The earliest proposals for exploitation of hydropower on the Potomac were made in the 1880s. By the 1920s the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reviewed the possibilities for hydroelectric power. After a new study mandated by Congress in 1936-37, the Corps of Engineers in 1938 proposed a dam for flood control, power generation and water quality improvement, to be located above Great Falls at Riverbend. The scheme was revived following World War II. Opposition to the flooding of the entire river to Cumberland by a chain of dams, and to the inundation of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal doomed the Riverbend proposal.

The final proposal for a lower Potomac dam was Seneca Dam. The concept developed in the 1950s and was proposed by the Corps of Engineers in its final form in the 1963 Potomac River Basin Report. Answering objections to the visual intrusion of the Riverbend Dam at Great Falls, Seneca Dam was placed at Blockhouse Point, about downstream from the mouth of Seneca Creek, about upstream from the Riverbend site and just downstream from the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal's Dam Number 2. No immediate hydroelectric development was planned, the dam was meant to provide a water source, to control floods, and to provide recreation.

It is part of the PJM Interconnection of the Eastern Interconnection grid electric transmission system.

It was initially located inside the Holy Trinity Church in Old Strathcona before moving to its present location in Riverbend in 1972 with 10 grades. Werribee River, near Riverbend Historic Park The name "Werribee" originated from the Victorian Aboriginal name for the Werribee River, Wirribi-yaluk in Wathawurrung and Boonwurrung, wirribi meaning "backbone" or "spine". Early leasing of pastures was led by members of John Batman's Port Phillip Association. A rural township began in the early 1850s. This village was named Wyndham (the name of the local Municipality today).

The old mill site and most of its land are now a part of Riverbend Cellars and much of the land is covered in grape vineyards. Much of the town was destroyed in the Christmas flood of 1964. Because of its shallow elevation and proximity to the Eel River, the town still has problems with flooding. The town lies below the 100-year flood line.

Nearby Schmiddt's Wood is one of the last original hardwood forests in urban North Jersey. As part of the New Jersey Meadowlands District, the areas along the river are characterized by wetlands preservation and restoration areas. The original campus was located in the Atrium at Riverbend. In 1984, The pair met a school inspector, Wayne Moss while he was observing the school. Impressed, the pair hired him as the new Head of School. Moss then secured a new campus in the vacant Le Roi Daniels School at a lower rate due to his connections with the Calgary Board of Education.

On December 6, 2010, Russell was named conductor of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, effective September 1, 2011, succeeding the late Erich Kunzel. The all-volunteer May Festival Chorus has been under the direction of Robert Porco since 1989. The chorus rehearses on Tuesday evenings during the academic year from 7-10pm. The chorus performs regularly with the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestras, singing at Music Hall (Cincinnati) as well as Riverbend Music Center. The May Festival Chorus has garnered critical acclaim for its high level of performance.

The Lois M. DeBerry Special Needs Facility is a maximum-security prison in Nashville, Tennessee, operated by the Tennessee Department of Correction. Opened in 1992, the facility houses prisoners with multiple and complex medical problems. The facility has a 250 bed-per-month turnover. The Cumberland River flows along the facility's west boundary, and the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution is located immediately south of the facility.

In addition, several manufactured homes along Sandal Street were damaged. A trailer was tipped over at LA 34 before the tornado reached EF2 strength as it moved into West Monroe. Power poles in this area were snapped, metal trusses were broken at a paper mill, and a wood chip conveyor belt was blown over. The tornado maintained EF2 intensity, crossed the Ouachita River two times, and impacted Riverbend Drive.

Less than two years after closing, Coney Island reopened permanently in 1973. The park was only a shadow of its former self but still featured several popular attractions. The Sunlite Pool — still the largest recirculating swimming pool in the world — was one of those attractions that helped Coney Island remain a popular summertime destination. The park donated of land for the construction of Riverbend Music Center which opened in 1984.

It includes the incorporated towns of Dallas, High Shoals (a portion of which is in Cherryville Township), and Stanley (shared with Riverbend Township). It also includes small portions of the city of Gastonia and a small outlying portion of the town of Ranlo.

Carrollton Avenue is a broad tree-covered avenue, with a large median (or neutral ground to locals) for most of its length. Riverside of South Claiborne Avenue, Carrollton has one lane of traffic and one lane of parking in each direction. The St. Charles Streetcar Line also runs along this section before turning onto St. Charles Avenue in the Riverbend. The landmark Camellia Grill is located near the streetcar turn.

