The Road to Ruin is a sound re-make of a 1928 silent film of the same name, written and produced by Willis Kent and also starring Helen Foster.TCM Notes Foster, reprising her role as a high school girl, was 27 years old at the time, and six years older than her on-screen boyfriend, Glen Boles. The titles and composers of the three songs performed in the film are not recorded. To promote the film, the producers advertised that it was not to be shown to anyone under eighteen, implying that it contained salacious material.

Initially, the album received mixed reviews from critics. Roy Trakin of the New York Rocker called the album "uneven" and "sometimes lazy", and preferred Tommy's drumming style over Marky's, writing: "his light, distinctive, jazz-influenced drumming is sorely missed on Road to Ruin as Marky is of the heads-down basher school." Rolling Stone critic Charles Young noted that the album is not as humorous or influential as their debut, but that the band is not at all "losing its grip." He observes that the band modified their style because "dumb" people did not understand the music, while "smart" people did.

Crosby was announced as safe. He broke out the electric guitar and drove the crowd crazy with his rendition of "Long Road To Ruin" by the Foo Fighters. He received a score of 38.5 out of 40, getting the highest score of the season thus far, and the overall season's second highest. (individually 10, 9.5, 10, and 9) He got a perfect 10 from judge Belinda Carlisle because she felt his passion she knew he had and the lowest score of 9 from judge Larry Rudolph for lack of being able to reach out to the audience.

Holman depicted in Thomas Holcroft's The Road to Ruin Holman appeared a few times at the Haymarket Theatre, (located at 18 Suffolk St, London SW1Y 4HT, UK) where he produced his What a Blunder, a comic opera in three acts, in which he was Count Alphonso d'Esparza. Holman went to Dublin, where he took for a time a share with Frederick Edward Jones in the management. He then took to farming. On 31 July 1806 Holman played in Dublin for his benefit Antony in All for Love, by John Dryden, to the Ventidius of Thomas Potter Cooke.

The song charted before its release on the U.S. Modern Rock Tracks chart. It debuted on the U.S. Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart at number 18, which is equivalent to number 118. Two weeks later, it debuted on the Hot 100 at number 89, and finally peaked at number 15, becoming the band's second top twenty hit on the chart from Minutes to Midnight. It also reached number two on the Modern Rock chart (held off the top spot by Foo Fighters hit "Long Road to Ruin"), and number six on the Mainstream Rock chart.

Tommy Ramone was replaced on drums in 1978 by Marky Ramone, but handled band management and co-production for their fourth album, Road to Ruin; he later returned as producer for their eighth album, 1984's Too Tough to Die. Tommy Ramone wrote "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" and the majority of "Blitzkrieg Bop" while bassist Dee Dee suggested the title. He and Ed Stasium played all the guitar solos on the albums he produced, as Johnny Ramone largely preferred playing rhythm guitar. In the 1980s he produced the Replacements album Tim, as well as Redd Kross's Neurotica.

Dan Backslide's character design was a caricature of Jones' animator Ken Harris. McLeish also narrated the cartoon The Rocky Road to Ruin of Color Rhapsody from Columbia Pictures and Screen Gems, adding to the similarity between it and The Dover Boys on top of similar character design and what was then called the "modern" visual style of cartoons, which evolved into the UPA style. On top of having one of the largest casts of voice talent in one WB cartoon, it also clocked in at nearly nine minutes, a full two minutes longer than the average Warner Brothers cartoon (about 6:50).

Secrets of a Windmill Girl is a 1966 British exploitation film directed by Arnold L Miller. It was originally released in Britain as part of a double bill with Naked as Nature Intended.

Here or at Bristol he played in his first season Macbeth, Clifford in The Heiress, Evander in The Grecian Daughter by Arthur Murphy, Shylock, lago, Iachimo, Pierre, Lord Davenant, Mr. Oakly, several French characters, and other parts, appearing for his benefit as Gibbet in The Beaux Stratagem, with his wife as Cherry. Genest related that they did not sell a single ticket. Here he remained until 1796, playing a great variety of parts.They included King John, Osmyn in The Mourning Bride, Adam in As you like it, Sir Peter Teazle in The School for Scandal, Old Dornton in The Road to Ruin by Thomas Holcroft.

Her first regular engagement was from Tate Wilkinson, as a member of whose company she appeared in York near the end of last century, playing as her first role, Sophia in Holcroft's Road to Ruin, and Gillim in Dibdin's The Quaker. As she became more popular, she acted in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Liverpool. At Margate in 1804, she was engaged by Wroughton for Drury Lane, where she appeared 8 October 1804 as Miss Duncan from Edinburgh, playing Lady Teazle to the Sir Peter of Mathews, and the Charles Surface of Elliston. Rosalind in As You Like It followed on the 18th, and Lady Townly on the 27th.

