Some minerals decompose readily and become turbid and semi-transparent (e.g. feldspar); others remain always perfectly fresh and clear (e.g. quartz), while others yield characteristic secondary products (such as green chlorite after biotite). The inclusions in the crystals (both solid and fluid) are of great interest; one mineral may enclose another, or may contain spaces occupied by glass, by fluids or by gases.
The leading reason for corneal tattooing is to alter the appearance of the eye cosmetically. Usually, the need for this alteration stems from corneal opacity. Corneal opacities (scarring of the cornea that creates an opaque or semi-transparent area on the eye) may be caused by leucoma, keratitis or cataracts. Such opacities can be cosmetically disruptive for patients in their everyday lives.
Duvier del Dago Fernandez’ installations usually start with small drawings on semi-transparent nylon. Then, without the use of any computer or 3-D program, he translates them into spatial objects. He creates a spatial 'connect the dots' system, using cotton thread and a series of hooks on wooden panels. This creates a visual effect that makes his creations look like holograms.

The reliability of detection proved to be sufficient for the experiment to violate Bell's inequalities on the whole, even though all detected correlations did not violate them. In 2001, Antoine Suarez's team, which included Nicolas Gisin who had participated in the Geneva experiment, reproduced the experiment using mirrors or detectors in motion, allowing them to reverse the order of events across the frames of reference, in accordance with special relativity (this inversion is only possible for events without any causal relationship). The speeds are chosen so that when a photon is reflected or crosses the semi-transparent mirror, the other photon has already crossed or been reflected from the point of view of the frame of reference attached to the mirror. This an "after-after" configuration, in which sound waves play the role of semi-transparent mirrors.
Alloriite is a small crystalline mineral that has only grown up to 1.5 to 2mm in length and has been related to explosive volcanic building. The mineral appears as a colorless mineral that, that is semi transparent. When tested it has a white streak and a virtuous luster. It also appears to be brittle, even with a hardness of 5 on the Mohs hardness scale.
In 1969 and 1971, M. David Egger and Paul Davidovits from Yale University, published two papers describing the first confocal laser scanning microscope. A 5 mW Helium-Neon-Laser with 633 nm light was reflected by a semi-transparent mirror towards the objective.
Punched pockets are usually transparent or semi-transparent, to allow viewing of the contents of a document without removing it. Color pockets are also available. They protect paper documents from tears, water, food, stains, and fingerprints, and partially prevent such documents from being crumpled. Punched pockets have several holes in the left edge, which allow them to be bound into a file, or a three-ring binder.
Under this was placed the relic (sent from Rome around the year A.D. 1123) of what at the time was believed to be the True Cross. The relic is since lost, and was a small fragment of wood only. The crystal is semi-transparent, once enabling the relic to be partially seen by the viewer. The cross is high and the arms are in breadth.
MIR uses Doppler Velocimetry to produce a three-dimensional image of a model inside the loop. To do this, the loop circulates about 3500 gallons of semi-transparent mineral oil similar to baby oil. Special quartz models, built to scale, are inserted into the loop near the observation equipment. MIR is capable of analyzing a variety of models, including the interior of nuclear reactor cores.

When the paper of the stamp is described, stamp catalogs often use words that are relative, such as thick and thin. This is done to describe the variations of the stamp's paper in a particular issue. Thick may be as much as 0.005 inches and thin as little as 0.001 inches, with medium somewhere in between. Paper can described as being opaque, semi-translucent and semi-transparent.
If the stamp's design can be seen through the back of the stamp, then it is semi-transparent. Another comparative set of terms refers to the paper's hardness. Hard, stout hard, and soft have been used to describe the paper. Experts have described the snap of the stamp when flicked as a means to determine if the stamp was printed on hard or soft paper.
A mirror TV or TV mirror is a television that can change into a mirror. Mirror TVs are often used to save space or hide electronics in bathrooms, bedrooms and living rooms. That's how I end up > with this structure.
At equilibrium, Iλ = Bλ(T) and therefore dIλ = 0 even when the density of the GHG (n) increases. In other words, Schwarzschild's equation predicts no radiative forcing at wavelengths where absorption is "saturated". The radiative forcing from doubling carbon dioxide occurs mostly on the flanks of the strongest absorption band. However, as density decreases with altitude, even the strongest absorption bands eventually become semi-transparent.
As the lights changed, the scene would transform. The audience would begin to see the painting on the other side of the screen. The effect was awe- inspiring. "Transforming impressions, mood changes, and movements were produced by a system of shutters and screens that allowed light to be projected- from behind- on alternately separate sections of an image painted on a semi-transparent backdrop" (Szalczer).
In 2005 EKTA began building a new plant for LED screen production. In 2007-2008 new LED products were introduced into development: strips that allow building semi-transparent video-screens, and also screens for indoor usage with enhanced contrast. In 2008 EKTA opened its representative office in the United Arab Emirates - EKTA Middle East. In 2009, the company joined the International Association of Audiovisual Systems Integrators InfoComm International.
She wears a white patterned cap over her strawberry-blond hair. The cap is covered by two white veils; one semi-transparent, the other opaque white. Infra-red photography reveals a number of preparatory underdrawings. Samples of the pigments show that three different purples were used; formed from mixtures of lead white, azurite and red lake, however most passages of purple have either faded or been overpainted by restorers.
The clip features the singer in front of a black backdrop. As the music video progresses, multiple semi-transparent shots of the singer dancing at the same time appear layered on top of one another in a kaleidoscopic form. The camera focuses on her facial expressions throughout. Adele wears a floral long- sleeved gown designed by Dolce & Gabbana which she chose by herself, without the assistance of a stylist or designer.
Then comes underpainting, overpainting, and finally semi-transparent glazes and varnish. All of these layers will affect the appearance of the final painting. To understand the role of underpainting, one can use metaphor and think of the underpainting as a base-rhythm in music, and the overpainting as a solo played over this. Areas not underpainted, outlining the space for a figure for example, are said to be reserved.
The Ram in a Thicket of about 2600–2400 BCE from Ur uses this technique on wood, with a thin layer of bitumen underneath to help adhesion. The next advances involved two simple processes. The first involves gold leaf, which is gold that is hammered or cut into very thin sheets. Gold leaf is often thinner than standard paper today, and when held to the light is semi-transparent.
At their termination they form distinct points on the somewhat expanded thin edge of the peristome. The aperture within is dull, opaque white, with a narrow, much thinner, semi-transparent, somewhat expanded, sharp-edged border. This gives the appearance of thickening, but there is no raised opaque white line, said by some author to be the distinguishing character of Moelleria.Transactions of the Connecticut Academy of Arts and Sciences, vol.
The imagery is manipulated and re-configured with each level having a different design. On the south east-corner entrance at Third Avenue, there are ceramic tiles depicting construction beams and the cranes that dismantled the El in the 1940s. At the mezzanine, a mosaic reveals the sky where the train had previously been present. The platform level features semi- transparent and reflective glass depicting vintage scenes of the neighborhood.
Glazes (painting) A glaze is a thin transparent or semi-transparent layer on a painting which modifies the appearance of the underlying paint layer. Glazes can change the chroma, value, hue and texture of a surface. Glazes consist of a great amount of binding medium in relation to a very small amount of pigment.Glaze. In: Drying time will depend on the amount and type of paint medium used in the glaze.
The bottom third of the extension is transparent, the middle third layered and semi- transparent, and the top is a solid ceramic box. The three new floors double the museum’s exhibition and public space. On the ground floor the cafe provides a 180-degree view of the surrounding Sydney Gardens. The intermediate floors in the extension provide a ‘cabinet of curiosities’ display of previously stored items from the Holburne’s collection.
Some consumer cameras, in particular DV cameras, can "burn" (overlay) the tape timecode onto the composite output. This output typically is semi-transparent and may include other tape information. It is usually activated by turning on the 'display' info in one of the camera's sub-menus. While not as 'professional' as an overlay as created by a professional VCRs, it is a cheap alternative that is just as accurate.
Another one of the few Dragoons who barely survived the Genesis Wars, due to the Peacemakers' betrayal. She is barely alive, and is unable to assume her true form of a Dragoon. She first appeared as a giant frog (using frog DNA to give herself physical form). She chased a terrified Pacifica around the lake until Zefiris dispersed her physical form, revealing a semi-transparent girl that was her humanoid form.
Originally, the stadium's surface was a Tifway 419 Bermuda grass, specifically bred for indoor use. The dome's ceiling contained thousands of semi-transparent panes made of Lucite. Players quickly complained that glare coming off the panes made it hard for them to track fly balls; to solve the problem, two sections of panes were painted white in April. However, within a few months, the grass died from lack of sunlight.
Phreatichthys andruzzii showing the pale colour and lack of eyes typical of cavefish. The large red spot on the head is the blood-filled gills, visible through the semi-transparent gill cover Cavefish or cave fish is a generic term for fresh and brackish water fish adapted to life in caves and other underground habitats. Related terms are subterranean fish, troglomorphic fish, troglobitic fish, stygobitic fish, phreatic fish and hypogean fish.Romero, Aldemaro, editor (2001).
Emaciation can be imperceptible in very susceptible species and/or at high temperatures (e.g. D. puntazzo infections with E. leei), because fish die before reaching a caquexic condition. At dissection, macroscopical signs include intestinal focal congestion and haemorrhages, and it can appear fragile and semi-transparent, often filled with mucous liquid with reduced perivisceral fat deposits, pale internal organs and occasionally green liver. Enlarged or abnormally coloured gall bladders are common in some hosts (e.g.
The bottom right corner features an image of the island in optically variable color-changing inks and a semi- transparent version of the cardholder's photo. The card's centre features the Dominican Republic's emblem inside a gulloché printed with invisible ink. The card's top right corner features a hologram of the JCE logo and the Santiago Monumento a los Héroes de la Restauración. Finally, microtext of the cardholder's name is printed under the cardholder's signature.
In their natural state, the Plane and its fellow members of the Ring resemble eggs made of semi transparent plastic. In time, it was separated from its family and was found by the Lansinarians, a blind subterranean race that lived underneath Antarctica. The Lansinarians could not react quickly enough to changes in their environment. Thus, they developed the morphing crystal they had found into a life support device that catered to their needs.
Zoonetics, Australia. p. 623-893. It is a semi-transparent pygmygoby marked with irregular rufous internal bars along the length of its body, there is a black spot above the opening of the gills and there are irregular reddish blotches on its nape and it has three reddish blotches which are separated by whitish barring on the belly. There is also aa thin white stripe at the base of the pectoral fin.
Users could navigate through Open.... using either the number keys or via the four coloured buttons typically on their Sky Digital remote control. Other buttons which were used included the "back-up" button to go back a screen, or the directional arrows also on their Sky Digital remote control. All screens, regardless of who provided the content, displayed the Open.... navigation banner. It was grey and semi-transparent and featured the four coloured buttons.
Balinese girls wearing a kebaya Balinese kebaya is quite similar to Javanese kebaya, but slightly different. The Balinese kebaya usually has V neck line with folded collar sometimes decorated with laces. They are usually tight-fitting made with colorful semi-transparent or plain fabrics either cotton or brocade, patterned with floral stitching or embroidery. Unlike traditional Javanese kebaya, Balinese kebaya might add buttons in the front opening, and kerongsang brooch is seldom used.
Among its innovations in Mettlach at the end of the nineteenth century was Phanolith, a kind of semi-transparent porcelain that combines the characteristics and benefits of jasperware and pate-sur-pate. The creator of the Phanolith was the ceramics artist Jean-Baptiste Stahl, who headed the modelling section of Villeroy & Boch. Phanolith gained first wide public attention at the Paris Exposition Universelle (1900). Villeroy & Boch has continued to base its broadest market in Germany.
TV stations in mainland China always place their logo (usually semi-transparent and sometimes animated) in the top-left corner of the screen in full colour or grey-scale, regardless of the content being broadcast (programme or advertisements), some channels like Phoenix Television hide their logos during commercial breaks; although in some rare cases, the DOG may be placed elsewhere to avoid covering the score bug during the broadcast of a sporting event.
The spring mine is deep brown, opaque and occupying the apical portion of the leaf, while the autumnal mine is pale green, semi-transparent and sometimes forming at the central portion of the leaf. The blackish grains of frass are scattered in the mine. The larva often migrates from one leaf to another. Full-grown larvae leave the mine and spin a hammock-like cocoon on the lower side of the leaf.
P2PTV overlay network serving three video streams. The program was based on P2PTV technology and was expected to deliver (relaying) near-TV resolution images. It turned a PC into an instant on-demand TV with no need for an additional set-up box. News updates, discussion forums, show ratings, and multi-user chat sessions (often linked to the active stream/channel) were made possible through the use of semi-transparent widget overlays.
Horse wearing a fly mask with ear covers. A fly mask or fly cap is a mask used on horses to cover the eyes, jaw, and sometimes the ears and muzzle to protect from flies. The mask is semi-transparent and made from a mesh allowing the horse to see and hear while wearing it. The mask may also provide some protection from UV-light and some are treated with insect repellent.