The Riverbend Maximum Security Institution (RMSI) is a prison in Nashville, Tennessee, operated by the Tennessee Department of Correction. The prison opened in 1989 and replaced its 100-year-old neighbor, the Tennessee State Penitentiary. RMSI, which is made up by 20 different buildings, sits on located off Cockrill Bend Boulevard in Nashville, TN. Riverbend's designated capacity is 714 offenders. Of that number, 480 are classified as high risk.

Humber Summit in 1930. In the 1840s, Humber Summit began as a pioneer community, centred on the grist and saw mills. However, as the city boundaries crept closer, the area evolved into a resort community, called Riverbend Park. In 1953, the area, along with the rest of North York, was severed from York County, joining other municipalities south of Steeles Avenue to form the regional government of Metropolitan Toronto.

Wind Ensemble (Honors Band) Symphonic Band (Advanced Band) Concert Band (Regular Band) An advanced honors band for those interested in other music is the Left Bank Jazz Ensemble. They perform at all concerts and go on a field trip in December to Wilderness ES and Brock Road ES for a Christmas Tour.

Bulyea Heights is a residential neighbourhood in the Riverbend area of south west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The neighbourhood overlooks Whitemud Creek Ravine. The neighbourhood is named for George H. V. Bulyea, first Lieutenant- Governor of the Province of Alberta. The neighbourhood is bounded on the west by Terwillegar Drive, on the south by Rabbit Hill Road, on the north by Whitemud Drive, and on the east by the Whitemud Creek Ravine.

New Riverbend Mall In January 1990, the Etowah River rose up and flooded the mall. This prompted the closure and major cleanup of the mall. The flooding destroyed public perception, and the mall was even nicknamed the "brown mall" over the brown limestone texture of it combined with the brown water from the flood. After the cleanup, the anchors stores left when another mall, Mount Berry Square, opened to the north.

East Alton was incorporated as a village in 1893 (some say 1894). William Cobb, namesake of Cobb Street, was one of the first mayors, from 1895-1896, and again in 1902-1905. Like many Riverbend communities, the town dates back to when European settlers came to the area in the early 19th century. And it wasn’t always East Alton — the community was known as Emerald, Milton Settlement and Alton Junction.

Jimboomba Provisional School opened on 12 May 1890, becoming Jimboomba State School on 1 June 1900. Formerly in the Shire of Beaudesert, Jimboomba became part of Logan City following the local government amalgamations in March 2008. On 29 September 2017, areas in the east of the locality were excised to create the new localities of Glenlogan and Riverbend and to allow for the expansion of the boundaries of Flagstone and South Maclean.

The project was opposed by Maryland and Virginia, as well as by conservation organizations and fell out of favor with the Corps of Engineers in 1969. As with the Riverbend proposal, the reservoir was to spread along tributary creeks and reservoirs, in some cases considerable distances. This river was the inspiration for Florida film producer Elam Stoltzfus' 2005 project "Our Signature: the Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River," a film done in conjunction with the Loxahatchee River Preservation Initiative. Launching points for canoe and kayak trips on the river are accessible at Riverbend Park and at Jonathan Dickinson State Park The 1930s pioneer homestead of Trapper Nelson lies along the river in a section that runs through Jonathan Dickinson State Park.

This section of the road is mostly residential with the exception of the commercial area of Riverbend. Between South Claiborne Avenue and Earhart Boulevard, there are three lanes of traffic in each direction. The property changed hands several times, and passed under the ownership of Oliver Cromwell Gray, Hiram Thornton Gilbert, James W. Duncan, and Martha L. Buell. Ottawa attorney Andrew J. O'Conor III bought the house and property in 1920. The O'Conor's, who renamed the home "Riverbend," completed an extensive renovation of the home in 1923. The result was a house surrounded by a spacious yard with a commanding view of the Fox River.

Riverbend Mall was a shopping mall located in Rome, Georgia. It was open from 1975 to 2002, when it was demolished and replaced with a strip mall. The mall was built by the Ledbetter family, local developers that continue to own the property it sits on today. The Mall was the scene of a notorious kidnapping on September 25, 1982, of thirteen-year-old Lisa Ann Millican, by sexual predators Alvin and Judith Neelley.

