Scorcher is a 2002 science fiction disaster film directed by James Seale and starring Mark Dacascos, John Rhys-Davies, Jeffrey Johnson, Tamara Davies, Mark Rolston and Rutger Hauer. It was first released in the United States in 2002. It concerns a group of scientists who discover, after a disastrous nuclear accident, that the Earth's tectonic plates are shifting and creating immense pressure that will destroy the Earth in a fiery global eruption, and it is up to a few top scientists to find a way to stop it.
But there are too many inexplicable details and the evidence is pointing in two directions at once. Scorcher’s personal life is tugging for his attention. Seeing the case on the news has sent his sister Dina off the rails again, and she’s resurrecting something that Scorcher thought he had tightly under control: what happened to their family, one summer at Broken Harbour, back when they were children. The neat compartments of his life are breaking down, and the sudden tangle of work and family is putting both at risk.
He was introduced to his original Scorcher bandmates through the independent Praxis record label, and the group soon established a strong reputation among indie rock circles. Although country rock and rockabilly were not new concepts, they predated the raw sound of 1970s punk and 1980s alternative rock, and by the 1980s, most country music resembled mainstream pop. Therefore, Jason and the Scorchers were something of a novelty in their hometown, Nashville, Tennessee, as their ragged, high-energy music was somewhat unprecedented. This made The Scorchers a natural for eclectic venues such as Nashville's Exit/In.
At the time of its writing, storyboard artist Kent Osborne initially thought that the references to the Internet were jarring and anachronistic, since the series was supposed to take place in a fantasy world. Voice actress Grey DeLisle appears in this episode as Breakfast Princess. She would later reprise her role in the sixth season episode "Princess Day". Ward himself voices Scorcher, although his only audible line occurs near the end of the episode, when he angrily concedes to Ice King's insistence that Finn and Jake are dead.
In 2011, Scorcher began an acting career and played the major role of Kamale, in the 2011 Channel 4 drama, Top Boy. "Making the transition from music to acting hasn't really been that hard for me, as you get used to performing its just performance in a different setting." He described his character as sinister, and an all-out bad man and is working with other rappers such as Ashley Walters, Kano and other first time actors. He has also played a part in the movie Offender which was released on 24 December 2012.
Of the roughly 10,000 stars visible to the naked eye, only a few hundred have been given proper names in the history of astronomy. Traditional astronomy tends to group stars into constellations or asterisms and give proper names to those, not to individual stars. Many star names are, in origin, descriptive of the part of the constellation they are found in; thus Phecda, a corruption of ('thigh of the bear'). Only a handful of the brightest stars have individual proper names not depending on their asterism; so Sirius ('the scorcher'), Antares ('rival of Ares', i.e.
Sun Scorcher is a game resembling Space Invaders in which a player controls a spaceship that has to destroy alien invaders and the mothership. The prank in this game makes fun of video disclaimers as well as advertising buzzwords such as "Blast Processing" used during the 16-bit era. The game claims to have "thermographics" which are released by the mothership. A disclaimer (that the player cannot skip past, even though the game is still playable) appears beforehand, and a dramatic voice states that these thermographics make the screen dangerous to touch.
Edward Clay O'Rear (February 2, 1863 – September 12, 1961) was an American politician who served on the Kentucky Court of Appeals and was a Republican candidate for the United States House of Representatives in 1888 and for Governor of Kentucky in 1911. His father died when O'Rear was very young, and he began work as a printer's devil to help support his mother and fourteen siblings. Eventually, he became editor of the Mountain Scorcher newspaper and read law under its publisher. He gained admission to the bar in 1882.
SNFU biographer Chris Walter describes the early reviews of the album in underground punk sources as "uniformly good."Walter 49 In a review for Maximumrocknroll, noted artist Pushead praised the album's "[r]igorous energy pushing the limits of power with knocking flurry and extreme excitement" and called the album "a scorcher." The album remained influential in hardcore punk circuits thereafter. Writing for AllMusic, Paul Henderson praised the band's mix of the "anger and rebellion" common to hardcore punk bands alongside its "wry sense of humor and warped but goofy subject matter" unique to the genre.
