The Seven Holy Founders of the Servite Order were Alexis Falconieri () (1200 – 17 February 1310), Amadeus of the Amidei (died 1266) (also known as Bartolomeo degli Amidei), Hugh dei Lippi Uggucioni (Ricovero dei Lippi-Ugguccioni), Benedetto dell' Antella (Manettus), Gherardino di Sostegno (Sostene), Buonfiglio dei Monaldi (Bonfilius), and Giovanni di Buonagiunta (Bonajuncta).

Alexis Falconieri (d. 1310), one of the seven founders of the Servite Order. From the beginning, the members of the Order dedicated themselves to Mary under her title of Mother of Sorrows. Dedicating their devotion to the mother of Jesus, they adopted Mary's virtues of hospitality and compassion as the order's hallmarks.

The monastery was seriously damaged by bombs during the Seven Years' War in 1757. There was general resentment toward the European monastic life in the following period of the Age of Enlightenment. The New Town and the Old Town monasteries were merged in 1783. The Servite order was cancelled on 23. 6. 1786.

This iconic league members were: St. Paul (Santa Fe Springs), Mater Dei (Santa Ana), Servite (Anaheim), Bishop Amat (La Puente), Pius X (Downey) and St. Anthony (Long Beach). In the late 1970s, things started to shift again. St. Anthony dropped in 1977 and was replaced by Bishop Montgomery.Pius X dropped in 1980.

Its core members were: Servite, Mater Dei, St. John Bosco and Santa Margarita. This lasted through 2001. The next year two new teams were added, Loyola and Bishop Amat. This lasted until 2006, when Loyola and Bishop Amat were moved to the Mission League and were replaced by Orange Lutheran and JSerra.

It received the formal ratification from Rome on 17 December 1993 and would proceed to Rome for stringent investigation. John Paul II approved the healing to be a legitimate miracle in 1998 and beatified Baccilieri on 3 October 1999. The current postulator assigned to the cause is the Servite priest Franco M. Azzali.

As president of this tribunal, he sentenced Cardinal Petrucci to death on 16 July 1517. On 4 November 1517 he was one of eight cardinals appointed to a commission to wage war against the Ottoman Empire. He was the cardinal protector of the Servite Order. He died in Rome on 5 February 1518.

They then proceeded to cede the church and convent to the Servite Order(Servants of Mary) on May 31, 1435. The next day, Francesco Malipiero, the bishop of Vicenza, gave the chapel the name that still exists today. In 1821 were cast the 15 bells in B, rung in the Veronese bellringing art.

The Rosary of the Seven Sorrows, also known as the Chaplet of Seven Sorrows or the Servite Rosary, is a Rosary based prayer that originated with the Servite Order.Ann Ball, 2003 Encyclopedia of Catholic Devotions and Practices page 487 It is often said in connection with the Seven Sorrows of Mary. It is a rosary consisting of a ring of seven groups of seven beads separated by a small medal depicting one of the sorrows of Mary, or a single bead. A further series of three beads and a medal are also attached to the chain (before the first "sorrow") and these are dedicated to prayer in honour of Mary's Tears, as well as to indicate the beginning of the chaplet.

Anna Juliana Gonzaga as a Servite Sister Through the years Anne reportedly had a number of visions from the Virgin Mary. In 1606, on the Feast of the Annunciation and in her chapel in prayer, Anne purportedly received another such visit from Mary instructing her to build a convent there in Innsbruck for the Servants of Mary, Religious Sisters of the Servite Third Order founded by St. Juliana Falconieri in the 14th century, of which she was to be a member. With the blessing of Pope Paul V, Anna proceeded with building. Through prayer Anna received further instruction to build her convent on the grounds of her garden; the first stone was placed on the Feast of the Visitation in 1606.

The lectern at the church of Saint-Étienne in Espelette is inscribed with the first verse from the Vulgate. The psalm is number 99 in the Vulgate: # Jubilate Deo omnis terra : servite Domino in lætitia. # Introite in conspectu ejus : in exsultatione. # Scitote quoniam Dominus ipse est Deus : ipse fecit nos, et non ipsi nos.

Kahn attended Servite High School in Anaheim, California. He earned three varsity letters and was voted Most Valuable Player his freshman year. In his senior season he served as the team's captain. He was drafted in the eight round of the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers but did not sign.

Sean Estrada (born May 23, 1985) is a former American football guard and center who played for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League. He was originally signed by the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He played college football at Pennsylvania. He attended Servite High School and graduated in 2003.

All required courses in all disciplines must be passed and no student may graduate from Servite with an unredeemed 'F' on his transcript. In addition to credit requirements, no ‘F’ policy, and Christian service hours, there are also specific course requirements. Students must also complete a minimum of 156 hours of community service to graduate.

Benizio had been a member of the Servite order. Raggi, façade of San Marcello. Under the main altar, decorated with 12th century opus sectile, are the relics of several saints, which include those of Pope Marcellus as well as Digna and Emerita. The last chapel on the left is dedicated to St Philip Benizi.

The church was commissioned by the Servite order. By 1233 they occupied a convent adjacent to this church. The site was ceded to the Franciscan order, who built the church we see today, and consecrated and dedicated it to St Francis (San Francesco) in 1359. The elaborate marble portal was built between 1356 and 1373.

Delazy grew up in a religious setting. She was raised by a single mother, who died in a car accident in 2008. In 2009, she matriculated from Domino Servite School. She played hockey for KwaZulu-Natal and won provincial awards for discus, but lost interests in both games after the death of her mother.

Moran attended Servite High School, where he was a starter at offensive tackle. He accepted a football scholarship from the University of Stanford. As a freshman, he was named the starter at left tackle, as part of an offensive line that protected quarterback John Elway. As a sophomore, he was moved to left guard.

In 1543, he became the cardinal protector of the Servite Order. From 1545 5o 1547, he was the papal legate to Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor. He also served as Camerlengo of the Sacred College of Cardinals from January 8, 1546 to January 7, 1547. On May 13, 1547, he became papal legate in the Campagne and Maritime Province.

The church of S. Sisino was built outside the town in the village of La Torre. A number of religious orders also settled in Mendrisio, including the Humiliati, the Servite Order, the Ursulines and the Capuchins. The Servites established a boys school in 1644 in the Convent of S. Giovanni. In 1852 that school became a cantonal secondary school.

Born in Ogden, Utah, Nye played football at Servite High School in Anaheim, California, and graduated in 1964. He accepted a football scholarship from Stanford University. As a sophomore in 1965, he played offensive tackle and also some snaps at defensive end. As a junior, he was moved to defensive tackle four days before the start of the season.

His body rests in the Servite church of Forlì, the Basilica of Saint Pellegrino Laziosi.Basilica of Saint Pellegrino Laziosi Pope Paul V declared him blessed in 1609 and Pope Benedict XIII canonized him in 1726. The liturgical feast of Saint Pellegrino/Peregrine is on May 1. Peregrine is considered the patron saint of those suffering from cancer.

The complex was built to replace Convent of the Servite founded as early as 1290 and later was suppressed in 1799. The new church was built in thanks for the ending a cholera epidemic, and dedicated to Saint Charles Borromeo who was the Bishop of Milan during the time of the bubonic plague in Milan during the 16th century.

The 1983 Code of Canon Law recognizes secular institutes as a form of consecrated life.Canons 710-730 They differ from religious institutes in that their members live their lives in the ordinary conditions of the world, either alone, in their families or in fraternal groups. They include, among others, Caritas Christi, The Grail, and the Servite Secular Institute.

A church at the site was erected in 1300, after plague decimated the neighborhood. In 1403, this church was nearly destroyed by an earthquake, and rebuilt at public expense. In 1756, the church was rebuilt anew by the Servite Order, using a design by the architect Pietro Carlo Borboni. The sober brick facade has doric columns.

In addition to developing this Marian devotion, the Franciscans are credited with adding the final words to the Hail Mary: Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners (from the writings of St. Bernardino of Siena) now and at the hour of our death (from the writings of the Servite Fathers and the Roman Breviary).

The beatification was celebrated on 11 March 2001 in Saint Peter's Square in which Ricart was beatified alongside 232 others; she is often identified as a member of that large group despite her cause having been initiated and conducted separate to the group. The current postulator for this cause is the Servite priest Franco M. Azzalli.

Antonio Maria Pucci (16 April 1819 - 12 January 1892) - born Eustachio Pucci - was an Italian Roman Catholic priest and a professed member from the Servite Order. He was beatified on 12 June 1952 under Pope Pius XII and was later made a saint on 9 December 1962 at the conclusion of the first session of the Second Vatican Council.

He died in 1310. Pope Boniface IX granted the Servites the power to confer theological degrees on 30 January 1398, and the order established the Marianum in Rome. Servite church in Innsbruck, Austria The new foundation enjoyed considerable growth in the following decades. Even in the thirteenth century there were houses of the order in Germany, France, and Spain.

The Servite Canciani took ninety-two of these formulæ of Cassiodorus and included them in his "Barbarorum leges antiquæ" (Venice, 1781, I, 19-56). # The Visigoths - " Formulæ Visigothicæ", a collection of the forty-Six formulæ made under King Sisebut (612-621). The king's name occurs twice in the curious formula xx, a dowry settlement in hexameter verse.

She immediately began to live as a consecrated person and began to draw up Constitutions for the proposed institute. The first gathering of other women drawn to this took place in 1952. Gradually the group established itself. In the 1960s connections were made with women in Germany and Italy who had a similar orientation in Servite spirituality.

This was probably largely financed by Ugolino III Trinci, the lord of Foligno. The church was modified in the 17th and 18th centuries. The earthquake of 1997 badly damaged the church; restoration of the church was finished in 2000. The Servite Order remained with a small presence in Foligno until 1994 but their convent had been closed in 1860.

De magisterio antiquorum philosophorum, 1684 Leonardo Cozzando (1620 in Rovato – 1702 in Rovato) was an Italian writer. When he was twelve he joined the Servite Order; in 1690 he became Provinciale of the Order. He wrote and published a number of erudite works on various subjects. His most relevant work was the Libraria Bresciana published in 1694.

