He is a member of the Southern Cross Group and chaired (2004–09) the Expert Independent Advisory Panel to the Minister of the Sustainability and Environment in Victoria (Australia).

Kevin Fleming O’Brien, S.J., (born October 8, 1966) is an American Jesuit priest, theologian, educator, and author. On July 1, 2019, O’Brien assumed office as the 29th President of Santa Clara University. He previously served as the dean of SCU's Jesuit School of Theology and as Vice President for Mission and Ministry at Georgetown University. At Santa Clara, O’Brien succeeded Michael Engh, S.J., who served from 2009-2019.

On April 30, 2015, "Respawned and Overclocked" was another large update, which completely changed the core gameplay. The robot-building remained unchanged, but the battles were given new mechanics, such as Protonium Crystals that must be destroyed instead of the previous goal of capturing the enemy base. Also added were Fusion Shields, SCU's, Fusion Towers, and Overclocking, as well as other changes such as rebalancing armor and healing. On June 24, 2015, the controversial update "Team Orders" was released.

During Ewell's time at college, he had been attributing his father's accomplishments to himself and was posing as a wealthy entrepreneur when he actually had no such experience. A Santa Clara newspaper and SCU's yearbook both had printed stories on Ewell in 1990, depicting him as "a self-made millionaire" who was enjoying the luxuries afforded by his nonexistent business success. After learning about Ewell's lies, his parents modified their estate plan. Extended family believed that Dale Ewell planned on ending his financial support for his son after his college graduation, a possible motive for the murders.

Smile Communications Uganda (SCU) was established in November 2009 and launched its 4G LTE operations in June 2013 in Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda. SCU is a subsidiary of Smile Telecoms Holdings, a Mauritius-based pan-African telecommunications group with operations in Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and South Africa. SCU has since expanded its 4G LTE services, including the cities and towns of Fort Portal, Gulu, Jinja, Kabale, Masaka, Masindi, Mbale, Mbarara, Mukono, Soroti, Tororo, and Wakiso. SCU's voice-over-LTE, called "VoLTE", is compatible with the iPhone and Android systems.

He worked at Georgetown for eight years before being named dean at the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University in 2016. O'Brien was selected to be the next president of SCU in March 2019, and assumed office on July 1, 2019. He has outlined plans for his first year, which include increasing access and affordability for qualified SCU students; supporting faculty and staff in the high-cost Bay Area; completing the university's $1 billion capital campaign, and intensifying SCU's outreach to Silicon Valley and the surrounding community. O’Brien currently serves on the boards of Fordham University and Seattle University, and previously served on the boards at Marquette University and Boston College.

SCU's initial demands included continuation of food advances, which had been suspended by landowners in an attempt to drive down wages; the ASU also demanded the right to sell surplus crops directly in the market rather than having to rely on brokerage by the landowners. They demanded also the right to cultivate small garden plots in order to minimize dependency on the landowners for food. In addition to the demand for payments to be made in cash rather than in goods, SCU membership also demanded nine-month public elementary schools for their children. In 1935, the SCU turned its attention to the Federal government. Subsidies which were provided by the New Deals' 1933 Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA) benefited only the landowners and the SCU sued the Federal government for direct payment to sharecroppers.