The researchers proposed a semi-transparent PSC with enhanced efficiency that utilizes both narrow bandgap polymer donor, PTB7‐Th, and non-fullerene acceptor, IHIC. The results of this study showed that the proposed PSC exhibited high transmittance and absorption in the infrared spectrum but low absorption in the visible spectrum. This cell showed to be relatively stable and have a maximum PCE of 9.77%, which, as of 2017, is the highest reported PCE value.
Laser Doppler velocimetry, also known as laser Doppler anemometry, is the technique of using the Doppler shift in a laser beam to measure the velocity in transparent or semi-transparent fluid flows or the linear or vibratory motion of opaque, reflecting surfaces. The measurement with laser Doppler anemometry is absolute and linear with velocity and requires no pre- calibration. Laser Doppler anemometry facility operating at Laboratory of Gas Technology (Poznań University of Technology).
Examples of both types can be seen in the picture at the top of the article. Icons may normally be veiled with a semi-transparent or opaque cloth; very thin chiffon-type cotton cloth is a speciality of Ethiopia, though usually with no pattern. Colourful basketry with a coiled construction is common in rural Ethiopia. The products have many uses, such as storing grains, seeds and food and being used as tables and bowls.
The chart shows the relative state of the parties since polling began from the last election. The constituency vote is shown as semi-transparent lines, while the regional vote is shown in full lines. Average 30 day trend line of poll results for the next Scottish Parliament election, expected on 6 May 2021. Results from 5 May 2016 to 8 May 2020 The SSP abbreviation on the graph refers to the Scottish Socialist Party.
Organic and polymer photovoltaic (OPV) are a relatively new area of research. The tradition OPV cell structure layers consist of a semi- transparent electrode, electron blocking layer, tunnel junction, holes blocking layer, electrode, with the sun hitting the transparent electrode. OPV replaces silver with carbon as an electrode material lowering manufacturing cost and making them more environmentally friendly. OPV are flexible, low weight, and work well with roll-to roll manufacturing for mass production.
The unit also contained a built intervalometer for delays up to 1 frame per minute. The maximum speed was 3 frames per second. In 1972 Canon made a special Modification of the F-1 called the "High Speed Motor Drive Camera". It had a fixed pellicle (semi transparent) mirror, the motor drive motors were a permanent attachment (the camera's wind lever was removed – making it impossible to use without the motor drive).
Gigantocypris is a genus of ostracod crustaceans in family Cypridinidae, and among the most well-known members of the class Ostracoda (together with Vargula hilgendorfii). Its members are extremely large for ostracods, measuring up to across, have a globular shape, are typically semi-transparent orange or reddish, and have relatively large mirror-like eyes that are used to locate their small animal prey. They are found worldwide in dark, deep and cold oceans.
The two workers known have body lengths between , and heads that range between . The coloration seen on specimen DO-I 980 indicates black tones on the ridges and rear corners of the head along with the lamellae edges which border the pronotum. The front edges of the lamellae on the gaster are rust colored and semi-transparent. The head is almost square in outline, with broadly curved rear corners and a concave rear margin sporting two denticles.
The installations are installed for a defined period only. Emmanuel uses his own body as his ‘canvas’ and imprints into his skin, using lead type that results in temporary bruising, the names of deceased servicemen killed in action. The artist’s marked body is photographed and the images re- printed onto large, semi-transparent silk banners which are placed in the landscape, acting as a ‘counter memorial’. It is a non-partisan, ‘counter- memorial’ that reflects on impermanence and forgetting.
In-game screenshot, showing the player destroying an enemy base. The objective of Bosconian is to score as many points as possible by destroying enemy missiles and bases. The player controls a small fighter ship that can move in eight directions, and can fire both forward and backward. Each round consists of a number of green enemy bases that must all be destroyed to advance to the next round (a semi-transparent automap helps identify their location).
In addition, the relaunch saw the addition of a semi-transparent watermark (DOG) to new clips added to the site, in order to discourage "web snatching" of clips. Despite this, clips from TVARK have appeared on other sites, notably YouTube. In July 2009, TVARK announced the end of RealMedia used on the site, with videos now using Flash streaming in H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, and the service called TVARK iNTERACTIVE will include user accounts commenting on video statistics.
Devoré – or burnout technique – applied to green velvet fabric Devoré (also called burnout) is a fabric technique particularly used on velvets, where a mixed-fibre material undergoes a chemical process to dissolve the cellulose fibers to create a semi-transparent pattern against more solidly woven fabric. The same technique can also be applied to textiles other than velvet, such as lace or the fabrics in burnout t-shirts. Devoré comes from the French verb dévorer, meaning literally to devour.
The story begins with the sexton standing in front of the meeting-house, ringing the bell. He is to stop ringing the bell when the Reverend Mr. Hooper comes into sight. However, the congregation is met with an unusual sight: Mr. Hooper is wearing a black semi-transparent veil that obscures all of his face but his mouth and chin from view. This creates a stir among the townspeople, who begin to speculate about his veil and its significance.
In 1930 Bartosch moved to Paris and created the 30 minute film entitled 'L'Idée' (The Idea) to which he is most remembered for. The film is described as the first serious, poetic, tragic work in animation. The film's characters and backdrops were composed of several layers of different types of paper from semi-transparent to thick cardboard. Special effects like halos, smoke and fog were made with lather spread on glass plates and lit from behind.
The larval stage is defined by three distinct larval instars. Total larval development time across all three instars is 10 ± 1 days, with larvae consistently presenting as worm-like with hairless, light-to-semi-transparent bodies. While in the larval stage, the head is fully retractable and has two mouth hooks protruding from the lower jaw. The thorax has well-defined pro-, meso-, and meta- sections with eight distinct abdominal sections containing small spines on all but two sections.
Hunt turned the painting into a memorial to his wife, using her features for Isabella. He worked on it steadily in the months after her death, returning to England in 1867, and finally completing it in January 1868. The painting was purchased and exhibited by the dealer Ernest Gambart. The painting portrays Isabella, unable to sleep, dressed in a semi-transparent nightgown, having just left her bed, which is visible with the cover turned over in the background.
In the later half of the 20th century, the experimental music that served as the precursor to glitch contained distortions that were often produced by manual manipulation of audio media. This came in the form of Yasunao Tone's "wounded" CDs; small bits of semi-transparent tape were placed on the CD to interrupt the reading of the audio information.Stuart, Caleb. “Damaged Sound: Glitching and Skipping Compact Discs in the Audio of Yasunao Tone, Nicolas Collins and Oval”.
Michael wakes up at home the next day, unaware of how he got there. His eyes are sensitive to sunlight and he develops a sudden thirst for blood, which leads him to impulsively attack Sam. Sam's dog, Nanook, retaliates, causing Sam to realize that Michael is turning into a vampire by his brother's semi-transparent reflection. Sam is initially terrified but Michael convinces him that he is not yet a vampire and that he desperately needs his help.
The latter task might also be performed by a sandıkkâr (from "sandık", "chest"). A yardak might sing songs, and a dairezen play the tambourine. The puppets themselves have jointed limbs and are made from the hide of a camel or a water buffalo. The hide is worked until it is semi-transparent; then it is colored, resulting in colorful projections. The lamp for projection is known as a şem’a (literally "candle"), but is typically an oil lamp.
The membrane used was deliberately picked due to its semi- transparent property allowing for natural sunlight to hit the plants in the interior of the pavilion. The initial design called for 8 petals but was doubled to ensure the interior was completely covered during the transition between open and closed. The Sixteen synchronized hydraulic cylinders allow for the roof to open and close in 90 seconds. The roof moves throughout the day, depending on the climate to keep the interior temperate.
The head and first six segments of the thorax are covered by a protective carapace which extends forward in a triangular plate with a depressed centre between the eyes. The abdomen bears short limbs and the last segment bears larger, flattened biramous limbs which form a tail fan. The telson (the last abdominal segment between the tail fan) is not forked, a fact emphasised by the specific name "integer". This opossum shrimp is semi- transparent, sometimes with a brownish tinge.
Variously sized clubbed hairs are scattered along the rear borders of both the gastral tergites and sternites, while similar, but minutely sized clubbed hairs are rarely found on the rear corners of the head. The propodium has narrow lamellae along the posterior sides that project out and then taper towards the rear. The petiole and post petiole segments each have triangular semi-transparent lamellae on the sides, with the post petiole lamellae bracketed by the lamellae projecting from the front of the gaster.
The game's characters are rendered in much more realistic visual style than in the previous titles in the series,Nate Ming, "Dead or Alive 5" Aims for Realistic Female Characters and a Possible "Virtua Fighter" Crossover, Crunchyroll, February 17, 2012. including new details such as the fighters getting sweaty and their clothes getting dirty during the fights, costume-specific breast physics and semi-transparent clothing.Anoop Gantayat, Dead or Alive 5 Has Costume-Specific Bounce and Transparency, Andriasang.com, 2012-04-30.
Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Live is Mannheim Steamroller's fourth Christmas album overall and was first released in 1997. It is a recorded live performance which includes variations on the arranged tracks featured in previous Steamroller albums. A companion DVD of the concert was also released. The light show consisted of a semi-transparent screen positioned in front of the musicians (as opposed to being in the back like most concerts) where various images would be projected to give a three dimensional look.
Each thread is bathed in a series of chemical washes and coated with a layer of gold only 100 nm thick, making the process cheap and scalable. In 2020 Carmichael demonstrated a stretchable, conformable light emitting fabric that could be used to replace high-visibility clothing. The semi-transparent fabric contains nylon, spandex and gold, whilst the light-emission occurs from zinc sulfide. In 2019 Carmichael and her colleague James Gauld coordinated the first LGBTQ+ in STEM conference in Canada.
Target shooting diopter of a 10 metre air rifle with a mounted semi- transparent occluder for the non-aiming eye The diopter is an aperture sight component used to assist the aiming of devices, mainly firearms, airguns, and crossbows. It is found in particular as a rear sight element on rifles. To obtain a usable sighting line the diopter has to have a complementing front sight element. Diopter and globe sighting lines are commonly used in ISSF match rifle shooting events.
Mac OS X Lion introduced many changes inspired by iOS that persisted in OS X Mavericks as well as OS X Yosemite, although the latter changed the overall aesthetic. Scrollbars were removed and scrollbar handles turned into thin, semi-transparent bars that disappear when not used. The corner radii of push buttons were reduced, giving an appearance similar to Mac OS 8 and 9. The gel-like appearance of most components was replaced with a slightly glossy and flatter look.
In gases and liquids, conduction is due to the collisions and diffusion of molecules during their random motion. Photons in this context do not collide with one another, and so heat transport by electromagnetic radiation is conceptually distinct from heat conduction by microscopic diffusion and collisions of material particles and phonons. But the distinction is often not easily observed unless the material is semi-transparent. In the engineering sciences, heat transfer includes the processes of thermal radiation, convection, and sometimes mass transfer.
A cake of rosin, made for use by violinists, used here for soldering Rosin, also called colophony or Greek pitch (), is a solid form of resin obtained from pines and some other plants, mostly conifers, produced by heating fresh liquid resin to vaporize the volatile liquid terpene components. It is semi- transparent and varies in color from yellow to black. At room temperature rosin is brittle, but it melts at stove-top temperature. It chiefly consists of various resin acids, especially abietic acid.
Important parts of the old and new excavations are covered by a series of large semi-transparent roofs, which protect them from the elements. In places tourists are allowed to wander among the ruins; in others, walkways allow passage above. There are rooms which have been identified as metal workshops, ceramic workshops and meeting rooms; there is also a large residential dwelling with en-suite bath, which is similar to a design at Phaistos, both taking advantage of expansive views.C. Michael Hogan. 2007.
In Indiana and Tennessee, there are specific prohibitions against showing a noticeably erect penis through clothing, or other sensitive areas through semi-transparent clothing. In some states, indecent conduct can also occur on private property, depending on the intent or effect of the act. In some cases there are exceptions for spouses, breastfeeding, and in New York, theatre performances. In most states, there is a governing state statute which defines the offense; in Maryland and Massachusetts, indecency is defined by case law.
The arms are long, narrow and cylindrical at the proximal end near the disc, widening slightly and becoming cigar-shaped distally and tapering near the tips. Here, the membrane covering them is semi- transparent, and there are saddle-like bands, and many small pedicellariae. Underneath the arms, the ambulacral groove occupies more than half the width of each arm. The outer spines around the mouth on the oral (lower surface) of the disc form a bar across the ambulacral grooves.
The new dynamic asymmetric brace Crass Cheneau is made of special hypoallergenic polypropylene, 2 to 3 mm. of thickness, semi-transparent when applied on the patient's body. Laser scanner technique or the use of plaster tape at lordosis position are required to estimate the size of the patient's body. Regarding the mechanic principles of the brace, special attention was paid to the functional importance of some vertebras that play predominant role for the maintenance of standing position (according to Delmas).
Traveling north from San Francisco, the trio detour through what later became Redwood National Park where D.J. has endowed a grove of Redwood trees, entitled "Mulrooney Grove". There they encounter a gnome called Jasper (Tom Lowell), who has "a terrible problem". They also are introduced to Jasper's 943-year- old grandfather Knobby (also played by Brennan) who, like D.J., is passionate and short-tempered. Jasper's "terrible problem" is that Knobby is suffering from a sickness called "fading", or becoming semi-transparent.