Ottaviani was critical of the writings of the bed-ridden Italian mystic Maria Valtorta, who reported visions of Jesus and Mary. When the typed version of the 15,000 handwritten pages of Valtorta's notebooks was prepared by Romualdo Migliorini and Corrado Berti (both Servite priests), they sought Vatican guidance for procedural advice on presenting the reputed revelations to the proper ecclesiastical hierarchy, as the local bishop's (Fontevecchia) vision was fading. At the Vatican they encountered Monsignor Alphonso Carinci and Cardinal Augustin Bea, Pope Pius XII's confessor, who advised presenting the typed manuscript directly to Pope Pius XII, through a recommended intermediary, which was accomplished in 1947. Ten months later, Carinci and Bea facilitated a meeting between the Servite priests and Pope Pius XII and it was recorded in L'Osservatore Romano.

Donato Mascagni (1579–1636) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance active in Florence, Volterra, Rome, Mugello, and Salzburg. He was a pupil of Jacopo Ligozzi. He is also known as Fra or Frate Arsenio because he joined the Servite monastery in 1605. He however obtained special dispensation through cardinal Gerolamo Bernerio to move to Florence and become a priest in 1609.

In 1810, the church was deconsecrated under Napoleonic rule. The urn putatively containing St Helen's remains was putatively hidden in the Basilica of San Pietro in Castello,Fodor's Venice and the Venetian Arc, page 61. and the Renaissance portal of the church was transferred to the church of Sant'Aponal. Sant'Elena was reconsecrated in 1928 and granted to the Servite Order.

At 8:00am she appeared to be dozing off but opened her eyes and whispered her final words: "I see ... I see ... I see ...". Pope Leo XIII approved the order in a papal decree of 25 March 1902 and approved its Constitution on the following 14 December. The order later was added as a branch of the Servite Order in 1934.

Stephen James Kahn (born, December 14, 1983 in Fullerton, California) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. Kahn was drafted in the fifth round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft by the Seattle Mariners. Kahn attended Servite High School and then Loyola Marymount University prior to being drafted. He was signed by scouts Greg Whitworth, Dennis Gonsalves and Phil Pote.

Steve graduated from Servite High School (Anaheim, CA) in 1979. Steve and his wife Nancy currently reside in Arlington, Texas. They have five children. His eldest son Garrett played baseball for the University of Oklahoma and was drafted by the San Francisco Giants 14th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft, and his middle son Tanner played baseball for Fullerton College.

Inside of the chapel has busts of Muzio, Roberto, Lelio Frangipane by Alessandro Algardi (1630–40). In the third chapel on the left is a Doloroso by Pietro Paolo Naldini, Sacrifice of Isaac and discovery of Moses by Domenico Corvi; in the first, Madonna and seven Saints by Agostino Masucci. The church is administered and owned by the Servite Order since 1369.

He is a 1999 graduate of Servite High School, a Roman Catholic high school for boys, in Anaheim, California where he played on the same baseball team as former Indians teammate Ryan Garko. He later attended and played baseball at Cypress Junior College in 2000 and went on to play at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2001 through 2003.

Sister Joyce Rupp, O.S.M., is a Roman Catholic author and speaker. She is the co-director of The Institute of Compassionate Presence, a member of the Servite Order, and a volunteer for Hospice. Joyce has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, a Master of Arts degree in Transpersonal Psychology, and a Master of Religious Education degree. She lives in Des Moines, Iowa.

He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Johanna (McGarry) Rookey; and siblings, Rose, Chester, Gordon, Harold, Mary, Genevieve, Kathryn, Robert, Bernard, Dale, and Richard. He is survived by his brother, Earl; and numerous nieces, nephews and grand- nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday, September 13th, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 14th, 2014 from 3:00 p.m.

While attending Servite High School, Rullo was named an All-Sunset League player in 1993. Rullo completed his undergraduate school at the University of California, Berkeley. While there, Rullo played for the university's soccer team where he was a midfielder and co-captain. During the 1996 season, he scored the game-winning overtime goal during the team's upset victory over second ranked University of Washington.

When they left, they took with them the statue of the Addolorata.Guida Sacra della citta di Napoli per Gennaro Aspreno Galante, 1873, page 365-366. The church and the Servite order was attached to a form of Marian devotion centered around the sette dolori, which roughly translates to the seven sorrows, of the Maria Addolorata (Our Lady of Sorrows). These sorrows are roughly identified from scriptural interpretations.

Rzepczynski attended Servite High School in Anaheim, California and the University of California, Riverside, where he played college baseball for the Highlanders from 2004–2007. In his senior season, the Highlanders won the Big West Conference championship and appeared in the NCAA Tournament. He also played for the Corvallis Knights and the Bellingham Bells (2004) in the West Coast League, an independent summer collegiate league.

Blessed Costanza Starace (5 September 1845 – 13 September 1921) was an Italian Roman Catholic nun. She was the founder of the religious congregation known as the Compassionist Sisters Servants of Mary. Starace later assumed the new name of "Maria Maddalena of the Passion" upon the occasion of her solemn profession. She became a secular member of the Servite Order after she failed to join a religious order.

Pope Julius II made him a cardinal priest in the consistory of March 10, 1511. He received the red hat on March 13, 1511, and the titular church of San Vitale on March 17, 1511. A short time later, he became the cardinal protector of the Servite Order. From May 30, 1511 to March 13, 1521, he was the administrator of the see of Pavia.

The students are put into six priories (or factions): Annunziata (gold), Senario (black), San Clemente (green), St Mary (blue), Our Lady of Sorrows (purple) and St Anthony (red). Each played a role in the history of the Servite Order that was founded in Italy around 1200AD by the seven holy founders. They are further split into contact groups of about 25 students; each containing years 7-12.

Michael Rice earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1972 in Garden Grove, California. Rice attended Servite High School in Anaheim, California before attending the University of San Francisco, and graduating with a B.S. in Biology in 1977. While working in the laboratory of physiologist Grover C. Stephens at the University of California, Irvine, he earned both a master's degree in biology in 1981 and a PhD.

The oratory was moved near its original location, to the present site in 1909. At one time, the neighborhood had the name of borgata di San Rocco due to the oratory. The oratory was erected after the plague of 1501 ebbed in Spezzano. In 1605, the community ceded the adjacent house to the Servite order, for them to found a convent for some years.

McDonald was born in Fullerton, California. He graduated from St. Juliana Catholic Elementary School in Fullerton, and later went to Servite High School in Anaheim, California, and graduated from the University of Southern California with a business degree. After college, a friend took McDonald to see an improv comedy show at Groundling Theater. McDonald quit his job at the bank and enrolled in Groundling's improv program.

Pontius attended and played central midfield for Servite High School. He played club soccer with the Irvine Strikers. He played college soccer at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he was named Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2007, and Hermann Trophy candidate in 2008. In 2006, Pontius and the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos won the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship.

More recently it was the home of science fiction author Brian Aldiss. Begbroke Place was built in 1906. From 1940 it until 1984 the house was incorporated into the campus of St Juliana's Convent School, an independent girls' school run by the sisters of the Servite Order. Commuter homes were built in the village beginning in the 1930s, mainly on the east side of Woodstock Road.

Fresco of Bartolomeus Amidei (Saint Amadeus degli Amidei) Amadeus of the Amidei (died 1266) was also known as Bartolomeo degli Amidei. He was one of the seven founders of the Servite Order in 1233. He was born into the Amidei family in the Republic of Florence, and died at Monte Senario in 1266. His feast day is with the other six, on 17 February.

The spirituality of the Servite order is focused on contemplating Mary at the foot of the cross as a model for Christian life and service to the suffering. Moreover, because the order has Seven Holy Founders rather than one individual founder, there is a particular emphasis on the communal aspect of Christian life. This spirituality finds expression particularly in the Rosary of the Seven Sorrows.

A church on the site had been present since the Lombard era, but the present layout was designed by the architect Tommaso Martelli, and built between 1589 and 1633. The initial custodians of the church were priests of the Servite order. In 1798, the church and adjacent convent was suppressed by the Napoleonic Government. Till 1919, the street in front was known as Via del Poggiale.

The first list of books for grammar schools, for instance, was published in 1770. When the Jesuit order was suspended by Emperor Joseph II. in 1773, only 300 pupils attended the grammar school. Since replacing the Jesuit teachers was not easy, it took several years until the last former Jesuit teachers had left the school. They were primarily replaced by members of the Servite Order.

In 1961, St Anthony of Viareggio Church was bequeathed to the Servite Friars by a Mr Brown. It was originally a bungalow and was renovated when it became a church. A Fr Anselm Hislop OSM was in charge of the renovation and added the church tower. On 6 May 1963, St Anthony of Viareggio's Church was opened by the Archbishop of Southwark, Cyril Cowderoy.

Growing up in Tuart Hill, David went to Tuart Hill Primary School and Servite College for his education. He is a life member of the Tuart Hill Cricket Club, a board member of Tuart Hill Primary School, and a patron of the Osborne Park Bowling Club. David enjoys playing cricket when he can. He also passionately supports the Perth Wildcats, Fremantle Dockers and Claremont Tigers.

St. Brown attended Servite High School in Anaheim, California as a freshman before transferring to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. As a senior in 2017, he had 72 receptions for 1,320 yards and 20 touchdowns. A five star recruit, St. Brown committed to the University of Southern California (USC) to play college football. He played with future USC teammate JT Daniels at Mater Dei.

Any baptised person of any age or gender, who is willing to undertake the obligations stipulated by the order may be enrolled. These obligations are to wear the Black Scapular, to pray 15 minutes daily for the whole of the Servite order and the church (the Chaplet of Seven Sorrows is recommended) including at least one "Hail Mary", one "Hail Holy Queen", and if possible perform some work of mercy towards those suffering either bodily, spiritually, or mentally. The benefits of membership are in participation in the life of the Servite order as well as a share in all of their works and prayers and an opportunity to deepen one's understanding of the life of Christ and His mother."The Confraternity of Our Lady of Sorrows" published by the Order of Friar Servants of Mary in Chicago, IL There are other more, ethereal benefits, based on private revelations from various mystics.

Sarnelli became a tertiary of the Servite Order and wrote a book about the seven founding saints of the order. On 19 April 1897, Pope Leo XIII appointed him Metropolitan Archbishop of Naples, of which diocese he took possession on 11 July 1897. Shortly after becoming Archbishop of Naples, Sarnelli became ill and, on 2 January 1898, died and was buried in the Cemetery of Santa Maria del Pianto.

San Carlo al Corso is a neo-classic church in the center of Milan. The church is managed by the Servite Order. The church facade was designed in 1844 by Carlo Amati and was finished in 1847.The Architecture of Modern Italy, Volume I: The Challenge of Tradition 1750–1900 by Terry Kirk 2005 page 153 It then served as a model for the Chiesa Rotonda in San Bernardino, Switzerland, 1867.

