Unlike the Dover reconstruction, this boat was sailable, and was successfully paddled around Falmouth Harbour, indicating that the technology represented by the Dover boat works well. For safety reasons, it has not yet been possible to take the boat onto the open sea.

Scraggane pier Scraggane () is a fishing port located on the Maharees peninsula near Castlegregory in County Kerry, Ireland. The main local catch consists of lobster, flat-back crab, spider crab, Atlantic crayfish, Atlantic salmon and mackerel. Scraggane is home to a fleet of about twenty fishing trawlers. Scraggane Bay is used as a flatwater windsurfing venue owing, and is also sailable in almost any conditions, regardless of wind direction.

This diverse and scattered category is highly dependent on private individuals. Only canal and inland waterways craft have a degree of structure, largely because of their links with the waterways. Others such as fishing boats, lifeboats and traditional river craft, are found all round the UK; most boats are privately owned and the majority are sailable. In museums, smaller vessels are typically overshadowed by larger ones, with steam possessing a strong following.

This was supported by two squadrons from Coastal Command equipped with Hudsons. No. 16 Group was authorised to create No. 279 Squadron RAF on 24 October to act as a specialised ASR squadron. No. 280 Squadron RAF was created on 28 November 1941 and was given Anson aircraft in place of Hudsons, as they were desperately needed for A/S operations. The two patrol boats were the last of the class in active service. The vessel is fully operational (minus weaponry), and the museum intended to keep Townsville in a sailable condition, with maintenance undertaken by volunteers. In addition to being opened for public display, the Townsville Maritime Museum has also been contacted by cadet groups and emergency response organisations wanting to use the vessel for training. While waiting for approval to construct the dry dock adjacent to the museum site, Townsville was berthed at the Curtain Bros.

In June 2011, The Australian newspaper claimed despite two submarines (Waller and Dechaineux) designated as operational, neither was in sailable condition.
