For thousands of years, tansy has been taken in early pregnancy to restore menstruation. (Catamenia is blood or other material discharged from the uterus during menstruation.) Bottle Shock is a 2008 American comedy-drama film based on the 1976 wine competition termed the "Judgment of Paris", when California wine defeated French wine in a blind taste test. It stars Alan Rickman, Chris Pine, and Bill Pullman and is directed by Randall Miller, who wrote the screenplay along with Jody Savin and Ross Schwartz. It premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.

In June 1863 Union forces again took control of the ridge and enlarged the fortifications in response to the Confederate invasion of Maryland during the Gettysburg Campaign. The "Pinnacle Lot" of the Maryland Heights was purchased by the Maryland Park System from the grandchildren of the last private owner, Judge Patrick Chapman Savin (1820-1889) of Harper's Ferry, MD; the lot was in turn gifted by the State of Maryland to the National Park Service in the 1950s. Judge Patrick and his brother, John Chapman Savin, and a future son-in-law, John Marion Marsteller (1841-1898) were among those who participated in the capture of John Brown and his men. It was during this time that the side of the cliff overlooking Harper's Ferry was leased for advertising seen by the passengers of trains as they entered and exited the tunnel under the Maryland Heights.

The brothers and entrepreneurs had made a fortune as concessionaires at Coney Island in Brooklyn. They also owned some concessions and a carousel at Savin Rock Park in Connecticut. The Rosenthals built the Coney Island Cyclone, a wooden coaster (completely different from the Travers' Triplets), in 1927.

Winter Hill Gang associate James "Spike" O'Toole was a troubled alcoholic and a habitue of Connor's saloon, the Bulldog Tavern in Savin Hill. He tipped off his friend Howie Winter about O'Toole's drinking habits, and Winter told Connors to inform him the next time O'Toole was drinking at his saloon. O'Toole was later machine gunned by John Martorano as he walked out of his saloon on December 1, 1973.

George Savin De Chaneet was a Hungarian-Australian composer, conductor, choir master, organist and music teacher. He was born in Hamburg, only son of Frederich de Chanéet. He arrived in Melbourne on 22 April 1884, where he spent his active life, seeking naturalisation in 1899. He dedicated much of his time to St Mary's Roman Catholic Church in West Melbourne, and composed church music for other parishes and denominations.

The 8th Corps reached the city center from the north but was unable to save the units that had fallen into the trap because of stiff resistance. No reinforcements ever reached the railway station. In 2011, the first floor of the Elihu Burritt Library was renovated to create a new common area with seating, couches, computers, and food vendors. Arute Field and its adjacent practice and baseball fields also underwent extensive construction and renovation from 2010 through the present, including new football, soccer, track, and practice field turf. William Savin Fulton was born in Cecil County, Maryland, and graduated from Baltimore College in 1813. He had intended to study law, but with the outbreak of the War of 1812 he enlisted in a company of volunteers at Fort McHenry. Fulton was military secretary to General Andrew Jackson during the Seminole War in 1818. After the war, Fulton moved to Gallatin, Tennessee, where he was admitted to the bar in 1817.

Del Stanley "Pake" McEntire (born June 23, 1953) is an American country music artist. He is elder brother to Reba McEntire and Susie Luchsinger. Signed to RCA Nashville in 1986, Pake made his debut on the national country music scene with the release of his first single, "Every Night", which peaked at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles charts. It was followed by his biggest chart hit, "Savin' My Love for You" at No. 3.

In 1862 the London and North Western and Great Western Companies took a joint lease of the Shrewsbury and Hereford line. Findlay assisted in conducting this transaction, which proved of benefit to both companies. The North Western appointed him their district manager for Shropshire and South Wales. With the concurrence of the North Western board he also accepted the post of manager of the Oswestry, Newtown, and Llanidloes Railways from Thomas Savin, who had leased those lines.

Baxter died in 1927 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Baxter is the namesake of Sylvester Baxter Riverfront Park in Somerville, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. In 1956, the Malden Garden Club dedicated the Sylvester Baxter Delta in Malden. (This was reported on page one in the May 15, 1956 issue of the Malden Evening News.) The Sylvester Baxter Delta is located at 42°25'48.5"N 71°05'04.8"W, in Malden, MA where Savin Street and Fellsmere Road meet.

Construction was completed in May 1927; the station was finished during the next several months under the possibility it would open before Savin Hill and . The three stations ultimately opened together on November 5, 1927. In November 1928, the BERy began construction of a second station entrance from Sydney Street at Crescent Avenue. A footbridge was built over the southbound track at the south end of the station, with fare control located on a short extension of the platform.

The simplest type of vaulted roof is the barrel vault in which a single arched surface extends from wall to wall, the length of the space to be vaulted, for example, the nave of a church. An important example, which retains Medieval paintings, is the vault of Saint- Savin-sur-Gartempe, France, of the early 12th century. However, the barrel vault generally required the support of solid walls, or walls in which the windows were very small.

Commuter rail service on the Shawmut Branch ended in September 1926. The Boston Elevated Railway, which had bought the line, began converting it into the Dorchester Extension, a rapid transit extension of the Cambridge- Dorchester Tunnel line. Savin Hill, located on the Old Colony mainline, was rebuilt as a rapid transit station as part of the extension. The commuter rail platforms and station buildings were removed, though a temporary station was used until November 4, 1927.

The contractor Thomas Savin was undertaking all the remaining construction work for the A&WCR; section of the Cambrian Railways, as well as working the traffic. He had accepted company shares as the major part of payment for his construction work, and he was directly financing company outlays from his own resources. On 5 February 1866 he found himself in serious financial difficulty, and was in effect bankrupt. This put the Cambrian company into difficulty as well.

Savin comes from a rugby family, which meant he was more interested in a sports career. But a strong conviction led him to Paris to try a career as an actor. He was a hospital agent at the Bichat hospital in Paris from 1985 to 1988, and then passed the (Drama school) Cours Florent free class competition. It was during an audition that he met Xavier Durringer (playwright , screenwriter and filmmaker) with whom he still works today.