Monica Bristow is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 111th District since December 2017. Dams at Sandy Hook, Rocky Marsh Run, Pinesburg and Little Orleans would convert the main stem of the river to a series of slackwater reservoirs. More dams on the North and South Forks of the Potomac, the North River and the Shenandoah River would complete the scheme. The Corps suggested that the discharge from the Riverbend Dam could enhance flow over Great Falls during daylight hours. Locks were to be provided to allow small craft to reach Harpers Ferry.

The proclamation earned the enmity of House Interior and Insular Affairs Committee Chairman Wayne Aspinall. Later in 1961 a park authorization bill was proposed with Aspinall's support that would allow dam construction on the Potomac. In May 1962 the Corps proposed a new scheme for 16 dams on the Potomac and its tributaries. This version scrapped most of the mainstem dams in favor of more tributary dams, and moved the Riverbend Dam to a site at Seneca, upstream.

Mignon Faget launched her first ready-to-wear line in 1969 in a studio in the Riverbend neighborhood of New Orleans. Faget studied sculpture at Newcomb then transitioned to design at D.H. Holmes Department store. While making a belt one day, Faget melted down wedding gifts into a design reminiscent of sand dollars and the sea. When customers saw the design, they asked to wear the shells as pendants, inspiring her to look further into creating accessories.

The Grenzpavillion ("Border Pavilion"), located on the Salzachknie riverbend between Laufen and Oberndorf, has ideal qualifications. The pavilion is a large cube, roughly 8 meters a side, with doors, windows and a weatherproof roof. Over time, it became an "art station", which from 1995 to 2002 served primarily as a venue for symposia. Concepts such as borders, river, bridge, relationship history, technology, disaster, nature and art are transposed by invited artists into sensory images to experience.

Riverbend Park extends on the north side of the Charles, from the Eliot Bridge to Western Ave. in Cambridge. In 1974 Isabella Halsted (who lived on Memorial Drive) circulated a letter asking if neighbors would support closing the Drive to vehicles on Sundays from spring to fall. She may have been familiar with the closing of sections of Rock Creek Parkway in Washington, D.C. A portion of the drive was blocked off for the first time the following year.

After earning his law degree, Ravitch worked for the House Government Operations Committee in Washington, D.C. and the New York State Commission on Governmental Operations for the City of New York. He joined his family's business, HRH Construction, in 1960. Coney Island is a small water park located on the banks of the Ohio River in Cincinnati, Ohio, approximately east of the downtown area in Anderson Township. The park sits directly adjacent to Riverbend Music Center and Belterra Park. Beginning in 1870, the original owner called the area Parker's Grove, which was later renamed Ohio Grove, The Coney Island of the West after the Ohio Grove Corporation purchased the park in 1886. The name was shortened to Coney Island the following season.

In 1997, the locality of Maclean was replaced by North and South Maclean; prior to this date, they have shared history. Formerly in the Shire of Beaudesert, South Maclean became part of Logan City following the local government amalgamations in March 2008. At the 2011 census, North Maclean had a population of 1,255. On 29 September 2017, South Maclean was extended eastward taking land from the west of Jimboomba as part of creating the new localities of Riverbend and Glenlogan.

Baseball, basketball, cheerleading, track, volleyball and wrestling hold their home contests on the EHS campus. The football team practices and plays their games at the historic Wimer Field, located at the former campus of Elkins High School in South Elkins. The cross country, swimming and tennis teams hold their home contests on the campus of Davis and Elkins College. The soccer team practices at EHS but plays their matches at Riverbend Park, also in south Elkins, maintained by the Elkins Park & Recreation Commission.

The former RM of North Cypress is located in the Westman region of the province between Brandon and Portage la Prairie. The Riverbend Music Center (officially known as the J. Ralph Corbett Pavilion) is an outdoor amphitheater located in Cincinnati, Ohio, along the banks of the Ohio River. It has a capacity of 20,500 (6,000 reserved seats and 14,500 on the lawn) and was built for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, to allow them to play in an outdoor venue during the summer months. Its location is directly adjacent to Coney Island water park and Belterra Park. Famed architect and 2012 Driehaus Prize winner Michael Graves designed the building.

When Riverbend opened in 1984, it was one of only 16 outdoor music amphitheaters in the United States and it helped revive the Cincinnati concert scene. Many concert promoters avoided Cincinnati following the December 3, 1979, The Who rock concert tragedy, in which 11 people died at Riverfront Coliseum. The city passed tough crowd control ordinances, which kept major acts away. Despite those factors, promoters gave the venue a chance and the fans were excited to see acts who had been avoiding the city since 1979.