This lineup recorded the BBC Radio session and additional tracks that were released as the "Action Box" double single. Shortly thereafter Wolf left the band and Marcellus Hall of Railroad Jerk joined on guitar for another European tour, and to record the track "Fire Of Love" for a Sub Pop single compilation called Smells Like Smoked Sausages."Control Hogs on The Road To Ruin" Alternative Press (1991) Soon after, drummer Charlie Ondras died. Boss Hog took a break for over two years, whilst Spencer concentrated on The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, prior to re- emerging in 1993 with a lean, stable line-up of Spencer, Martinez, Jurgensen and new drummer Hollis Queens.

The lineup of Portman, Pittman, and Reader remained stable and released an album each year over a four-year period: Love is Dead (1996), Revenge is Sweet, and So Are You (1997), a cover version of the Ramones' Road to Ruin (1998), and Alcatraz (1999). Lookout! also released an expanded version of Big Black Bugs Bleed Blue Blood in 1997 with 24 additional tracks culled from the band's EPs, singles, and various compilation albums. Reader then left the band and Portman released a solo album. With new bassist Gabe Meline The Mr. T Experience released the EP The Miracle of Shame in 2000, which also included temporary Hammond organ player Erik Noyes.

In 2008, Hester was given credit for mixing and as an engineer on the Foo Fighters single "The Pretender", the first off of their album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. The first number- one single of the year was "Long Road to Ruin" by American alternative rock band Foo Fighters, which spent the last three weeks of 2007 and the first of 2008 atop the chart. The final number-one single of the year was "All Summer Long" by American country rock musician Kid Rock. The most successful song on the UK Rock & Metal Singles Chart in 2008 was "Rockstar" by Canadian band Nickelback, which spent 23 weeks at number one during the year, including a single run of 20 consecutive weeks. The band spent a total of 29 weeks atop the chart in 2008, with "Photograph" and "Gotta Be Somebody" each spending three weeks at number one.

' His chief service to the Haymarket was rendered in so-called classical comedy, in which he to some extent replaced Farren. His parts in this included, in addition to those named—Sir Francis Gripe in the 'Busybody,' Sullen in the 'Beaux' Stratagem,' Malvolio, Adam, Sir Harcourt Courtly, Hardcastle, Old Mirabel in the 'Inconstant,' Lord Duberly in The Heir at Law, Lord Priory in 'Wives as they were and Maids as they are,' Old Dornton in 'Road to Ruin,' and Sir Walter Fondlove in the 'Love Chase.' Biography on the Ted Rail website Rall's cartoons have appeared regularly in Rolling Stone, Time, Fortune and Men's Health magazines, as well as Mad magazine (for which he also wrote) and were for several years the most reproduced cartoons in The New York Times. Rall began frequent travels to Central Asia in 1997, when he attempted to drive the Silk Road from Beijing to Istanbul via China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan as a staff writer for P.O.V. magazine. P.O.V. published his adventures as Silk Road to Ruin, a title he used for his 2006 collection of essays and cartoons about Central Asia. Rall returned to the region for POV in 1999 to travel the Karakoram Highway from Kashgar, in western China, to Islamabad.

The Chavs are an English rock supergroup formed in 2004, by former Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things guitarist Carl Barât. Alongside Barât in the band are Tim Burgess of The Charlatans, Primal Scream keyboardist Martin Duffy and drummer Andy Burrows from Razorlight. They made their live debut at Chatham's Tap'n'Tin, in December 2004, where the set included the Libertines songs "Death On the Stairs", "France" and "Road To Ruin", the Charlatans' "A Man Needs To Be Told" and "North Country Boy", Burgess' solo song "I Believe In The Spirit" and festive songs including a cover of "Fairytale of New York" by The Pogues. The Tap'n'Tin is the same venue the Libertines played on the night after Pete Doherty was released from prison for burgling Barât's flat in 2003.

Subsequent trips included two trips in 2000, "Stan Trek 2000"—in which Rall brought along 23 listeners to his radio show for a bus journey from Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan via Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan—and a U.S. State Department-sponsored visit to Turkmenistan, where he met with Turkmen college students and dissidents to explain the nature of free press in a democracy. A 2002 assignment for Gear magazine to cover the world championships of buzkashi in Tajikistan was not published due to the magazine's going out of business, but turned up in an edited form in Silk Road to Ruin. He returned to Tajikistan, Xinjiang Province in western China and Pakistan during the summer of 2007. The Attitude: The New Subversive Cartoonists series of books is a series of anthologies of alternative comics edited by Rall.

