling Called Love," it was revealed that Shifu's ex-girlfriend Mei Ling attempted to steal from Junjie but was captured, and Junjie threatened to kill her and Shifu unless she stole the Crown of Heaven for him. This was later discovered by Po, who convinced Mei Ling to go along with the plan.

He first appeared in "The Kung Fu Kid", where he visited the Valley of Peace during its Peace Jubilee and was forced into a confrontation with Temutai's nephew, Jing Mei. When the leopard quickly defeated the young water buffalo, the deeply impressed Po persuaded Master Shifu to consider taking him in as a student. Unfortunately, the combination of the cub's likably humble character and his considerable skill drew him so much favor with Jade Palace's residents that Po grew threatened and a little jealous, especially when the cub mused of becoming the Dragon Warrior himself.
Shifu could not bring himself to harm his adoptive son, whereas Tai Lung felt no such hesitation and smashed aside his mentor and father figure without mercy. However, the leopard was no match for Oogway, who hit him with a lighting fast series of nerve attacks, paralyzing and defeating him. Following his defeat, Tai Lung was sent to Chorh-Gom Prison for his crimes against the valley and kept restrained by a body-device shaped like a turtle shell. Despite Tai Lung's imprisonment, this left a hole in Shifu's soul due to the fact that the love he gave Tai Lung went to waste, and as a result, he started training the Furious Five with a more harsh and critical manner.

They were then approached by Shifu and trained in the art of Kung Fu, which they ended up using to help people out. As part of an effort to get the Furious Five and Po to take training more seriously, the Croc Bandits were revealed to have been trained as the heroes' replacements.
After doing so, he used the sphere to force Po, Shifu, and all the members of the Furious Five except Tigress act like puppets, but was defeated after Tigress approached Yao for a means of destroying the weapon. In "Apocalypse Yao," he created a machine capable of extracting information from the minds of others and turning it into cookies which, upon consumption, would grant that knowledge to the eater. He and Bian Zao used this to steal Master Yao's five greatest Kung Fu secrets, which they then endeavored to sell to the highest bidder. Taotie briefly employed one of the secrets himself, but later became repulsed with himself for employing Kung Fu when he had dedicated his life to proving the superiority of technology.

Zhang's next major project was the ambitious wuxia drama Hero, released in China in 2002. With an impressive lineup of Asian stars, including Jet Li, Maggie Cheung, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Zhang Ziyi, and Donnie Yen, Hero told a fictional tale about Ying Zheng, the King of the State of Qin (later to become the first Emperor of China), and his would-be assassins.
The Pure Socialists revised platform included the complete abolition of property and an anarchist-communist economic system. Shifu criticized them for retaining the name "Socialist" but their platform was clearly anarchist so the two groups generally considered each other comrades. The emphasis on the importance of the Peasant struggle, which had been pioneered earlier by the Tokyo group, would also become a major subject of discussion and organizing among Chinese anarchists from both the Pure Socialists and the Guangzhou group in this period. It was anarchists who first pointed to the crucial role that the peasants must play in any serious revolutionary attempt in China, and anarchists were the first to engage in any serious attempts to organize the Peasants.
Oogway then banished Kai to the Spirit Realm after Kai tried to take the pandas' powers of chi for himself. As Kai can only be defeated by a master of chi, Po decides to learn the power of chi on Li's suggestions as it was an innate ability of the inhabitants of the panda village. Po is told however that he must learn to live like a panda, which he takes to upon arriving in the village and is glad to be a part of. Later on, Tigress arrives at the Panda Village, revealing that Kai has taken the chi of all the kung fu masters including Shifu, Crane, Mantis, Viper, and Monkey, (she is the only one to escape) and that Kai has destroyed the Jade Palace.
Thirty years prior to the events of the first film, the peacock rulers of Gongmen City are forced to exile their only son Lord Shen, after he kills all pandas in the area to avert a prophecy of a panda being his doom. In the present, Lord Shen and his wolf army start to raid villages for scrap metal. Meanwhile, Po is enjoying his new role as a Kung Fu Master alongside the Furious Five, though Master Shifu warns him he has not yet achieved true inner peace and tries to train him accordingly. When the Wolf Boss raids the Musicians' Village, Po and the Five intercept him; however, he manages to escape with the metal when Po is distracted by a symbol on his armor, causing Po to have a flashback of his mother.
The monks slept on a piece of wood with a blanket on it, sometimes using their clothes for pillows, which Shi says is good for the back, compared to American beds, which he says are too comfortable. Although Shi met his Buddhism Shifu, Shi Yong Qian, almost immediately after entering the temple, he did not begin seriously studying with him until he was about 14 or 15. Because the temple did not have running water, the monks had to transport it from mountain rivers just outside the temple, draw it from a well, and collect rainwater. When the temple acquired running water in 1986, the monks were dissatisfied, because under the system of feng shui, digging up the ground and laying in pipes was, as Shi puts it, akin to "cutting your veins out".