Inglese wished to establish a religious congregation dedicated to the apostolate of Marian reparation. Bishop Tommaso Pio Boggiani recommended that she join the Servite sisters, known for their devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows. She joined the Servites as Sister Mary Dolores in 1911. She and foundress Mother Mary Elisa Andreoli revised the rule, making propagation of Communion of Reparation on the First Saturday of each month the congregation's main apostolate.

The building was reconsecrated in 1963 . In June 2014, the Bishop of Padua accepted the request of the Superior of the Order of Servants of Mary to be able to return to their historic church after 207 years of regency by the secular clergy.The Servite return to Padua after 207 years / Church / Home - The Defence of the People The delivery charge is on 6 September of the same year.

New York: Robert Appleton Company, 1911. 6 May 2013 From the 1230s on, Peter preached against heresy, and especially Catharism, which had many adherents in thirteenth-century Northern Italy. Pope Gregory IX appointed him General Inquisitor for northern Italy in 1234 and Peter evangelized nearly the whole of Italy, preaching in Rome, Florence, Bologna, Genoa, and Como. In 1243 he recommended the new Servite foundation to the pope for approval.

Immediately after her death she was honored as a saint. The Servite Order was approved by Pope Martin V in the year 1420. Pope Benedict XIII recognized the devotion long paid to her and granted the Servites permission to celebrate the feast of the Blessed Juliana. Pope Clement XII canonized her in the year 1737, and extended the celebration of her feast day (June 19) to the entire Church.

At around 1600, he began painting the "Life of St Hyacinth" for the Sienese church of Santo Spirito. These paintings show the innovative perspective and style of the Florentine Reformers Ludovico Cigoli Cigoli and Domenico Passignano Domenico Passignano. He continued to create paintings for churches throughout Italy, including Florence. At the Basilica della Santissima Annunziata di Firenze, he frescoed lunettes (1605–1608) illustrating events in the history of the Servite Order.

He was declared venerable in 1908, beatified by Pope Pius XI on 12 July 1925, and canonized by Pope John XXIII on 9 December 1962. (Also canonized with Eymard were Servite priest Anthony Mary Pucci (1819–92) and the Capuchin lay brother Francis Mary of Camporosso (1804–66). His feast day is celebrated in the Roman Catholic Church on 2 August. John Paul II named Eymard "Apostle of the Eucharist".

Our Lady of Sorrows Church is a Roman Catholic Parish church in Bognor Regis, West Sussex, England. It was built from 1881 to 1882 and designed by Joseph Stanislaus Hansom. It is situated on the corner of the High Street and Clarence Road, backing on to Albert Road, in the centre of the town. It was founded by the Servite Order and is a Grade II listed building.

A 19th-century tower house occupies the south west area of the bawn. The castle is in excellent condition having been recently restored and stands in the grounds of the imposing Servite Priory, a religious order based in the village. Benburb or Wingfield's Castle is a State Care Historic Monument in the townland of Benburb, in Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council area, at grid ref: H8146 5199.

The vicariate, which comprises the entire Region of Aisén (Aisén) in southern Chile, covers a territory of 109,865 km² and has 6 parishes. It is estimated than 79% of the inhabitants of the vicariate are Catholic.Aysén (Vicariate Apostolic) [Catholic-Hierarchy] This figure represents about 72,000 Catholics out of a total population of 90,000. The vicariate is entrusted to the priests of the Lombardo-Veneto province (Italy) of the Servite Order.

Pope Francis appointed Fisher as an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Detroit on November 23, 2016. On January 25, 2017, Fisher was consecrated as a bishop by Archbishop Allen Vigneron. Bishop Fisher chose as his episcopal motto Per Caritatem Servite Invicem, meaning "Out of love, place yourselves at one another’s service", from Galatians 5:13. Bishop Fisher currently serves as episcopal vicar and regional moderator for the Northeast Region of the Archdiocese of Detroit.

It was supported in its decisions by the Servite monk Paolo Sarpi, a sharp polemical writer who was nominated to be the Signoria's adviser on theology and canon law in 1606. The interdict was lifted after a year, when France intervened and proposed a formula of compromise. Venice was satisfied with reaffirming the principle that no citizen was superior to the normal processes of law. A new war occurred in the years 1613–1617.

In 1786, the convent was suppressed by the Bishop Ricci, but recruited again as a monastery by 1794. In 1810, the Napoleonic forces again suppressed the convent. The church was made into a parish until 1856, when the Servites briefly returned, only to be again suppressed in Pistoia this time by the Italian kingdom, turning the convent into barracks. The cloister retains 17th-century frescoes depicting the history of the Servite order.

Information technology is prominent; the Seven Holy Founders Centre gym and auditorium are the pride of the school. A state- of-the-art science block, completed in 2003, is the most recent addition. In spite of severe limitations on space, there are opportunities for sports both within the confines of the campus as well as at a large nearby public oval. Servite College’s participation in inter-school sports competitions has been very rewarding.

It was originally named Our Lady of the Seven Dolours, but this was later simplified to the present dedication, (which is equivalent in meaning to Our Lady of Sorrows). The church was consecrated by Cardinal Manning on 19 September 1875. From its beginning, when Roman Catholic parishes were being organised in the areas of Brompton, Fulham and Chelsea, the Servite Church was the most popular with the faithful, of whom crowds attended its services.

Pope Martin V asked Philip to go to Forlì and try to reconcile the divided city. According to certain sixteenth century legende of Philip Benizi the eighteen-year-old Peregrine Laziosi (Latiosi), the son of a Ghibelline leader, was among those abusive towards Philip. However Philip's meeting with the initially antagonistic Peregrine help the young man later decide to join the Servite order. Saint Peregrine was canonized by Pope Benedict XIII in 1726.

A small church at the site titled Santa Maria di Betlem was associated with a nearby convent of the Umiliati. In 1334, the property passed to an order of Servite nuns, who rebuilt the structures and dedicated the church to St Anne. It remained with this order until 1788, when the church was managed by Oratorian priests. By 1806, parts of the convent were used as a jail for women and an orphanage for boys.

Irvin is from Yorba Linda, California. He graduated from Servite High School in Anaheim, California. As a junior, he posted a 1.40 ERA. After graduating, he was drafted in the 29th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, but he did not sign. That summer, Irvin played for the Cowlitz Black Bears of the West Coast League, pitching to 5-1 record with a 2.56 ERA.

Upon the completion of the convent, Anna entered the community and took the Servite religious habit, along with the name Anna Juliana, in honor of the foundress of the Order. It was there that she died in 1621. Immediately after her death, devotion to Anna as a saint began to grow. In 1693 a process for her canonization was opened by the current Bishop of Brixen, Count Johann Franz von Khuen zu Liechtenberg,.

Elisabetta Picenardi (1428 - 19 February 1468) was an Italian Roman Catholic professed member of the Servite Order in its third order branch. Picenardi was born in Mantua into a noble family and, despite pressure to wed a nobleman, insisted instead on pursuing the religious path alongside her sister. Her beatification received ratification on 10 November 1804 after Pope Pius VII issued formal confirmation of her local 'cultus' - or popular devotion and following.

Parmigianino died of a fever in Casalmaggiore on 24 August 1540 at the age of 37 years. He is buried in the church of the Servite Friars "naked with a cross made of cypress wood on his chest". Among those closely influenced by Parmigianino were his cousin Girolamo Mazzuoli and Girolamo's son Alessandro Mazzuoli; Pomponeo Amidano; Giacomo Bertoia; and Francesco Borgani. Founded in 1874, it has been administered by the Servite fathers for its entire history. Ground was broken for the current building on June 17, 1890 and the church was dedicated on January 5, 1902. The Parish served an Irish and Italian congregation for many years. The sorrowful mother novena was a major devotion at the parish during the first half of the 20th century, drawing worshippers from across the country and reaching many more listeners by radio.

Besides the classrooms (referred to by the school as "general learning areas"), Servite College has a technology centre, a science block, an auditorium/lecture theatre seating over 200 persons, and a gymnasium. These areas do not have airconditioning. The central area of the campus is landscaped and offers opportunity for students to gather, converse and socialise. A large practical and creative arts centre is located in a separate building; here are found facilities for woodwork, cooking, drama and dance.

The devotion was brought to Puerto Rico in the early 1850s by the Servite Fathers. According to tradition, Philip Benizi (1233 – 1285) prayed to Mary for help in providing food for his friars, and subsequently found several baskets of provisions left at the door of the convent.

Begbroke Manor House was built in about 1700. In the 19th century it became part of the Priory of St Philip, which until 2000 was the novitiate house for the Roman Catholic Servite Friars in England. It was then sold to a Church of England order of nuns, the Community of St John Baptist. The brethren of the Servites were well known in the village and served as Air Raid Precautions (ARP) wardens in World War II.

The College began in 1930, when summer extension courses were conducted in Ladysmith for the Servants of Mary (Servite Sisters) by Eau Claire State Teachers College (now University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire). In 1952, courses were expanded to a junior college affiliated with the College of St. Scholastica. Ten years later, the Servants of Mary established Mount Senario College as a four-year college. Enrollment was open to the public and emphasis was placed on teacher training.

In 2007 Servite implemented a student leadership program by dividing the student body into 8 student-led communities called "Priories" and 48 smaller student-led homeroom communities. Each week a block period is dedicated to student-led leadership activities. The Priories are based on the Seven Holy Founders, and St. Philip Benizi. The school is known for its academic curriculum, sports tradition, performing and visual fine arts programs (including courses in classical guitar and jazz band).

The fasts of the order are Advent, Lent, and the vigils of certain feasts. All offices in the order are elective and continue for three years, except that of general and assistant-generals which are for six years. Canonized Servite saints are: St. Philip Benizi (feast day on 23 August), St. Peregrine Laziosi (4 May), St. Juliana Falconieri (19 June). The seven founders of the order were canonized in 1888, and have a common feast day on 17 February.

Garretson attended Servite High School in Anaheim, California, where he played basketball and football. He then earned an Associate of Arts degree from Golden West Junior College. Before joining the NBA as a referee, he spent two years officiating high school games in Arizona and two more in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). In a game during the 1995–96 season, Garretson was involved in an on- court incident with Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Van Exel.