From 1874 to 1883 he was professor at the Royal Prussian Academy, Berlin, continuing to reside in that city until his death. Girl in a Field (1857) Among the most important works of his last period were: The Holy Family and The Road to Ruin, both painted in 1876 and now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Behind the Curtain (1880), Dresden Gallery; The Rag Baby (1880) and A Village Festival (1881), both in the Vanderbilt collection, Metropolitan Museum, New York; and A Duel. During his last period Knaus also painted a series of “Idyls,” with nudes in a rather classical style, of which an important example is in the Wiesbaden Museum. The most famous examples of his portraits, which are genre in character, are those of the scientist Helmholtz and the historian Mommsen, both in the National Gallery, Berlin.

All the Stuff (And More) Volume 2 is a compilation album by the Ramones. It includes their third and fourth albums, Rocket to Russia and Road to Ruin, excluding the song "Go Mental," plus bonus tracks. Some versions of the album do include "Go Mental" in its rightful place as track 24, after "I Wanna Be Sedated" and before "Questioningly," for a total of 30 tracks. As with its companion volume All the Stuff (And More!) Volume 1, the disc includes a number of bonus tracks of varying origins: "Slug" and "Yea Yea" were early demos; "I Want You Around" is a demo version of a song included in the film Rock 'n' Roll High School; and "I Don't Want to Live This Life (Anymore)" was first issued as the b-side of the UK single "Crummy Stuff" in 1986.

J.P. Trostle is a graphic designer and cartoonist, whose work often appears under the pen name of "Jape". He is the author of Attack of the Political Cartoonists: Insights And Assaults From Today's Editorial Pages, and is the current editor of the Notebook, the quarterly magazine of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists (AAEC), and editorialcartoonists.com. He was an award-winning illustrator for The Herald-Sun in Durham, North Carolina, and his cartoons are part of the permanent collection at Ohio State University and the State Museum of Pennsylvania. He has also worked closely with Ted Rall on a half-dozen books, including designing the three-volume Attitude: The New Subversive Cartoonists series as well as editing Generalissimo El Busho: Essays and Cartoons on the Bush Years and Silk Road to Ruin: Is Central Asia the New Middle East.

The completed painting was exhibited at the Royal Academy summer exhibition at Burlington House in 1871, with the subtitle "Le jeu est fait - Rien ne va plus" (French: "The stakes are set – No more bets"). It received mixed reviews - some critics preferred the repulsive realism of Doré, but Frith's work became so popular with the viewing public that a barrier was erected to keep back the crowd – an accolade rarely accorded: the previous two instances were Frith's The Derby Day in 1858, and David Wilkie's Chelsea Pensioners reading the Waterloo Dispatch in 1822. It was also exhibited at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1878. Frith then embarked on a Hogarthian series of paintings on moral subjects, The Road to Ruin, which follows the descending path of a wealthy young gentleman who becomes embroiled in gambling and loses his fortune.

MGM screenwriter Donald Ogden Stewart said that "[Joy and Wingate] wouldn't want to take out too much, so you would give them five things to take out to satisfy the Hays Office—and you would get away with murder with what they left in."Vieira. p.130 In 1932 Warner Brothers' policy was that "two out of five stories should be hot", and that nearly all films could benefit by "adding something having to do with ginger."Doherty. p.104 Films such as Laughing Sinners, Safe in Hell, The Devil Is Driving, Free Love, Merrily We Go to Hell, Laughter in Hell and The Road to Ruin were provocative in their mere titles. Studios marketed their films, sometimes dishonestly, by coming up with suggestive tag lines and lurid titles, even going so far as to come up with in house contests for thinking up provocative titles for screenplays.Doherty. pp.

In the 1990s, with her children now grown, she was invited to join Loudon Wainwright III on his European tour. In 1998 she resumed her recording career with the release of the album No Frills. In 2004 Martyn's song "Primrose Hill", about the simple joys of domesticity, which she wrote and sang on Road To Ruin, was sampled by Fat Boy Slim for the track "North West Three" on his 2004 album Palookaville. On 3 December 2013 she performed the song "Levee Breaks" with her band at the concert A Celebration Of Bert Jansch at London's Royal Festival Hall, alongside Robert Plant, Donovan and various members of Pentangle, amongst others.The Observer; published 8 December 2013, retrieved 28-04-14 The concert was broadcast by BBC4 in the UK on 28 March 2014 under the name The Genius of Bert Jansch: Folk Blues and Beyond.