However, like Extremeroller the season before, the track wasn't intended to use stand-up trains and, prior to the start of the 1985 season, the original trains and name were restored. Also in 1984, 350 miles east of Six Flags St. Louis, Kings Island at Mason, Ohio opened the TOGO-designed King Cobra as the world's first purpose-built stand- up roller coaster. The attraction operated from 1984 to 2001. The last new stand-up roller coaster to be constructed was Georgia Scorcher at Six Flags Over Georgia in 1999.
The film opens with Kinathadi Kaali (Ramya Krishnan) establishing her powers with a couple of sequences, including reducing a screen scorcher (Nassar) to a pale shadow. Cut to the present, where Priya (Keethika) is the intelligent daughter of Pichumani (Ramji) and Gayathri (Sangeetha), who treat her like the apple of their eyes. Soon, she is possessed by the spirit of Savithri (Kaveri), who was ditched by her fiancé Nanjappan (Riyaz Khan). With the help of Kaali, it is the now the turn of Savithri and her brother Karuppu (Ganja Karuppu) to take revenge.
Orion into the night sky, the Dog Star Sirius can be easily located in the heavens by following the line created by the prominent asterism Orion's Belt. The English name is a calque of the Latin ' (."the puppy days"), itself a calque of the ancient Greek .. The Greeks knew the star α Canis Majoris by several names, including Sirius "Scorcher" (, Seírios), Sothis (, Sôthis, a transcription of Egyptian Spdt), and the Dog Star (, Kúōn).. The last name reflects the way Sirius follows the constellation Orion into the night sky.
IPC Magazines, the publishers of Scorcher, always referred to it as a "paper" rather than a comic in its editorials, to distinguish it from more child oriented publications such as The Beano or The Dandy. In addition to its realistic and comedic football themed stories, it contained factual items about British professional football, and advertisements not only for contemporary toys, games and confectionery, but also others aimed at an older readership, such as for the Charles Atlas body building method, and recruitment advertisements for the Police, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy.
As Aiolia decided to spare Pegasus Seiya's life for the moment, Sirius and the others jumped in and remarked that the Gold Saint was too weak and decided to deal with Seiya themselves. After ganging up on Seiya, the young Bronze Saint was assisted by the Sagittarius Gold Cloth. The three Silver Saints did not heed Aiolia's warning to stay away, and were killed by the Gold Cloth. :Named after Sirius, the proper name of alpha star of constellation Canis Major, which is comes from the Ancient Greek: Σείριος Seirios, meaning glowing or scorcher.
Shore stations called Affray all day and HMS Agincourt led a fleet of search vessels which eventually totalled 24 ships from four nations. The Portland 2nd Training Flotilla which included HMS Tintagel Castle, Flint Castle, , and ASDIC (sonar) trials vessel Helmsdale, left Portland. Also out of Portland, they were joined by the submarines HMS Scorcher, Scythian, and Sirdar all flying large white flags to distinguish them from the missing Affray. Sirdar later sat on the bottom for six hours while the ASDIC boats familiarised themselves with the identification of a submarine sitting on the bottom.
"Expander" or "Aggressor" usually results in fairly aggressive plays, while "Scorcher" will raze everything they conquer. Increased AI difficulty is achieved by giving the player bonus gold, bonus mana and bonus exp to heroes each turn. There have been many criticisms of the AI, leading some players to adopt self-imposed restrictions to make the game enjoyable: In tactical combat, the AI can be "baited" into engaging unfavourably, or chasing one unit around while other units take pot shots at it. The AI will not specifically target enemy leaders, even though doing so could mean the elimination of an enemy player.
Although rather expensive to purchase, the kits and radio systems sold rapidly. Tamiya soon began to produce more purpose- built remote-controlled model cars, and were the first to release off-road buggies featuring real suspension systems. It was this progression toward the off-road class that brought about much of the hobby's popularity, as it meant radio-controlled cars were no longer restricted to bitumen and smooth surfaces, but could be driven virtually anywhere. The first true Tamiya off- road vehicles were the Sand Scorcher and the Rough Rider, both released in 1979, and both based on realistic dune buggy designs.
The first fiberglass Baja kit (bug eye kit) was not introduced until 1969 by the Miller-Havens company. The original "Bugeye" kit by Miller-Havens Enterprises was widely copied - Drino Miller estimated that at least 8 of the original 10 kits sold were “Splashed” (used to make copy moulds). Miller-Havens modified the rear panels of the original Bugeye kit in mid 1971 to add a longer engine cowl and longer rear fenders that original VW Bug rear lights could be mounted to. It was this 1971 kit that inspired the Tamiya Sand Scorcher radio controlled Baja Bug.