The village is also home to the impressive Benburb Castle built in 1611 by Sir Richard Wingfield on the ruins of a military fortification constructed by Prince Shane O'Neill, circa 1558, at the base of a limestone cliff overlooking the River Blackwater, the border between County Tyrone and County Armagh. The castle is in excellent condition having been recently restored and stands in the grounds of the imposing Servite Priory, a religious order based in the village.

The order of Servites or the order of servants of the Virgin Mary was created in the 13th century and their goal was unlimited respect to the Virgin Mary. According to tradition the apparition happened in 1233 on the day of Ascension. The apparition influenced the seven Florentines who gave up their existing lives and went to Monte Senario where they founded a monastery. The Servite Order showed up in Prague for the first time in 1360.

Also in 1999, Garko played for the USA Baseball Junior National Team. He holds numerous records at Servite High School, including the single-season records in, triples (6), home runs (8), RBIs (52), and the career records in, games played (101), at-bats (314), hits (149), triples (19), home runs (24), RBIs (121), and walks (80). He was also the starting quarterback on the football team for two years. In the classroom, Garko had a 4.2 GPA.

Jeffrey Belloli (born February 10, 1970) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. He grew up in Southern California and attended Servite High School. He and his fraternal twin brother Chris are the only children of Cal State chemistry professor Robert and his wife Shirley. Prior to his career in professional tennis, Belloli played for San Diego State University in collegiate competition, where he earned NCAA All-American honors for doubles in 1991 and 1992.

The church has a close relationship with the nearby St Joseph's Catholic Primary School.School from St Joseph's Catholic Church, retrieved 1 May 2013 St Joseph's is the only Catholic school in Dorking and was founded alongside the church in 1873, also by the Duchess of Norfolk. In 1887, a group of Servite Nuns ran the school and continued to do so until 1970. In that year the school moved to its present site on Norfolk Road.

Devotional prayers that consist of meditation began to elaborate on her Seven Sorrows based on the prophecy of Simeon. Common examples of piety under this title are Servite rosary or the Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows of Our Lady, the Seven Joys of Mary, and, more recently, Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. The feast of Our Lady of Sorrows is liturgically celebrated every 15 September, while a feast of Friday of Sorrows is observed in some Catholic countries.

He was ordained to the priesthood on 19 September 1885 in London. He served as Master of novices from 1890 until 1892 and was a faculty member of Pontifical Urbanian Athenaeum "De Propaganda Fide," from 1892 until 1913. He served as Rector of the Servite College, Rome from 1895 until 1913 and was General Procurator of his order in 1901. He was appointed Apostolic visitor and delegate to Scotland by Pope Pius X and was in Scotland from 1912-1913.

After her death there was no-one to stop its decline, and stones and timber were taken and used to erect a Servite Order convent on nearby . Under the Beroldigers the first safety measures to preserve the ruins were carried out. These were completed under Oswald von Seilern. From 2003 to 2004 the Aggstein Castle Restoration project was set up with funding from the federal state of Lower Austria and the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF) totaling €49,630.00.

255-274 In Florence, Leonardo lived at premises of the Servite Community, and at that time drew the large cartoon for the Madonna and Child and St Anne, which attracted a lot of popular attention. He is also reported to have had a job to do for King Louis XII of France. Between 1506 and 1513 Leonardo was once again based mostly in Milan. In 1507 Francesco Melzi joined his household as an apprentice, and remained with him until his death.

There are multiple religious orders in the area including the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon, the Servite Order, and the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist. The Grotto is a monastery on Rocky Butte that is known for their elaborate Christmas light displays. The Archdiocese operates ten High Schools, six of which are located in the Portland area. Central Catholic High School, De La Salle North Catholic High School, Jesuit High School, La Salle High School, St. Mary's Academy, and Valley Catholic School.

Sullivan was born in Perth, Western Australia, where he attended Servite College. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Politics from Curtin University of Technology (1977) and a Diploma of Education from University of Western Australia (1978). Between 1987 and 1988 Sullivan travelled to Chicago with his wife and daughter where he received a Master of Arts at Loyola University Chicago (1988). Francis later returned to Australia, residing in Canberra, alongside his wife and three children Clare, Camille and Timothy.

Calcium deposits on a waterfall at Bagni San Filippo Bagni San Filippo is an area in the municipality of Castiglione d'Orcia in the Province of Siena, Italy, not far from Monte Amiata. It is a small hot spring containing calcium carbonate deposits, which form white concretions and waterfalls. The name derives from that of St Philip Benizi, who was a prior of the Servite order, and who lived as a hermit here in the thirteenth century. The grotto is open to visitors.

Museums in Florence, entry on Annunziata. The painting now housed in the church, acquired increasing veneration, such that in 1444 the Gonzaga family from Mantua financed a special tribune. Initially Michelozzo, who was the brother of the Servite prior, was commissioned to build it, but since Ludovico III Gonzaga had a special admiration for Leon Battista Alberti, this latter architect was given the commission in 1469. Alberti's designs were constricted by the pre-existing foundations. Construction was completed in 1481, after Alberti’s death.

During the siege of the city in 1503, the bell-tower was destroyed. In the 1600s, the church underwent reconstruction with the present brick facade. Main Portal In 1922, the church changed from San Francesco to become the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie, when the venerated image of Vergine delle Grazie, was moved here from the Servite church. The church has funeral monument for the Beata Michelina Metelli (died 1356), commissioned by Pandolfo II Malatesta after he was rescued from a shipwreck.

Andrea Bertoni was born in Faenza to poor parents in 1454. He often frequented the churches in his area during his childhood and possessed an ardent devotion to the Mass. He joined the Servite Order in 1453 at the tender age of nine and was later ordained to the priesthood following the successful completion of his theological and philosophical studies that were required for ordination. He was made the procurator of his convent in Faenza from the appointment until his death.

A church of this name is documented since 1146. The structure changed over the centuries, and in 1406, it was ceded to the Servite order, who gained the privilege of baptism, and by the 1450s had built the cloister adjacent to the church. In the 17th century a new church was completed with a dome of the main chapel completed 1608–1612. In 1734–1736, Alfonso Torreggiani performed an extensive refurbishment, adding the external portico that obscures half of the facade.

Kiki Mendoza served as the football coach at St. John Bosco High School for 12 years until 2010 when he was fired after the team did not make the playoffs. He was replaced by Jason Negro. Eric Sondheimer of the Los Angeles Times criticized the firing of Mendoza, stating "Yes, the Braves had trouble finishing in the upper echelon of the brutally tough Trinity League that includes Santa Ana Mater Dei, Anaheim Servite and Orange Lutheran, but who wouldn't?"Sondheimer, Eric.

Ms Justine McDonald took on the headship in January 2016. The previous headteacher was Mrs Jane Gray who had taken over from Mrs Margaret Dixon in 2004 who served as headteacher from 1994-2003. Mrs Dixon was the first lay head teacher of the school. With the retirement of Sister John, the last Servite head teacher, and the deputy Sr Sheila Sumner, the daily presence of the Trustees has gone, but these serve as Foundation Governors on the Governing Body.

Bonaventura Tornielli (1411 - 31 March 1491) was an Italian Roman Catholic priest and a professed member from the Servite Order. Tornielli was born into a noble household and was a noted preacher in which he visited numerous Italian cities such as Florence and Perugia - Pope Sixtus IV held him in high esteem and even named him the "Apostolic Preacher". He also held various positions of leadership within his order. His beatification was approved under Pope Pius X on 6 September 1911.

St Joseph's School is a public co-educational school in rural Eswatini. The school is located on a Catholic mission complex run by the Servite Order (Order of Servants of Mary). The postal address of the school is Mzimpofu; however Mzimpofu is the simply the name of the post office at the mission and not that of an actual city or village. St Joseph's is well known in Eswatini for integrating the education of students with disabilities with normally- abled students.

The site on which the church was built in 1402 was originally the site of an old hospice, dedicated to St. James, as attested in a document of Pope Innocent III in 1210. The hospice and its chapel were passed on the Servite Order by bishop Paperone de' Paperoni in 1273. They transformed the main hall of the hospice into a church. The present church was built in 1402 under Prior Filippo di Massiolo da Foligno, incorporating the older church at its crossing.

Benincasa da Montepulciano (1375 - 9 May 1426) was an Italian Roman Catholic professed religious from the Servite Order. He lived as a hermit in Siena his entire life since he joined the order as a teenager and dedicated himself to a quiet life of servitude to God in contemplation despite still receiving visitors and orders from his superiors. His beatification received formal confirmation on 23 December 1829 once Pope Pius VIII issued formal approval to the late friar's enduring and local 'cultus' - or popular veneration.

Servite Father Lawrence Martin Jenco (27 November 1934 – 19 July 1996), a native of Joliet, Illinois, United States, was an American Catholic priest famous for being held hostage in Beirut, Lebanon by Islamic radicals. He was held for 564 days before being released and allowed to return to the U.S. He died in the rectory of St.Domitilla Church in Hillside, Illinois, of cancer, in 1996. He is buried in The Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois. See his final resting place in FindaGrave.

He was of noble parentage, being the brother of Count Dotto Dotti. Andrea grew up as many other noblemen of his time, but was distinguished for piety as well as for courage in the field. He was made captain of the archers of the body-guard of Philip the Fair. In 1278 Philip Beniti delivered a sermon at the opening of the general chapter of his order in Borgo, and young Dotti was so struck that he at once asked to be admitted to the Servite Order.

From that time on Altlandsberg remained with Brandenburg. The city was laid out at the behest of the Ascanian rulers, their successor Margrave Louis I from the Bavarian House of Wittelsbach even established a monastery of the Servite Order in 1335, which was dissolved during the Protestant Reformation. Altlandsberg was devastated by the Hussites in 1432, it was affected by several town fires and plague epidemics in the 16th century. The medieval town was burnt down completely in 1632 during the Thirty Years' War.

Haydn reencountered his mass in 1805.Jones (2009:16-17) In the meantime, he had experienced an illustrious career, but after about 1802 illness had reduced him to an invalid, unable to compose. The copy of the mass that was brought to his attention was in the Servite monastery in the Viennese suburb of Rossau.Gotwals (1968:244) Haydn recognized the work as his own and wrote on the organ part, "di me Giuseppe Haydn mpri 1749" ("by me, Joseph Haydn, in my own hand 1749").

St. Philip's Priory situated on New London Road in Chelmsford, Essex, UK is a Premonstratensian priory of canons regular. It is dedicated to Our Lady Queen of Sorrows and St. Philip Benizi. The site was formerly a private house, but was brought by Mr. Henry Shepperd in 1927 for the purpose of installing a community of Servite nuns. The priory and its chapel was solemnly blessed and opened on 15 September 1927, the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, by Arthur Doubleday, Bishop of Brentwood.