Between 1993 and 2000, a series of Ramones covers albums were released by Selfless Records (later Clearview Records), an independent record label based in Garland, Texas specializing in punk rock, on which bands influenced by seminal punk group the Ramones performed cover versions of entire Ramones albums. Under the Selfless label, Screeching Weasel, the Queers, and the Vindictives respectively covered the first three Ramones albums: Ramones (1976), Rocket to Russia (1977), and Leave Home (1977). Selfless then became Clearview Records and continued the series, with Boris the Sprinkler, the Parasites, the Mr. T Experience, the Beatnik Termites, and the McRackins respectively covering End of the Century (1980), It's Alive (1979), Road to Ruin (1978), Pleasant Dreams (1981), and Too Tough to Die (1984). Each entry in the series was issued as a limited edition LP record, with 1,400 copies pressed in the standard black, 300 on colored discs, and an additional 300 with an alternate screen printed cover intended for the band to sell on tour.

This version of It's Alive had included a transcribed lyric sheet with numerous inaccuracies, including misheard transcriptions of Joey Ramone's between-song comments. The Parasites included this lyric sheet in their version of the album, and sang all of the lyrics according to how they were printed on the sheet, including all of the inaccuracies. The liner notes were written by Boris the Sprinkler singer Rev. Nørb in April 1997; In them, he claimed that Boris the Sprinkler had originally been slated to cover 1978's Road to Ruin, which was the next Ramones studio album after Leave Home and Rocket to Russia, but while he felt that "half that album is totally great, and cannot be improved upon by mere mortals, the other half is utter dreck that I wouldn't sing if you put a goddamned bazooka to my head", and so had asked Greene if they could cover It's Alive instead, reasoning that it technically followed Rocket to Russia in the Ramones' discography.

The first number-one single of the year was "Different World", the second single from heavy metal band Iron Maiden's 14th studio album A Matter of Life and Death, which spent the first two weeks of the year atop the chart. The final number-one single of the year was "Long Road to Ruin", the second single from American alternative rock band Foo Fighters' sixth studio album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, which spent the last three weeks of 2007 and the first of 2008 at number one. The most successful song on the UK Rock & Metal Singles Chart in 2007 was "Famous Last Words" by My Chemical Romance, which spent six consecutive weeks at number one early in the year. "Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour" by Enter Shikari spent five weeks at number one, while Linkin Park spent a total of five weeks at number one across two releases - "What I've Done" (three weeks) and "Bleed It Out" (two weeks).

His parts were mainly confined to Shakespearean clowns and other characters principally belonging to low comedy. Some few might perhaps be put in another category. The Shakespearean parts assigned him included Clown in 'Measure for Measure,' Polonius, Peter in 'Romeo and Juliet,' Dogberry, Trinculo, Sir Andrew Aguecheek, and Shallow in the 'Merry Wives of Windsor.' Other roles of interest were Don Pedro in the 'Wonder,' Don Jerome in the 'Duenna,' Crabtree, Antonio in 'Follies of a Day,' Silky in the 'The Road to Ruin,' Don Manuel in She Would and She Would Not and Sir Robert Bramble in the 'Poor Gentleman.' Out of many original parts taken between 1794 and 1805 the following deserve record: Robin Gray in Arnold's ‘Auld Robin Gray,’ Haymarket, 29 July 1794; Weazel in Cumberland's ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ Drury Lane, 28 February 1795; Fustian in the younger Colman's ‘New Hay at the Old Market,’ Haymarket, 9 June 1795. In the famous production at Drury Lane of Colman's ‘Iron Chest,’ 12 March 1796, Suett was Samson. In the ‘Will’ by Reynolds, 19 April 1797, he was Realize. His great original part of Daniel Dowlas, alias Lord Duberly, in The Heir at Law, was played at the Haymarket on 15 July 1797.

After two seasons in Philadelphia Twaits moved to New York where he appeared at the Park Theatre in June 1805 as Caleb Quotem in The Wags of Windsor opposite the British-born actress Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Westray Villiers (1783-1813) as Leonora. The widow of Thomas C. Villlers, a low comedian and theatre manager for Alexander Placide at the Charleston Theatre,Richard Phillip Sodders, 'The Theatre Management of Alexandre Placide in Charleston, 1794-1812. (Volumes I and II) (South Carolina)', Louisiana State University Historical Dissertations and Theses (1983) pg. 254 and the sister-in-law of William B. Wood, in May 1808 she and Twaits were to marry. Twaits remained at the Park Theatre throughout 1805 in such roles as Megrim in Blue Devils; Dominique in Paul and Virginia; Stave in The Shipwreck; Shelty in The Highland Reel; Goldfinch in The Road to Ruin; Trudge in Inkle and Yarico; Ruttekin in Robin Hood and Dick Dsshall in The Way to Get Married. The remainder of the winter 1805-06 season was spent acting in Boston with Twaits returning to the Vauxhall Theatre in New York in the summer of 1806. Here he played Sparkish in the first American production of The Country Girl in 1806 in New York.
