In 1871, Robertson was living with his wife, daughter Fanny and a granddaughter in St Pancras, Middlesex.The 1871 census records in St. Pancras, Middlesex, show Robertson, aged 72, born in Stamford, Lincs.

Harper was born in Pasadena, California, but grew up in Rancho Santa Fe, California, San Diego County. Her grandfather, Archibald Picking was a highly skilled diamond-cutter called a Diamantaire who was responsible for cutting, polishing and transforming a rough diamond into a finished gemstone ready for setting. The Cullinan is a luxury residential private housing estate in Hong Kong, located in Union Square, Kowloon. The building has glass curtain walls and views of Victoria Harbour. The glass facade matches the design language of the neighbouring International Commerce Centre. This complex was named after the 3,106 carat (621.2 g) Cullinan Diamond found in 1905; the largest gem-quality rough diamond ever found, whose constituent cut diamonds are found in the British Crown Jewels and Elizabeth II's jewels.

In 1976 he joined Little River Band. He wrote their hit single "Lonesome Loser" and co- wrote "Happy Anniversary".BMI.com listing of songs written by Briggs Briggs also produced the rock band, Australian Crawl, and co-wrote their single "Hoochie Gucci Fiorucci Mama" with vocalist James Reyne. Aditya J. Patwardhan is an Indian origin film director, producer and scriptwriter from Jaipur, India. He has representation with the Rough Diamond Productions of Julia Verdin. He is best known for his short film Red House by the Crossroads (2015) for which he won Best Short film Award at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards. and the film was also the part of the 2015 Cannes Short Film Corner (Cannes Court Metrage) Cannes Film Festival 2015.

The character was based on a real-life former head of the Flying Squad, who had been convicted at the Old Bailey on corruption charges in 1977. The lead characters, Regan and Carter, are depicted as hard-drinking, womanising, no-nonsense characters from a working- class background, who resent the fact that middle-class officers get promoted ahead of them. Regan is forthright, blunt, not frightened to speak his mind. He is, in the euphemism of the time, a rough diamond.

The Westmoreland Heritage Trail is also part of the Rough Diamond Trail Project, a circuit of completed and proposed trails between Pittsburgh, Freeport, Saltsburg and Trafford that is being promoted by locally born actor David Conrad He has produced and starred in two videos thus far about this project. The first shows the WHT only briefly, while the second features Conrad riding through a few different sections of the trail, which includes the Turtle Creek gorge before the railroad tracks were removed.

De Beers Group is an international corporation that specialises in diamond mining, diamond exploitation, diamond retail, diamond trading and industrial diamond manufacturing sectors. The company is currently active in open-pit, large-scale alluvial, coastal and deep sea mining. It operates in 35 countries and mining takes place in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Canada and Australia. From its inception in 1888 until the start of the 21st century, De Beers controlled 80% to 85% of rough diamond distribution and is a monopoly.

The original rough diamond was found in 1966 in the Premier Mine in South Africa, weighing . Harry Winston cut it into the shape of pear weighing . At the time of sale in 1969, the diamond was set in a platinum ring with two smaller diamonds on either side. After its purchase by Taylor and Burton, Taylor found the diamond too heavy to wear as a ring, and commissioned an $80,000 diamond necklace which included a custom setting for the diamond.

Koffiefontein mine is one of the world’s top diamond mines by average value per carat and produces exceptional white and coloured diamonds, a regular proportion of which are of between 5 and 30 carats. In 1994, a 232.34 carat diamond was recovered at Koffiefontein, being the largest rough diamond ever produced by the mine. Diamonds were first discovered on the Koffiefontein farm in 1870. Mining started in the form of small claims that were later amalgamated into Koffiefontein Mine Limited.

The whole object is long, weighs around , and is decorated with 333 diamonds, 31 rubies, 15 emeralds, 7 sapphires, 6 spinels and 1 composite amethyst.Rose, p. 41. In 1910 it was redesigned to incorporate Cullinan I, also known as the Great Star of Africa, which, at over , is still the largest clear cut diamond in the world. It was part of a rough diamond weighing found in South Africa in 1905 and was named after the chairman of the mining company, Thomas Cullinan.

The production of rough diamond is expected to increase by an average of nearly 3% per year from 2005 to 2011. In Angola, the Fucauma Diamond Mine, the Kamachia-Kamajiku, the Luarica diamond mine, and the Rio Lapi Garimpo Mines are expected to contribute to higher output. Production could rise in Congo (Kinshasa) because of the possible expansion of MIBA's facilities by 2010. European Diamonds plc started production in Lesotho in 2005; the company planned to reach full capacity in 2006.