Somewhere within that period of time, a Russian communications officer heard the words "Welcome to Hell," on his headset. Shortly after, Chechen fighters, hiding in the depot buildings, the post office, and the five-story building surrounding the station, opened devastating automatic and anti-tank fire. The surviving Russian soldiers took cover inside the station, which the Chechens soon set ablaze. Russian commanding officer Colonel Ivan Savin radioed for help and artillery fire, which never came.

Most of Savin's railway can be traced today. There is a fine bridge at Brook House, that has a high arch to accommodate the tall chimneys of the locomotives used on the line. It seems that there was an existing bridge taking the lane over Nant-y-Caws brook, now referred to as the Garden Bridge. Savin built a new bridge to take the lane over both railway and brook, and realigned the lane over the new bridge.

After the album Love Has No Reason yielded the No. 1 Country single, "Are You On The Road To Lovin' Me Again", Debby Boone returned to producer Larry Butler for her fifth studio album, Savin' It Up (No. 49 Country), in 1981. The result was not as successful. The album's first single, "Perfect Fool", only reached No. 23 Country and No. 37 AC. The follow-up, "It'll Be Him", missed the Country Top 40 peaking at No. 46.

West Haven Center is served by the various 265 and 271 routes (main service along Campbell Avenue). The 265B service continues to Saw Mill Road and Bull Hill Lane; the 265R service run along Jones Hill Road and terminate at the Baybrook Shopping Center near Oyster River; the 265S service continues to Savin Rock via Second Avenue. The Route 271M/S routes run along the West Haven shore towards Milford. The Route 261 route serves the areas along Orange Avenue.

West Haven Green is the town green of the New England town of West Haven, Connecticut. The green is bordered by Church Street on the south, Savin Avenue on the west, Main Street on the north and Campbell Avenue on the east. The green and surrounding buildings are part of the West Haven Green Historic District. There is a sidewalk around the perimeter of the green and paths into the green from the corners and mid-blocks meeting at the center.

The first sod was turned by Lady Tredegar near Brecon on 10 April 1860. However shareholders complained that too many of the directors were from London and were too distant. At a half-yearly meeting in February 1861, they refused to re-elect one of the London directors and substituted a local man. This resulted in serious disruption by the contractor who had close ties to the director, and the disruption was such that the company replaced the contractor by Thomas Savin.

The John F. Kennedy Library and Museum is located on the west shore of the bay at the end of the Columbia Point peninsula. Day Boulevard, one of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation parkways and part of the Metropolitan Park System of Greater Boston, travels along the northern shore of Dorchester Bay, offering panoramic views of the bay and islands. The waters of Dorchester Bay include Pleasure Bay, Old Harbor, Western Way, Squantum Channel, Savin Hill Cove, and Dorchester Bay Basin.

Central Connecticut and Hartford first played each other in baseball in 1985. Central started to dominate the series in the early part of the millennium, with its teams making multiple trips to the NCAA tournament. In 2010 CCSU completed construction of Balf–Savin Field on campus, their first game in the new stadium was a 12-11 loss to Hartford. Starting in 2018, Central Connecticut and Hartford played against each other at Dunkin' Donuts Park in downtown Hartford in March and in May.

In 1857 Savin formed a partnership with David Davies to build the Vale of Clwyd Railway. The partnership was the principal contractor for many of the lines that became the Cambrian Railways. The partnership was dissolved in 1860. He also had an interest in or worked on a number of secondary and minor railways, including the Brecon and Merthyr Tydfil Junction Railway, the Hereford, Hay and Brecon Railway, the narrow gauge Corris Railway, the Kington & Eardisley Railway and the Bishop's Castle Railway.

"Savin' Me" is a song written by Canadian band Nickelback. It was released as the third major single from their fifth studio album, All the Right Reasons (2005). The song reached number two on the Canadian Singles Chart, became another top ten hit for the band in New Zealand, peaking at number nine, and peaked at number nineteen on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. It is one of the band's few videos in which they are not shown performing.

The mill made black powder, mixing imported sulphur and saltpetre with charcoal, which initially was made locally. It adopted the suggestion of government adviser Richard Watson, to control the conditions under which charcoal was prepared, as charcoal cylinders, for greater reliability. The large demand created for charcoal was met from coppices on Windermere, Coniston Water and Esthwaite Water. The best woods from the point of view of powder grain size were juniper (local name "savin"), followed by alder and silver birch.

The radical wing of the Liberal Party watched these developments with concern. Dorchester Reporter, Dorchester MA USA In the northern section of Dorchester and southwestern section of South Boston is the Polish Triangle, where recent Polish immigrants are residents. Savin Hill, as well as Fields Corner, have large Vietnamese American populations. Uphams Corner contains a Cape Verdean American community, the largest concentration of people of Cape Verdean origin within Boston city limits. Western, central and parts of southern Dorchester have a large Caribbean population (especially people from Haiti, Jamaica, Barbados, and Trinidad and Tobago).

Savin Hill reopened on November 5, 1927 along with Columbia and Fields Corner as part of the first phase of the extension. In 1934, the Boston Elevated Railway requested the addition of a busway on the west side of the station. Construction on the busway and a pedestrian overpass to the platform began in August and finished in December 1934. Fare control was relocated to the platform level; a platform extension to the south was constructed - without interrupting train service - to accommodate this.

Walsh was born in Dorchester, Boston, to John Walsh, an Irish American originally from Callowfeenish, a townland near Carna, County Galway, and Mary (née O'Malley), from Rosmuc, Co. Galway. The couple emigrated to the United States in the 1950s and gave birth to Marty in 1967. Walsh grew up in the Savin Hill area of Boston's Dorchester neighborhood. He was diagnosed with Burkitt's lymphoma at age 7, forcing him to miss most of second and third grade and repeat fifth grade.

Kerry station building The next branch to open was the Kerry branch; it had been authorised on 17 May 1861. It ran just under four miles through the Mule Gorge in the hills from Abermule. It was built largely on the initiative of a prosperous farmer, John Wilkes. He agitated strongly for a line to serve the hills as the O&NR; was under construction and, on 26 September 1861, Savin agreed to build the branch on the same terms as the main line.