The story is of a small-time criminal called Hoodz (played by Scorcher), who finds success in robbing stores and small businesses, and finally catches the jackpot by attacking a big drug dealer for his stash of money and drugs. Gunz (played by Dylan Duffus), is an undercover police officer posing as a member in his squad is failing to make regular contact to his commanding officers and is increasingly becoming extremely content with the idea of being one of the members in Hoodz' crew. The police begin to view him as a suspect like all the rest.
The glassfibre body is mounted on a steel tubular-frame chassis and is completely open to the elements, offering the vehicle's occupants no protection from the weather. Even the engine is exposed, unless the buyer purchased the optional plastic bonnet. The Scorcher has two wheels at the front and conventional car controls. Its unusual configuration of three seats with the driver and passengers sitting in line astride the machine meant that the UK's licensing authority classified it as a motorcycle and sidecar combination, which had the consequence that one of the passengers was not required to wear a crash helmet.
Scorcher helps to cook the chicken back home, and the bears enjoy a good meal, until the baby dragon gets indigestion and burns Pa's face by accident. Next, in Sausages, Dennis is playing fetch with Gnasher, who initially is bored, until he smells sausages on the breeze, and encourages Dennis to throw the stick next door. Dennis is able to spear the sausages on the neighbours' grill and Gnasher hops over the fence and retrieves the stick, sausages and all. Next, in Minnie Apples, the apples on George's tree are ripe, but Minnie can't reach them on her own.

While at an abandoned lab at Empire University, Peter and Carlie are attacked by Chance, Scorcher, and White Rabbit, who all have spider powers. When White Rabbit attacks Carlie, Peter uses some moves he learned from Shang-Chi to knock out the villains. Carlie takes the villains to the precinct and tells Peter that she wants to have a talk with him and Spider-Man, to Peter's dismay.
Political action from the community, however, is often challenged by interests within the fossil-fuel industry,Hamilton, Clive (2007), "Scorcher: The Dirty Politics of Climate Change"Paul Ehrlich "Betrayal of Science and Reason: How Anti-Environmental Rhetoric Threatens Our Future" which have been charged with promoting climate change denial views in order to hold off a "carbon bubble" valuation crash. There are many forms of political action on climate change including letter writing, direct lobbying, and public shaming of politicians and media organizations. Political action campaigns require building a base of support at local level. There are many facts that point to the existence of climate change.
" A favorable Peter Travers in Rolling Stone called the film a "scorcher of a thriller" with a "knockout performance" by Olin. He added, "It will be a shame if audiences don't get the joke". In a retrospective review, Dennis Schwartz referred to the film as a "senseless, tasteless and demented postmodern noir", but commended Olin's "menacing" turn as well as the initial interaction between Oldman and Scheider. Randy Miller of DVD Talk wrote, "It's a wild and entertaining ride, to be sure... but not one without its fair share of bumps along the way, and one you probably won't revisit on a regular basis.
Entertainment Weekly called The Passion of Darkly Noon "an unintended comedy with a scorcher of an ending", citing poor acting, over- the-top dialogue and implausible plot twists. Conversely, Fangoria magazine praised the film, citing especially the performance of Brendan Fraser. Leading UK film critic Mark Kermode has raved about the film calling it "One of my favourite cinematic experiences of recent years" and also citing it as "[Ridley's] great unsung work." Like Ridley's previous film The Reflecting Skin it has developed a cult following and in 2014 made the top 10 in The Daily Telegraph's list of the 50 most underrated films of all time.
In the vernacular of the 1900s Levitt was a scorcher, a motorist who delighted in exceeding the speed limit and who therefore came to the attention of the police. On 6 November 1903, she was summonsed to appear at Marlborough Street Assizes for speeding in Hyde Park. According to the reported statement by the police she was said to have driven at a "terrific pace" and, when stopped, reportedly said that "[she] ... would like to drive over every policeman and wished she had run over the sergeant and killed him." Although she did not appear personally, the magistrate, Mr Denman, fined her £5 with 2s costs.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch journalist Melissa Ruggierit called "Da la Vuelta" a "traditional romp co-written by Emilio Estefan that is a scorcher." Chloe Cabrera of The Tampa Tribune felt that "Da la Vuelta", along with "Dímelo", has "the feel of his Grammy-award winning 1997 album, Contra la Corriente." Mario Tarradell, who gave Marc Anthony a negative review on The Dallas Morning News, lamented that the record was filled with ballads instead of dance numbers like "Da la Vuelta", "Dímelo", and "That's Okay". However, he also remarked that "we know he can do the salsa stuff" and insisted that they were "not a challenge" for Anthony.