The land was the former location of the Wildcat and Shooting Star roller coasters. The Riverbend amphitheater serves as the summer home of the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestras, as well as a concert venue for other musical acts. In 1991, Coney Island was purchased by Cincinnati businessman Ronald Walker. No longer held back by a corporate entity, management has been able to restore Coney Island as a traditional amusement park with familiar rides such as the "Tilt-A-Whirl", bumper cars, carnival games and musical shows.

T-RAN's earliest large venue performance took place at the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament in 1999 at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga arena, where he sang the national anthem. He also sang background for Shania Twain at the same venue in 2000 for her performance of the song, "God Bless the Child." Shania sent a letter to T-RAN thanking him for backing her. In 2009, he headlined one of the largest stages during prime time at the annual Riverbend Festival in Chattanooga.

The conductor had a large influence on Cincinnati's local music scene. In addition to conducting almost weekly subscription concerts with the Cincinnati Pops, he expanded the Pops program in 1984 to include a summer concert series at the newly built Riverbend Music Center on the banks of the Ohio River. He pushed for a new campus to house the city's public School for Creative and Performing Arts. He invited many local performers, including children's choruses and College-Conservatory students, to share the stage with the Pops.

The Loxahatchee River (Seminole for river of turtles) is a 7.6 mile river near the southeast coast of Florida. It is a National Wild and Scenic River, one of only two in the state, and received its federal designation on May 17, 1985. The source of the Loxahatchee River is in Riverbend Park on the south side of Indiantown Road about 1.5 miles west of I-95 and Florida's Turnpike in Jupiter, Florida. The Loxahatchee River flows out of the Jupiter Inlet and into the Atlantic Ocean.

Although certainly known to natives, the first reference to caves at Horne Lake is in a geological report from 1912. Two caves known as Main and Lower Main were thereafter known to loggers, and public visitation increased after they were publicised in 1939. In 1941 the larger Riverbend Cave was discovered and was a popular tourist site by 1945. In 1957 the Province placed a 29 ha reserve around the Horne Lake caves which by then had been stripped of many of their formations.

Founded by Mike Toth in 1982, the agency was first headquartered in New Orleans, located at the riverbend on the streetcar line. In 1985, Toth moved the company north to Concord, Massachusetts, behind the historic Old North Bridge. On August 6, the TNSC refused to grant a stay of Irick's execution to allow an appeal of the ruling. That same day, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam refused to intervene in Irick's case. Finally, on August 9, 2018, the day of his scheduled execution, the United States Supreme Court refused to grant a stay of execution to Irick on the grounds of his mental health.. Subsequently, Irick was executed at the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution that day. He was pronounced dead at 7:48 pm.

Established as a pennysaver in 1986, the publication transitioned into a newspaper in February 2014. By direction of Congress in 1936 and 1937 the Army Corps of Engineers, which manages Washington D.C.'s water supply system, examined possibilities for flood control along the Potomac. The Corps returned with an ambitious agenda for 14 dams on the main stem of the Potomac, its branches and its major tributaries. Beginning at tidewater, a dam at Chain Bridge would extend to Bear Island, where another dam would back a reservoir up to Great Falls. Just above Great Falls the Riverbend Dam would create a reservoir up to Sandy Hook, just below Harpers Ferry.

Enrolled students take all of their core academic classes at one of the six Governor's School sites. (Spotsylvania High School, Riverbend High School, Colonial Forge High School, Stafford Senior High School, King George High School, and North Stafford High School) Students who are not based at a school with a CGS site are bused to a site for these core courses. However, they are considered students of their neighborhood high schools where they take their elective courses. Ultimately, students graduate from their "base" school with special recognition for completing the Governor's School program.

The former Nemasket Mills was converted into residential condominiums in the 1980s, with a large addition constructed at the rear of the site, and is known as Riverbend Condominiums. An interesting feature of the mill conversion was the removal of the original large mill window panes and the construction of a new wall behind the original openings, creating balcony areas for the residents. The portion of the complex on the east side of Old Colony Avenue, formerly occupied by the shovel works, now contains various small commercial buildings.