On its walls one can see a two-coloured picture of long- haired horses, beside them a trapezium like geometrical figure and a little further a group of geometrical signs. The picture of an anthropoid creature, the only one in Shulgantash cave, Is also to be found in this hall. For many centuries all the drawings had been covered with a semi-transparent calcite crust. The expedition headed by the prominent archaeologist O.N.Bader cleaned the pictures of the horses in 1976.
The National Space Centre is a museum and educational resource covering the fields of space science and astronomy, along with a space research programme in partnership with the University of Leicester. It is located on the north side of the city in Belgrave, Leicester, England, next to the River Soar. Many of the exhibits, including upright rockets, are housed in a tower with minimal steel supports and a semi-transparent cladding of ETFE 'pillows' which has become one of Leicester's most recognisable landmarks.
The largest eggs are more elongate, being ; the smallest are more ovoid and are . All are semi- translucent, milky-white or opalescent when fresh, although some of the larger and more elongate eggs have a semi-transparent area at the smaller end. The opalescent lustre disappears in a few days and the eggs turn yellowish and later brown or black. The young appear to hatch in six to eight weeks, at this stage the spots on the body are barely present.
In 2017 InspecVision re The InspecVision 2D inspection system Planar is the world's fastest, using only a table, lights and a PC hundreds of thousands of measurements are taken in 0.2 seconds. There are no moving components and the measurements are taken using a very high resolution camera, which scans parts placed on a backlit glass surface. It can be used for inspection and reverse engineering of flat opaque and semi-transparent parts. The Planar system has been designed specifically for speed, accuracy and ease of use.
"Ray casting" implies that the light ray is following a straight path (which may include travelling through semi- transparent objects). The ray cast is a vector that can originate from the camera or from the scene endpoint ("back to front", or "front to back"). Sometimes the final light value is derived from a "transfer function" and sometimes it's used directly. Rough simulations of optical properties may be additionally employed: a simple calculation of the ray from the object to the point of view is made.
Physically, the artwork is a photograph of prints arranged to form a collage. The upper left region of the image contains various references to the natural world, such as the multiple images of green leaved trees and several superimposed images of mountains. Considering John's philosophy on life, it is plausible to draw that this arrangement is a reference to the Tree of life. In the lower left corner, the presence of tree roots and semi- transparent fallen leaves reinforces the idea of the Tree of life.
Iris scariosa is a plant species in the genus Iris, it is also in the subgenus Iris. It is a rhizomatous perennial, from the mountainsides of Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and China. It has sword-like, or sickle shaped, blue green or grey-green leaves, a short flowering stem, 3 or 4 membranous or semi- transparent flower bud leaves, 2 violet, reddish violet, lilac, blue-purple, or blue flowers in late spring, with yellow or white beards. It is cultivated as an ornamental plant in temperate regions.
The Vista line is a mainly transparent demonstrator version and the AL-star features and anodized aluminum body and cap and semi- transparent grip section. In addition to the fountain pen, the Safari, AL- star, LX and Vista lines are also available in a ballpoint, rollerball, and mechanical pencil configurations. In 2016, Lamy released a more expensive variant of their AL-star line called the LX. The Lamy LX comes in five colours all named after precious metals (with the exception of Marron (a special edition).
Four pairs of appendages are sensory and breathing organs (branchiae) at least in length. They are arranged along the upper and side ridges of the head, arising from the pair of feather-like nuchal organs which analyze chemical signals in the sea. The fifth pair of appendages are grooved and coiled feeding palps arising from below the mouth, which is located in the front-bottom corner of the head. Their internal anatomy is relatively visible from the outside since their outer body is semi- transparent.
Radiant heating and cooling ceiling panels provide a more efficient means of achieving thermal comfort, a green roof helps insulate the building and collects storm water, and a cogeneration plant provides additional power but recovers waste heat. The full-height atrium provides interior day lighting to the building core and the semi-transparent nature of the façade has allowed for seventy-five percent of the occupied spaces to be naturally lit. The total cost of the building was $166 million or $950 per sq ft.
Since different grains satisfy the Bragg condition at different angles, the sample is rotated to probe the complete sample structure. Crucial for 3DXRD is the idea to mimic a three- dimensional detector by positioning a number of two-dimensional detectors at different distances from the centre of rotation of the sample, and exposing these either simultaneously (many detectors are semi-transparent to hard X-rays) or at different times. At present (April 2017), a 3DXRD microscope is installed at the Materials Science beamline of the ESRF.
As the pinhole is made smaller, the image gets sharper, but the projected image becomes dimmer. With too small a pinhole, however, the sharpness worsens, due to diffraction. In practice, camera obscuras use a lens rather than a pinhole (as in a pinhole camera) because it allows a larger aperture, giving a usable brightness while maintaining focus. If the image is caught on a semi-transparent screen, it can be viewed from the back so that it is no longer reversed (but still upside- down).
One-way mirrors for upper-level observation deck viewing down into a classroom (University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire) A one-way mirror, also called two-way mirror (or one-way glass, half-silvered mirror, and semi-transparent mirror), is a reciprocal mirror that appears reflective on one side and transparent at the other. The perception of one-way transmission is achieved when one side of the mirror is brightly lit and the other side is dark. This allows viewing from the darkened side but not vice versa.
"Eye in the sky" cameras in casinos observe players The eye in the sky is a term given to casino and other commercial security closed circuit cameras. In casinos, they are positioned to monitor seats, tables, hallways, restaurants, and even elevators closely. The functional component is known as a pan–tilt–zoom camera, or a PTZ, an industry standard term. The PTZ camera is covered by a semi-transparent plastic globe which makes it nearly impossible to see which direction the camera is facing from a distance.
In 2014, near- infrared polymer solar cells based on a copolymer of naphthodithiophene diimide and bithiophene (PNDTI-BT-DT) were fabricated in combination with PTB7 as an electron donor. Both PNDTI-BT-DT and PTB7 formed a crystalline structure in the blend films similar to in the pristine films, leading to the efficient charge generation contributed from both polymers. Much research has been focused on developing a transparent top electrode for PSCs. However, a 2017 study explored optimizing the active layer of semi-transparent PSCs.
Thus, one approach to achieving a visibly transparent PSC is to modify the top electrode to make it more transparent. Materials such as ITO, ultra-thin metals, metal grids, graphene, and carbon nanotubes have been used to fabricate semi- transparent top electrodes. Yet, the performance of transparent PSCs have shown to be lacking when compared to their opaque electrode PSC counterparts. When the top electrode is made transparent, the cell's ability to trap the electromagnetic field in the absorber layer decreases, resulting in a low PCE.
Teams were advised to seek one of three specific books (titled Poltroons & Patriots, Official Histories and The American Flag: Of Stars and Stripes) each of which covered the final artifact. Team Air Force headed for the card catalogue, followed by Team Southie Boys. Team Air Force was the first to find the artifact, a leather-bound book detailing the history of The Star-Spangled Banner. Within the book were semi-transparent maps with chevrons which, when overlaid, marked the various destinations teams had previously visited.

Colourful basketry with a coiled construction is common in rural Ethiopia. The products have many uses, such as storing grains, seeds and food and being used as tables and bowls. The Muslim city of Harar is well known for its high quality basketry, and many craft products of the Muslim minority relate to wider Islamic decorative traditions.
Telechrome was the first all-electronic single-tube color television system. It was invented by well-known Scottish television engineer, John Logie Baird, who had previously made the first public television broadcast, as well as the first color broadcast using a pre-Telechrome system. Telechrome used two electron guns aimed at either side of a thin, semi-transparent mica sheet. One of the sides was covered in cyan phosphor and the other red-orange, producing a limited color gamut, but well suited to displaying skin tones.
The most typical color of uranium glass is pale yellowish-green, which in the 1930s led to the nickname Vaseline glass based on a perceived resemblance to the appearance (which was a yellow-green color) of Vaseline brand petroleum jelly as formulated and commercially sold at that time. Specialized collectors still define Vaseline glass as transparent or semi- transparent uranium glass in this specific color.Glickman, Jay L. and Fedosky, Terry, Yellow-Green Vaseline A Guide to the Magic Glass, Revised Edition, c. 1998, The Glass Press, Inc.
The forewings are blackish fuscous, with ochreous-yellow markings. There is a submedian streak from the base to two-fifths, posteriorly dilated. A small oblique wedge-shaped spot is found on the costa at one-fifth and there are two large rounded-triangular spots on the costa at one-third and two-thirds, and two larger spots in the dorsal half of the wing rather obliquely beyond these respectively. The hindwings are blackish fuscous, towards the base more thinly scaled and with several slender semi-transparent streaks.
Light would be directed through the LCD window and magnified onto a wall. The window was painted with a semi-transparent background and the black LCD display would block the light from passing through. This provided 'big screen' entertainment and was a novelty at the time. The visual design and 'animation' being projected from these game carts were somewhat reminiscent of Nintendo's popular Game & Watch series of electronic handheld game devices that consisted of a segmented LCD display being pre-printed with an overlay.
Inks used in color printing presses are semi-transparent and can be printed on top of each other to produce different hues. For example, green results from printing yellow and cyan inks on top of each other. However, a printing press cannot vary the amount of ink applied to particular picture areas except through "screening," a process that represents lighter shades as tiny dots, rather than solid areas, of ink. This is analogous to mixing white paint into a color to lighten it, except the white is the paper itself.
Although SEO counts as an artist, her works can also be seen as mixed media images. Usually a blank canvas is used to draw a preliminary design, which is then filled out by a large number of pieces of torn rice (mulberry or tetrapanax) paper pasted onto the canvas. Some of the paper used is printed especially for her in South Korea, especially the paper with patterns designed by herself. In the next step she applies thin and (semi-) transparent layers of paint to form the final image.
Cubanichthys cubensis has a cylindrical body which is slightly broader and taller in the anterior portion. They are a typical size for kiilifish, the males are while the females are slightly smaller. They are not colourful, the body being a mottled semi-transparent golden buff with a creamy white patch which starts behind the gill covers and forms an diagonal arch which reaches the anal fin and which covers the viscera. A series of horizontal light blue lines start at the gill covers and extend along the body to the caudal peduncle.
With regard to coloration, the fifth instars show marked difference in their ground colour: some being more brownish and some more greyish. Pupa: The process of pupation takes about half a day and resulted in a greenish spindle-shaped pupa, well- camouflaged among the pointed leaves of the host plant. Initially, they are semi-transparent but later they become more opaque. The pupa has veins and lines similar to that of the leaves of the host plant, all veins ending at the pointed lower end of the pupa.
The new Mini Toolbar is a small toolbar with basic formatting commands that appears within the document editing area, much like a context menu. When the mouse selects part of the text, Mini Toolbar appears close to selected text. It remains semi-transparent until the mouse pointer is hovered on it, to avoid obstructing what is underneath. Mini Toolbar can also be made to appear by right-clicking in the editing area or via key on keyboard, in which case it appears near the cursor, above or below the traditional context menu.
Elegy (1990) In 1972, Hart opened his own sculpture studio, to create original artwork, and execute commissioned pieces. Hart modeled his figurative style on the dramatic poses and sensuous expressions that he admired in the work of the Italian sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Many were cast in bronze, some were carved in marble or limestone, but especially after the success of Herself (1984), Hart focused more and more on developing entirely new media for sculpture, using transparent and semi-transparent acrylic materials.Paul Richard, "Frederick Hart's Heavenly Bodies," Washington Post, August 20, 2000, G1.
A kebaya is an Indonesian traditional blouse-dress combination that originated from the court of the Indonesian Kingdom in island of Java, and is traditionally worn by women in Indonesia and become a national dress. Kebaya is also used outside of Indonesia, like Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Southern Thailand, Cambodia and the southern part of the Philippines. Kebaya is described as women's upper long-sleeved clothes. It is sometimes made from sheer material such as silk, thin cotton or semi-transparent nylon or polyester, adorned with brocade or floral pattern embroidery.
Perspicuibacter marinus is general proposed novel species - a semi-transparent bacterium secluded from surface seawater of Muroto City, Kochi Prefecture, Japan, and description of Arenicellaceae family novel and Arenicellales ordinance novel. Phylogenetic analyses based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence show that strain 2-9T (5NBRC 110144T5KCTC 42196T) fell within the class of Gammaproteobacteria and was most closely related to the genus Arenicella. According to results of the study - 92.7–93.0% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities to type strains of species of this genus - of an unclassified order within this class.
He also used the new technique ( in Japanese) which creates panels of transparent or semi- transparent enamel. Enamel , linked by wires, are prepared on a copper surface which is then burned away with acid while the enamel itself is protected by lacquer. This was invented in France and came to Japan when Ando Jubei, one of the founders of the Ando Cloisonné Company, bought an enamel by André Fernand Thesmar at the Paris Exposition of 1900. Kawade analysed this piece to replicate and then further develop the technique.
Historically, a musician was required to draw his own staff lines (staves) onto blank paper. Eventually, staff paper was manufactured pre-printed with staves as a labor-saving technique. The musician could then write music directly onto the lines in pencil or ink. In the twentieth century, music staff paper was sometimes printed on vellum or onionskin—a durable, semi- transparent material that made it easier for the musician to correct mistakes and revise the work, and also made it possible to reproduce the manuscript through the ozalid process.
