On leaving the body the line of the edge runs quite straight forward for a short distance, and then curves round to the right, running out on the line of the ribs into a high shouldered prominent wing, between which and the body whorl the broad, deep, and rounded anal sinus lies. However, Kim escapes and the Drazens soon learn that Palmer is still alive. With time running out on his chance to escape before he is recaptured, in desperation, the freed Victor Drazen tells his mole inside CTU, who is revealed to be Nina Myers, to call Bauer and tell him that his daughter is dead and that the U.S. Coast Guard has found her body. Drazen knows that a grieving Jack will attack him, and he believes he, his son Andre Drazen (the other, Alexis, having been seriously injured earlier by an aide to Sen. Palmer and later dying of his wounds during transportation to the Drazen hideout) and their henchmen can kill Jack.

While George is obsessed with the 1971 war between East and West Pakistan and arranging marriages for his children, the children themselves, born and brought up in Britain, increasingly see themselves as British and reject Pakistani dress, food, religion and living. After George disowns Nazir for running out on his arranged marriage, he immediately begins making plans to have another of his children married to maintain his image. On a trip to Bradford, George is introduced to Mr Shah, a fellow Pakistani Muslim who wishes to marry off his two unattractive daughters. George arranges in secret for his second and third sons, Abdul and Tariq, to marry them, despite Ella's misgivings, a conversation that the youngest child, Sajid, overhears.

By the end of 2017, Lieberman stopped all cancer treatment. From this time, he was in and out of home hospice care. After being admitted into home hospice care in early 2018, Lieberman, during his last years of recording had produced his most prolific and sometimes most experimental music of his career, as he was aware time was running out on him. Lieberman had arranged orchestral parts to blend with his punk/thrash style, fusing it to progressive rock (The Gangsta Rabbi's Punk Thrash Thick as a Brick/A Passion Play), opera (recreating a fully orchestrated three-hour version of Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS Pinafore) and his classical punk/thrash fusion The Gangsta Rabbi's Thrash Opus Year 1812 Festival Overture in E♭ Major, lasting 38 minutes.

The stallion scheme resulted in a reduction of genetic diversity in the ponies running out on the New Forest, and to counteract this and preserve the hardiness of Forest-run ponies, the Verderers introduced the Bloodline Diversity Project, which will use hardy Forest-run mares, mostly over eleven years old, bred to stallions that have not been run out on the Forest, or closely related to those that have. Ponies gathered in a pound at a drift Drifts to gather the animals are carried out in autumn. Most colts and some fillies are removed, along with any animals considered too "poor" to remain on the Forest over the winter. The remaining fillies are branded with their owner's mark, and many animals are wormed.

Ben Seyr was not equipped with a wireless and therefore no information was received regarding her position or the weather which she was encountering. By the following Tuesday, 11 October, with still no news of the Ben Seyr, the following radio appeal was made on the BBC National Programme as well as on Raidió Teilifís Éireann. When Wednesday came with still no news of the Ben Seyr hope began to fade. It seemed highly improbable that she could still be sheltering, for her crew had with them food for approximately five days and her coal bunkers would have been running out. On Thursday 13 October the body of Seaman James Bradford was washed ashore on Middleton Sands, near Heysham Harbour on the Lancashire Coast.

The Golden Knights opened the season at the Citrus Bowl, hosting their largest-profile opponent thus far since elevating to Division I-A. Purdue, led by quarterback Drew Brees, soundly defeated UCF 47-13. UCF got out to an early 6-0 lead, but the Boilermakers scored 47 unanswered points, as Brees threw for 273 yards and four touchdowns. As the game got out of hand, two players were later ejected, and twice fans were arrested for running out on the field. The loss snapped UCF's school record of 11 consecutive home game wins, dating back to November 1996. After being routed by #4 Florida, and #10 Georgia Tech, the Golden Knights almost earned their first victory over an SEC team. UCF was defeated 24–23 by #11 Georgia in a game known as the "Burglary Between the Hedges." (see below).