On September 16, 1638, Emperor Ferdinand III allowed the Servite Order to found a monastery in Vienna. Inspired by Italian architect Andrea Palladio, the church of the Servites was built by Martin Carlone and dedicated to the Annunciation to the Virgin. The foundation stone was laid on November 11, 1651 and the church was consecrated in 1670 though the interior decoration was completed later. The most important work of art in the church is the "Pietà" at the altar of Our Lady of Sorrows.

Rosary Academy is a Roman Catholic all-girls college-preparatory high school located in Fullerton, California, United States. Owned and operated by the Diocese of Orange, it is accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and is a member of the National Catholic Educational Association. Rosary's brother school is Servite High School and its sister school is Cornelia Connelly High School. Rosary offers a needs-based scholarship program as well as scholarships in various areas to incoming freshman students.

In 1411, a shrine with a statue of the Virgin was converted by the locals into a chapel called Santa Maria d'Ognibene (Holy Mary of all gifts). After the plague of 1516, the chapel and statue became a convent and church run by the Servite Order. In 1597, the cardinal Alfonso Carafa made this into a parish church, which was then briefly attached to the Congregation of Pii Operari, which had been started by Carlo Carafa. It was retransferred to the Servites, and remained so till 1809, till the monks were expelled.

After a year in Chicago, Johnson worked in a Hospital Chaplaincy summer training at Metropolitan State Psychiatric Hospital in southern Los Angeles; that summer, he came out as a gay man. Johnson viewed this summer of 1969 an auspicious one because of the Stonewall riot events which sparked the modern LGBT social movements. Johnson did not return to Catholic Theological Union, but remained in Southern California at the Servite novitiate in Riverside. As told in his first book, The Myth of the Great Secret, Johnson experienced a dramatic kind of modern "mystical enlightenment" that year.

Cumann Naomh Peregrine is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Clonsilla, Fingal, Ireland. It was founded in 1978 when a group of local people got together with Fr. Joe Madden of the Servite Order and decided to form a GAA Club of their own. The Club caters for a range of age groups from 4 years upwards in the parishes of Hartstown, Huntstown, Porterstown, Blakestown and Mountview. St Peregrines boast one of the finest clubhouses in the country in addition to a 500-seater spectator stand, a gym, astro turf and sports hall.

Giovanni Montorsoli was born in 1507 at Montorsoli, now in the comune of Vaglia, north of Florence, the son of Michele d'Angelo da Poggibonsi. From 1521 to 1534 he was employed as an assistant to Michelangelo Buonarroti at the Medici Chapel (Sacrestia Nuova) and in the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana at the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Florence. Montorsoli is known to have sculpted St. Cosmas with another of Michelangelo's assistants, Raffaello da Montelupo, after a model by the master. He became a friar of the Servite Order, but continued to work as a sculptor.

It was founded in 1346, as the church of the Servite Community of the Blessed Virgin Mary and was designed by Andrea da Faenza, a head friar and architect who also assisted Antonio di Vincenzo on the monumental Basilica of San Petronio. In the 20th century, Pope Pius XII granted the church the status of "basilica".

The Eastbank area was developed in the 1960s, and Paterson was built in the 1970s, to accommodate the village's growing population, it is situated in the north of the village. Dorward Place was re-developed (completion 1997) from an old Farm Site (An Aerial photograph of the original site is hung in the housing complex) and consists only of sheltered servite housing. Westbank was originally farms but was transformed into houses in 2001. Rosamunde Pilcher Drive is located in this estate, and is named after the bestselling author Rosamunde Pilcher who lives in Longforgan.

Dolorosa, Murillo The pious practice of honoring the Blessed Mother on Saturday is an ancient custom largely attributed to the Benedictine monk Alcuin (735-804), "Minister of Education" at the court of Charlemagne, who composed a Votive Mass formulary for each day of the week. Alcuin assigned two formularies to Saturday in honor of Our Lady. The practice was quickly embraced by both clergy and laity. The practice of reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the First Saturday was initiated in Rovigo, Italy, by Mary Inglese, a Servite tertiary in 1889.

Santa Maria dei Servi, or simply known as the Chiesa dei Servi, or more fully as the Church of the Nativity of the Servants of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a 14th-century, Roman Catholic church that faces the Via Roma (once Sant’Egidio) in Padua, region of the Veneto, Italy. This is the parish church in the vicariate of the Cathedral Basilica of Santa Maria AssuntaParish Servants in PD - Nativity ' of B.V. Mary, on diocesipadova.it. He was born in Modena, and studied with Salvatore Essenga, a Servite monk there. In addition he prepared for holy orders with early education at the Benedictine monastery, and took holy orders sometime before 1577. By the end of the 1570s he was well-connected with the composers of the Venetian school (for example Claudio Merulo and Giovanni Gabrieli) since he collaborated with them in writing a sestina for a ducal marriage. During this period he accompanied Count Baldassare Rangoni on his travels, going to Bergamo and Brescia.

The college was named after Monte Senario, the birthplace of the Servite Order, near Florence, Italy. In 1963, it received approval for certification of elementary teachers by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction; approval for secondary certification was received in 1965. Mount Senario College became a non-sectarian institution in 1972, when a plan for the reorganization of the school was adopted by the board of trustees and approved by the Servants of Mary. The college was granted academic accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in 1975.

Eustace Pucci was born on 16 April 1819 to a poor sacristan as the second of seven children. He felt called to life in a religious order in his childhood but his father opposed this despite his own career as a church worker. Overcoming this opposition later allowed him to enter the Servite Order in 1837 (at Santissima Annunziata) at which time he was given the religious name of "Antonio Maria". He was ordained to the priesthood in 1843 after having made his profession into the order a few months prior.

Early in the fourteenth century the order had more than one hundred convents including branch houses in Hungary, Bohemia, Austria, Poland, and Belgium; there were also missions in Crete, the Philippines (St. Peregrine-Philippine Vicariate), and India. The disturbances during the Protestant Reformation caused the loss of many Servite convents in Germany, but in the south of France the order met with much success. The Convent of Santa Maria in Via (1563) was the second house of the order established in Rome; San Marcello al Corso had been founded in 1369.

Andrea Bertoni (1454 - 25 May 1483) was an Italian Roman Catholic priest and a professed member of the Servite Order. Bertoni assumed the religious name of "Giacomo Filippo" upon being admitted to the Servites and he became the procurator of the convent he lived in from his appointment until his death. The approval of the late priest's "cultus" (or popular devotion) on 22 July 1761 acted as Pope Clement XIII's conferral of beatification upon the late priest while the town of Faenza - where Bertoni hailed from - appointed him as its patron in 1762.

When the nearby church of El Salvador was destroyed in 1842, this church gained its former status as a parish church. In the year 1891 the parish was relocated to a church that had been Anton Martin Hospital in Atocha street, today the Parish of San Nicolas and San Salvador, leaving the old building as the church of "St. Nicholas of the Servites", a name derived from the Servite Order, which still owns it. At the end of century profile interventions have been implemented, the main one being held in 1983.

Over the centuries, a number of Marian movements and societies have been consecrated to the Virgin Mary, e.g.

Anna was raised in a strict Catholic environment. Even as Holy Roman Empress, when she believed that she had committed a sin, she engaged in self-flagellation to torment the flesh. Anna Caterina made frequent pilgrimages, but didn't take her daughters with her due to their poor health. In 1606, she decided to found a convent there in Innsbruck for the Servants of Mary, Religious Sisters of the Servite Third Order, of which she was a member, and after arranging the marriage of her youngest daughter, she took her monastic vows, taking a new name – Anna Juliana.

Two days after the wedding the newlyweds and guests took part in a liturgy at the convent of the Servants of Mary, Religious Sisters of the Servite Third Order in honor of the foundress, sister Anna Juliana Gonzaga, Dowager Archduchess- Countess of Tyrol (another Eleonora's aunt), who died a year before. Two days later, Eleonora's relatives received gifts from the Emperor and left for Mantua, and the next day the Imperial couple went to Vienna.Braun, Keller, Schnettger 2016, p. 123. In spite of the great age difference between them, Eleonora and Ferdinand II had a happy marriage.

In 2009, De La Salle defeated Crenshaw 28-14 to win the state title again. In 2010, De La Salle defeated Servite, ranked #7 in the nation, 48-8, to win the state title game for a second straight year. De La Salle finished the season 14-0 and ranked #1 in the nation by Maxpreps. During the span of the 151-game winning streak, De La Salle was named national champion in seven different years; once by ESPN (1994), five times by USA Today (1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003), and once by the National Sports News Service (1999).

He assumed as his episcopal motto: Servite Domino In Laetitia, meaning, "I will serve God cheerfully." Power was later named the seventh Archbishop of Portland in Oregon on January 15, 1974, being formally installed on April 17 in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. During his tenure in Portland, he formed a five-year plan for the Archdiocese and ensured its financial stability by establishing an endowment fund. Power founded the Oregon Catholic Conference, held the first clergy and archdiocesan conventions, and reorganized the local curia, Catholic Charities, and Catholic Truth Society of Oregon, which was renamed the Oregon Catholic Press.

Five scenes from his life were painted in the early 16th century by the Florentine Andrea del Sarto: "His Charity to a Leper", "The Smiting of the Blasphemers", "The Cure of the Woman Possessed with a Devil", "The Resurrection of a Child before the bier of the Saint", and "The Veneration of his Relics". These appear in the atrium of the Servite church of the SS. Annunziata, Florence. There is a statue of him on the Charles Bridge in Prague, Czech Republic. Designed in 1714, this statue was made from Salzburg marble and donated by the Servites convent in Prague.

This scapular is the symbol of the Confraternity of Our Lady of Sorrows, a body of the Catholic faithful associated with the Servite Order. She was > daily caring for the sick in the streets, homes, and in hospitals and was > known for using her own lips to suck out the infection of her patients open > sores without fear of contracting any illness. Truly a magnificent act. > Juliana directed the community of Servite Tertiaries for 35 years and was > more of a servant to her subordinates than a mistress. A putative miracle mentioned in the liturgical texts for her feast day, is said to have occurred at Juliana's death.