The use of shelters to improve germination and survival in spot seedings seeks to capture the benefits of greenhouse culture, albeit miniature. The Hakmet seed shelter, for instance, is a semi-transparent plastic cone 8 cm high, with openings of 7 cm diameter in the 7.5 cm diameter base and 17 mm diameter in the 24 mm diameter top.Lähde, F. and Tuohisaari, O. 1976. An ecological study on the effects of shelters on germination and germling development of Scotch pine, Norway spruce and Siberian larch. Comm. Inst. For. Reprint 88.1. 35 p.
Empire dress, 1800–1805, cotton and linen, Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York City) Women's dresses in the 19th century began to be classified by the time of day or purpose of the dress. High-waisted dresses were popular until around 1830. Early nineteenth century dresses in Russia were influenced by Classicism and were made of thin fabrics, with some semi-transparent. Elizabeth Vigée Le Brun wore these types of dresses with a short skirt (reaching to her ankles) when she lived in Russia between 1785 and 1801 and many Russian women copied her style.
Like any high end diopter this Walther diopter accepts adjustable diopter aperture and optical filter systems to ensure optimal sighting conditions for match shooters. The complementing globe front sight is mounted on dove tails on top of the barrel and has the possibility to easily insert various notch elements. Besides metal notch elements, plastic clear or semi transparent front sight elements of various diameters can also be mounted and quickly be exchanged. For shooters with suboptimal vision the optical foresight aid eagle-eye can be installed to aid their aiming.
Rothlind, p 7 A dendrochronological examination of the panel by doctor Peter Klein at the Institute für Holzbiologie in Hamburg determined that it is made of pine deals (Pinus silvestris), the annual rings of which date from various periods ranging from the 1480s to around 1618. The painting can therefore date no further back than around 1620. This is consistent with the year 1636 given on the frame and mentioned in the parish accounts.Rothlind, pp 12–13 The dye, covering a semi-transparent red-brownish bottom layer, is emulsion paint containing linseed oil.
Theo van Gogh Working with writer and director Theo van Gogh, Hirsi Ali wrote the script and provided the voice-over for Submission (2004),Submission, on Google Video 29 April 2005 a short film that criticised the treatment of women in Islamic society. Juxtaposed with passages from the Qur'an were scenes of actresses portraying Muslim women suffering abuse. An apparently nude actress dressed in a semi-transparent burqa was shown with texts from the Qur'an written on her skin. These texts are among those often interpreted as justifying the subjugation of Muslim women.
Especially during evening events the combination of these elements create an inimitable sign symbolizing the city of Konya. The semi transparent screen façade renders the characteristic conic shape and allows laser shows and the projection of images from outside and the inside as well. The stadium is designed as a one-tier- stadium with a formidable east and west stand – both have more than 60 rows – and will achieve a great atmosphere for the spectators, for instance the fantastic view for the VIP and the media from the west to the east stand.
The pellicle mirror of the Canon EOS RT A pellicle mirror (diminutive of pellis, a skin or film) is an ultra-thin, ultra-lightweight semi-transparent mirror employed in the light path of an optical instrument, splitting the light beam into two separate beams, both of reduced light intensity. Splitting the beam allows its use for multiple purposes simultaneously. The thinness of the mirror practically eliminates beam or image doubling due to a non- coincident weak second reflection from the nominally non-reflecting surface, a problem with mirror-type beam splitters.
The filing cabinet contains letters, drawings and creations made by the viewers. It has a weathered, wooden-looking exterior, with Gallifreyan text on the front and is designed to look like the Doctor's TARDIS. It also has the properties of a TARDIS because it appears to be bigger on the inside (however, it is quite obviously fed through the wall; made ever more obvious by the fact that the wall behind it is semi- transparent). If a piece of work is featured on the show, its author receives a Totally Doctor Who branded mug.
He can also release "ghost-grabbers" which are thick, semi- transparent films which adhere to a victim. Levins rides atop a one-man hovercraft with an electric motor powered by a high density lithium rechargeable battery. Daniel Berkhart used the same weapons as the previous incarnations of Jack O'Lantern, along with chemical weapons that cause psychedelic and mind-bending hallucinations. His accomplice Maguire Beck was an expert designer of special effects devices and stage illusions, a master hypnotist, and skilled in chemistry and robotics, including a lifelike robotic black cat.
Floating row cover on a field in Norfolk. In agriculture and gardening, row cover is any transparent or semi-transparent, flexible material, like fabric or plastic sheeting, used as a protective covering to shield plants, usually vegetables, primarily from the undesirable effects of cold and wind, and also from insect damage. Article marked reviewed by publisher in 2012. In addition to reducing the drying effect of wind, row cover can provide a limited amount of warming by the same effect that cold frames, greenhouses, and polytunnels produce, creating a microclimate for the plants.
The structure, provided by SACO Technologies in conjunction with PRG Nocturne, featured LED video screens on the two largest faces measuring wide by tall, each one comprising 240 SACO V-Thru semi-transparent video panels. The panels' cabling was contained within the support rails, which were placed apart. An interior catwalk between the video screens, accessible by a kinetic staircase, allowed the band members to perform amidst the video projections. The entire structure was supported by eight Tait Nav Hoists that could vertically move it by in 30 seconds.
Canon, Nikon and Pentax have all developed digital SLR cameras (DSLRs) using the same lens mounts as on their respective film SLR cameras. Konica Minolta did the same, and after having bought Konica Minolta's camera division in 2006 Sony continue using the Minolta AF lens mount in their DSLRs, including cameras built around a semi-transparent fixed mirror. Samsung builds DSLRs based on the Pentax lens mount. Olympus, on the other hand, chose to create a new digital-only Four Thirds System SLR standard, adopted later by Panasonic and Leica.
The colour of the colonies then darkens as time goes on, changing from white to brown to black - the color of maturity. The black color is largely due to the dark-coloured spores that form as the fungi matures. Ascomata of the fungi is a submerged globose cleistothecia color dark brown and is usually 60-200 μm in diameter The ascomata of the fungi is encased with a brown, semi-transparent, pseudoparenchymatous, double membraned textura epidermoidea - thin and tightly packed peridium. The peridium is also smooth walled and not bristly.
A woman wearing jelly shoes Jelly shoes or jellies are shoes made of PVC plastic. Jelly shoes come in a large variety of brands and colors and the material is frequently infused with glitter. Its name refers to the semi- transparent materials with a jelly-like sheen. The shoes became a fad in the early 1980s, when a pair could frequently be purchased for less than one US dollar. Like many other fashion trends from the 1980s, jellies have been revived a number of times since the late 1990s.
Centrolene savagei is a small glassfrog: adult females measure about in snout–vent length and adult males in snout–vent length, It has a wide head with a rounded snout and bulging eyes, and a slender body. The fingers and toes are tipped with adhesive pads. The body and legs are liberally covered with rounded whitish warts. The dorsal surface is bright green speckled with white or pale green, which makes it well-camouflaged on leaves, and the underparts are white and semi-transparent; the bones are green.
Reaching a standard length of , the Port Jackson glassfish has a silver and semi-transparent body and head covered with large cycloid scales. It has a short deeply-notched dorsal fin and forked tail fin. It is slimmer than the related A. marianus—its body depth is 33 to 38% of standard length compared to the latter species' body depth of 37 to 44% of standard length. The Port Jackson glassfish also has a lateral line running the length of its body, while that of its relative is partial.
Mischtechnik can be a method of painting with egg tempera, used in combination with oil based paints and resins to render a luminous, resonant realism. The egg yolk of the egg tempera is a naturally occurring emulsion of water and oil. As such, the old masters found ways of extending the natural advantages of its emulsion to create lean, siccative, smoothly transitional, semi-transparent layers of paint. The visual effects created by working in the mixed technique essentially rely upon the phenomenon of light refracting through many subsequent layers of paint.
Proceedings of the Royal Entomological Society of London Series B 36 (1/2): 17-29. The wingspan is 30–35 mm. The forewings are white and semi-transparent, crossed by five grey bands, all nearly parallel to the outer margin, and marked on the veins with darker grey dashes. There are two antemedian lines, of which the basal is very obscure, and one postmedian line, as well as two submarginal lines, the outer of which is a lunulate-dentate line, with the teeth touching the grey marginal line.
The exterior of the earlier generations of Surface (2012 tablet, Pro, and Pro 2) is made of VaporMg magnesium alloy giving a semi-glossy black durable finish that Microsoft calls "dark titanium". Originally, the design of Surface was to feature a full "VaporMg" design, but the production models ditched this and went with a "VaporMg" coating. Later devices moved towards a matte gray finish showing the actual magnesium color through the semi-transparent top coating. The Surface Laptop is available in four colors: platinum, graphite gold, burgundy, and cobalt blue.
Like any other IDE, it includes a code editor that supports syntax highlighting and code completion using IntelliSense for variables, functions, methods, loops, and LINQ queries. IntelliSense is supported for the included languages, as well as for XML, Cascading Style Sheets, and JavaScript when developing web sites and web applications. Autocomplete suggestions appear in a modeless list box over the code editor window, in proximity of the editing cursor. In Visual Studio 2008 onwards, it can be made temporarily semi-transparent to see the code obstructed by it.
Behind the partitions is an enfilade of rooms, filled with calligraphy, artworks, and mirrors. On both floors, the emperor had a set of private rooms and thrones, each filled with natural light, due to the semi- transparent silk screens, which also appear on both levels. On the western half of Juanqinzhai is the "Theater Room." In this section, a small pavilion equipped with a stage is surrounded by a bamboo fence and is faced by another two-floored viewing platform, from which the emperor could watch theatrical performances.
She uses the plane to fly into outer space, and frequently transports Etta Candy and the Holliday Girls, Steve Trevor, and others. During the 1950s, the plane becomes a jet, and is often shown swooping over Lt. Prince's office; she strips out of her uniform at super speed and bounds to the plane. Though the plane was depicted as semi-transparent for the reader's convenience, in-story dialogue indicated that it actually was completely invisible, or at least able to become so as the need arose.DC Comics Presents... #41.
Pouncing is an art technique used for transferring an image from one surface to another. It is similar to tracing, and is useful for creating copies of a sketch outline to produce finished works. A pounce wheel, also known as a tracing wheel Pouncing has been a common technique for centuries, used to create copies of portraits and other works that would be finished as oil paintings, engravings, and so on. The most common method involves laying semi- transparent paper over the original image, then tracing along the lines of the image by creating pricked marks on the top sheet of paper.
Cryptoteuthis brevibracchiata is a bell-shaped octopus with a semi-gelatinous, semi-transparent body, except for the dark tips of the oral web and the tipes of the fins. The fins are small and round, and their length is equal to half the width of the head. It has short arms, each with a single row of small, broad suckers and with a double row of cirri which are of moderate length, with each cirrus just longer than the diameter of the suckers. The longest arm has 48 suckers and the web is around half the length of the arms.
The Neon blue-eye is a small fish, attaining a total length of . It is a sexually dimorphic species in which the males are colourful being a metallic blue on their backs, dotted with small black spots, a narrow black stripe along the centre of their flanks separates the blue back from the translucent to yellowish white lower half of their body. There is a small yellowish patch to the rear of the first dorsal fin and dusky leading edges to the fins. The females are plainer being semi-transparent silvery-grey with translucent fins and a white belly.
Maki's look was inspired in part by in Diane Lane in the film Streets of Fire. She is young, well endowed woman usually clad in a red female ninja garb (her alternate palette in Final Fight 2 changes her outfit color from red to blue), but designed more in mind for function than flair, showing only her neck and some of her cleavage; beneath she wears a semi-transparent vestAs shown in Final Fight 2's introduction when she phone calls Mike Haggar. and sports arm and leg guards with small boots. Her height is 162 cm and she weights 53 kg.
The central single-leaf door has twelve lights, while those either side of it have eight lights in each leaf. All these feature textured and semi-transparent glass, while the rectangular fanlights are clear glass. The 1935 core is constructed with solid brick walls on the ground floor and cavity brick walls on the upper level, reflected in the varying brickwork bonds employed on the south-eastern side facade still visible: English bond below with headers picked out by dark colouring and stretcher bond above. Also on this facade a continuous concrete lintel separates the levels.
In early 2011, RMW commissioned one of Mumbai’s largest indoor sound stages. In March 2011, RMW received a patent called "Obsidian" for creating a method for removing semi-transparent artifacts from digital images caused by contaminants in the camera’s optical path. This process received a significant amount of recognition within the entertainment industry, resulting in RMW receiving a Scientific and Technical Oscar from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.Reliance MediaWorks’ ‘Lowry Process’ wins Technical Oscar, Dear Cinema, 10 January 2012 RMW delved deeper into 3D film consulting, providing support during film shoots and advising filmmakers on 3D image alignments.
In this piece, Hamilton photographs numerous different people of all different races and ethnicity through a semi- transparent membrane or window. The only time the view could see an image clearly was when the person would touch the membrane. On two opposite sides, Hamilton would instruct the subject to move how she wanted, solely relying on her voice to instruct them. Hamilton feels as if this relates to the medical field in always waiting for answers, check ups, and having a semi blinded sense of what is going on and just relying on a voice, no physical person.
