Fan Chan (Thai: แฟนฉัน, English: My Girl) is a 2003 Thai coming-of-age romantic film offering a nostalgic look back at the childhood friendship of a boy and girl growing up in a small town in Thailand in the 1980s. It was the debut film by six young screenwriter-directors, Vitcha Gojiew, Songyos Sugmakanan, Nithiwat Tharathorn, Witthaya Thongyooyong, Anusorn Trisirikasem and Komgrit Triwimol. The film, which was his first home production under Photon Kathaas and did not have a background score, told the story of a victim of child abuse and the havoc he causes to women, narrating the events of a particular day. The film opened to mixed reviews with one critic citing it as "above average" but warning that "don’t go expecting a typical Gautham romantic film" and that it "is definitely not for the family audiences", while criticizing that "there are too many loopholes in the story, raising doubts about logic".

The first sound version of the story starring former Jazz Age comedian Colleen Moore as the ill-fated Puritan adulteress Hester Prynne, the film retained many of the silent film era players and studio sets from director Victor Seastrom’s 1926 silent adaptation starring Lillian Gish. Henry B. Walthall played Roger Chillingworth in both these film versions.Malcolm, 2004: “...a superabundance of silent film personalities” were employed in the sound remake... [and] many sets in this lower-budget production seem to be borrowed from the Seastrom film...” Under the influence of the recently re- imposed Production Code, director Vignola emphasized the guilt-ridden ordeal of the novel’s protagonists, which resonated with Hollywood censor’s preference for a depiction of “the moral failure of the central figures” as a cautionary tale, distinguish it from the Seastrom’s decidedly romantic film adaption.Malcolm, 2004: “...this adaption, perhaps in response to the recently re-constituted Production Code, underscores the moral failure of the central sinners…[and] serves to highlight the realism of the film’s dialogue.” It was shot in Sherman Oaks, California.

In 1934, Dyall appeared with his father, actor Franklin Dyall, at the Manchester Hippodrome in Sir Oswald Stoll's presentation of Shakespeare's Henry V, playing the roles of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Captain Gower, and a cardinal of France. He also appeared in one movie with his father, the 1943 spy thriller Yellow Canary; Dyall's part was that of a German U-boat commander attempting to kidnap a British agent from a ship in the Atlantic, while his father played the ship's captain. In the same year he had a small role as a German officer in The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp and, the following year, played the Duke of Burgundy in Laurence Olivier's film version of Henry V. In 1946, he appeared, uncredited, as the character Stephen Lynn in the romantic film drama Brief Encounter; Lynn is protagonist Alec Harvey's friend whose unexpected arrival spoils Alec's opportunity of consummating his romance. During the 1950s Dyall made a number of guest appearances in episodes of the BBC Home Service radio comedy series The Goon Show, parodying his familiar radio persona.

Matondkar in 2012 Matondkar has been described by critics as one of the most talented actresses in Bollywood. In 2016, film critic Subhash K. Jha analysing Matondkar's work, wrote:" Her days of glory while they lasted created a body of work that was as curvaceous as her body: Rangeela (Ram Gopal Varma's only romantic film), Satya (where in spite of Manoj Bajpai, she held her own, especially in a key breakdown sequence and in that lilting Lata Mangeshkar melody 'Gila Gila Paani' which was cut out of the film), Kaun (where her horror act was chilling), Pinjar (a masterly adaptation of Amrita Pritam's novel about a rape victim during the Partition), Ek Haseena Thi (where she played hero to Saif Ali Khan's villain), Pyar Tune Kya Kiya (she was heartbreakingly poignant as a victim of unrequited love), Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara (spirited as a daughter trying to cope with a father suffering from Alzeihmer's), Khubsoorat (she played the Plain Jane who transforms into ..ummm.. Urmila Matondkar)...and so many others. Film critic Sukanya Verma has described Matondkar as "a thinking actress who performs spontaneously." She further added,"..It is her charismatic image that stays with the audience.

Starting her career as a beauty pageant contestant, Namitha was crowned Miss Surat during the year of 1998 at the age of 17. She went on to participate in the 2001 Miss India pageant and ended up as the third runner-up, while Celina Jaitley was crowned Miss India. The publicity she garnered during the competition prompted her to move to Mumbai and subsequently she did a number of TV commercials such as Himani cream and hand soap, Arun Ice Creams, Manikchand Gutka, and Nile Herbal Shampoo early in her career. Unable to make a breakthrough into the Hindi film industry, she enrolled in an English Literature course and then considered returning to Surat but chose to later accept an invitation to audition for a Telugu film. After being selected, she consequently made her acting debut in Sreenu Vaitla's coming-of-age romantic film, Sontham (2002), where she played the love interest of two characters in a love triangle. Her next film, Saran's big budget action film Gemeni (2002) opposite Venkatesh, garnered her further attention and her portrayal of a Marwardi girl won critical acclaim.