The influence exerted on his countrymen by Falconieri and his companions may be gathered from the fact that in a few years ten thousand persons had enrolled themselves under the banner of the Blessed Virgin in the Servite Order. He died in Monte Senario at about 110 years of age on 17 February 1310. His shrine and entombed body is near the church of the Santissima Annunziata in Florence. Clement XI declared Falconieri worthy of the veneration of the faithful, 1 December 1717, and accorded the same honour to his six companions on 3 July 1725.

Ceiling in the Servite mother church, Santissima Annunziata, Florence In common with all religious orders strictly so called, the Servites make solemn vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. The particular object of the order is to sanctify first its own members, and then all men through devotion to the Mother of God, especially in her desolation during the Passion of her Divine Son. The Servites give missions, have the care of souls, or teach in higher institutions of learning. The Rosary of the Seven Dolors is one of their devotions, as is also the Via Matris.

The Pontifical institute Marianum which is now one of the leading centers of Mariology traces its roots to the Servite Order. In 1398 Pope Boniface IX granted the order the right to confer theological degrees; in 1895 the school reopened under the name Sant Alessio Falcioneri. In 1939 Father Gabriel Roschini OSM founded the journal Marianum and directed it for thirty years. In 1950, he founded the Marianum Theological Faculty, which, on 8 December 1955, became a Pontifical faculty by Decree Coelesti Honorandae Reginae of the Sacred Congregation of Seminaries and Universities under the authority of Pope Pius XII.

There has been a long and strong relationship for the past 98 years with the Carmelite Sisters on Harrison Street who at that time (1914) ran an orphanage for young ladies that later was transformed into a Carmelite Day Nursery. The Third Order of St. Francis was established in the parish in 1921. In the presence of Archbishop Neil McNeil over 500 were received into the order. The parish remained under the pastoral care of the diocesan clergy of the Archdiocese of Toronto until 1957 when the Servite Order was asked to assume the administration of St. Francis of Assisi.

The Trinity League is the latest iteration of what was originally known as the Angelus League (1961–1991), founded in 1961. There were various early members of the Angelus league, which, in addition to Servite and Mater Dei, included St. Paul, Cantwell and Salesian. Cantwell and Salesian dropped out of the league, due to its competitiveness, and were replaced by St. John Bosco and Verbum Dei. In the late 1960s, St. John Bosco and Verbum Dei dropped out and were replaced by Bishop Amat and Pius X. This iteration became the core, blue blood members of the Angelus League.

A.J. Gass (born November 29, 1975) is a former Canadian football linebacker. He played his entire 10-year professional career with the Canadian Football League's Edmonton Eskimos. Gass attended Servite High School and was the defensive MVP of the Sunset League, All CIF Southern Section and All State defensive back in 1992. Gass attended Fresno State University and was an all- conference first-team linebacker in 1996 and 1997, leading the conference in tackles in 1996 with 150. Gass went undrafted in the National Football League and, on May 21, 1998, signed with the Eskimos as a free agent.

Eddie Doherty was born in Chicago in 1890 to Police Lieutenant Edward Doherty and Ellen Rodgers. He was the eldest of ten children in the Irish Catholic family. At the age of 13 he entered a Servite monastery in Wisconsin. After two years he left the seminary, returned to Chicago, and went to work at the City Press.Hollingsworth, Gerelyn, "On this day: Eddie Doherty", National Catholic Reporter, May 4, 2011 Starting as a newspaper copy boy, Doherty worked at various other Chicago newspapers, including the Examiner, the Record-Herald, the Tribune, the Herald, and the American.

Maria Theresa Ziadie was born in Jamaica and attended Servite Convent in Brown's Town. From the age of four, she was interested in flight, but after completing her secondary education, Ziadie pursued a college education in psychology at a Canadian University. Taking a year off, she joined Air Jamaica as a stewardess and while attending an employment seminar on flying decided to change the direction of her career choice. She enrolled in a pilot training course with Wings Jamaica and obtained her private pilot's license in February 1978, after passing the examination of Civil Aviation Authority of London.

In 1468-69 he frescoed with Stories of the Virgin the Mazzatosta Chapel in the Servite Church of Santa Maria della Verità in Viterbo: the Marriage of the Virgin is an extraordinary, animated portrait of notable contemporary citizens of Viterbo. The frescoes were nearly destroyed during World War II, and have been painstakingly restored. Lorenzo was in Florence in 1473: his protector, the Sienese Cardinal Jacopo Ammannati Piccolomini, recommended the artist to Lorenzo il Magnifico in a letter written from his villa in Monsindoli in the vicinity of Siena. The Academy of Fine Arts of Viterbo is named after the painter.

He underwent his theological and philosophical studies (and also learnt civil and canon law) and was ordained to the priesthood upon the completion of his studies on 2 March 1844. In 1851 he was sent to Bologna to the troubled parish of Galeazza Pepoli - as a sign of the archdiocese's esteem for his tremendous work he was appointed as the parochial vicar of that parish. He was later professed as a Secular Servite in 1855. In 1867 he lost his voice and was forced to write out homilies and addresses and have others deliver them for him.

Coppo is now widely accepted as the first to employ the angled throne in the representation of the Virgin and Child. The clothing, different than the traditional Byzantine art style, is of northern origin and perhaps is the first time to be used in Tuscan painting. Seen as well for the first time in Tuscan painting are a number of iconographic features. The Child’s bare arms and feet, the gesture of the Virgin’s touch to her child’s right foot, the sash of the Child’s garments, and the fabric on which the Child sits are all linked to Christ’s Passion and to the Virgin, themes very important to the Servite patrons.

It is said that he miraculously multiplied grain and wine during a severe shortage in his area. People took to calling him the "Angel of Good Counsel", so grateful were they for his wise advice so freely given.

The oldest extant large scale Florentine pictorial project is the mosaic decoration of the interior of the dome of the Baptistery of St John, which began around 1225. Although Venentian artists were involved in the project, the Tuscan artists created expressive, lively scenes, showing emotional content unlike the prevailing Byzantine tradition. Coppo di Marcovaldo is said to have been responsible for the central figure of Christ and is the earliest Florentine artist involved in the project. Like the panels of the Virgin and Child painted for the Servite churches in Siena and Orvieto, sometimes attributed to Coppo, the Christ figure has a sense of volume.

Montorsoli was instrumental in the foundation in 1562–63 of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno, which was the academy of art and of artists in Florence until 1784, and which at first met in the Servite church of the Santissima Annunziata where Montorsoli had worked on the decorations of the "Cappella dei Pittori", in which the order had given permission for artists to be buried. The Accademia was formed under the patronage of Cosimo I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany and with the support of Giorgio Vasari. The first meeting was held on 13 January 1563. Montorsoli died on 31 August of the same year.

Around the 13th century during the rise of the medieval towns and cities the mendicant orders developed. While the monastic foundations were rural institutions marked by a retreat from secular society, the mendicants were urban foundations organized to engage secular city life and to meet some of its needs such as education and service to the poor. The five primary mendicant religious Order of the 13th century are the Order of Friars Preachers (the Dominicans), Order of Friars Minor (the Franciscans), Order of the Servants of Mary (Servite Order), Order of St. Augustine (Augustinians) and the Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (the Carmelites).

He was appointed to the influential churches of St Gabriels, Cricklewood and the Servite Priory, Fulham, where he presided over a new instrument by Grant, Degens & Bradbeer. It is typical of him that, having been appointed, he refused to take up the position in Fulham until the new organ had been completed. Latterly, he was one of the organists at Holy Trinity Sloane Street, where his colourfully expansive playing could be heard in central London each week in the years after 1987. He found a permanent niche as organist to the BBC Symphony Orchestra and consequently played the organ for twenty-nine Last Nights of the Proms.

He was employed as organist at the Florentine monastery of Santa Trinità in 1361, and at the church of San Lorenzo from 1365 onward. He was heavily involved in the political and religious controversies of his day, according to Villani, but he seems to have remained in the good graces of the Florentine authorities. Landini knew many of the other Italian composers of the Trecento, including Lorenzo da Firenze, with whom he was associated at Santa Trinità, as well as Andreas da Florentia, whom he knew in the 1370s. Around or shortly after 1375, Andreas hired him as a consultant to help build the organ at the Servite house in Florence.

There are two primary schools in Tuart Hill, the public Tuart Hill Primary School and the private St Kieran Catholic Primary School. Tuart Hill Primary School is heritage listed, having opened in 1910 as the Grenville State School. Servite College, a Catholic high school, is the only high school in Tuart Hill. Tuart Hill Senior High School once existed but was closed in the early 1980s to become Tuart College, a senior college run by the Western Australian Education Department, offering a number of courses such as a year 12 TEE program for students wanting to enter tertiary education, adult learning classes, or English language courses.

These men are known as the Seven Holy Founders; they were canonized by Pope Leo XIII in 1888."History of the Servite Order", The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother These seven were: Buonfiglio dei Monaldi (Bonfilius), Giovanni di Buonagiunta (Bonajuncta), Amadeus of the Amidei (Bartolomeus), Ricovero dei Lippi-Ugguccioni (Hugh), Benedetto dell' Antella (Manettus), Gherardino di Sostegno (Sostene), and Alessio de' Falconieri (Alexius). They belonged to seven patrician families of that city. As a reflection of the penitential spirit of the times, it had been the custom of these men to meet regularly as members of a religious society established in honor of Mary, the Mother of God.

Monks of the Servite Order founded Bognor Regis's Church of Our Lady of Sorrows in 1881. Protestant Nonconformism—a strong force in Sussex since the 17th century—continues to thrive. Baptists, Methodists, the United Reformed Church, Plymouth Brethren, Quakers and other denominations are represented in the main towns and in some cases the smaller villages: for example, Baptists have met at Walberton since the 1840s and Methodists at Westergate since 1851. Congregationalists—predecessors of the current United Reformed denomination—found success in Arundel, where their chapel of 1838 (now a market) thrived until the late 20th century and established daughter churches in nearby villages such as Yapton.

Santa Maria del Pianto is a late-Baroque-style, Roman Catholic church in Venice, Italy. This dilapidated octagonal church in a forgotten corner of Venice was designed by Baldassare Longhena, and appears inspired by Longhena's Santa Maria della Salute on the Grand Canal, Venice. A church and monastery were begun in 1647, after a Senate decree from 1646 as an ex voto for outcomes in the war against the Ottomans. The Servite nunnery, called the Cappuccine delle Fondamenta Nuove, and observing a cloistered Augustinian rule, was complete by 1658, and the church was consecrated in 1687 to St Mary of the Tearful and St Joseph.