Ostorhinchus neotes, the mini cardinalfish, is a species of ray-finned fish, a cardinalfish, from the family Apogonidae. It is found in the western central Pacific Ocean from the Philippines south to Australia and has been reported from Tonga. It is a small cardinalfish with a small semi-transparent body which has a black stripe along its flanks underneath the skin, and a large, black spot at the base of the caudal fin. It occurs in lagoons and outer reefs where the water is relatively clear and normally where there are soft corals or gorgonian fans.
The Barbara Dex Award is an annually awarded, fan-voted accolade for the "worst dressed" artists in the Eurovision Song Contest. It was created by Edwin van Thillo and Rob Paardekam, the founders of Dutch Eurovision fansite The House of Eurovision, in 1997. It was named after Belgian singer Barbara Dex, who represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 wearing a self-made, semi-transparent dress. According to William Lee Adams of Wiwibloggs, Dex wearing her own costume had her ending up "looking like a lampshade", a feature that eventually led to the award's inception.
Australian TV networks hide all of their DOGs during advertisement breaks. They only reappear during the promotion for a programme that will be shown on the station and are not shown during any other advertisement material. At times, networks will superimpose a semi-transparent watermark immediately adjacent to their DOG to advertise an upcoming special event that the network will be broadcasting (e.g. Network Ten superimposed an advertisement for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics on their primary channel (Ten), 10 Boss, and 10 Peach as they were to be the Australian broadcaster of the event), or to advertise a popular upcoming programme.
Dual Layer recording allows DVD-R and DVD+R discs to store significantly more data, up to 8.5 GB, per disc, compared with 4.7 GB for single-layer discs. DVD-R DL was developed for the DVD Forum by Pioneer Corporation, DVD+R DL (formally known as Double Layer) was developed for the DVD+RW Alliance by Philips and Mitsubishi Kagaku Media (MKM). A Dual Layer disc differs from its usual DVD counterpart by employing a second physical layer within the disc itself. The drive with Dual Layer capability accesses the second layer by shining the laser through the first semi-transparent layer.
Typical modern target shooting diopters offer windage and elevation correction in increments of at (which equals 0.02 to 0.04 mrad or ≈ 0.069 to 0.172 MOA). Some ISSF (Olympic) shooting events require this precision level for sight adjustment since the score of the top competitors (last) shots series is expressed in 0.1s of scoring ring points. High end target shooting diopters normally accept accessories like rubber eye shields, adjustable diopter aperture (typically between and optical filter systems for the aiming eye and semi-transparent occluders for the non-aiming eye to ensure optimal sighting conditions for match shooters.
Steel's user interface (UI) is intended to be more "touch friendly" than that of Android's default browser, and thus emphasizes ease of use on a touch screen. Back, forward, zoom, and bookmark-related buttons are all on the bottom toolbar. A URL-entry box is on the top toolbar, and beside it is a refresh/stop button, which displays if a page is fully loaded or still loading, respectively. Both toolbars are only shown if "pulled out" by two semi-transparent handles at the top and bottom of the display, and after a short period of not being used will hide themselves again.
Various stories from the book have individually been featured in the O. Henry Prize Stories, The Kenyon Review and Best of Zoetrope periodicals. Holt's book crosses a number of genres, placing several short stories in outer space under a Lovecraftian science fiction theme, while others are highly minimal in setting or consistently focus on the narrator's voice. Nearly all of the works exhibit an element of suspense and sometimes horror as well as an experimental or absurdist tendency. The book's cover art, a semi-transparent detail on a dark blue background, was produced by Ruth Martin.
A typical pop filter is composed of one or more layers of acoustically semi-transparent material such as woven nylon stretched over a circular frame, and often includes a clamp and a flexible mounting bracket. Metal pop filters use a fine mesh metal screen in place of the nylon. Some studio condenser microphones have an integral pop filter built into their design. An improvised pop shield, functionally identical to the professional units, can be made with material from tights or stockings stretched over a kitchen sieve, embroidery hoop or a loop of wire such as a bent clothes hanger.
It refers to material physics as distinct from psychophysics. For the concept of specific intensity, the line of propagation of radiation lies in a semi-transparent medium which varies continuously in its optical properties. The concept refers to an area, projected from the element of source area into a plane at right angles to the line of propagation, and to an element of solid angle subtended by the detector at the element of source area.Planck, M. (1914) The Theory of Heat Radiation, second edition translated by M. Masius, P. Blakiston's Son and Co., Philadelphia, pages 13-15.
Working from a script written by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, van Gogh created the 10-minute short film Submission. The movie deals with violence against women in some Islamic societies; it tells the stories, using visual shock tactics, of four abused Muslim women. The title, Submission, is a translation of the word "Islam" into English. In the film, women's naked bodies, with texts from the Qur'an written on them in henna, in an allusion to traditional wedding rituals in some cultures, are veiled with semi-transparent shrouds as the women kneel in prayer, telling their stories as if they are speaking to Allah.
Twenty-five percent of the light from the lens' central image was siphoned through a semi-transparent reflex mirror and reflected off a piggy-backed secondary mirror to the AF module. In the module, beam splitter mirrors sent the light to fall on a two row, segmented, linear metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) silicon sensor. A microcomputer analyzed the sensor's subject contrast readings. Modern AF SLRs use similar, though much evolved, AF hardware; however, their AF software no longer analyze contrast. To autofocus, the AF function had to be switched ON on both the ME F and 35 mm–70 mm AF Zoom lens.
18th-century Delftware showing Chinese scenes Earthenware pottery including tin-glazed pottery, Victorian majolica, Delftware and faience, is made of clays or earths that give a soft paste. Earthenware is opaque, with a relatively coarse texture, while porcelain is semi-transparent, with a fine texture of minute crystals suspended in a transparent glassy ground. Industrial manufacturers of earthenware pottery biscuit-fire the body to the maturing range of the clay, typically , then apply glaze and glaze-fire the piece at a lower temperature of about . With very vitreous (glass-like) bodies the manufacturer may spray on the glaze.
There is a small black dash from the basal third of the costa, below and beyond this and occupying about the middle of the cell is a broad ill-defined patch of blackish scales. There is a more or less obscure shading of black scales on the middle of the costa, as well as a black dash just before the apical third of the costa, and below it, extending to the dorsum, an irregular, ill-defined black line. A faint dusting of black scales is found near the outer margin of the wing. The hindwings are very pale, semi- transparent whitish-fuscous.Proc.
The nanometre is often used to express dimensions on an atomic scale: the diameter of a helium atom, for example, is about 0.06 nm, and that of a ribosome is about 20 nm. The nanometre is also commonly used to specify the wavelength of electromagnetic radiation near the visible part of the spectrum: visible light ranges from around 400 to 700 nm.Hewakuruppu, Y., et al., Plasmonic " pump – probe " method to study semi-transparent nanofluids, Applied Optics, 52(24):6041-6050 The ångström, which is equal to 0.1 nm, was formerly used for these purposes, but is still used in other fields.
Reviews characterize this work as pristine and unsettling, photographically precise, and radically unstable like "optical obstacle courses"; Bay Area critic DeWitt Cheng describes Schulz's depiction of space as "episodic and contradictory, and impossible to grasp as a totality […] fractured, like our consciousness." In her "The Impossibility of Keeping Borders" (2011–2) and "Incursion of Otherness" (2013–4) series, Schulz explored crinkled textures and torn, irregular edges to a greater degree, while continuing to address historic upheavals like the Arab Spring through puzzling juxtapositions of desolate landscapes, buildings with semi- transparent walls, and elements such as miniature rowboats, beds, and penguins.

Impression, abrasion, reprinting, reduction are pseudo-objective processes that resemble scientific production methods in the infusion of chance and methodology, subjectivity and objectivity. Pastel colours are dabbed on paper then gently lifted off, their image detached onto gauze impregnated with glue, the colour particles sticking to it like delicate pollen. In the milky-white of the semi-transparent base mass, the detached pigments float like preciously preserved spolia and spores, sprinkled like stars over the universe of the paper. Imperceptibly yet inexorably their blaze expands the sfumato-white background into an all-encompassing space which attains cosmic dimensions and spans light years.
However, the interior structure of each element is not visible in this mode of operation. Surface rendering is limited in that it will display only surfaces that meet a threshold density, and will display only the surface that is closest to the imaginary viewer. In volume rendering, transparency, colors and shading are used to allow a better representation of the volume to be shown in a single image. For example, the bones of the pelvis could be displayed as semi-transparent, so that, even at an oblique angle, one part of the image does not conceal another.
The Computer Originated World itself is a semi-transparent blue globe with golden continents and gold "BBC1" legend located below the globe in a font similar to that used in the early days of the BBC. The globe revolved at a steady pace throughout, and had the effect of a spotlight added to the surface. The continents were placed in such a way that the continents appeared to float on the water. The caption had the option of displaying the legend 'Ceefax 170' and later 'Ceefax 888' in reference to the subtitles available with the programme.
Art pottery was made by some 200 studios and small factories across the country, with especially strong centers of production in Ohio (the Cowan, Lonhuda, Owens, Roseville, Rookwood, and Weller potteries) and Massachusetts (the Dedham, Grueby, Marblehead, and Paul Revere potteries). Most of the potteries were forced out of business by the economic pressures of competition from commercial mass-production companies as well as the advent of World War I followed a decade later by the Great Depression. Professional grade cameras are faster, with speeds up to ten frames per second (fps). The first 35 mm SLR to achieve such a shooting speed was Nikon's F High Speed Motor Drive camera, first developed for the 1971 Chicago Photo Expo with 7 fps. To enable this speed and allow the photographer to more easily track the moving subject, this camera used a fixed, semi- transparent pellicle mirror instead of a moving mirror. Later special Canon models used similar mechanisms to achieve such speeds, while cameras with moving mirrors reached approximately five frames per second by the 1980s.
The forewings are dark fuscous, in males with a roundish impression beneath the costa at two-fifths, containing a tuft of whitish-ochreous scales from the upper margin, covered normally by a flap of long fuscous scales from the anterior margin. The extreme costal edge is ochreous whitish on the posterior three-fifths. The hindwings are dark fuscous, somewhat thinly scaled towards the base, with indications of two or three semi-transparent streaks, in males a more distinct pale suffused streak from the base through the disc to beyond the middle.Transactions of the Entomological Society of London.
PHOTOMETEORS, by Jesús Martínez-Frías If parts of clouds contain small water droplets or ice crystals of similar size, their cumulative effect is seen as colors. The cloud must be optically thin, so that most rays encounter only a single droplet. Iridescence is therefore mostly seen at cloud edges or in semi-transparent clouds, while newly forming clouds produce the brightest and most colorful iridescence. When the particles in a thin cloud are very similar in size over a large extent, the iridescence takes on the structured form of a corona, a bright circular disk around the Sun or Moon surrounded by one or more colored rings.
Such semi-transparent sheets also strongly reflect infrared light, making them useful as infrared (radiant heat) shields in visors of heat-resistant suits, and in sun-visors for spacesuits. Gold is a good conductor of heat and electricity. Gold has a density of 19.3 g/cm3, almost identical to that of tungsten at 19.25 g/cm3; as such, tungsten has been used in counterfeiting of gold bars, such as by plating a tungsten bar with gold,Willie, Jim (18 November 2009) "Zinc Dimes, Tungsten Gold & Lost Respect ". Kitco or taking an existing gold bar, drilling holes, and replacing the removed gold with tungsten rods.
He is interested in drawing the viewer into an attraction-repulsion feeding on the same part of the colors while the gummy bears draw the viewer in and the organs and tattoos push the viewer away. The production process involves a monochromatic underpainting while leaving the white of the canvas exposed for certain figures. While his Dutch Masters golden age paintings might try to glorify that period it is clear to him that the richness of materials in those paintings and the painting themselves represent colonial exploitation. He starts with underpaintings and then over paints with a semi transparent color, as was developed by Titian.
Semi-transparent orthographic projection, centered on 40° N, 40° W, using shoreline data from GSHHG ("crude level") GSHHG (Global Self-consistent, Hierarchical, High-resolution Geography Database; formerly Global Self- consistent, Hierarchical, High-resolution Shoreline Database (GSHHS)) is a high-resolution shoreline data set amalgamated from two data bases (the CIA world database WDBII, and the World Vector Shoreline database) in the public domain. The data have undergone extensive processing and are free of internal inconsistencies such as erratic points and crossing segments. The shorelines are constructed entirely from hierarchically arranged closed polygons. The four-level hierarchy is as follows: seashore, lakes, islands within lakes, ponds within islands within lakes.
A fog display, fog screen, vapor screen or vapor display is a system that uses haze machines or water vapor to create a semi-transparent wall, or "curtain" of suspended particles which trapped in a thin sheet (Laminar Flow) of air and are illuminated by a projector, in order to produce a display whose images seem to float in mid air. Several commercial systems exist, such as FogScreen, Displair and Heliodisplay. There is also an open-source variant being developed called Hoverlay IIHoverlay II github pageMakertum Hoverlay II device This system can be expanded using multiple projectors to create a three- dimensional image, thus becoming a volumetric 3D display.