On August 14, 1987 Bruce Springsteen joined The Fairlanes as a guest during a performance at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The set included a version of "Savin’ Up", a Springsteen original recorded by Clarence Clemons. In 2014, on the first day of production of Midnight Rider, camera assistant Sarah Jones was killed during the filming of a scene. The film was never completed. A police investigation in the town of Jesup, Georgia concluded that Miller and crew were trespassing on an operating railway line and that the train was unscheduled. Charges for criminal trespassing and involuntary manslaughter were eventually brought against Miller, his wife Jody Savin (Producer), Jay Sedrish (Producer/UPM), and Hillary Schwartz (1st Assistant Director) for Jones' death.

A British schooner, towing barges loaded with armed marines, chased the American whaleboats back to their encampment in Squantum and Dorchester. One American soldier was killed on Moon Island. Moon Island was not connected to Squantum at this time and a waterway was open from behind Squantum (Squaw Rock) across the mouth of the Neponset River to a large rock called Savin Hill. On Sunday, March 17, 1776, British ships evacuated Boston under pressure from George Washington's forces on the heights on Dorchester (now South Boston).

In 1860 local entrepreneur Thomas Savin constructed a railway to link the Morda pits to the main line of the Cambrian Railway at Whitehaven, near Llynclys. The railway opened in 1861 but Savin's bankruptcy in 1866 ended matters and his mine closed in 1869. As some of the mines in the area became flooded, their owners turned instead to utilising the clay dug out as a by-product of mining. This clay was most often used in the making of bricks and pottery items.

Anatoly Savin was born in Ostashkov, Russia in 1920. He graduated from the Bauman Moscow Higher Technical School before World War II. After graduating he worked at Gorky Artillery Plant where in 1943 he was appointed Chief Designer. From 1945 he worked for the Soviet nuclear program designing equipment for work with nuclear fuel. In 1951 he was assigned to Design Bureau 1 (future Almaz-Antey), where he worked on the project "Satellite Destroyer", creating a system for intercepting enemy satellites on near-Earth orbits.

The MBTA broke ground for the Red Line Rehabilitation Project - a $67 million reconstruction of Shawmut, Fields Corner, and Savin Hill stations - in October 2003. Construction began in March 2004. The 1927-built station was closed on May 9, 2004, and was completely razed to make way for the new ADA-compliant station which involved adding elevators for full accessibility. A bus shuttle was run from JFK/UMass station during the 14-month closure, which ended with the opening of the new station on July 31, 2005.

During his professional boxing career he received sponsorship by the boxing equipment and sportswear company Ben Lee, which would also sponsor his younger brother, James. As a professional boxer he worked with professional welterweight boxer and trainer Andy Escobar, Connors was his only client. He later opened up several barrooms in Revere and Dorchester, Massachusetts including "The Bulldog Tavern" in Savin Hill which began a hangout for known mob associates, loansharking and bookmaking. He is a close friend of Winter Hill Gang associate Alan Fidler.

In the 12th century, a conflict arose between the inhabitants of Lavedan and those of the Aspe Valley for a theft of livestock; the result was the death of several Aspe people. The Bishop of Comminges, Bertrand excommunicated the Bigorre people who were repentant. They were sentenced to life imprisonment and to pay a yearly fine on the day of Saint Michel in the Church of Saint- Savin. It was regularly paid until 1789, and it was known as the tribut des Médailles [tribute of the medals].

Dragon Flyz is a 1996-1997 French-American animated television series created by Savin Yeatman-Eiffel and produced by Gaumont Multimédia (later renamed Xilam Animation), in association with Abrams/Gentile Entertainment. The show, based on a toy line by Galoob, ran for two seasons, in syndication in the US and Europe. 26 episodes were produced. The program centers on a coalition known as the Dragonators (a combination of "dragon" and "aviators"), a set of humans who ride on dragon-back in search-and-rescue operations.

A stone chess table with seating is located near Main Street. At the north end of Main Street is a stone monument to West Haven fire fighters, on top of which is a large bell. Upon the proposal of his professor Irineu Mihălcescu, he was selected for a scholarship that allowed him to take specialized courses in philosophy and theology at Berlin and Heidelberg from 1910 to 1915. He obtained a doctorate under the supervision of Ernst Troeltsch. Savin saw combat as a second lieutenant in World War I. Afterwards, he taught Romanian and German at Bolhrad High School in the newly acquired Bessarabia province. In 1920, he was called to the national capital Bucharest to become inspector general at the Religious Affairs and Arts Ministry.

Savin's works sought to defend religious and moral values, addressing issues relevant to his day. He was also interested in dialogue between religion and science, as well as culture. The author of several anti-Bolshevik works, he was forced to retire in 1948, at the onset of the communist regime. In 1779 the British attacked New Haven Harbor and came ashore in West Haven. Thomas Painter, a militiaman watching for British ships from atop Savin Rock, is depicted on the city seal. The main commercial street, Campbell Avenue, is named for British Adjutant William Campbell, who stopped to help a minister who had been wounded, saving him from being killed, supposedly saying "We make war on soldiers, not civilians" Campbell himself was killed later that day (July 5, 1779) on Allingtown Hill. Campbell is buried in the Allingtown section.

Raicu Ionescu-Rion (born Raicu Ionescu; August 24, 1872 - April 19, 1895) was a Romanian literary critic and socialist commentator. Born in Bălăbănești, Galați County, he came from a poor peasant family. He attended primary school in Tăcuta village (1879-1882), high school in Bârlad (1882-1889) and the faculty of literature and philosophy at Iași University (1890-1893), meanwhile taking classes on a scholarship at the higher normal school. While in high school in 1887, together with Garabet Ibrăileanu, N. Savin, D. Moscu and T. Cardaș, he founded the socialist Orientul literary society.

He was the vice-president of the Victorian Club and a freemason. Politically, he was a Republican and a member of the United Empire Loyalists' Association of Canada. A keen yachtsman, he was commodore of the Savin Hill Yacht Club, the Rock Hill Yacht Club, and the South Boston Yacht Club which he founded. Around 1874, he and two friends sailed a schooner to South America to prospect in French and Dutch Guiana for gold and it was said in his obituary that they discovered the first gold in Dutch Guiana.

In the next building campaign, three bays of the nave were added, the bell tower and its porch, and finally the last six bays of the nave. The bell tower is finished by a fine stone spire more than 80 meters high, added in the 14th century and restored in the 19th century. The barrel vaulted nave is supported on magnificently-scaled columns with foliate capitals. Below the church is the crypt of the martyr brothers St Savin and St Cyprian, decorated with frescos depicting scenes from their lives.