Doorways inside the mansion Shi Family Grand Courtyard (Tiānjīn Shí Jiā Dà Yuàn, 天津石家大院) is situated in Yangliuqing, Xiqing District, which is the former residence of wealthy merchant Shi Yuanshi – the 4th son of Shi Wancheng, one of the eight great masters in Tianjin. First built in 1875, it covers over 6,000 square meters, including large and small yards and over 200 folk houses, a theater and over 275 rooms that served as apartments and places of business and worship for this powerful family. Shifu Garden, which finished its expansion in October 2003, covers 1,200 square meters, incorporates the elegance of imperial garden and delicacy of south garden. Now the courtyard of Shi family covers about 10,000 square meters, which is called the first mansion in North China.
Upon managing to steal them and grow her own Shuyong seeds, Fenghuang started going back in time to prevent the birth of Master Shifu and the Furious Five. When she planned to go back in time to prevent Po's birth, Po grabbed onto Fenghuang with the resulting battle causing the Shuyong seeds to fall and send both of them back to the beginning of time where they find themselves before the Shuyong Tree. Upon the Shuyong Tree judging Po and Fenghuang even after they bested the Shuyong Tree's guardians, the Shuyong Tree deemed Po worthy of using its fruit and the Shuyong Tree used its powers to send Fenghuang into oblivion. Afterwards, Po restored time to the way it was and burned the Shuyong seeds except for one that he didn't notice.
By 1914 anarchism had become a genuine popular movement in China as increasing numbers of people from peasants and factory workers to intellectuals and students became disillusioned with the Nationalist government and its inability to realize the peace and prosperity it had promised. A major liability that the movement had picked up along the way, however, was the extreme diffusion of anarchist idea to the point where it was becoming difficult to define exactly who was and who was not an anarchist. Liu Shifu set out to remedy that situation in a series of articles in Peoples Voice, which attacked Jiang Kanghu, Sun Yat-Sen, and the Pure Socialists. The debates that ensued served for the first time to really crystallize what exactly was meant by anarchism in the broad sense.
Po, a clumsy panda, is a kung fu fanatic who lives in the Valley of Peace and works in his goose father Mr. Ping's noodle shop, unable to realize his dream of learning kung fu. One day, a kung fu tournament is held for the elderly spiritual leader of the valley, Grand Master Oogway, to determine the identity of the Dragon Warrior, the one kung fu master capable of understanding the secret of the Dragon Scroll, which is said to contain the key to limitless power. Everyone in the valley expects the Dragon Warrior to be one of the Furious Five—Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Viper, and Crane—a quintet of kung fu warriors trained by Master Shifu to protect the valley. To everyone's surprise, Oogway chooses Po, who had accidentally stumbled into the tournament arena after arriving late via fireworks explosion.
Shortly after the events of the second film, Shifu relinquishes his duties as master of the Jade Palace to Po, claiming that the next step of his own apprenticeship is to oversee the Furious Five's training. While struggling with this new responsibility, Po rejoices upon reuniting with his biological father, Li, though Mr. Ping is less enthusiastic. However, news arrives that the spirit warrior General Kai has returned to the mortal realm and is 'collecting' Kung Fu masters from all over China, both living and dead, to serve in his army of Jade Zombies. Po and the others discover from a scroll left by Oogway that Kai can only be defeated by the power of Chi, a technique known only by the panda colonies; thus, Po and Li set to the secret Panda Valley in order to have Po learn it.
Zeng is a palace goose, who acts in the first movie as Master Shifu's messenger and is specifically given the mission to try to double the amount of guards at Chorh-Gom Prison where Tai Lung is held captive, under the orders of Shifu, based on Oogway's vision that Tai Lung will escape. The irony is that, while visiting the prison, one of Zeng's feathers falls near Tai Lung, who uses it to pick the lock on his restraints and escape, echoing one of Oogway's statements that "one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it". In the resulting carnage, Zeng is spared and forced to return to the valley and herald Tai Lung's escape. He is extremely nervous and pessimistic, but is nonetheless willing to fulfill the assignment given to him.
Late in 594, Yang Guang submitted a petition that Emperor Wen carry out the ancient ceremonies of worshipping the heaven and earth gods at Mount Tai. Emperor Wen declined to carry out a full set of ceremonies due to its costs, but in spring 595 carried out an abbreviated version to seek blessings from the gods due to the ongoing drought. Also in spring 595, Emperor Wen ordered that no weapons be held by private individuals and that all of them be collected and destroyed, although he exempted the border provinces from this edict. In 596, Emperor Wen created a daughter of a clansman the Princess Guanghua and married her to Murong Shifu, to cement the peaceful relations with Tuyuhun. In 597, Cuan Wan (), the chief of the Nanning Tribe (南寧夷, located in modern Qujing, Yunnan), rebelled.