Simple Kutubaru kebaya (square collar) worn by a Javanese woman in Yogyakarta ;Collars: In the aspect of collar or neck cut, there are two main varieties; the V shaped collar (Javanese, Kartini, Balinese, and Encim or Peranakan) and the square collar cut (Kutubaru). The Sundanese and modern kebaya has U shaped collar edged with brocade and often decorated with sequins. Modern kebaya also might apply various shapes and curves of collars. ;Fabrics: In fabrics aspect, the blouse known as baju kebaya may be of two main forms: the transparent or semi-transparent straighter cut blouse of Java, Bali, or the more plain and modest kebaya of Sumatra and Malaya.
Durham21's Ian Church covered the next gig on 10 March at the Metro Radio Arena. He reported that for the encore, a large semi- transparent sheet was dropped in front of the stage, to project the animation. He said that it was "surprising" the band chose to play the "practically unknown" song, but reported that "it somehow managed to capture those watching" but a few fans were left complaining about the song choice. Journal Live also covered the concert, with Helen Dalby writing that it was "interesting" and "different" for the band to play the song, but she wasn't "entirely sure it quite worked".
The concentric circle alignment principle is used for precise aiming at round targets The use of round rear and front sighting elements for aiming at round targets, like used in ISSF match shooting, takes advantage of the natural ability of the eye and brain to easily align concentric circles (circles all having a common centre). For optimal aiming and comfort the shooter should focus the aiming eye on the front sighting element. To avoid eye fatigue and improve balance the non-aiming eye should be kept open. The non-aiming eye can be blocked from seeing distractions by mounting a semi- transparent occluder to the diopter.
FVWM-Crystal offers user interface integration for some terminal emulators like xterm, aterm and urxvt (rxvt-unicode), for a tray system such as stalonetray or trayer-srg, for various music players - among them Audacious, MPD, Quod Libet, XMMS and XMMS2 - and for the video/audio player MPlayer, to the point where it can control these components. FVWM- Crystal makes use of semi-transparency. Almost everything on the default desktop is semi-transparent. By additionally installing a utility program such as transset-df the semi-transparency can be switched on or off via pressing a determined key of the keyboard, being chosen in accordance with user's demands.
From the left a huge Lambeg drum, strapped to its unseen owner's chest, juts out across the body; but it has been rendered semi-transparent so that the outline shape of the police officer can still be seen. On one level this drum functions as a musical instrument, the rhythmic 'keeper of the beat'. But the unhinged arm, wielder of a timpani-like drum-stick, indicates not only the wardrum call, but also the potential of the drum-stick as a weapon. On another level the drum is like a Jasper Johns target with its concentric circles of black, white, black and white again for the heart of the target.
A pixel in an IMOD-based display consists of one or more subpixels that are individual microscopic interferometric cavities similar in operation to Fabry–Pérot interferometers (etalons), and the scales in butterfly wings. While a simple etalon consists of two half-silvered mirrors, an IMOD comprises a reflective membrane which can move in relation to a semi-transparent thin film stack. With an air gap defined within this cavity, the IMOD behaves like an optically resonant structure whose reflected color is determined by the size of the airgap. Application of a voltage to the IMOD creates electrostatic forces which bring the membrane into contact with the thin film stack.
The process was described in 1850 by John Mercer, who treated cotton with solutions of 110–125°Tw sulfuric acid, at room temperature, followed by washing. Mercer observed that the treated fabric was soft like fine wool when treated at 110°Tw, shrank and stiffened at 114°Tw, or shrank, stiffened, and became semi-transparent from 116–125°Tw. In general, treating indefinitely with concentrations below 110°Tw (64%) only swells and shrinks the fabric, while higher concentrations produce the stiff, translucent parchment-like effect in a few seconds, with some loss of tensile strength. Textile makers have combined sulfuric acid treatment with other processes to achieve different effects.

In only a few seconds they expand from thumb-sized semi-transparent wafers to white fluffy crackers, much like popcorn, as water bound to the starch expands as it turns into steam. If left in the open air for more than a few hours (depending on humidity), they start to soften and become chewy and are therefore ideally consumed within a few hours of being fried. Storing the crackers in a low humidity environment or an airtight container will preserve the crispness. Prawn crackers of premium quality are aromatic even without additives such as monosodium glutamate (MSG) and artificial prawn flavourings to enhance the smell and taste.
He was then chosen as the messenger of the youth organization because of his young age and his family background. But the hidden activities of the Tudeh party and the affiliated organizations did not last long and from 1951, the activities slowly became semi-transparent. In addition to this, the leaders of the Tudeh and the youth organization created the "Iranians in favor of Peace", "National Organization in the Struggle against the Anglo-Iranian Oil Corporation", "Democratic Youth Organizations", and the "Student Organization of Tehran". Jazani began his activities in the "Student Organization of Tehran" in 1951–1952 and was initially responsible for a small group.
Iridescence is an optical phenomenon of surfaces in which hue changes with the angle of observation and the angle of illumination. It is often caused by multiple reflections from two or more semi-transparent surfaces in which phase shift and interference of the reflections modulates the incidental light (by amplifying or attenuating some frequencies more than others). The thickness of the layers of the material determines the interference pattern. Iridescence can for example be due to thin-film interference, the functional analogue of selective wavelength attenuation as seen with the Fabry–Pérot interferometer, and can be seen in oil films on water and soap bubbles.
The name anhydrite was given by A. G. Werner in 1804, because of the absence of water of crystallization, as contrasted with the presence of water in gypsum. Some obsolete names for the species are muriacite and karstenite; the former, an earlier name, being given under the impression that the substance was a chloride (muriate). A peculiar variety occurring as contorted concretionary masses is known as tripe-stone, and a scaly granular variety, from Volpino, near Bergamo, in Lombardy, as vulpinite; the latter is cut and polished for ornamental purposes. A semi-transparent light blue-grey variety from Peru is referred to by the trade name angelite.
By 1985, computer graphics technology had progressed sufficiently that on 18 February the mechanical mirror globe was retired in favour of the new "Computer Originated World", or 'COW', which showed a semi- transparent blue globe with golden continents and gold "BBC1". It was created by the BBC graphics and computer departments with work starting on it in 1983, following the success of the electronic BBC2 ident and the clocks. The COW globe went down well with the public, and changed the perception of the channel. Also, for the first time, holding slides, trailers and promotions included the BBC1 golden logo, bringing the brand together.
The Sony SLT design features a pellicle mirror which allows light to strike both the digital image sensor (parallel to the lens mount, behind mirror) and phase-detection autofocus sensor (perpendicular to the mount) at all times. Single-lens translucent (SLT) is a Sony proprietary designation for Sony Alpha cameras which employ a pellicle mirror, electronic viewfinder, and phase- detection autofocus system. They employ the same Minolta A-mount as Sony Alpha DSLR cameras. Sony SLT cameras have a semi-transparent fixed mirror which diverts a portion of incoming light to a phase-detection autofocus sensor, while the remaining light strikes a digital image sensor.
In March 2015, the company unveiled HUDWAY Glass to address the problem of distracted driving. HUDWAY Glass is a universal vehicle accessory that turns any smartphone into a head-up display for any car; it works with any apps that support HUD mode, including HUDWAY's own. Affixed to the dashboard in drivers' line of sight, HUDWAY Glass is equipped with a semi-transparent glass that reflects navigation information off of drivers' cell phones display or screen and allows to see the road clearly nevertheless. All that is needed is to launch any HUD-based app (navigation, speedometer, trip information) and place the phone on the cradle of the device.
Performers could enter the stage from behind the screens, from below (via several trap doors) and from above (via an elaborate system of motorized lifts). Two semi-transparent screens could slide out in front of the stage to turn both sides of the stage into a massive projection surface, roughly the equivalent in width of four IMAX screens. Unlike most other Cirque du Soleil shows, where the musicians are situated to the sides or the far upstage area and are frequently hidden from view, Delirium's six musicians were often in plain view, and could be seen interacting with the other performers and various stage elements.
Melinda Wyatt was opening a gallery in the building next door to his former work space and invited Irwin to create an installation." :"He cleaned out the large rectangular room, adjusted the skylights, painted the walls an even white, and then knocked out the wall facing the street, replacing it with a sheer, semi- transparent white scrim. The room seemed to change its aspect with the passing day: people came and sat on the opposite curb, watching, sometimes for hours at time." :"The piece was up for two weeks in one of the more derelict beachfront neighborhoods of Los Angeles: no one so much as laid a hand on it.
Some designs apply cryptographic hash functions such as MD5, SHA-1, or RIPEMD-160 or even a CRC function to all or part of the bit stream, and then use the output as the random bit stream. This is attractive, partly because it is relatively fast. Many physical phenomena can be used to generate bits that are highly biased, but each bit is independent from the others. A Geiger counter (with a sample time longer than the tube recovery time) or a semi-transparent mirror photon detector both generate bit streams that are mostly "0" (silent or transmission) with the occasional "1" (click or reflection).
A strange man stuck in a desert wakes from his coma and goes in search of water. He discovers a lush green forest, alive with plants and animals the likes of which he could never have dreamt of. He finds a watersnake (a bizarre creature that is a snake with a human hand as its head; is made of a semi-transparent fluid; has the ability to float in air) that has been captured by a giant plant that resembles a venus flytrap, and rescues the strange creature from its clutches. In return, the creature reveals to him the secret place in the forest where water can be found.
Starting with version 1.4 of the PDF standard (Adobe Acrobat version 5), transparency (including translucency) is supported. Transparency in PDF files allows creators to achieve various effects, including adding shadows to objects, making objects semi-transparent and having objects blend into each other or into text. PDF supports many different blend modes, not just the most common averaging method, and the rules for compositing many overlapping objects allow choices (such as whether a group of objects are blended before being blended with the background, or whether each object in turn is blended into the background). PDF transparency is a very complex model, its original specification by Adobe being over 100 pages long.
Shortly thereafter, the telepathic capacities of Wonder Woman's tiara allow her to summon it, often to hover or swoop by the War Department, and she would exit on a rope ladder. She uses the plane to fly into outer space, and frequently transports Etta Candy and the Holliday Girls, Steve Trevor, or others. During the 1950s, the plane became a jet, and was often shown swooping over Lt. Prince's office; she stripped out of her uniform at super speed and would bound to the plane. Though the Plane was depicted as semi-transparent for the reader's convenience, in-story dialogue indicated that it actually was completely invisible, or at least able to become so as the need arose.
When three different Trombe wall facades with single glass, double glass, and an integrated semi-transparent PV module are compared in hot and humid climate, the single glass provides the highest solar radiation gain due to its higher solar heat gain efficiency. However, it is recommended to use the single glass with a shutter for the evening and night times, to offset its heat losses. High transmission glazing maximizes solar gains of the Trombe wall while allowing to recognize the dark brick, natural stones, water containers, or another attractive thermal mass system behind the glazing as well. However, from an aesthetics perspective, sometimes it is not desirable to distinguish the black thermal mass.
Many of his larger pieces were carved in Italian marble or limestone, or cast in bronze. During the later period of his career, Hart explored themes of beauty and spirituality, consciousness and identity, sculpting in transparent and semi-transparent acrylic materials using a process he patented. Strongly influenced by the dramatic poses of Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Anna Hyatt Huntington, as well as the naturalism of Augustus Saint-Gaudens and Daniel Chester French,Homan Potterton, "Metamorphosis: Stone Carver to Artist" in Frederick Hart: Sculptor (Hudson Hills Press, 1994), p. 19. Hart's style was also shaped by that of Auguste Rodin,The Emerging Flame: The Work and Philosophy of Frederick E. Hart (Frederick E. Hart Sculpture Group, 1989).
The PC, PlayStation and Saturn versions also contain alternate versions of Jax, Kung Lao, Kano and Raiden as they appeared in the first two titles. Contrarily to MKII Raiden and Baraka, these versions of the characters did not get proper running animations and just feature a sped-up version of their walk animation when they try to run. Two new secret characters appear as well, depending on the version of the game. Most versions have Chameleon, a semi-transparent ninja who rapidly switches between all the other male ninjas (Classic Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Noob Saibot, Human Smoke, Rain, Reptile, and Ermac) during combat, portrayed by John Turk (who also portrayed unmasked Sub-Zero and Shang Tsung).
In the upright cabinets, the game graphics are generated on a hidden CRT monitor and reflected toward the player using a semi-transparent mirror, behind which is mounted a plastic cutout of a moon bolted against a painted starry background. The backdrop is visible through the mirror and thus appears "behind" the graphics. Both Taito's and Midway's first Space Invaders versions had black-and-white graphics with a transparent colored overlay using strips of orange and green cellophane over certain portions of the screen to add color to the image. Later Japanese releases used a rainbow-colored cellophane overlay, and these were eventually followed by versions with a color monitor and an electronically-generated color overlay.