Meeting House Hill was settled in the 17th century by Puritans who arrived on the Mary and John. It was originally called Rocky Hill, after the puddingstone outcroppings along its eastern slope. Most of the earliest homes in Dorchester were built on Savin Hill and Allens Plain (now the intersection of Pond, Cottage, and Pleasant Streets), but by 1668 there were at least two homesteads and a schoolhouse on the lower slope of Rocky Hill. Both the First Parish Church and the Mather School, named for its pastor, were originally located on Allens Plain.

The 15 Fields Corner Station or Kane Square–Ruggles Station route runs from Kane Square, several blocks west of Savin Hill, west on Hancock Street and Dudley Street past Uphams Corner to Nubian station, continuing west on Malcolm X Boulevard to Roxbury Crossing and north on Tremont Street to Ruggles station. Aberystwyth - Carmarthen train at Talerddig A contract for the construction was let to the partnership of David Davies and Thomas Savin, in the amount of £130,000, of which £23,000 was to be paid in paid-up shares and £5,000 as a loan. The terrain was not easy for the construction. There was to be a tunnel at the Talerddig summit, but this was changed to a cutting in the rock. Briwnant- Jones suggests that the rock material was found to be suitable for the construction of bridges on the line, and that the change had a beneficial effect on the contractors' costs.

The company had found raising the subscriptions for construction almost impossible, and the contractors David Davies and Thomas Savin, enjoying considerable success in railway building in Wales, had agreed to construct the line, taking shares as most of their payment. This saved the company, which would otherwise almost certainly have failed. On 2 September 1859 the first sod of the northern part of the Mid-Wales Railway was cut at Rhayader. Henry Conybeare briefly replaced Piercy as the company's chief engineer, before being himself replaced by Piercy's former deputy, George Owen. It is uncertain which of these were responsible for designing Pont Briwet. During February 1866, the construction of the bridge was dealt a major setback when the contractor responsible for building it, Thomas Savin, was declared bankrupt. As a consequence, Pont Briwet was not completed until the following year, being officially opened on 10 October 1867. The road over the bridge acted to remove an otherwise-necessary 13 kilometer (8 mile) detour via Maentwrog, a major boon to local residents.

In an attempt to halt Miller's and Savin's effort to resume filming Midnight Rider, Allman, the subject of the film and executive producer, filed suit on April 28, 2014, in Chatham County Superior Court. He claimed that Miller and Savin had failed to pay the agreed option price for the film rights or to start primary photography by the date stipulated in the option contract. After one day of court proceedings that included Miller testifying, the trial ended when Allman's and Miller's attorneys agreed to an out-of-court settlement. As was the case in a few other villages and towns in Hautes-Pyrénées, the town of Saint- Savin included a small community of Cagots, a minority group that was despised for obscure reasons. They were treated as if they were lepers and dangerously infectious, though investigations even by 17th century doctors found no evidence of this. The Llanelly company could not afford to ignore the potential of a connection to Swansea and Carmarthen, even though it would diminish the value of its own dock. Since the Company was short of capital, the way forward had to include a means of financing the new lines. On successive days in October 1860, rival entrepreneurs waited on the Llanelly Board with proposals for connecting the line. Richard Kyrke Penson, Thomas Savin and a man named Johns proposed that the Llanelly company promote railways from Pontardulais to Swansea, from Llandilo to Carmarthen, and from Llandovery to Brecon, which they would finance.

Mike McColgan (2005) Mike McColgan (2015) Michael "Mike" McColgan is an American musician, and the current lead singer of the Street Dogs and former member and original lead singer of the American Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys. McColgan was born in the Savin Hill area of Dorchester, Massachusetts, and attended Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. His interest in music began while he sang in the school's choir. McColgan joined the U.S. Army in 1989 and served in 4th Battalion 82nd Field Artillery, Charlie Battery in the first Gulf war before becoming a founding member of the Dropkick Murphys in 1996.

The railway follows the north shore of the Afon Dyfi The A&WCR;'s engineer Benjamin Piercy was dismissed from the company's service early in 1864 as part of a power struggle between Thomas Savin and other factions on the board. He had been progressing the design of the Dovey bridge, but practical and financial difficulties with it had been emerging. In particular finding a good foundation stratum was proving extremely difficult. Piercy's expulsion gave an opportunity to revisit the plan to bridge the estuary, and in May 1864 the decision was taken to abandon the bridging plan.

It was the action of a contractor partnership, Davies and Savin, in agreeing to accept shares as the majority of their payment for construction work, that saved the company from failure. Forming a local network with other local concerns, the O&NR; amalgamated with them, forming the Cambrian Railways, in 1863. The industry in the area was not buoyant and hoped-for long-distance traffic did not materialise, although the development of Aberystwyth as a resort provided a useful benefit. The railway connected to the emerging national network at Oswestry, but the later connection of the Shrewsbury and Welshpool Railway abstracted traffic from the northern part of the system.

Below the high rocky areas is an underbrush made up of rockroses and savin junipers which become a pine thicket farther way from the rock face. At the heart of the small valleys that make up La Pedriza runs the Manzanares river at the high river basin of its course. Aberystwyth had a population of 5,561 in 1861. The Newtown and Machynlleth Railway promoters had long harboured designs on reaching Aberystwyth; indeed Thomas Savin thought the entire coast from there northwards needed to be developed by a railway and hotels. Constructing the N&MR;'s own line exhausted its resources, and it was an independent company, the Aberystwyth and Welsh Coast Railway (officially spelt Aberystwith and Welsh Coast Railway at first), that was authorised on 22 July 1861.Grant, page 6 It was to build a line from Aberystwyth to Pwllheli, crossing the River Dyfi, then spelt Dovey, near its mouth by a large bridge.

When the Hay Tramway was authorised for conversion to a railway in 1859, it was decided that its extension, the Kington Tramway, would also need to be converted. The tramway shares were bought for £45 for each £100 share by an agreement dated 19 December 1861. The Kington and Eardisley Railway Act received Royal Assent on 30 June 1862, authorising the company to raise £100,000, buy and convert the Kington Tramway to standard gauge and build a link from Lyonshall to Marston, which was never built. Thomas Savin, the railway contractor, backed the scheme, though his £16,000 of shares were sold when he went bankrupt in January 1866.