The loss of direct access to these earnings may make it more difficult for foreign companies to fund exploration in Zimbabwe. At the end of 2004, the government of Liberia passed legislation providing for controls on the export, import, and transit of rough diamond. In addition, the government suspended the issuance of all permits for diamond mining and placed a moratorium on alluvial diamond prospecting. On December 15, 2005, the Parliament of Ghana passed a new Minerals and Mining Law (law number 703).

Man-powered diamond cutting mill in 18th century The process of maximizing the value of finished diamonds, from a rough diamond into a polished gemstone, is both an art and a science. The choice of cut is influenced by many factors. Market factors include the exponential increase in value of diamonds as weight increases, referred to as weight retention, and the popularity of certain shapes amongst consumers. Physical factors include the original shape of the rough stone, and location of the inclusions and flaws to be eliminated.

Production from Marange is controversial due to ongoing legal wrangles and government crackdowns on illegal miners and allegations of forced labour. In terms of carats produced, the Marange field is the largest diamond producing project in the world, estimated to have produced 16.9 million carats in 2013, or 13% of global rough diamond supply. Marange is estimated to have produced 12.0 million carats in 2012, 8.7 million carats in 2011, and 8.2 million carats in 2010.

In May 2006, he went on trial at Bayern Munich II. Hermann Gerland, the club's manager, was impressed by Ngwat-Mahop's athleticism and assertiveness and recommended his signing. Gerland characterised Ngwat-Mahop as a rough diamond. He made his debut for Bayern Munich II in the opening day of the 2006–07 Regionalliga season. Although he played in Marriott's All Stars, he opted not to join the reformed Humble Pie in 1980 in favor of joining Jack Bruce & Friends instead. In 1977, Clempson formed the short lived band Rough Diamond with former Uriah Heep singer David Byron. In 1994, Clempson re-joined Colosseum reunion version of the band, and he continued performing with the band until their farewell concert at SBE in London on 28 February 2015.

Rear view The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is a full-sized luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) produced by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The Cullinan is the first SUV to be launched by the Rolls-Royce marque, and is also the brand's first all-wheel drive vehicle. It is named after the Cullinan Diamond, the largest gem-quality rough diamond ever discovered. The Cullinan sits above the Ghost and below the Phantom in Rolls-Royce's line-up, with a starting price in the United States of approximately $325,000 (£255,000).

Empress Eugénie in 1853, after her marriage to Napoleon III The source of the Empress Eugénie diamond is not known for certain, but Esmeraldino Reis, in a book about great Brazilian diamonds,Os grandes diamantes brasileiros. Issue 191 of Boletim / Divisāo de Geologia e Mineralogia, 1959. suggests that the rough diamond weighed about 100 carats and was dug in 1760 from a mine in the Minas Gerais province of Brazil. The diamond was quickly shipped to Lisbon, whence it was sent for cutting in the Netherlands.

Next, Byron got together with guitarist Robin George to form The Byron Band, which was signed to Creole Records and debuted with the single "Every Inch of the Way/Routine" (CR 8). This was followed by the single "Never Say Die/ Tired Eyes", before the release of the 1981 album On the Rocks (CRX 2). However, as with his previous band Rough Diamond, neither critical nor commercial acclaim was forthcoming. Box and Trevor Bolder invited Byron to re- join Uriah Heep in 1981, after Ken Hensley had left, but Byron refused.

The first is the shape: square, oval, and so on. The second relates to the specific quality of cut within the shape, and the quality and price will vary greatly based on the cut quality. Since diamonds are one of the hardest materials, special diamond-coated surfaces are used to grind the diamond down. The first major development in diamond cutting came with the "Point Cut" during the later half of the 14th century: the Point Cut follows the natural shape of an octahedral rough diamond crystal, eliminating some waste in the cutting process.

The hill fort was constructed during the first century BC, likely in a rapidly executed project carried out on a massive scale. Around 100 BC, a V-shaped ditch about deep was initially cut to form the outer perimeter of Oldbury Camp and the spoil was heaped up to form a bank. The Diamond Trading Company (DTC) is the rough diamond sales and distribution arm of the De Beers Family of Companies. The DTC sorts, values and sells about 35% of the world’s rough diamonds by value. The DTC has a combination of wholly owned and joint venture operations in South Africa (DTCSA), Botswana (DTCB), Namibia (NDTC) and the United Kingdom (DTC). The DTC sells diamonds that are sourced primarily from De Beers' mining operations in South Africa and Canada, and through its partnerships with the governments of Botswana, Namibia and Tanzania.

The third important factor was that they were cut to a very specific brilliantine scheme to produce the accepted hearts and arrows pattern. This faceting scheme involves prescribed lengths and ratios as well as smaller table sizes that are imperative in producing a distinctive, repeatable and gradable hearts and arrows pattern. Less than 1% of the world's diamonds are cut to hearts and arrows optical symmetry precision. This is in large part due to the greater amount of rough diamond that necessitates additional polishing to create diamonds with this precise optical symmetry.