Buffalo Billion is a billion-dollar program from the administration of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to revitalize Buffalo, New York. One of the main features of the program is a 1.2 million square foot solar panel factory called SolarCity RiverBend. It will be owned by SolarCity. The factory "is expected to become the largest manufacturing facility in the Western Hemisphere when it opens". Hiring for the factory is expected in spring of 2017 and the factory is expected to begin producing solar cells by the summer of 2017.

Red Bull Arena is a soccer-specific stadium in Harrison, New Jersey that is home to the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer and Sky Blue FC of the National Women's Soccer League. Featuring a partial transparent roof, it is located on the waterfront in the Riverbend District of Harrison across the Passaic River from Newark and approximately 7 miles (12 km) west of Lower Manhattan. The barge floats just off the shore against a large collection of amphitheater seats built into a hillside at the water's edge. The highway intersects KY 38 and crosses over Clover Fork at the south end of downtown Harlan. KY 72 splits into a one-way pair: northbound follows Main Street and southbound follows Cumberland Avenue. Quarry Park Station is a planned and approved CTrain light rail station in Calgary, Alberta, Canada part of the Green Line. Construction will begin in 2021 and complete in 2027 as part of construction stage one, segment one. The station is located in the largely commercial community of Quarry Park and will also serve the suburban communities of Douglas Glen and Riverbend. The station will connect one of the largest employment centres along the line, and is host to a number of large corporations and head offices for companies such as Imperial Oil.

Wildcat Hollow is a valley in the Appalachian Mountains in rural Litchfield County, Connecticut located on a riverbend of the Housatonic River. It is located about 3 miles west of Salisbury, 2½ miles north of Falls Village, 2 miles south of Twin Lakes, and a mile north west of the peak of Mount Prospect. It also has two roads, Wildcat Hollow Road that heads North West up Flink Hill and Housatonic River Road that runs north from Amesville and Falls Village to the south up north to Smith Hill.

Whitemud Creek as it flows through the Mactaggart Sanctuary, April 2013 Whitemud Creek is a tributary of the North Saskatchewan River in central Alberta, Canada. For part of its length, the creek flows through the City of Edmonton, separating neighbourhoods in the Riverbend and Terwillegar Heights areas from other neighbourhoods on the south side of the North Saskatchewan River. Terwillegar Drive begins at Whitemud Drive where Whitemud Drive turns from an east-west to north-south orientation as it approaches the North Saskatchewan River, and is accessible via a modified trumpet interchange with left exit ramps. The north end of the trail is near the turning basin of the Duwamish Waterway, near the south Seattle city limits. Heading upriver, the trail goes by Cecil Moses Park. It intersects the northern end of the Interurban Trail near Fort Dent Park in Tukwila, enters Kent near Briscoe Park (sometimes written as Brisco Park), and passes alongside the Green River Natural Resources Area and through the Riverbend Golf Complex, then meets the Interurban Trail again at Kent's Foster Park. The street follows the length of the crescent through Uptown. After several miles of residential and commercial neighborhoods, it cuts through Audubon Park, with Audubon Zoo on the river side of the street. The far upper end of the street is at Leake Avenue, a part of the Great River Road, where it turns away from the river in the Carrollton riverbend. After the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex in Pikeville opened in 2012, they were transferred to that facility. Cobbins is serving a life sentence without parole, and Thomas is serving 123 years to life, being eligible for parole in June 2064. At the height of this battle, Williams and the 39th, which comprised Jackson's main line, charged and captured the log barricade with which the Creeks had fortified the riverbend, forcing the Creeks to flee. In his report on the battle, Jackson commended the actions of Williams and several other officers of the 39th. While she was working in Chicago at Marshall Field & Co, she met John Michael Kohler III, who was at the time assigned as manager of the Kohler Company's Chicago branch office. John Kohler was the son of Walter J. Kohler, Sr.. They were married on January 7, 1933. The exact location of both battlefields was unclear for most of the 20th century. At one time it was incorrectly identified as having taken place in modern Jonathan Dickinon State Park, with a marker placed there accordingly. In the 1980s, numerous avocational archaeologists, not all of them working together, concluded Jesup's battle occurred in Jupiter Farms along the Loxahatchee River Northwest Fork around and south of Indiantown Road (SR 706). An extensive archaeological survey by professional archaeologist Robert S. Carr and his Archaeological and Historical Conservancy (AHC) confirmed the location of the battlefield as well as numerous Seminole and pre-Seminole archaeological sites in Riverbend Park.