A train from Hereford at Three Cocks Junction in 1949 In 1865 the HH&BR; decided to proceed with the amalgamation with the Brecon and Merthyr Railway, and this took effect from 25 August 1865, authorised by Act of 5 July 1865. The line had originally been worked by the contractor, Thomas Savin, but it seems that the Great Western Railway worked the line between 26 August 1865 and 5 February 1866. After that the Brecon and Merthyr provided engine power during the amalgamated period and up to 30 September 1868. The combined company (also known as the Brecon and Merthyr Railway) was short of money.

Andrew station under construction in April 1917 A route trolley at the surface station in the 1940s The station opened in June 1918 as the southern terminus of the Cambridge–Dorchester line, and quickly replaced Broadway as the primary streetcar transfer point for South Boston. A multiple track streetcar station was built on the surface, with direct connections from the rapid transit platforms. Andrew was the terminus of the line until November 1927, when Columbia, Savin Hill, and Fields Corner stations opened on the Ashmont branch. The fare mezzanines and staircases were reconfigured over the years as streetcars were replaced by trackless trolleys and later buses.

Miller and Sedrish entered guilty pleas to felony involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespassing, while charges were dropped against Savin as part of Miller's plea. Miller received a sentence of 10 years, of which he was expected to serve two years in prison followed by probation (during which he would be precluded from working as a director or assistant director or other capacity involving employee safety) as well as pay a fine and do community service. He was immediately remanded to custody after the plea hearing to begin serving his sentence in the Wayne County jail. He was released in March 2016 after serving one year of his term.

In 1515 he lectured at the University of Pavia on the Pimander of Hermes Trismegistus, but these lectures were abruptly terminated owing to the victories of Francis I, King of France. In 1518 the efforts of one or other of his patrons secured for Agrippa the position of town advocate and orator, or syndic, at Metz. Here, as at Dôle, his opinions soon brought him into collision with the monks, and his defense of a woman accused of witchcraft involved him in a dispute with the inquisitor, Nicholas Savin. The consequence of this was that in 1520 he resigned his office and returned to Cologne, where he stayed about two years.

With the exception of Park Street - which was built with three platforms to handle crowds - Broadway was the only station on the original Cambridge- Dorchester Tunnel with an island platform (rather than two side platforms) in order to facilitate transfers through its three levels. Not until the aboveground Columbia and Savin Hill stations opened in 1927 were there other island platforms used on the line. Broadway station was originally built as a three-level station, with six stairways to allow easy transfer between streetcars and subway trains. Some streetcars stopped at a surface-level platform, others in a tunnel segment just below ground, while subway trains used the lowest-level tunnel.

The WCC acknowledged the work of Professor Fischer, in the last eight years as Honorary President, and in the last fifteen supporting the work of the council. The first duty of Professor Blakemore as new Honorary President was to present the Presidential Emeritus medal to Professor Fischer.

Accordingly, they would take a ten-year lease of the Llanelly Company; at the time the Llanelly Company was only earning 1% and an apparently guaranteed 4% (after five years) appeared very attractive. The following day Henry Robertson appeared proposing joint construction of the Swansea and Carmarthen lines with the Central Wales Railway, and running powers over the Central Wales line from Craven Arms, not far from Shrewsbury on the Shrewsbury and Hereford Railway. The Llanelly directors favoured Penson and his partners, and the arrangement was agreed at a shareholders’ Extraordinary General Meeting on 31 October 1860. The partners soon turned out to be insubstantial, as Johns and then Savin withdrew.

Due to shortage of subscription money from general investors, the Newtown and Machynlleth Railway was in the hands of a successful partnership of railway contractors, David Davies and Thomas Savin, who put up most of the construction money and took paid up shares as the majority of their payment.

He also wrote two plays for children, which were staged in Celje: Ušesa carja Kozmijana (Tsar Cosmian's Ears, 1948) and Desetnica Alenčica (Magda the Tenth-Born, 1951). For adults, he wrote the comedy Mokrodolci (The People of Mokri Dol), staged in 1946. He also collaborated with the composer Risto Savin, for whom he wrote librettos for the operas Gosposvetski sen (Maria Saal Dream, 1921) and Matija Gubec (1923).

Buttington railway stationThe first sixteen miles from Oswestry to Pool Quay was opened on 1 May 1860, as a single line on double-line formation. Two more sections were opened on 14 August 1860: from Pool Quay to Welshpool, and an isolated five-mile stretch from Abermule to Newtown, where a joint station was made with the Llanidloes and Newtown Railway. Abermule to Welshpool opened on 10 June 1861. By this time there had been a serious rupture in the partnership between Davies and Savin, and it was the latter who undertook the working of trains on the O&NR; he did so by agreement of 26 July 1861, for 55% of gross receipts.

At the same, Pembroke's own agents had recruited 300 men in England to join his force, and they were soon due to sail. Pembroke's embarrassment, says historian R. I. Jack, "did nothing to abate the ill feeling between the two leaders" and "was a serious blow to Edward III's attempts to stabilize Aquitaine." Not only had the escapade damaged the English cause in the region, but it led directly to Chandos' failure later in the year to recapture Abbey at Saint-Savin, Vienne, where Chandos' met an untimely death. This was a major loss for the English, as neither of the remaining English captains in France, including Pembroke, had the personal skill or qualities that Chandos had had.

Garages at Salem and Beverly Depot were originally to fill this requirement, but when it became clear that neither would be finished in 2011, additional parking at Wonderland, Woodland, Savin Hill, the Quincy ferry terminal, and a surface lot at Beverly Depot were used to satisfy it. However, planning continued for a garage and new platform at Salem. Funding was provided by the Federal Transit Administration ($3.6 million), the Massachusetts Department of Capital Asset Management ($3 million to reserve 150 spaces for the Essex County Courthouse), the City of Salem, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the MBTA. Planners initially considered a garage of up to 750 spaces; after various changes, the five-story garage was built with 714 spaces.