Uncle Sam is the nickname for the largest diamond ever discovered in the United States. It was found in 1924 in Murfreesboro, Arkansas at the Prairie Creek pipe mine, which later became known as the Crater of Diamonds State Park. The diamond was named "Uncle Sam" after the nickname of its finder, Wesley Oley Basham, a worker at the Arkansas Diamond Corporation. The rough diamond as originally discovered weighed 40.23 carats (8.046 g). It was faceted twice by Schenck & Van Haelen of New York, which specialized in Arkansas diamonds, handling over 14,000.

Kenney returned to America in October 2005, and on December 8 started an angle with Chicago White Sox catcher A. J. Pierzynski. At Turning Point the Diamonds in the Rough (Diamond, Young and Skipper) were defeated in a six-man tag team match by Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt and Dale Torborg, who had Pierzynski in their corner. Israel's net polished diamond exports slid 22.8 percent in 2012 as polished diamond exports fell to $5.56 billion from $7.2 billion in 2011. Net exports of rough diamonds dropped 20.1 percent to $2.8 billion and net exports of polished diamonds slipped 24.9 percent to $4.3 billion, while net rough diamond imports dropped 12.9 percent to $3.8 billion. Net exports and imports have dropped due to the ongoing Global financial crisis, particularly within the Eurozone and the United States.

The polishing skills of S. Muller & Sons and the marketing knowledge of Mostovicz were the main reasons for selecting S. Muller & Sons as the only 10 customers of the DTC (De Beers) to distribute the De Beers Millennium diamond limited edition. Working under the supervision of Prof. Leslie de Chernatony, a brand expert, allowed S. Muller & Sons to turn this opportunity into a success where others failed. The interest of Mostovicz in the interaction between the diamond consumer and the retailer is unusual in the diamond industry, where the focus is generally on rough diamond market.

Ganga Bruta (literally translated as "Brutal Gang"; also known as Rough Diamond) is a 1933 Brazilian drama film directed by Humberto Mauro. Starring Durval Bellini and Déa Selva, it follows a man who, after killing his wife on their wedding night, moves to a city where he becomes part of a love triangle. It was produced between 1931 and 1932 for Adhemar Gonzaga at his studio Cinédia. On its initial release, the film was highly criticized and its poor viewing figures resulted in financial losses for the distribution company, but later critics and film directors expressed praise for it.

And in 2016, John joined forces with Village Roadshow to form ROADSHOW ROUGH DIAMOND, along with his son, former ITV Studios and Endemol executive, Dan Edwards. In 2017, Edwards produced Romper Stomper (2017) the TV Series (with Dan Edwards) for Stan, which won the Silver Logie for Most Outstanding Miniseries and the AACTA Award for Best Sound in Television. Edwards was granted an honorary master's degree from the Australian Film Television and Radio School in December 2011, gave the 2015 Hector Crawford Address at the Annual SPAA Conference, and was appointed a member of the Order of Australia in January 2017.

Through an advertising campaign beginning in the 1930s and continuing into the mid-20th century, De Beers made diamonds into a key part of the betrothal process and a coveted symbol of status. The diamond's high value has been the driving force behind dictators and revolutionary entities, especially in Africa, using slave and child labor to mine blood diamonds to fund conflicts. Though popularly believed to derive its value from its rarity, gem-quality diamonds are quite common compared to rare gemstones such as alexandrite, and annual global rough diamond production is estimated to be about .

Rough Diamond is a television series co-produced by BBC Northern Ireland and RTÉ. The series also appears on RTÉ One in the Republic of Ireland The story explores the relationship between discredited racehorse trainer Aidan Doherty and Jonah Price, the son he never knew existed. The first episode begins with Doherty about to sell his run down stables to his neighbour and former employer Charlie Carrick, wealthy owner of the neighbouring Firebrand stables, and move to New South Wales. However, his best laid plans change when a young man appears, later revealed to be his son, Price.

The Williamson pink diamond is a flawless pink diamond discovered at the Williamson diamond mine in Tanzania in 1947. The owner of the mine, Canadian geologist John Williamson, gave the uncut stone to Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip upon their wedding in November 1947. The rough diamond was cut by London diamond cutters Briefel and Lemer in 1948, and Cartier was commissioned to create a setting for the main round brilliant cut diamond.