Their tendency toward peace was somewhat surprising given the relatively wealthy backgrounds of most of the Paris group, but it would lead to increased friction between them and those comrades supportive of government coercion in Guangzhou. The Guangzhou group is usually described as being "led" by Liu Shifu, and this is generally accurate insofar as we understand it as leadership by example since he was never granted any formal position or coercive authority by the group. Their most significant contributions at this stage were the foundation of "an alliance between intellectuals and workers" and their propaganda work which set out to differentiate anarchism from all the other socialisms that were gaining in popularity; and in so doing crystallized for the first time exactly what anarchism was. Where the Paris group had preferred to outline their ideal in terms of negative freedoms, i.e.
When Po started to question Tsin's motives and mentality, Tsin ended up hunting Po. Po managed to evade Tsin, but doubled back following a vision revolving around Hundun speaking to him. During the fight with Po in his collection room, Tsin trapped Po in the Zu Chao Powder chamber where it was discovered that Po had reversed the powder's effects freeing the villains who then vowed to have General Tsin pay for what he did to them and they begin attacking him. Tsin fought the villains and proves to be more of a match to them until they start to win and are then repelled by Po. Although Tsin is sent to Chorh-Gom Prison, Shifu wasn't pleased that one of the Jade Palace's benefactors ended up incarcerated because of his actions. Po then states that now they can go after the villains that escaped from Tsin's palace.
Murong Fuyun's father Murong Kualü's reign (r. 540-591) as khan had been a turbulent one, particularly late in his reign, when even his crown princes were said to have been fearful for their deaths. As for his relations with China, then divided between Sui Dynasty (under the reign of Emperor Wen) and Chen Dynasty (under the reign of Chen Shubao), he was constantly attacking the provinces of Sui that were on the border of Tuyuhun, although after Sui destroyed Chen in 589, Murong Kualü was fearful and vacated the border region. He died in 591 and was succeeded by Murong Fuyun's older brother Murong Shifu, who offered to submit to Emperor Wen and further to offer a daughter to serve as Emperor Wen's concubine—which Emperor Wen (who had very few, if any, concubines, due to his love for his wife Empress Dugu) declined.
Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman) assigns Po (Jack Black) to host the annual Winter Feast at the Jade Palace, a highly ritualized formal occasion where all the Kung Fu masters of China attend, insisting on the perfection of the event. Although excited, Po also wishes to spend the holiday with his father Mr. Ping (James Hong), and rejects the finest chefs in China in an attempt to have him cater the event. However, Mr. Ping believes Po is more concerned with his duties as the Dragon Warrior, and adamantly remains at his restaurant to feed the townsfolk who have nowhere else to eat for the holiday. Guilt-ridden, Po tries to cook the banquet by himself, but is quickly overwhelmed by the various responsibilities that come with it, further complicated by the interference of Wo Hop (Jack McBrayer), a rabbit chef he had accidentally disgraced earlier and is desperate to die at the hands of the Dragon Warrior to redeem his honor.
Secrets of the Furious Five (also known as Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five) is a 2008 American animated short film produced by DreamWorks Animation, which serves as a semi-sequel or spin-off to the animated feature film Kung Fu Panda and appears on a companion disc of the original film's deluxe DVD release. It was later broadcast on NBC on February 26, 2009 and is now available as a separate DVD as of March 24, 2009. The film has a framing story of Po the Dragon Warrior (in computer animation) telling the stories of his comrades in arms, the Furious Five, which are depicted in 2D cel animation, similar to the opening and end credits of the original film. The only actors from the film to reprise their roles in this short were Jack Black as Po, Dustin Hoffman as Master Shifu, David Cross as Crane, and Randall Duk Kim as Master Oogway.
Emperor Wen sent Yang Su to quell the rebellions, and the rebels were no match for Yang Su; within the year, the rebellions were put down. In 591, Tuyuhun sought peace and, as per custom, its khan Murong Shifu () offered his daughter to be a concubine for Emperor Wen. Emperor Wen accepted the peace offer but declined the offer of Murong Shifu's daughter. (It was, however, around this time that he did take Chen Shubao's sister and another woman from Jiankang, Consort Cai, as concubines, although it appeared likely that Consort Cai was never able to have sexual relations with Emperor Wen while Empress Dugu was alive; Consort Chen, as the sister of a submissive former sovereign, might have had sexual relations with Emperor Wen on an infrequent basis, but it is not clear.) In spring 592, the official He Tuo (), who, despite his senior status over Su Wei's son Su Kui (), was losing out against Su Kui over a debate as to the designation of official music styles for Sui.