Forward Gal (foaled 1968 in Florida) was an American Thoroughbred Champion racehorse. Out of the mare, Forward Thrust, she was sired by Florida Derby winner Native Charger who also sired 1970 Belmont Stakes winner High Echelon. Bred by Abraham Savin and raced under the colors of his Aisco Stable, Forward Gal was trained by future U.S. Racing Hall of Fame inductee, Warren Croll. In 1970 Forward Gal's performances earned her American Champion Two-Year-Old Filly honors and although she did not repeat as champion at age three, she was one of the top fillies in her age group and under jockey Michael Hole won several important races including the 1971 Gazelle Handicap and Comely Stakes.

A crisis came when Watson & Overend gave up their lease and stopped working the line as a result of the failure of Savin, who had backed Watson financially. At short notice the MWR company had to find an alternative way to work the line. In late February 1865 the directors tried to interest other companies in working it, including the Midland Railway and the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, both of which were known to be interested in expanding their activities in Wales; however both declined. Under an 1871 Agreement the Mid-Wales paid the B&MR; £400 per annum plus £400 for working expenses for both the Brecon and Talyllyn stations.

The original L&NR; locomotives were of the 0-4-2 tender type, built by Sharps in 1859-60. Nothing is known of Llewelyn, which was the property of Davies and Savin, but Milford was an 0-4-2 saddle tank built by Sharps in 1859 for them. In Cambrian days, various Cambrian engines were drafted in, and later the Great Western Railway Dean Goods was used on the line. Under British Railways, the two- and three-coach passenger trains were worked by ex-LMS 2-6-0s. Occasionally BR standard 2-6-0 engines appeared on trains proceeding only as far as Llanidloes, to which (from Moat Lane) the route classification was “yellow”.

Another account of Smyrna's name goes back to the Second Great Awakening of 1806-1807 when Methodist preacher Frances Asbury preached a sermon on the Church at Smyrna from Revelation 2 to the local Methodist society. The sermon was so well received that the residents changed the name of the town to Smyrna in honor of the sermon. The Bannister Hall and Baynard House, Belmont Hall, David J. Cummins House, Timothy Cummins House, Duck Creek Village, George Farmhouse, Ivy Dale Farm, Mount Pleasant, Moore House, Peterson and Mustard's Hermitage Farm, Savin-Wilson House, Short's Landing Hotel Complex, Smyrna Historic District, John M. Voshell House, and Woodlawn are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It is reputed that he bought up the entire year's production of sheep fleeces in Ceredigion to lay as a foundation for the railway line on the bog.

The company's trains were being worked by Thomas Savin and John Ward, who paid the proprietors 5% on their capital, but early in 1866 [or 1865] the contractor failed. Suddenly the B&MR; was unable to deal with its own financial commitments and it starting to miss debenture payments, and the Company went into administration. This meant that it was unable to complete the Merthyr branch, and the restrictive clauses in its Acts meant that it oriented from opening the line through to Newport. In 1868 and again in 1870 financial arrangements were made with creditors, which enabled the company to carry on; debentures were converted to debenture stock and the company was enabled to continue.

Chesnutt's eleventh album, Savin' the Honky Tonk, was released in 2004 via the independent Vivaton! label. Jimmy Ritchey was the album's producer, and one of several contributing songwriters along with Chesnutt, Jerry Salley, Dean Miller, Jason Sellers, and Kevin Fowler. Chesnutt said that he intended for the album to be a return to the honky-tonk sounds of his earlier albums, and felt that being on an independent label allowed for him to record music that he wanted to record, as opposed to being pressured into recording songs that were forced upon him by major-label executives. The album accounted for three singles: "The Lord Loves the Drinkin' Man", "I'm a Saint", and "A Hard Secret to Keep".

As yet no examples the use of the terracotta from these brickyards for domestic buildings is known, although the Trefonen brickyard, which was described as a terracotta works, was later owned by the railway engineer Thomas Savin and may have been used for some of his projects. James Kellaway Colling used extensive terracotta decoration for Garthmyl Hall, Berriew in Berriew in Montgomeryshire. This was almost certainly sourced from J M Blashfield's terracotta works at Stamford. Offices and Gatehouse to J C Edwards Terra cotta works at Pen-y-bont Pierhead Building Cardiff, detailing From about this time terracotta production with matching bricks started to be produced on a large scale in the Wrexham area in association with mines of the north Wales Coalfield.

By the time they started recording their first album, they yet again had someone else on bass, this time Johnny Rioux. Savin Hill (which was produced by former The Mighty Mighty Bosstones member Nate Albert and featured guest appearances by Al Barr and Ken Casey from Dropkick Murphys) was a success and resulted in a supporting tour with Celtic punk band Flogging Molly. The band underwent a complete shuffle in 2004 when McColgan took a leave of absence from his firefighting career to devote time to recording and promoting their second album Back to the World.The Street Dogs at this time enlisted Marcus Hollar on lead guitar, and expanded the range of their sound with the addition of rhythm guitarist Tobe Bean III.

Serge Noskov (born 1956 in Syktyvkar, Komi Republic, Soviet Union) is a composer. In 1986 he graduated from Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod) State Conservatoire as a composer, as well as a music theory and history teacher. His graduation compositions were: 1st Symphony for triple cast symphony orchestra, "Nonet" – chamber composition in three movements for 9 instruments, “Dreams” – vocal cycle for baritone and 4 instruments, set on his own poems. After the graduation, he returned to Syktyvkar, where he wrote the 1st String Quartet, “Psalms” for a choir a'capella on texts of a poem by Victor Savin in Komi language, and the Bible, musical “Ogorod”, numerous songs with lyrics by Komi poets of 19th century, also, a few songs for a pop-group “Aski”.

The center holds a unique collection of works by photojournalists and club photographers from the 1960s-1970s: Valentin Khukhlaev, Andrey Knyazev, Vasily Egorov, Mikhail Savin, Vsevolod Tarasevich, Alexander Abaza, Lev Borodulin, Nina Sviridova and Dmitri Vozdvyzhensky, Igor Gavrilov, Nikolay Drachinsky, Yuri Krivonosov, Vladimir Lagrange, Yuri Lunkov, Lev Sherstennikov. The center also houses an important collection of works by the founders of the Lithuanian school that emerged during the period: Antanas Sutkus, Alexander Maciyauskas, Vitaly Butirinas, Romualdas Požerskis, Vaclav Straukas, Vergilius Shonta.