Polishing a diamond A diamantaire (French origin) is a gem-quality diamond manufacturer or producer, master diamond cutter, and graduate gemologist specialized in diamonds. Such individuals demonstrate considerable expertise in different types of gemstones, particularly when it comes to increasing the value and quality of a rough or raw diamond. They are highly skilled craftsmen or artisans who are responsible for cutting, polishing and transforming a rough diamond into a finished gemstone ready for setting. Members of diamond dealing families who have established themselves in the upper echelons of the world diamond industry hierarchy are also often referred to as diamantaires as well.

Costa signed for his first European club in February 2006, Portugal's Braga. He initially struggled with loneliness and the comparatively cold weather of northern Portugal. Siksou appeared on the 6th season of the French reality singing competition show Nouvelle Star in 2008. His time on the show began at the Paris casting on 27 February 2008, where Philippe Manœuvre called him a "rough diamond" (French: diamant brut) after he performed a cover of "Just the Two of Us" by Bill Withers and was unanimously supported. His jazzy style stood out on the show. However, a jury strongly believing in him along with a public voting greatly in his favor helped to elect him each week by a large majority for his 19 performances.

She was a member of Rosina Vokes’s company that opened at Daly’s Theatre on April 13, 1891, in productions of A Game of Cards, Wig and Gown, and The Rough Diamond.

Premier Mine, South Africa, before 1903 Headframe and plant, 2006 The Premier Mine is an underground diamond mine owned by Petra Diamonds in the town of Cullinan, east of Pretoria, Gauteng Province, South Africa. Established in 1902, it was renamed the Cullinan Diamond Mine in November 2003 in celebration of its centenary. The mine rose to prominence in 1905, when the Cullinan Diamond – the largest rough diamond of gem quality ever found – was discovered there. The mine has produced over 750 stones that are greater than and more than a quarter of all the world's diamonds that are greater than .

Now Alrosa independently distributes its rough diamond production on the world market. Through 1980, rapid development of primary deposits continued in Aikhal township on the basis of the Jubilee pipe and in Udachny town. Today the Udachny open-pit mine is one of the largest open-pit mines in the world. Alrosa closed joint-stock company was set up according to Presidential Decree №158C of the President of Russia "On the Establishment of the Almazy Rossii- Sakha Joint Stock Company" signed on 19 February 1992, based on NPO Yakutalmaz, a former USSR state-owned diamond mining company.

The Excelsior Diamond is a gem-quality diamond, and was the largest known diamond in the world from the time of its discovery in 1893 until 1905, when the larger Cullinan Diamond was found. It was found on June 30, 1893 at the Jagersfontein Mine in South Africa, south east of Kimberley whose fame as a diamond mining center always overshadowed that of Jagersfontein. It had a blue-white tint and weighed 971 old carats or 995.2 metric carats (or 194 g). The Excelsior rates as the fourth largest rough diamond of gem quality ever found.

Leko joined West Bromwich Albion at the age of 11. According to the club's academy manager, Mark Harrison, he was "a bit of a rough diamond", but by the under-14s he had developed an understanding of the game and was showing considerable creative ability. Rough diamond prices have historically been impacted by the mining companies controlling supply, most notably De Beers. Zimbabwe is a participant in the Kimberley Process (KP), that regulates trade in diamonds, although by June 2007 the KP annual plenary stated that it noted with concern the continuing challenges to KP implementation in Zimbabwe and recommended further monitoring of developments and concerted actions in that respect. The World Diamond Council has called for a clampdown on smuggling of diamonds from Zimbabwe. Salway was born at Nursling, just outside Southampton and played as an amateur for Romsey Town and Nursling United while working as a gardener. If these fractures are visible and damaging to the beauty of the diamond, it will have much lower demand and won't be as salable to jewelers and the general public, making them candidates for fracture filling and thus visually improve the appearance of the diamond. The fracture filling of diamond is often the last step in the process of diamond enhancement, following laser drilling and acid-etching of inclusions, though if the fractures are surface- reaching, no drilling may be required. The process involves the use of specially-formulated fillers with a refractive index approximating that of diamond.

Klady said that the length and tone, while tempered by humor and unexpected events, would dampen the film's mainstream appeal, but the story offered a fascinating portrait of the innate humanity of the inmates. His father was the Rev Edward John Sewell Lamburn, and apparently intended his son to follow in his own footsteps and go into the Anglican Church, but instead, in 1913 at the age of twenty, young Lamburn joined the Rhodesian Mounted Police of the British South Africa Police or BSAP, as a trooper. Presumably this was to the considerable consternation of his parents, and his age at the time suggests that he did not complete a degree course at Manchester. Determining that the situation in Côte d'Ivoire continued to pose a threat to international peace and security in the region, the Security Council today renewed until 31 October 2008 the arms and rough diamond bans it had imposed on the country, as well as targeted measures, such as travel restrictions and the freezing of funds, against certain individuals.
