In the Third Syrian War (246-241 BC), Ptolemy III invaded the Seleucid empire and won a near total victory, but was forced to abandon the campaign as a result of an uprising in Egypt. At his death, Ptolemy was succeeded by his eldest son, Ptolemy IV Philopator.

"Lane moje" (, , English translation: literally - My Fawn, figuratively - My Darling) is the name of the song performed by Serbian musician Željko Joksimović at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 representing Serbia and Montenegro, in which it finished second. Inspired by traditional Serbian music (also called Ethno), in the style of a ballad, it won in the semi-finals but ultimately lost closely to Ukrainian Wild Dances, finishing second scoring 263 points, becoming the first non-winning song in the contest, along with Greece's entry Shake it, to score over 200 points. The song set a trend of world music strategy in the competition by the former Yugoslav republics. The song has become popular amongst many Eurovision fans and it is often rated as one of the best non-winning songs.

Season 2002–03 set a trend of optimism followed by great disappointment that would continue in the following years. The season started well enough, a 1–0 defeat at Colchester on the opening day forgotten after consecutive wins over Port Vale, Mansfield, Swindon & Lincoln. However, those wins turned out to be the exception rather than the rule and County languished in the relegation zone for much of the season, until another run of four victories (over Wycombe, Plymouth, Northampton & Huddersfield) helped the club climb to mid- table at the end of the season. The summer of 2003 saw the club change ownership, as chairman Brendan Elwood sold the club to Sale Sharks owner Brian Kennedy, in a move that would see Sale play their home games at Edgeley Park.

FK Dubnica was founded in 1926 and spent much of its early years playing in the regional Czechoslovakian leagues until 1977 where they were finally promoted to the national first division and finished a respectable 9th in their first season. The team continued in top flight football for 10 years before being relegated in 1987 and it would be at least another 10 years before the team would play at the highest national level again but this time in the independent state of Slovakia. In 1996 Dubnica gained its promotion from the Slovak second division to form part of a newly structured league consisting of one league and 15 other teams. Dubnica would then be relegated the following season, which would set a trend of swinging between the first and second divisions.

Despite initially guiding Barnet off the foot of League Two, and lifting them out of the relegation zone, Barnet dropped back into the bottom two on the final day of the 2012–13 season, following a defeat to Northampton Town, and were relegated out of the Football League at the expense of AFC Wimbledon who were able to escape by beating Fleetwood Town. On 21 May 2013, it was announced that Davids would remain in charge of Barnet for the club's 2013–14 Conference Premier season. In July 2013, Davids announced his decision to wear the number 1 shirt for the 2013–14 season, a shirt number traditionally worn by goalkeepers, saying that he intends to "set a trend" of midfielders wearing the number 1 shirt. Discipline was a major problem for Davids in the 2013–14 season.

Another successful film in this period, a devotional Nandanaar was a controversial story of a harijan man overcoming the shackles of the caste oppression to gain admittance into the Chidambaram Nataraja temple with divine sanction, hence becoming a Nayanmar shaivite saint. This starred the famous singer Dandapani Desikar with the film and soundtrack becoming a runaway superhit in Tamil Nadu. Technically, it was the first film in India that used playback singing in a portion where a divine song, a call to the saint in a heavenly voice rings out of the ether – this of course set a trend for playback singers and revolutionised the necessity to use singer- actors for films that had been the norm through the 1930s and early 1940s. Vasan's involvement in films eventually led him to direct his first movie, Chandralekha.

Masilamani's distinguished service with the Bible Society of India was followed by a widespread evangelistic ministry,Orville E. Daniel, Moving with the Times, The story of Baptist outreach from Canada into Asia, South America and Africa during one hundred years (1874–1974) since the Canadian Baptist Mission was founded in India, Canadian Baptist Overseas Mission Board, Toronto, Canada, 1973, p.114. a fact reiterated by the Old Testament Scholar G. Babu Rao who points out that during Masilamani's tenure at the Bible Society of India Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary, he had set a trend and his work was regarded with great respect among the Protestant Churches in undivided Andhra Pradesh. After a six-year tenure, Masilamani retired as auxiliary secretary of Bible Society of India Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary in 1969 making the Bible Society of India Trust Association to huddle and appoint B. G. Prasada Rao of the Church of South India.

In December 2016, Bijuli Machine, Nepal's first science-fiction film with a social story was released and ran successfully in cinemas. The movie was directed and written by Navin Awal with Santosh Lamichhane as a scientific consultant. It was reported that the movie set a trend in Nepali films by a making a movie with a low budget, without an item song, stereotypical fights or a romantic story, rather with an authentic Nepali story inspired by the problems faced in the society, like electricity power cuts, and still succeeded to entertain the audience. Likewise, Kalo Pothi (Black Hen) by Min Bahadur Bham, Highway by Deepak Rauniyar, Nivna Lageko Diyo (Dying Candle) by Naresh K.C. and Seto Surya (White Sun) by Deepak Rauniyar have been officially selected to major international film festivals like Venice, Berlin, Toronto international film festival and winning award at Singapore international film festival.

Gharwali Uparwali is considered as a milestone on Indian television on two counts. Firstly, Gharwali Uparwali is Indian television’s first-ever indigenous fantasy-comedy franchise and the instant popularity of this trail-blazing new fantasy-sitcom genre, replete with top-of-the-line visual effects [VFX], and which appealed to children as well as adults at the same time, set a trend that was followed by a plethora of similar shows such as Karishma Ka Karishma, Shararat, Meri Biwi Wonderful, Jeannie aur Juju, et al. Secondly, Gharwali Uparwali, which marked the television debut of Indian film actor Mukul Dev and which also starred critically acclaimed Indian film actress Ratna Pathak Shah, not only rapidly acquired cult status as an urbane and classic sitcom but also instantaneously caught the fancy of almost the entire Indian film industry. Consequently, Gharwali Uparwali went on to become the first and only show ever in Indian television history to feature such a huge ensemble of popular film celebrities.

The Lancashire Cricket League was formed on 16 March 1892, growing from the North East Cricket League that had been formed 17 months earlier. Currently in membership are Accrington CC, Bacup CC, Burnley CC, Church CC, Clitheroe CC, Colne CC, Crompton CC, Darwen Cricket Club, East Lancashire CC, Enfield CC, Great Harwood, Haslingden CC, Littleborough CC, Lowerhouse CC, Middleton CC, Milnrow CC, Nelson CC, Norden CC, Ramsbottom CC, Rawtenstall CC, Rishton CC, Rochdale CC, Todmorden CC (actually in Yorkshire) and Walsden CC (also in W Yorks). In the early years Bury CC were also members but they withdrew after participating for just two seasons. The early 1890s saw the sudden emergence of cricket leagues all over Lancashire, with the first in 1888 ‑ the Bolton Association. The North Lancashire League and the Central Lancashire League all started the same year as the Lancashire League in 1892. The Football League had set a trend in season 1888‑89 and also had its heart in Lancashire, and with professionals and regular friendlies and local derbies, the leagues quickly became very popular institutions, with games played at weekends when working people had rare leisure time.