The Southeast Expressway was constructed between 1954 and 1959, at the same time the John F. Fitzgerald Expressway (Central Artery) was built. Its northern terminus is at Exit 18 (Massachusetts Avenue) in South Boston, a former Y-interchange where the cancelled Inner Belt (I-695) was to meet with the expressway and the Central Artery. The southern terminus is at the Y-interchange (the "Braintree Split") at Exit 7 in Braintree (the former southern terminus of Route 128). A section of the Expressway, beginning south of the Savin Hill overpass and ending just before the Braintree Split utilizes a zipper lane, in which a movable barrier carves out a reversible high occupancy vehicle lane on the non-peak side of the highway during rush hour.

If Savin was indeed aged 126 when he died, in Russia, where he had resided for more than eighty years, he would be the longest-lived man on record, and the longest-lived human of any gender. However, as this age has not been verified, the record for the oldest man is held by the Japanese-born Jiroemon Kimura (1897–2013), who died at the verified age of 116. The record for the longest verified lifespan of a human is currently 122 years, held by the Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment (1875–1997) and that was challenged in 2018. In 2003 the Russian historian V. Totfalushin found a document in the Russian State Historical Archives which casts doubts on Savin's claimed age and provides some interesting details about him.

Born Maria Podramentsova into a family of stage actors, she debuted in Minsk in 1869, then joined the Mikhail Leontovsky troupe in Kharkov. While there, she married the actor N. N. Slavich who used the stage name Savin, and has been known as Marya Savina ever since. In 1874 Savina, then the leading actress at the Saratov Theatre, moved to Saint Petersburg to join the Alexandrinsky Theatre. It was there that she became famous, mostly for her parts in Alexander Ostrovsky's plays (including Without a Dowry, Talents and Admirers, A Profitable Position, Hard-Earned Bread, The Last Victim, Vasilisa Melentyeva, Wild Thing), as well as in Nikolai Gogol's Revizor, Ivan Turgenev's A Month in the Country and Leo Tolstoy's The Power of Darkness, among others.

An eastbound stopping train at Machynlleth in 1951The rupture with the GWR over working arrangements having proved final, the company called on the Oswestry and Newtown Railway to work its line; the O&NR; was already working the Llanidloes and Newtown Railway. In practice it was Thomas Savin actually working the O&NR; by contract, and the contract was extended to cover the N&MR; also. The limited motive power and rolling stock of the N&MR; was inadequate, and the N&MR; arranged with David Davies to spend up to £20,000 on additional rolling stock as a matter of urgency. The negotiation with the O&NR; developed into an agreement to amalgamate; the agreement, arranged under the O&NR;'s 1860 Act, meant that the O&NR; leased the N&MR; for 100 years.

Miller and Tokuda divorced in 1977. Then in his late 80s, Miller filmed with Warren Beatty for the 1981 film Reds, which was also directed by Beatty.

The Old College Building is on the seafront and replaced Castle House, which had been built for Uvedale Price by John Nash in 1791–1794. Castle House had been bought by the railway entrepreneur Thomas Savin in 1864 and he employed Seddon to rebuild it as a hotel. Following Savin's bankruptcy in 1866, it was purchased by the future university and until 1890 Seddon together with his partner John Coates Carter continued to rebuild and extend the building. The Builder described it as one of the most original and characteristic monuments of the Gothic Revival, while Thomas Lloyd writes Seddon's originality lies in his very fluid use of curves and complex geometrical forms, and in the blurring of angles and joints, syncopation that has something of Art Nouveau.

Newton and Bailey played twice as a duo (two guitars with two-part harmonies) when they were approached by Steve Jenks after their second gig at The Crater in Somerville, MA (near Tufts University). That same week, four phone calls came in from Newton's hand- written ad posted at The Berklee School of Music looking for a drummer, the fourth call being Mark Tuner (a copier salesman in the main Boston office of Savin). The band had its first practice the next Saturday in the small garage behind the house where Newton was renting a room in Watertown, MA. The band perfected a super tight 13-song set of original music, plus three punk-new wave cover versions of: "Show Me The Way" (Peter Frampton), "Badlands" (Bruce Springsteen), and "Runaway" (Del Shannon).

The A&WCR; concentrated its construction work on the Machynlleth "branch", as it was clear that this offered better hopes of an early income, compared with the main line crossing the Dovey estuary. In addition, the deadline set by the clause in the Act had to be achieved. The line was opened from Machynlleth as far as Borth on 1 July 1863; it was worked by Thomas Savin, the contractor who had built the line, for the time being. Opening of the rest of the Aberystwyth line, from Borth to Aberystwyth, was achieved for goods traffic on 23 June 1864; passenger operation had been refused by the Board of Trade inspecting officer, Captain Tyler, but rectification work was put in hand, and passengers were carried from 1 August 1864.

The HH&BR; was a struggling local line, much of it built by Thomas Savin, contractor and builder of many Welsh lines. It was completed in 1864. Like most local lines it was eventually rescued by a larger company - not the Great Western Railway, in whose territory it might be thought to lie - but the Midland Railway, which used it and other lines which it acquired or had running powers over, to put together a through route from Birmingham to Swansea via Hereford, Brecon, the Neath and Brecon Railway and the Swansea Vale Railway. The Golden Valley Railway, which had its northern junction at Hay and ran through the Golden Valley to Pontrilas, was built between 1876 and 1889, was closed down in 1898, and then rescued by the Great Western Railway in 1901.

Thomas Savin actually made the purchase of the HH&BR; part, receiving HH&BR; shares for his outlay. The HH&BR; went south as far as a location called Aberllynvy near Glasbury, and the junction station became known as Three Cocks Junction after an inn nearby. The end-on junction with the Mid-Wales Railway was 29 chains north of Three Cocks Junction station; the reason for this is that it was originally intended by the Mid-Wales to build a north curve, making a triangle at Three Cocks; the boundary between the two companies would have been at the north- east apex of the triangle. The powers to build from Aberllynvy to Talyllyn were transferred to the Mid-Wales Railway, and the powers from there to Brecon were transferred to the Brecon and Merthyr Railway.