Bonaventura Tornielli was born in 1411 in Forlì to the nobleman Giacomo Tornielli. Tornielli enlisted into the Servite Order in 1448 where he became noted as a biblical expert and was later ordained as a priest. He completed his studies in Venice in 1454 after having started in 1448 and earned his master's degree in his theological studies - even at this stage he was reported to be small and thin and haggard in appearance. He became noted for his love of contemplative silence in which to meditate on the Gospel while also preaching sermons and missions in the Papal States and in other Italian cities all on the subject of repentance.

San Pellegrino University Foundation The San Pellegrino University Foundation (also referred to as FUSP or San Pellegrino) was established in 2010. It owes its academic heritage to the Servite Order which in 1973 founded the Liceo Linguistico San Pellegrino (the San Pellegrino High School specialising in foreign languages) and in 1987 founded the Scuola Superiore per Interpreti e Traduttori (School for Translators and Interpreters). Founding members of FUSP are the Order of the Servants of Mary, the Municipality of Misano Adriatico and the Nida Institute for Biblical Scholarship of New York. New partners include the Gruppo Maggioli (since 2014) and Uniformazione Vicenza (since 2013).

The central cupola has frescoes depicting Alms, Faith, Hope, and Charity and the four patron saints of the city and four Servite Saints and eight persons of the Old Testament and the Apotheosis of the Madonna; all by Lionello Spada. The quadratura was completed by Tommaso Sandrini. In the left nave the ceiling frescoes depict (1647-1648) Rachel at the Well, Gisele and Sisara and the Drowning of the Pharoah's army, Purity and Virginity, all by Luca Ferrari. On the city altar, erected by the Commune and designed by Giovanni Battista Magnani is a canvas (1624-1625) depicting Christ on cross consoled by Angels by Guercino.

Fedele was born in Venice in 1465 to Barbara Leoni and Angelo Fedele. While Fedele does not mention her mother in her writings, we have evidence that her father was respected among the aristocracy and took a great interest in his daughter's learning. When Fedele reached fluency in Greek and Latin at the age of twelve, she was sent by her father to Gasparino Borro, a Servite monk, who tutored her in classical literature, philosophy, the sciences, and dialectics. In 1487, at twenty-two years of age, she achieved success in Italy and abroad when she delivered a Latin speech in praise of the arts and sciences at her cousin's graduation at Padua.

It was back at home that she enlisted the aid of a tutor who also helped her to start a regular life of reflection. As an adolescent she made efforts twice to enter religious life but was hampered with her health and thus she was required to return to her home; despite these attempts her parents objected. She became a Servite tertiary and made her final profession on 18 June 1867 in the name of "Maria Maddalena of the Passion". The Bishop of Casteallammare di Stabia Francesco Petagna placed her as the head of the Pious Union of the Daughters of Mary and part of her time involved teaching catechism to the youth.

Benincasa da Montepulciano was born in 1375 in the Republic of Siena in the small town of Montepulciano. He became a professed members of the Servite Order as a teenager and in 1400 he became a hermit in a small cell that he fashioned on Monte Amiata near Siena and spent his life there feeding on the food that visitors brought to him as well as practicing exorcisms on occasion. He lived at the Bagni San Filippo where Saint Philip Benizi once lived as a penitent. Around the time he turned 50 his superiors from the Servites asked him to move their convent into the town of Monticchiello where he spent his final months.

Born Edwin Clark Johnson in 1945 in San Antonio, Texas, Johnson attended Catholic parochial school and then the college prep school associated with St. Mary's University, both run by the Brothers of Mary. A writing teacher at Central Catholic, Martin McMurtrey, inspired Johnson as well as such students as novelist Whitley Strieber, college president Larry Goodwin, and Henry Cisneros. Johnson entered religious life after high school, first as a Marianist and then as a Servite, where he was in the first class of students at Catholic Theological Union. Johnson studied under the influential Scripture scholars Barnabas Ahern, C.P. and John Dominic Crossan, both of whom changed how the modern world perceived sacred writings.

There are officially recognized Polish Righteous – the highest count among nations of the world. At a 1979 international historical conference dedicated to Holocaust rescuers, J. Friedman said in reference to Poland: "If we knew the names of all the noble people who risked their lives to save the Jews, the area around Yad Vashem would be full of trees and would turn into a forest." Hans G. Furth holds that the number of Poles who helped Jews is greatly underestimated and there might have been as many as 1,200,000 Polish rescuers. Father John T. Pawlikowski (a Servite priest from Chicago) remarked that the hundreds of thousands of rescuers strike him as inflated.

Notable well donors include Pedego Electric Bikes and Irish tenor Anthony Kearns. Local Eagle Scouts, as well as students from Mission Basilica School, Mater Dei High School, and Servite High School have also donated wells. A well was donated to mark the engagement of actor Miles Teller and model Keleigh Sperry, who are both Wells of Life ambassadors. Other wells have been dedicated to honor individuals posthumously: A 2018 well was dedicated to the late Reverend Billy Graham; Kearns donated a well in 2015 in honor of victims of the September 11 attacks; and a well in 2015 was dedicated to the six Irish students who died in a balcony collapse in Berkeley, California, that year.

Ricart was known for being exuberant in her childhood but was noted to have grown more reserved following her First Communion due to the strengthening of her faith; she still maintained a kind and amiable disposition to those around her. Vicente Garrido Pastor oversaw her and other girls' formation for First Communion and asked if some of them would be willing to dedicate themselves to God. Garrido was surprised when Ricart raised her hand at once and replied in the affirmative with a smile. The girl made frequent visits to the Pie de la Cruz convent of the Servite Order in Valencia since it was there that her mother had a friend.

A church at the site was founded in 1478, when a Beatrice d’Este (illegitimate daughter of Niccolò III d'Este, Marquis of Ferrara), moved here after the death of her husband, Tristano Sforza, moved to this town with her daughter Elisabetta Caterina. In the 1500s, the Servite order reconstructed the church, completed in 1590, as recalled by an inscription on the facade, stating: QUI CELSA PETIS INGREDERE TEMPLUS DOMINI VIRGINI DICATUM MDLXXXX (You who seek things from heaven, enter this temple of the Lord, dedicated to the Virgin in 1590). A major remodeling took place in 1904, with addition of a cupola, frescoed by Giovanni Battista Jemol in 1910. A new bell-tower was added.

The incident happened during anti-Christian violence that targeted Christian Churches, Institutions and homes where more than 395 churches and 5600 Christians' houses were burned, 39-100 Christians killed, and nearly 60,000 left homeless by groups led by the Hindu nationalist Sangh Parivar groups. The nun belonged to the Servite Order of the Catholic Church and was born in Sambalpur, Odisha, India. She was 28 years old during the time of the incident and worked with the tribals at the Divya jyoti Pastoral Centre in K Nuagaon, 12 km from Baliguda town in Kandhamal District. The nun was very active in spreading information about various central government employment schemes like the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 (NREGS) to the tribals.

The parish and its church were initiated by two Italian Servite priests from Florence, Fr Philip Bosio OSM and Fr Augustine Morini OSM, who arrived in London in 1864. They came as missionary members of an ancient mendicant order to fill the shortage of Catholic priests in the wake of the English resumption of regular, public Catholic services after a break of nearly 250 years. From 1852 to 1869 St Mary's Church, Moorfields, built by the faithful, served as the first London diocesan seat of a re-established British Catholic church with a hierarchy. Construction on the Fulham Road site began in 1874, led by Fr Philip Bosio OSM, with Joseph Hansom as architect. Hansom also designed the tower and priory frontage on Fulham Road (1879-80).

Garrido once helped prepare some girls for their First Communion and asked if some of them were willing to dedicate themselves to God in their lives. Garrido was surprised when one girl - Blessed María Francisca Ricart Olmos - raised her hand and replied that she would do so (she became a Servite nun killed during the Spanish Civil War). Garrido founded the Secular Institute of the Workers of the Cross on 13 June 1934; it received diocesan approval on 21 October 1964 from Archbishop Marcelino Olaechea and then the papal decree of praise from Pope Paul VI on 12 June 1971. He suffered from a painful illness a month before his death on 16 April 1975 and Archbishop Lahiguera celebrated his funeral with 100 priests in attendance.

The Brescia Arsenal was a small arms factory located in Brescia, Italy, and active from the early 19th century to the end of World War II. Initially it was built as a convent for Servite monks in the 15th century, and maintained a religious destination until the end of the 18th century. Following Napoleonic suppressions the convent was turned into barracks and, in 1812, the production of small arms was started. Many kinds of small arms in use by the Regio Esercito were overhauled in the Brescia Arsenal, including the Vetterli rifle and the Carcano rifle in its many versions. Built-in assembly lines produced thousands of the latter, including the entire lot of the M91 TS (Special Troops) Carbine, made between 1898 and 1919.

In about 1850 she felt called to enter an enclosed religious order and applied to a Dominican convent (not too far from her home) for admission as a secular religious but had to wait until there was room for her. In 1851 she heard of the efforts of Miguel Martínez Sanz (a Third Order Servite) who was the parish priest in Chamberí. Martínez envisioned founding a group of seven women who would minister to the sick and poor of his parish in their own homes since those people often could not afford proper hospitalization. Torres offered herself for this work and (with initial reluctance) Martínez accepted her as the seventh and final member of the order that he wished to establish.

The church in the sixteenth century was the subject of major refurbishments mainly by Bartolomeo from Campolongo who built in 1511 the porch toward the street; for the refurbishment, he utilized ten octagonal columns of red marble from the demolition of the 14th-century Chapel of the Saint in the Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua. The Servi church was part of a convent of the Servants of Mary, the Oratory of St. Omobono and that of the guild of Santa Maria del Parto. In 1807 the Servite Fathers were expelled and the church was confiscated and forfeited in state assets. It was established as a parish church, run by secular clergy. In the 1920s the interior of the church was restored to the austere 14th-century appearance.

Upon the death of Cicchitti Suriani, the role of director of the Old Catholic Centre in Milan passed to Mario De Conca (1901–1970) with, from 1966, Father Luigi M. Caroppo (a Servite friar) who succeeded De Conca as director in 1970. After renaming the movement the Italian Christian Catholic Community (later Mission) in 1970 the community was recognized as a mission of the Utrecht Union. The relationship with the Old Catholics of Utrecht lasted nearly 30 years until disagreements over the introduction of the ordination of women and other theological questions caused a separation in 1997 when the current name ("") was adopted. The Utrecht Union, for its part, has since established a new mission, the Chiesa Vetero- Cattolica dell'Unione di Utrecht in Italia, in the north of Italy under its jurisdiction.

