Students constantly enter and leave the institution, and the faculty and staff working there for longer periods of time may have many competing demands on their attention and resources, such as course instruction, research, and conference travel. Different academic departments may prioritize different, and even competing, goals for the university. University senates, in particular, provide an opportunity to see the characteristics of organized anarchy and the garbage can model in action.

The Advisory Council of Faculty Senates (ACFS) is a non-partisan statewide organization of university faculty members formed to represent the interests of all faculty members working for the State University System of Florida. James Watson was the first Speaker of the New York State Assembly and a Federalist member of the New York and United States Senates. He was a Yale University graduate who became a prosperous importer-exporter. European claims in West Africa 1885: Rivières du Sud and Kapitaï & Koba were disputed between Germany and France. Chancellor Otto von Bismarck asked for views on potential German intervention in West Africa from the senates of Lübeck, Hamburg and Bremen. Visser began his tenure as KSTC's twelfth president on the February 15, 1967. Because Visser was very student-oriented, the university senates were established. On the international level, partners of the Chamber include several European Union institutions, Europe- wide student organizations (European Students' Union, EURODOC) and national Student Unions from the Visegrád countries (known as the V4+ Student Alliance), or any other country with experience relevant to the Czech Republic.

President Carter signed a controversial extension of the deadline to 1982, but that time saw no additional ratifications. In the 1990s, ERA supporters resumed efforts for ratification, arguing that the pre-deadline ratifications still applied, that the deadline itself can be lifted, and that only three states were needed. Whether the amendment is still before the states for ratification remains disputed, but in 2014 both Virginia and Illinois state senates voted to ratify, although both were blocked in the house chambers. In 2017, 45 years after the amendment was originally submitted to states, the Nevada legislature became the first to ratify it following expiration of the deadlines.

Under the Universities Act No. 16, 1978, the University of Sri Lanka was split into six independent, autonomous universities as University of Colombo, University of Peradeniya, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, University of Kelaniya, University of Moratuwa and University of Jaffna. This Act brought back some of the central features of the Ceylon University Ordinance of 1942 such as the Senates, the Councils, and Courts. The national congress was to be under the guidance of the prince primate; subordinate to the congress were to be the diocesan conventions with a diocesan senate; below, there were to be the decanal and district senates, following which were the communal assemblies and the parishes. Elton Egedeous Engstrom Jr. (February 26, 1935 – November 6, 2013) was an American lawyer, businessman, writer, and politician. Engstrom served one term apiece in the Alaska House of Representatives and the Alaska Senate as a Republican during the 1960s, leaving in 1971. He was also a part of one of Alaska's longest-enduring political families; his father served in Alaska's territorial and state senates, his mother served in the territorial house, and his daughter, Cathy Muñoz was a member of the Alaska House from 2011 through January 16, 2017. Elton Egedeous Engstrom Jr. was born in Juneau, Alaska, the elder of two sons born to Thelma Catherine (née Wait) and Elton Engstrom, Sr. His father moved to Juneau from Wrangell in 1928.

In 1958, Heyder bin Heyder, M.D., and Soerarjo Darsono, M.D., met the Diponegoro University President, Mr. Soedarto, SH and delivered the idea of establishing a medical school, as Universitas Gadjah Mada medical students did their internship at Semarang General Hospital. Universitas Diponegoro Foundation was established in 1959, with Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Teaching and Education, also Faculty of Engineering. This fact led to the new idea of establishing a medical school. During the Universitas Diponegoro Foundation meeting joint with the Universitas Diponegoro Senates on June 10, 1960, upon R. Atmadi Wreksoatmodjo M.D.’s idea, decided to establish a medical school of Universitas Diponegoro.

Much of the criticism circled around Hogan's initiative to have a common admission policy for all three campuses, even though the demographics of each campus are quite different. Hogan's initiative was never approved. In December 2011, Lisa Troyer, who had been President Hogan's Chief-of-Staff, was accused of sending to the members of the university Senates conference committee an e-mail in support of Hogan's proposal with the signature at the end of the e-mail indicating that it was sent by a university Senator.
