Following the Japanese surrender in 1945, original partner Eric Watson restarted "Waters & Watson" in early 1946, roping in young quantity surveyor Seah Mong Hee - joining "Waters & Watson" in 1936 - who helped maintained the office in the months prior to the Japanese invasion. The practice soon flourish and branch offices were soon established in Kuala Lumpur (1947) and Hong Kong (1949) encouraged by extensive post-war reconstruction work in the region.

Monty Roberts was born in Salinas, California and is the son of horse trainer Marvin E Roberts, who authored his own self-published book called "Horse and Horseman Training" in 1957. Roberts claims that his father also beat him as a child, although other family members, including his younger brother Larry, dispute this version of events, with his aunt and cousin, Joyce Renebome and Debra Ristau, specifically refuting the allegation in the book Horse Whispers & Lies. Billboard Irving Thalberg had worked on the film since 1930 when he assigned three different writers to come up with three different treatments. By 1931 Thalberg had decided on the one storyline and spent the next four years working on a script with two dozen writers, half a dozen directors and three supervisors. Gable had several temper tantrums on the set, which were tolerated by MGM studio chief Louis B. Mayer because the star had recently won an Academy Award for Best Actor in It Happened One Night (1934) on a loan-out to Columbia Pictures, and he did not want to risk losing him. Mayer even tolerated that Gable risked his life by refusing a stunt double in a sequence in which he assisted numerous Chinese extras in roping in a runaway steamroller that crashed up and down the decks of the cantilevered studio ship.

Events of the movie unfold as he lends his armor to a childhood friend, Banbi, to temporarily resurrect her old fallen Makai Knight lover, Judo Tenma, only to have her running away with his armor and searching for more Makai Knight armors after finding out that one set is inadequate to perform the deed. Inadvertently roping in Takeru and Ryuga as their armors got taken from them forcibly by Banbi as well, he ultimately helps to stop the full on activation of the Fang of God, thus prevent the summoning of Messiah, the progenitor of Horrors, into the world.

Shortly after the release of Kalavani, which emerged a sleeper hit, Sarkunam had informed that he had "a couple of scripts in mind" and was discussing with his team on which they should work next, while stating that it "most probably" will not be set in a village again. He started working on his next project in late 2010, which he had titled as Vaagai Sooda Vaa, roping in Vimal, who played the lead role in Kalavani, for the lead character again. The film was revealed to be a period piece, set in 1966, with Sarkunam describing it as a "romance drama sprinkled with humour", while also stating it would convey a "much-needed" message. Vaagai Sooda Vaa was Sarkunam's first script and his "dream project", which he had wanted to make his directorial debut with, but he had to drop the idea, since no producer was willing to produce a period film with a newcomer in the lead role.