The Mid-Wales Railway systemThe Mid-Wales Railway was a railway company intended to make a trunk route through Wales, connecting industrial areas of north west England with sea ports in south west Wales. In fact it was prevented from reaching its goal by competing proposals in Parliament, and it was limited to a line between Llanidloes and a junction with the Brecon and Merthyr Railway five miles east of Brecon. It was seventy miles in length and opened in 1864. It had found it impossible to raise share subscription, but the contractor partnership of Davies and Savin agreed to build the line and take shares in payment, The line ran through sparsely populated terrain and had steep gradients and sharp curves, so that there was little local traffic and the limited long distance business was costly to operate.

As humans are totally unaffected by the attacks, the Angels require human assistance in order to seek out and destroy the transmissions at source, and have therefore returned to Paradise to recruit the only humans they can obtain. However, the Angels do not reveal this information, and instead feign an interest in the welfare of the colony in an attempt to gain the trust of the humans. At the same time they have secretly sent an android to kidnap the children (the same "sea monster" which accidentally killed Savin in a bungled abduction attempt). When rejected by the suspicious humans, the Angels resort to sabotage on a planetary scale, using terraforming equipment from the Challenger to melt Paradise's polar ice caps and thus raise the sea level in an attempt to get their former crew to rejoin them on the ship.

The first sod was turned on 18 January 1860; the contractors were David Davies and Thomas Savin, and a lease arrangement was concluded with them for ten years in which they guaranteed the proprietors 5% interest on capital. The Beacon Tunnel (official railway name 'Torpantau Tunnel') was completed by 11 January 1862 and on 28 August 1862 a trial run for the directors was undertaken between Pant and Talyllyn. The section between Talyllyn and Brecon was much slower to construct, partly because it was still in use by the Hay Railway; Talyllyn tunnel needed to be opened out with that traffic in operation. It was possible to run a locomotive through to Brecon on 1 January 1863, and on 12 February Captain Rich of the Board of Trade carried out an inspection for approval of passenger operation.

A Facebook group of crew members voicing opposition had grown to more than 10,800 members by April 23 when Hurt announced he was leaving the film. Hurt, who was scripted to be lying on the metal bed in the scene, wrote in an email to a friend that the production crew had twice assured him that the bridge scene was safe to film. In a personal letter Allman released to the press on April 25, he asked the producers not to proceed with the film, writing, "Your desires as a filmmaker should not outweigh your obligations as a human being, I am asking you to do the right thing and to set aside your attempts to resume the production out of respect for Sarah, her family and the loss that all of us feel so deeply." Allman later filed a civil suit against Miller and Savin in an attempt to halt the film.

In August 2005, Veterans For Peace Member, Desert storm veteran Dennis Kyne lead a group of veterans in support of Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a US Army soldier killed in Iraq who embarked on an extended anti-war vigil near the ranch of US President George W. Bush in Crawford, Texas. On August 5, 2005 Cindy spoke at the organization's 20th annual convention in Dallas, Texas, just a day before traveling to Crawford to begin her vigil. Members traveled from California to install an Arlington West display at "Camp Casey," the site of Sheehan's protest. In March 2006, Veterans For Peace and coalition partners Iraq Veterans Against the War, Gold Star Families for Peace, and Military Families Speak Out joined with Hurricane Katrina survivors and the relief and rebuilding organizations Savin' Ourselves After Katrina, Common Ground Collective, and Bayou Liberty Relief, as well as a number of African-American churches along the Gulf Coast on a march from Mobile, Alabama to New Orleans, Louisiana.

The order, or congregation, of Tiron was founded in about 1106 by the Benedictine Bernard de Ponthieu, also known as Bernard d'Abbeville (1046–1117), born in a small village near Abbeville, Ponthieu. Tonsured at the Benedictine Abbey of Saint- Cyprien in Poitiers around the year 1070, Bernard left the order in 1101 when his nomination as abbot of Saint-Savin-sur-Gartempe was disapproved by Cluny and Pope Paschal II. From then on Bernard lived first as a hermit on the island of Chausey, between Jersey and Saint-Malo, then in the woods of Craon, near Angers, with two other rigorist monks: Robert d'Arbrissel, future founder of the controversial Abbey of Fontevraud, and Vitalis de Mortain, later the founder of the Congregation of Savigny in 1113. Following the example of the Desert Fathers, all three men and their followers (men and women) lived detached from the world, in great poverty and strict penance.

Similar condemnation was expressed by other Gazeta Literară contributors: Savin Bratu (who alleged that Negoiţescu was one of those who circulated "names, works and ideas that we find foreign"); Mihai Gafiţa (who held Negoiţescu and his colleague Alexandru Piru responsible for preserving "bourgeois ideology", while urging "the editorial staffs of literary reviews, the publishing houses [and] the Marxist critics" to react against this phenomenon); as well as Mihail Petroveanu (according to whom the trend represented by Negoiţescu signified "the penetration of modernist, apolitical or profoundly retrograde, traditionalist tendencies" coupled with "the infiltrations of liberal objectivism in union with precious, inaccessible language"). In particular, such voices condemned the critic's praise of banned authors, among them Lovinescu, Blaga, Mateiu Caragiale, Ion Barbu and Titu Maiorescu. The same year, Negoiţescu was excluded from the Writers' Union, and had his right of signature officially withdrawn (meaning that his name could no longer be seen in print). Eventually, in 1961, he became a political prisoner at Jilava penitentiary, and was eventually released through a 1964 amnesty.

After the reforms of 1956 the division became the 9th Motor Rifle Division and was based at Maykop for many years. On 12 September 1992 the division was reorganised as the 131st Separate Motor Rifle order of Kutuzov and Red Star Brigade of the 67th Army Corps, North Caucasus Military District (). The brigade participated in the First Chechen War of 1994–96, including the New Year 1995 assault on Grozniy during the combat for the railway terminal where it suffered severe casualties in dead and wounded following an ambush by superior enemy numbers.artofwar.ru/p/piha_b_n/text_0010.shtml The battle for Grozny cost 157 casualties, including 24 officers (including Colonel Savin), one warrant officer () and 60 NCOs and soldiers killed and 12 officers, one warrant officer and 59 NCOs and soldiers missing (presumed dead). The brigade also lost 22 T-72 tanks, 45 BMP-2s, and 37 cars and trucks. although other sources give higher losses attributed to the 81st Motor Rifle Regiment which participated in the operation.