In contrast to ZZ Top's elaborately-staged productions from previous tours, the Hollywood Blues Tour utilized an austere stage setup. To embrace the group's renowned concept of visual imagery, the stage featured an LED drape for a backdrop video screen that showed visual effects, video clips and flashing text phrases, along with amplifiers stacks and a Van de Graaff generator. Consisting of four legs and 97 shows, the tour began in Biloxi, Mississippi on March 6, 2007 and ended in Aspen, Colorado on December 31, 2007. After the first leg, the tour was expanded for a summer tour with the Stray Cats and The Pretenders, which was branded as "Summer Scorcher".
Throughout his acting career, Johnson has appeared in or voice-performed various commercials and guest-starred in several television series, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Bones, Boomtown, Lie to Me, and Burn Notice. He has also been seen in films such as Helter Skelter and Scorcher. Johnson appeared in the 2010 faith-based drama Letters to God, as Brady McDaniels, a troubled mailman who finds inspiration through the wisdom of a young boy stricken with cancer. In 2012, Johnson starred as the titular character in another faith-based independent film, Worth: The Testimony of Johnny St. James, co-starring Eric Roberts and Vincent Irizarry.
While the tone of Chatterton's writings was intemperate and angry, he also addressed issues which touched directly on the lives of the urban poor. He advocated birth control so that women could enjoy 'all the sexual pleasures of love, of life, of all desire' without giving birth to children they could not afford to feed. In another pamphlet, he expressed fierce criticism of slum clearances which left slum-dwellers homeless and argued that land and houses should be nationalised. In 1884, Chatterton began publishing the 'Scorcher', which appeared roughly every three months - more than forty issues in all - for the rest of his life.
Billy Dane feels the power of his magic boots Billy's Boots was a popular British comic strip by writer Fred Baker and artist John Gillatt, later continued by Mike Western. The original Billy's Boots was an earlier humorous series, written and drawn by Frank Purcell, which appeared in Tiger between 1961 and 1963, with a similar premise to this later series. The later more serious Billy appeared in the first issue of Scorcher in 1970, and later moved to Tiger when the two comics merged in 1974. In 1985 Tiger in turn merged with Eagle and the strip moved again, however just a year later Billy's adventures relocated once more, this time to Roy of the Rovers.

Broadway Tunnel (San Francisco) September 29, 2006 Critical Mass-like bike tours with hundreds of participants took place in Stockholm, Sweden in the early 1970s. But the first ride within the present wave took place on Friday, September 25, 1992, at 6 pm in San Francisco. At that time, the event was known as Commute Clot and was composed of a couple of dozen cyclists who had received flyers on Market Street. Shortly after this, some participants in that ride went to a local bicycle shop for a screening of Ted White's documentary Return of the Scorcher, about bike culture in the Netherlands and China in comparison with that of the United States.
While Musicserver was generally positive towards the music video, Tony Sokol from American music website KpopStarz called it a "scorcher" and Grupo EGF noticed Lesbian vibe. German website Hitfire labelled the outfits used during the clip "interesting", praised the performance of the background dancers, and called the video "recommendable". Jonathan Currinn, writing in his own music website, described the visual as being "fashion involved", and particularly saw Inna's appearance as sexy and confident. Going on, Currinn further likened Turner's appearance on a TV screen to that of Pitbull's in Inna's "Good Time" (2014) and Flo Rida's in The Saturdays's "Higher" (2010), while being positive to the choreography although stating that it "isn't in depth enough".

At the time when Dr. Z was recuperating from a bad back, Seth had Laura and Rod obtain the dinosaur cards for his own agenda. He then caused the Alpha Gang to retreat as he turns a complete Tyrannosaurus fossil into the Black Tyrannosaurus to hold them and the D-Team at bay while he attempts to go back to the past.