He decorated the dome of the St. Salvator church of the Jesuit Order in Prague with stucco in the period 1648-1649. This would later bring in new orders from these Jesuits in 1655-1660 to sculpt the stone statues for the portico and the pediment of the façade; at the end of his life, in 1675, he would carve a series of wooden statues of Apostles for confessionals for the same church. He was commissioned in 1650 by Ferdinand III, Holy Roman Emperor to produce in Prague a sculpture of the Immaculate Conception to commemorate the Peace of Westphalia ending the Thirty Years' War in 1648. Around 1650 he also sculpted a number of wooden angels for the Servite Order, now on display in St. George's Convent, National Gallery in Prague.

María Francisca Ricart Olmos (23 February 1881 - 2 October 1936) - in religious María Guadalupe - was a Spanish Roman Catholic professed religious from the Servite Order. Ricart's call to the religious life manifested at the time she made her First Communion after expressing the desire to consecrate herself to God; she entered the convent when she turned fifteen and served her convent as both a novice mistress and prioress. Her peers held her in high regard for her dedication to helping and instructing new nuns as well as for her compassionate and jovial character. Ricart's beatification process opened in the late 1950s and concluded upon her beatification itself on 11 March 2001 in which Pope John Paul II beatified her and 232 others slain during the Spanish Civil War.

Avé de Fátima (English: Fátima Ave), also known as the Fátima Hymn, is a popular Roman Catholic Marian hymn. It is sung in honour of Our Lady of Fátima, a Catholic title of the Blessed Virgin Mary based on the Marian apparitions reported in 1917 by three shepherd children at Cova da Iria, in Fátima, Portugal. The hymn was written in August 1929 by Portuguese poet Afonso Lopes Vieira and it was first published, anonymously ("by a Servite"), on the 13 September 1929 issue of the religious periodical Voz da Fátima. Lopes Vieira had witnessed what he later identified as the Miracle of the Sun on 13 October 1917 from the balcony of his house in São Pedro de Moel (about 50 kilometers from Fátima), alongside his wife and mother-in-law.

The institute received official approval in 1964 by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Westminster and they were formally incorporated into the Servite Order. The institute continued to grow, being spread to other countries and received papal recognition in March 1979, at which time she was made a Dame in the Order of St. Gregory the Great by Pope John Paul II. The Constitutions of the Institute received final papal approval in February 1994. Members are now found in Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Italy, South Africa, Spain and the United States of America, as well as in the United Kingdom. Independent Catholic News described her as follows: > Joan was a woman of vision, always ahead of her times, and as housing needs > changed she went on to any number of imaginative housing projects.

Duomo di Viterbo, where the election began The cardinals began the election by meeting and voting once a day in the Episcopal Palace in Viterbo, before returning to their respective residences; tradition dictated that the election should take place in the city where the previous pope died, if the late pontiff had died outside Rome. There is little reliable data about the candidates proposed during almost three years of deliberations; certainly cardinals Odo of Châteauroux, John of Toledo, Giovanni Gaetano Orsini, Ottaviano Ubaldini, Riccardo Annibadi and Ottobono Fieschi were counted among the papabili.Sternfeld, p. 157-160, 170-171 According to later accounts, not supported by the contemporary sources, after two months, the cardinals nearly elected Philip Benizi, general of the Servite Order, who had come to Viterbo to admonish the cardinals, but fled to prevent his election.

Cantlay was born in Long Beach, California. He attended Servite High School where he won the California State High School Championship as a senior. In his freshman year at UCLA, Cantlay won four tournaments and won the Haskins Award as the most outstanding college golfer in 2011. He was also named the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year. Cantlay also won the Phil Mickelson Award as the GCAA National Freshman of the Year in addition to being the Pac-10 Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. He also won the Mark H. McCormack Medal as the top-ranked amateur in the world at the end of the 2011 season. This award earned him an invitation to the 2012 Open Championship. Cantlay qualified for the 2011 U.S. Open through sectional qualifying.

Giovannangelo Porro was born in 1451 in Seveso to the nobleman Protasio Porro and Franceschina as one of three male children. The death of his father in 1468 prompted him to enter the Servite Order around this time while becoming a professed member on 20 December 1470. In the summer of 1474 he travelled to a convent in Florence where he was later ordained as a priest and he remained there until around 1477 when he went to the convent of Monte Senario to dedicate his time to meditation as well as the penitential practices of fasting and self-mortification - he would remain there for about two decades. Towards the end of 1488 the unwell Porro went to the Basilica of the Annunciation in Florence and after his recuperation spent a few months as a convent prior in Chianti.

There are 5 institutes of religious life for men: the Redemptorists who run a retreat centre at Kinnoull in Perth; the Pallotines at St. Joseph's, who serve the Polish community in Dundee; the CST Fathers (Congregation of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux) (an Oriental rite foundation from India) in the parish of St. Clement of Rome; the SMA Fathers (Society of African Missions) in Dunblane and the Marist Brothers who teach. Within the diocese there are 7 institutes of religious life for women: the Columban Sisters, the Little Sisters of the Poor (left 2015), the Religious Sisters of Charity, the Servite Sisters, the Sisters of Mercy, the Society of the Sacred Heart and the Ursulines. These women are involved in a variety of ministries: teaching, administration, parish work and running a home for the elderly. The Diocese also operates its own facility for elderly people: St. Mary's Home in Monifieth as well as a day care centre attached to the home.

In 1918, at age 21, in the uniform of a Samaritan nurse, during the First World War Maria Valtorta was at first reluctant to have her notebooks published, but on the advice of her priests, Father Romualdo Migliorini and Corrado Berti of the Servite Order, agreed in 1947 to their publication. Shortly after April 1947, Father Berti presented the first copy of the work to Pope Pius XII, who on 26 February 1948 received Fathers Migliorini and Berti, along with their prior, Father Andrea Checchin, in special audience, as reported on the next day's L'Osservatore Romano, the Vatican newspaper.L'Osservatore Romano, 27 February 1948, p. 1 The permission of the author's ordinary, or of the ordinary of the place of publication or of printing, was required for publishing such books and had to be given in writing, Confident in Pope Pius XII's verbal approval, Father Berti had in 1948 offered the Poem of the Man-God to the Vatican Printing Office, which however did not publish it.

The Order of Servites (or Servants of Mary) cannot be said to possess a separate or exclusive rite similar to the Dominicans and others, but follows the Roman Ritual, as provided in its constitutions, with very slight variations. Devotion towards the Mother of Sorrows being the principal distinctive characteristic of the order, there are special prayers and indulgences attaching to the solemn celebration of the five major Marian feasts: the Annunciation, Visitation, Assumption, Presentation and Nativity of our Blessed Lady. The feast of the Seven Dolours of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated always on the Third Sunday of September, has a privileged octave and is enriched with a plenary indulgence ad instar Portiunculae; that is, as often as a visit is made to a church of the order. In common with all friars the Servite priests wear an amice on the head instead of a biretta while proceeding to and from the altar.

Bevins was born and raised in California and attended Servite High School and the University of California, Berkeley before working in Berlin and then covering Hugo Chávez in Venezuela. He earned a master's degree in international political economy from the London School of Economics. In 2012, after an investigation Bevins published on modern-day slavery in the Amazon rainforest, pig iron companies in the state of Maranhão agreed not to source their charcoal produced using slave labor, forest destruction, or invasions into indigenous lands. In 2016, President Dilma Rousseff declared in an interview with Bevins she did not believe that the US or CIA was behind her impeachment. Suspicion of US backing was common at the time among her left-wing supporters, who like Rousseff considered the impeachment a “coup.” From 2012 to 2016, Bevins ran the From Brazil section of the online version of Folha de S.Paulo, Brazil's largest general newspaper, which published news and analysis from Bevins and other major correspondents in Brazil.

In 1851 Torres y Acosta was a young woman, 25 years of age, who had felt a call to an enclosed religious order. While she was awaiting admittance to a monastery, she helped the Daughters of Charity who had educated her in their care of the poor of the city. At that point, a local priest, Miguel Martínez y Sanz, a member of the Servite Third Order, proposed to her a project he had come to envision of a religious community of women caring for their sick, including visiting them in their homes. Torres agreed to help in the project and on 15 August of that same year, having received the permission of the Bishop of Madrid, on the feast day of the Assumption of Mary, she and the six women who had also felt called to commit themselves to this service were given the religious habit of the new congregation. The sisters, who assist the sick in hospitals and other health centers, but especially in their own homes, became a congregation of pontifical right directly under the Vatican on September 18, 1867.

Smeltzer began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Colorado from 1968 to 1969. He then spent two seasons as the offensive line coach at UC Santa Barbara. From 1972 to 1977 he was the offensive line coach at UNLV. While at UNLV, Smeltzer met his wife, who was an undergrad at the University. From 1979 to 1983, Smeltzer served as head coach of Servite High School in Anaheim, California. In 1982 he switched from a veer offense to a pro-type passing offense led by Quarterback Steve Beuerlein. The team won the state championship in 1982 and 1983. In 1984 he joined the BC Lions as offensive line coach. He remained with the team until 1986 when he followed fellow Lions assistant Bob Vespaziani to the Calgary Stampeders. He was not retained by Vespaziani's successor Lary Kuharich and returned to the Lions in 1988. In 1989 he was given the additional duties of offensive coordinator. He was not retained for the 1990 season and instead became a full-time teacher and head coach at Holy Cross Regional High School.

Tschiderer celebrated his first Mass at San Antonio di Padua church at Collalbo. From 1800 to 1802 he spent time as an assistant priest and then travelled to Rome for further studies and a pilgrimage where he was named as an apostolic notarius; he met the new Pope Pius VII several times during the course of 1802. He later returned and assumed pastoral work once more in the German part of Trento and was later made a professor of moral and pastoral theological studies there. In 1810 he became the parish priest at Sarentino - where he opened a small school - and then sent on 13 September 1819 as the new parish priest at Merano. On 26 October 1826 the Prince-Bishop Luschin appointed him as the cathedral canon and then on 26 December 1827 pro- vicar at Trento; on 24 February 1832 the Prince-Bishop Galura from Brixen selected him as Titular Bishop of Heliopolis - which received papal confirmation - and then as the vicar-general for Vorarlberg while also being named as an Auxiliary Bishop of Brixen at the same time. He received his episcopal consecration on 20 May 1832 in a Servite church.