The single pickup guitar was first manufactured in March of 1950, and made its commercial debut as the Esquire in Don Randall's RTEC Spring catalogue of that year.. While the guitar pictured in the catalog was painted black with a white pickguard, later Esquires produced at the time were painted semi-transparent blonde acetate lacquer with a black phenolic pickguard and over the years faded to a "butterscotch" blonde. Unlike the laminated 1.5" thick pine and ash wood samples, the Broadcaster was 1.75" and made of solid ash. The dual pickup version was first manufactured in May and June of that year. Neither early Esquire versions had a truss rod at that time.
The forewings are fuscous irrorated (sprinkled) with whitish and with a dark brown patch irregularly irrorated with blackish extending along the costa from one-third to near the apex, and reaching more than halfway across the wing, limited beneath before the middle by a large tuft of scales on the fold. A silvery-grey-whitish line crosses the wing at five-sixths, on the lower half dilated into a spot preceded and followed by light brownish-ochreous spaces and margined anteriorly by a dark fuscous tuft of scales. There is a silvery- whitish angulated transverse line immediately before the apex. The hindwings are dark grey, thinly scaled and semi-transparent in the disc anteriorly.
Lightning design was done by Visual Light, conformed by Whitehouse and Leitch. The stage was designed by Road Rage and set in-the- round, with a big stage in the center painted to look like a target. There were also two satellite stages in the sides unified by small catwalks, to resemble an actual three-ring circus. The stage was built by Tait Towers and included nine lifts, which had a cost of $10 million. It traveled in 3,000 rolling cases packed into 32 semis and a crew of 150 people was needed to set it up. There was a semi-transparent Element Labs Stealth cylinder screen above the stage, comprising 960 panels that Solotech built into custom frames.
At oblique angles, the light intensity drops off drastically and the image dissipates. Therefore, in order to apply this phenomenon photographically, both projector and camera must be positioned along precisely the same axis - a physical impossibility sidestepped by the employment of a beam splitter. The beam splitter, mounted at a 45-degree angle to the projector axis, aligns the projected image directly to the camera's focal plane, even though the camera and projector are actually positioned at right angles to each other. The mirrored beam-splitter kicks part of the projected image up onto the screen, but being semi-transparent, also allows the camera to see through it, and thereby record the image reflected back.
Agassiz's perchlet has a laterally compressed, oval shaped body with a moderately large, oblique mouth, very large eyes and a forked tail. They are normally semi-transparent but may be olive in colour have dark-edges to their scales which creat a distinct, network pattern with a thin black line along the middle of the flanks which becomes more obvious towards the tail.. The fins are mostly translucent but there is frequently a wide, dusky band along the margins of the pelvic and anal fins. They can grow to about but is a more common length. The teeth are conical and are found on the jaws, the vomer and palatines while the head has some small spines.
In MKT, debuted two new characters: Chameleon, who interchanges colour from the male ninjas (Rain, Ermac, Reptile, Scorpion, Classic Sub-Zero, Human Smoke and Noob Saibot), and Khameleon, who interchanges colour from the female ninjas (Kitana, Mileena and Jade), both of them are semi-transparent; in the same game, also there was intended including Tremor, another male ninja which uses colour brown, but this character was scrapped and appeared later in Mortal Kombat: Special Forces. In the Pokémon franchise, palette swapping is used to give some Pokémon a different coloration than the rest of their kind. As these Pokémon often have sparkling visual and audio effects, they have been named "Shiny Pokémon".
The mirror had narrow slits cut into the surface to let the light reach the cell providing average metering. Late in the following year, a production model of the Pentax Spotmatic was shown whose CdS light meter cells were on the pentaprism, reading the light off the focusing screen providing average reading, yet keeping the Spotmatic name, but now written in one word. Another clever design appeared in 1965, the Canon Pellix employing a pellicle mirror that is semi-transparent, placing the meter cell on an arm swinging into the lightpass behind the mirror for meter reading. Mamiya Sekor came out with cameras such as the Mamiya Sekor TL and various other versions.
Similarly, the transparent wood's thermal conductivity is attributed to the alignment of the wood cellulose fibers, which has been preserved after lignin removal and polymer infiltration. Transparent wood has a thermal conductivity of 0.32 W⋅m−1⋅K−1 in the axial direction and 0.15 W⋅m−1⋅K−1 in the radial direction respectably. Based on the study done by Céline Montanari of the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, the transparent wood's thermal conductivity, which transforms from semi- transparent to transparent when heated, could be used to make buildings more energy-efficient by capturing the sun's energy during the day and releasing it later at night into the interior.
Balinese girls wearing kebaya The kebaya is the national costume of women from Indonesia, although it is more accurately endemic to the Javanese, Sundanese and Balinese peoples. It is sometimes made from sheer material such as silk, thin cotton or semi-transparent nylon or polyester, adorned with brocade or floral pattern embroidery. Kebaya usually worn with a sarong or batik kain panjang, or other traditional woven garment such as ikat, songket with a colorful motif. The earliest form of kebaya originates in the court of the Javanese Majapahit Kingdom as a means to blend the existing female Kemban, torso wrap of the aristocratic women to be more modest and acceptable to the newly adopted Islam religion.
If the source image is of middle brightness, reverse video can be difficult to see, 127 becomes 128 for example, which is only one level of brightness different. The computer displays where it was most commonly used were monochrome and only displayed two values so this issue seldom arose. Reverse video is commonly used in software programs as a visual aid to highlight a selection that has been made as an aid in preventing description errors, where an intended action is performed on an object that is not the one intended. It is more common in modern desktop environments to change the background to other colors such as blue, or to use a semi- transparent background to "highlight" the selected text.
The video was described as "trippy and upbeat" by Jackie Strause and Keely Wold of The Hollywood Reporter who noted how the singer intimately sings to the camera. Anna Gaca commented how there was a simple concept behind it – "multiple, semi-transparent images of Adele singing and dancing in an elegant Dolce & Gabbana gown covered in oversize roses". Erin Coulehan from the website Salon, was very positive towards the clip noting how the kaleidoscopic effects showcased the "ever-revolving feelings of confusion, frustration and eventual solace" a person goes through after the realization that their partner is going on with their life with another love interest, something described in the song's lyrics. Coulehan further opined that many people could relate to those feelings.
For one, since we know where the foreground window is, when the screen raster reaches the graphics hardware, the area occupied by the foreground window can be easily replaced with an accelerated texture. However, if the window manager is also able to supply an application with an updated image of what the screen looked like before the foreground window was drawn but after all other windows were already drawn more possibilities open up. This would allow the one window in the foreground to appear semi-transparent, by using the before image as a texture filter on the final output. This was possible in Windows XP with software included with many NVidia GeForce video cards as well as from third party sources, using a hardware texture overlay.
Hungarian DOGs were first introduced in MTV’s channelTV2 (now M2 (not to be confused with the commercial channel of the same name)) from 1989, but they were very rare until 1991. TV2 (later M2) was the first network to always display its DOG, which was a quarter-circle (which was bright and noticeable). It first showed up in 1992 but it changed in 1994 due to logo change. This was followed by many broadcasters and TV channels. Most DOGs are semi-transparent (either in colour or grayscale), but some including HírTV, Echo TV(which in March 2019, it ceased broadcasting as it merged with HírTV.), PRIME, Viasat 3 and their sister channel Viasat 6, and the long-defunct TV3 have opaque, colour DOGs.
Interpretation of Robertson's Fantasmagorie from F. Marion's L'Optique (1867) Phantasmagoria (, also fantasmagorie, fantasmagoria) was a form of horror theatre that (among other techniques) used one or more magic lanterns to project frightening images such as skeletons, demons, and ghosts onto walls, smoke, or semi-transparent screens, typically using rear projection to keep the lantern out of sight. Mobile or portable projectors were used, allowing the projected image to move and change size on the screen, and multiple projecting devices allowed for quick switching of different images. In many shows the use of spooky decoration, total darkness, (auto-)suggestive verbal presentation, and sound effects were also key elements. Some shows added all kinds of sensory stimulation, including smells and electric shocks.
Most semiautomatic methods of stereo conversion use depth maps and depth-image-based rendering. The idea is that a separate auxiliary picture known as the "depth map" is created for each frame or for a series of homogenous frames to indicate depths of objects present in the scene. The depth map is a separate grayscale image having the same dimensions as the original 2D image, with various shades of gray to indicate the depth of every part of the frame. While depth mapping can produce a fairly potent illusion of 3D objects in the video, it inherently does not support semi-transparent objects or areas, nor does it allow explicit use of occlusion, so these and other similar issues should be dealt with via a separate method.
The update improved the touch controls as well as making certain on-screen buttons larger and semi-transparent, making them easier to press accurately without restricting the view of the in-game action. Also, the need to eat and repair weapons and armor has been decreased in order to improve the overall playability of the game by lowering the frequency with which the player must return to towns. Features of Apple's iOS 3.0, which was released on June 17, 2009, were implemented into the game as well, allowing the user to listen to MP3s in lieu of the in-game soundtrack. The game was also translated to Portuguese (Brazil) and released for the Zeebo, a Brazilian video-game in January 2010.
Early attempts at developing non-wavelength- selective semi-transparent organic photovoltaics using very thin active layers that absorbed in the visible spectrum were only able to achieve efficiencies below 1%. However in 2011, transparent organic photovoltaics that utilized an organic chloroaluminum phthalocyanine (ClAlPc) donor and a fullerene acceptor exhibited absorption in the ultraviolet and near-infrared (NIR) spectrum with efficiencies around 1.3% and visible light transmission of over 65%. In 2017, MIT researchers developed a process to successfully deposit transparent graphene electrodes onto organic solar cells resulting in a 61% transmission of visible light and improved efficiencies ranging from 2.8%-4.1%. Perovskite solar cells, popular due to their promise as next-generation photovoltaics with efficiencies over 25%, have also shown promise as translucent photovoltaics.
Jasper-quartz pebble conglomerate found near Bruce Mines, Ontario, Canada Jasper conglomerate is an informal term for a very distinctive Paleoproterozoic quartz and jasper pebble conglomerate that occurs within the middle part of the Lorrain Formation of the Cobalt Group of the Huronian Supergroup. It is also known by other names including pebble jasper conglomerate, St. Joseph Island puddingstone, Drummond Island puddingstone, Michigan puddingstone. The jasper conglomerate occurs on St. Joseph Island and the St. Mary's River area north and northwest of the Bruce Mines of Northern Ontario, about east of Sault Ste. Marie. This conglomerate consisted originally of gravelly sands and sandy gravels composed of subrounded pebbles of red jasper, white quartzite, semi-transparent quartz, and black chert, with coarse-grained sand matrix.
The concert was divided into seven acts: The Beginning of Reflection, Once Upon a Bride, Kiss Kiss, Break n' Rain, The 80's, JY Platinum Hits and Never Ending JY. Before the show started, the entire stage was covered by a large ball. Once the show began, the ball lit up and the audience was able to see Yung through the semi-transparent material that the ball was made up of. As Yung sang the first song "凝溶", the ball opened up like an upside-down flower blooming, revealing Yung singing on a metal swing with colorful gears spinning above her. After the first song, yung was lowered under the stage as dancers came out for a short dance interlude.
Jasper-quartz pebble conglomerate from Ontario, Canada Jasper conglomerate, which is also denominated "pebble jasper conglomerate", "Saint Joseph Island puddingstone", "Drummond Island puddingstone", or "Michigan(ian) puddingstone", occurs in Saint Joseph Island and the vicinity of the Saint Mary's River, north and northwest of the Bruce Mines of Northern Ontario, Canada, circa east of Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario. In these locales, it occurs as thick beds of Paleoproterozoic pebble conglomerate within the medial part of a geologic formation that is named the Lorrain Formation of the Cobalt Group. The jasper conglomerate consists of subrounded pebbles of red jasper, black chert, white quartzite, hematite, and semi-transparent quartz in a matrix of coarsely grained quartzite. It contains circa 30% to 90% of pebbles.
The novel is set 15 years after the devastation of earth. A band of holdout soldiers remain steadfast to their military/defensive duty, and are based in a deserted junior college in the shadow of a strange, towering, alien City of Force. Wherever the aliens have established themselves, they have raised up great walled cities comprising huge buildings shaped like cylinders, pyramids, cubes, rhombohedrons, semi-transparent prisms, and balls. Electric equipment all over the earth has been shut down by the aliens, and all of human civilization has been driven back to a coal and steam-based technology. The Cities of Force are the home of the “Spheres”. They are large floating aliens that generally ignore humans except when they decide to “select” someone.
Named varieties include translucent green kahurangi, whitish inanga, semi-transparent kawakawa, and tangiwai or bowenite. A 2014 thesis by Dougal Austin supervised by Peter Adds, based on a survey of the collection of hei-tiki at Te Papa Tongarewa and early-contact examples in foreign collections, found that the mana of hei tiki is derived from the "agency of prolonged ancestral use" and stylistically was "highly developed ... from the outset to conform to adze-shaped pieces of pounamu." Examples of hei-tiki are found in museum collections around the world. The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa (over 200) and the British Museum (about 50) have two of the largest collections, many of which were exchanged or gifted to European travellers and sailors at the earliest point of contact between the two cultures.