My ideal of a clever lady rider is one who can ride far, who can ride at a really useful speed, who mounts hills with comfort, and makes no fuss or show of effort. The stylish, clever lady stops short of being a scorcher, but if women's races were to be organised, the participants would have to run to their limit, or else make a mockery of racing. And that limit is not pleasant to contemplate... the speed woman, dishevelled, grimy and graceless. I believe in a high standard of cycling ability as really worth while attaining by women, but not as racers... Imagine women dressed for speed, on bicycles built for speed, in attitudes necessary for speed, grabbing speed food, taking acidThe meaning isn't clear.
Soap shoes were featured in the video game Sonic Adventure 2, developed by Sonic Team USA in San Francisco. This game presented many billboards, blimps, and benches advertising the shoes; also, Sonic wore a custom version of the Scorcher/Nitro shoes exclusive to the title, while the darker character Shadow wears hybrid jet hoverskate/grind shoes, as grinding (or "soaping") debuted as an important new gameplay element. Grinding remains a core element in recent Sonic games, though officially licensed Soap shoes have given way to his normal shoes. Soap shoes made their reappearance in Sonic Forces as an unlockable accessory for the Avatar and come in three different colors, one of the colors matching the ones used in Sonic Adventure 2.
The oversized warhead would be used against attacking formations of supersonic bombers; it was anticipated that fourteen such initiations, at a distance of approximately from the bombers' target, would be sufficient to disrupt an attack. A force of eighty of the advanced fighters were proposed for carrying the weapon. Despite Convair's sales pitch and the anticipated effectiveness of the weapon, the Air Force was unenthusiastic about the concept; aside from the expense of developing the aircraft and weapon, the Sky Scorcher missile also suffered from the fact that there would be significant effects on the ground below the location of an airburst of a multi-megaton nuclear warhead. As a result, the project was abandoned before any significant work was undertaken.
The "Nutty Train" photo on the sleeve, shot by Cameron McVey, was inspired by a photo of Kilburn and the High Roads roadie Paul Tonkin that appeared on the back cover of the band's album Handsome. The title track, released as a single, was originally written and recorded by the Jamaican ska musician Prince Buster, and its "Don't watch that, watch this ..." introduction is adapted from another Prince Buster song, "The Scorcher". The North American release of One Step Beyond... features a cover of Buster's "Madness", as the song was released as a single there, and the track "The Prince" is a tribute to Buster. After the album's initial release, reissues were released in 2009 and 2014, each containing additional material such as video productions featuring the band.
The weekly podcast was published on YouTube and followed on audio only platforms. It takes the form of casual conversation with his associates within the Grime scene. Logan also maintains the KeepinItGrimy playlist on Spotify, where he aggregates new Grime releases as a resource for fans. He often releases free downloads for his fans, most recently in the form of a series of grime mixes named The Best There Is At What I Do and classic garage mixed ‘Tuned in to 99’ to celebrate the relaunch of Nike's Tuned Air Max shoe.
"One Step Beyond" is a tune written by Jamaican ska singer Prince Buster as a B-side for his 1964 single "Al Capone". It was covered by British band Madness for their debut studio album of the same name (1979). Although Buster's version was mostly instrumental except for the song title shouted for a few times, the Madness version features a spoken intro by Chas Smash and a barely audible but insistent background chant of "here we go!". The spoken line, "Don't watch that, watch this", in the intro is from another Prince Buster song, "Scorcher" — and is also used at the start of Dave and Ansell Collins' "Funky Funky Reggae" — whilst the next line "This is a heavy heavy monster sound" is taken from another Dave and Ansell Collins song, "Monkey Spanner".
The moment when Billy found the boots, from the first issue of Scorcher in 1970 The series concerned Billy Dane, a schoolboy and aspiring footballer, who was an extremely poor player until he discovered a pair of old style, ankle high, football boots while cleaning his grandmother's loft. The boots, which his grandfather had bought as a souvenir, had belonged, decades before, to a famous professional striker called Charles "Dead Shot" Keen. In a manner which was never explained in the story, the boots possess special abilities which turn Billy into a fantastic football player when he wore them. In addition to giving Billy the physical skill to score great goals, the boots also granted him the intuition to be in the right place at the time on the pitch, leading him to feel that they have a "mind of their own".