Thus, energy that is saved by reducing artificial lighting is often more than offset by the energy required for operating HVAC systems to maintain thermal comfort. Various methods can be employed to address this including but not limited to window coverings, insulated glazing and novel materials such as aerogel semi-transparent insulation, optical fiber embedded in walls or roof, or hybrid solar lighting at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Reflecting elements, from active and passive daylighting collectors, such as light shelves, lighter wall and floor colors, mirrored wall sections, interior walls with upper glass panels, and clear or translucent glassed hinged doors and sliding glass doors take the captured light and passively reflect it further inside. The light can be from passive windows or skylights and solar light tubes or from active daylighting sources.
"Slider Gems", note gems connected by a semi-transparent colored line, can be played by sliding one's fingers up and down the touch-sensitive pad on the new World Tour guitar controller, or, alternatively, by simply pressing the corresponding fret button like with hammer-ons and pull-offs (albeit without needing to strum at all) if using an older Guitar Hero controller that does not have the touch-pad. PS3 version of the Guitar Hero World Tour controller RedOctane developed a new guitar controller for World Tour. The unit is approximately 25% larger than previous controllers, making it closer to the size of a real guitar. The new controller includes a longer whammy bar and places the Star Power button directly below the strum bar, improving the access of these features.
One originally placed its DOG in the top-right hand corner of the screen due to it being a sports-orientated channel at the time, but after the 2011 rebrand to allow a wide range of content to be broadcast, the channel's DOG was moved to the bottom-right-hand corner of the screen. The ABC3 and ABC Kids channels originally placed their DOGs in the top-left hand corner of the screen, but moved them down to the bottom-right-hand corner as of late 2013. Datacasting channels and home shopping channels show their DOGs in the top-right hand corner of the screen. DOGs are generally shown in a semi-transparent format, but are shown opaque during in-programme advertisements that take place at the very bottom of the screen.
The cargo area and the rear design of station wagons remained similar to previous Ambassadors, save for a massive new bumper and revised taillamps. The wagon was available with two-row bench seats for six passengers or with a rear- facing third row for a total of eight seat-belted passengers. All came with numerous practical, appearance, and comfort items as standard equipment. These included a two-way opening tailgate: (1) hinged at the bottom for convenient loading or hauling long cargo and (2) hinged at the side to open like a door for ease of entry and exit for passengers or cargo; wood-grained semi- transparent vinyl side and rear trim, a full-length roof rack; as well as a chrome and wood grain roof air deflector to help keep the tailgate window clean.
Interior of Terminal 1 Two passenger terminals and two cargo terminals operate at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The old terminal built in Soviet times was entirely demolished and replaced by the new Terminal 1. The four-level engineering concept was developed in 2010 by Arup company with a tricorn shape and semi-transparent roof. The interior, designed by Turkish company AUTOBAN, has a series of oak-veneer “cocoons”. There is Vanderlande baggage-handling system in Terminal 1, as well as L-3 equipment for thorough baggage inspection and scanners designed to obtain a layered image of the internal structure of the object. Terminal 1 operates jet bridges capable of receiving 12 aircraft simultaneously. Two jet bridges are intended for accommodating the world's largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380. 30 Schindler escalators and 21 elevators are installed in Terminal 1.
2D-plus-Depth is not compatible with existing 2D or 3D-Ready displays. The format has been criticized due to the limited amount of depth that can be displayed in an 8-bit greyscale. 2d-plus-Depth cannot handle transparency (semi-transparent objects in the scene) and occlusion (an object blocking the view of another). The 2d plus DOT format takes these factors into account.Bernard F. Coll, Faisal Ishtiaq, Kevin O'Connell (2010) "3DTV at home: Status, challenges and solutions for delivering a high quality experience" Proceedings VPQM 2010 Additionally, it cannot handle reflection, refraction (beyond simple transparency) and other optical phenomena. Creation of accurate 2D-plus-Depth can be costly and difficult, though recent advances in range imaging have made this process more accessible.Wilson, Andrew (July 1, 2004). “CMOS single-chip sensor captures 3-D images” .
Snout moderate, obtuse. Lower eyelid with an undivided semi-transparent disk. Nostril behind the vertical of the suture between the rostral and the first labial; no postnasal; anterior loreal in contact with the first labial; supranasals in contact behind the rostral; frontonasal broader than long; prefrontals forming a median suture; frontal in contact with the second supraocular only (exceptionally with the first as well); 4 supraoculars, second largest; 6 supraciliaries ; frontoparietals distinct, usually nearly as long as the frontal, and larger than the interparietal, which entirely separates the parietals; usually no distinct nuchals; 4, seldom 5, labials anterior to the subocular, which is about twice as long as the neighbouring shields and not narrowed below. Ear-opening oval, larger than a lateral scale, smaller than the eye-opening, with 3 or 4 short pointed lobules anteriorly.
A photogram of a number of photography-related objects A photogram [from the combining form φωτω- (phōtō-) of Ancient Greek φῶς (phôs, “light”), and Ancient Greek suffix -γραμμα (-gramma), from γράμμα (grámma, “written character, letter, that which is drawn”), from γράφω (gráphō, “to scratch, to scrape, to graze”)] is a photographic image made without a camera by placing objects directly onto the surface of a light-sensitive material such as photographic paper and then exposing it to light. The usual result is a negative shadow image that shows variations in tone that depends upon the transparency of the objects used. Areas of the paper that have received no light appear white; those exposed for a shorter time or through transparent or semi-transparent objects appear grey, while fully exposed areas are black in the final print. The technique is sometimes called cameraless photography.
Water based acrylic paints are most common, however some companies also make gel-medium based acrylic paints, such as Warcolour paints. The major benefits of acrylic paints over enamel paints are the faster drying time, that acrylics can be thinned with water, that various mediums and additives (eg retarders, surfactants, etc) can be mixed in to assist in painting, that multiple thinned and semi-transparent layers of paint can be used to create blending and effects, and being non- toxic. For all of their advantages, acrylic paints are the most popular choice among figure painters, with the majority of painters, particularly display and competition painters, using exclusively acrylic or mostly acrylic with some other paint types used for achieving specific effects, although some figure painters still use enamels out of personal preference or nostalgia. As well as acrylic paints formulated for figure painting, it is possible to use regular "heavy body" acrylics to achieve highly detailed results, provided they are of a high artist grade quality.
She produced a succession of paintings of semi- transparent humanoid robots in fantastical outfits, with their internal organs replaced by tubes and funnels, becoming buried in the landscapes which they had themselves destroyed. She saw much earlier than most that much of the technical development that was being celebrated as progress towards human perfectability was no such thing, but a threat and de-humanising distortion that would put an end to human individuality.Wolfgang Längsfeld: Katalog des Kunstvereins Augsburg 1981 Representative of her output during this period are large format oil paintings such as "Kahlschlag" (loosely, "forest clearance"), and "Schacht" (loosely "strip mining") which show landscapes that have disappeared to be replaced by imagined Martian landscapes and characters formed of concrete patterns. "Das Muster als Monster" (loosely, "The pattern as monster") was the insightful headline for a critical review of an exhibition that included von Arnim pictures such as "Spuren" (loosely, "Tramlines"), "Mäanderthal" (loosely, "Maze valley") and "Städte-Meer" (loosely, "Lake city").
In the same year, due to the difference in views in the development of the products, the relationship between Vicentelli and Plastwood comes to an end. This created the introduction of Geomag SA in January 2003, a Swiss company with its headquarters in Ticino, with the signing of the agreement between Vicentelli and Geomag SA allowing for the production of the patented construction toy line. At the end of July Geomag SA began the production and marketing campaigns of the products, including the development of panel (triangular platforms, rhombi, squares and pentagonal semi-transparent coloured polycarbonate that can be used to fill the gaps of the structures bars, with decorative function and support) which demonstrated a second success (representing 35% of the global market) and particularly became an important product line for Geomag as it differentiated the company from its imitators. This development is also a result from a patent licensed from Vicentelli.
The album artwork imitated the visual style of classic "girlie" and fashion magazines, featuring high-fashion shots of scantily clad models Amanda Lear, Marilyn Cole and Jerry Hall, each of whom had romances with Ferry during the time of their contributions, as well as model Kari-Ann Muller who appears on the cover of the first Roxy album but who was not otherwise involved with anyone in the band, and who later married Mick Jagger's brother Chris. The title of the fourth Roxy album, Country Life, was intended as a parody of the well-known British rural magazine of the same name, and the visually punning front cover photo featured two models (two German fans, Constanze Karoli—sister of Can's Michael Karoli—and Eveline Grunwald) clad only in semi-transparent lingerie standing in a forest. As a result, in many areas of the United States the album was sold in an opaque plastic wrapper because retailers refused to display the cover.
Javanese kebaya black silk secured with kerongsang brooch, and kain batik as skirt The quintessential kebaya is the Javanese kebaya as known today is essentially unchanged as noted by Raffles in 1817.Panular, P. B. R. Carey, The British in Java, 1811-1816: a Javanese account : a text edition, English synopsis and commentary on British Library Additional Manuscript 12330 (Babad Bĕdhah ing Ngayogyakarta), British Academy by Oxford University Press: 1992, , 611 pagesJohn Pemberton, On the subject of "Java", Cornell University Press: 1994, , 333 pages It consists of the blouse (kebaya) of cotton, silk, lace, brocade or velvet, with the central opening of the blouse fastened by a central brooch (kerongsang) where the flaps of the blouse meet, wore over kain. ;Kebaya blouse: The kebaya blouse is commonly semi-transparent and traditionally worn over the torso wrap or kemben. Boulay, the General Manager of DCX's Advanced Design Studio in Yokohama, was seconded to MMC, and immediately began creating a strong image for their cars through a common "face" seen on all the concepts, in the curvature of the lower edge of the grille, the size and shape of the badge and the sharp crease rising up the leading edge of the bonnet."Mitsubishi designer's vision unveiled", MMNA press release, PR Newswire, January 9, 2002 More radical styling concepts included the thick wraparound tubeline encircling the body which also housed the front and rear lamp units, detachable, semi-transparent body panels in the doors, and seatback-mounted backpacks. The hardtop's large louvred sunroof was replaced by a convertible top and hideaway rear glass in the cabriolet."Concept Car: Mitsubishi SUP Cabriolet", 4Car, July 11, 2002 Under the skin, the SUP was equipped with a "soft HEV" 4WD drivetrain; an automated manual transmission channelled power from a 1,999 cc 4G94 gasoline direct injection straight-4 with integrated starter alternator (GDI-ISA) to the front wheels, with two discreet electric motors powering the rears.
Elisa Roche Stars celebrate Five's exciting future Express.co.uk, 20 October 2010 There is also cross-promotion between Northern & Shell's newspaper and magazine titles with their websites promoted on the Channel 5 website. In 2010, afternoon movies on Channel 5 were sponsored by the Daily Express. The new logo for Channel 5 replaced the "FIVE" logo on 14 February 2011.Channel 5 welcomed into Desmond's family ATV Network, 20 October 2010; Retrieved 21 October 2010 The logo is a "5" in a red circle; the extended version of the logo has the word "CHANNEL" in upper case font to its left. The launch DOG revived the "5" motif, originally as a transparent '5' cutout in a bright grey circle. From 18 February 2011, the DOG was modified to a white semi-transparent '5' on a faint grey circle. The DOG was later returned to the transparent '5' cutout in a bright grey circle. On 5 March 2013, the DOG was moved into the 16:9 safe area, along with the rest of their channels.
Nikon F3H High Speed 13 Frames per second The F3H, a high-speed camera, was introduced for press, sports photography and for the 1998 Nagano Olympics in Japan. However Nikon recently stated its true motivation on its website in that it "represented Nikon's reaction to the fact that, the previous year, a competitor had released a camera for high-speed continuous shooting that could shoot 10 fps". Following previous practice with the Nikon F High Speed and the F2H, it featured a fixed pellicle semi-transparent mirror, diverting 30% of the light through to the view finder, allowing the camera and the specially produced MD-4H motor drive to achieve up to 13 frames per second, when the MN-2 nicad battery is used (as opposed to 7.5 frames per second with eight AA alkaline batteries). The F3H had the appearance of an F3P modified for high-speed photography; however, under the skin were some advanced techniques to achieve the speeds required, including something Nikon have described as "the camera and the motor drive predict and control each other's operations, so that certain operations overlap".
They are common throughout the lowlands of New Zealand, including both Chatham and Stewart Island/Rakiura, but tend not to ascend as far inland as long-finned eels. In Australia, they are restricted to the area on the seaward side of the Great Dividing Range, from about Mount Gambier in the south-eastern corner of South Australia, through Victoria, Tasmania, the Bass Strait islands and up the eastern seaboard to the Richmond River in northern New South Wales. Unable to scale the Great Divide, and not extending as far west as the outlet of the Murray River, they are excluded from the thousands of miles of waterways that drain inland eastern Australia. A. Australis is the most widely distributed longitudinally of the Anguillid eels where its larvae can be found just south of Fiji to the North-west of Australia in the SEC region (14.5–21°S, 154–179.5°E) (For a comparison with northern hemisphere eels, in particular the European eel, see eel life history.) The larvae drift on the ocean currents and eventually reach coastal waters, where they metamorphose into elvers (tiny, semi-transparent eels).