Matthew James Arthur Jeneroux (born 1981) is a Canadian politician who was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 2015 federal election. He represents the electoral district of Edmonton Riverbend as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada caucus. Prior to his election to the House of Commons, he served in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta representing the electoral district of Edmonton-South West. Jeneroux was also a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012. In both 2016 and in 2017, Jeneroux was named one of the “Top Up and Comer’s” in Canadian Parliament by The Hill Times.

Using a similar design template from existing Sun City developments, Del Webb Communities purchased vast real estate holdings from the former Argent Lumber Company in the 1990s and began development of the Beaufort County portions. After his honorable discharge from the military, McGhee returned to performing at the Dallas Theater Center's Janus Players. In 1954, he broke racial barriers and was the first African-American actor to perform professionally on the Dallas stage in roles without racial requirements. He performed in more than 35 theater productions and stage plays, and in more than 15 films, including High Yellow (1965), Curse of the Swamp Creature (1966), Don't Look in the Basement (1973), Drive-In (1976), 1918 (1985) and Riverbend (1989). He was one of the first unionized African- American actors in Dallas with SAG (Screen Actors Guild) and AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists).

George Harry Cross was born in Montreal, Province of Canada to Julia Fisher Cross and Alex Cross, who was a member of the King's Council and was Chief Justice for the Province of Quebec, on September 15, 1854 and attended the High School of Montreal. He later attended the Upper Canada College, Nicolet College, and the University of Oxford. In December 1874 he moved to Riverbend, Colorado Territory and then moved to the Wyoming Territory in 1875. In 1883 he became an American citizen and in 1884 he returned to Montreal and married Lea Marie LeVasseur whom he would later have eleven children with, including Senate President George A. Cross.

LaRosa's Pizzeria is a chain of pizzerias serving neighborhoods in Cincinnati, Greater Dayton, Central Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana. It was founded in 1954 by Donald "Buddy" LaRosa, along with partners Richard "Muzzie" Minella, Mike Soldano and Frank "Head" Serraino. The Valley comprises an area stretching from the wetlands along Fritz Cove and Auke Bay back to the Mendenhall Glacier as well as Mendenhall Lake and the Mendenhall River, which for the most part drains the Valley. The Valley forms the core of Alaska's 34th election (or state House) district, which is represented in the Alaska House of Representatives by Justin Redbeard Parish, a Democrat. The 1948 short story "Blue Melody", by J. D. Salinger, and the 1959 play The Death of Bessie Smith, by Edward Albee, are based on Smith's life and death, but poetic license was taken by both authors; for instance, Albee's play distorts the circumstances of her medical treatment, or lack of it, before her death, attributing it to racist medical practitioners. The circumstances related by both Salinger and Albee were widely circulated until being debunked at a later date by Smith's biographer. HBO released a movie about Smith, Bessie, starring Queen Latifah, on May 16, 2015. In 1995, the Mankato Area Public Schools (ISD #77) formed a group to look at alternatives for public education in the area. Two years of discussion resulted in the founding of Bridges Community School, which was run by ISD #77 and initially served children in grades 5-6 (and later expanded to cover grades K-6). Recognizing the need for alternative educational opportunities for older students, work continued and a model was developed for a secondary-level charter school. In September 2000, the charter school opened its doors (as RiverBend Academy) to more than 150 students. As of the 200910 school year (the most recent year for which data is available as of August 2011), Kato Public served 69 students in grades 6-12.

The Atlantic coastal plain continued to build out to sea during the Cenozoic and the current sand, clay and gravel at surface on dry land and in rivers, lakes, and nearshore water all formed during the last 2.5 million years of the Quaternary. The Waccamaw Formation includes fossil bearing sands and formed between the Pliocene and the Pleistocene, in the southeasternmost part of North Carolina, south of Wilmington. The Comfort Member and New Hanover Member formed earlier and include bryozoan and echinoid fossils, skeletal limestone and phosphate pebble conglomerate. The smaller Riverbend Formation lies just to the east, running north and south from Jackson with a limestone unit and abuts the oyster shell mounds and clay sands of the Pollocksville Member.

Back in the United States, he served as head of the Architects' Renewal Committee in Harlem (ARCH) in 1967 and 1968. In 1970, together with Donald P. Ryder, he founded the architectural firm of Bond Ryder & Associates which was responsible for the design of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta, and the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, as well as Harlem's Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. The firm merged with Davis, Brody & Associates after Ryder's retirement in 1990. Bond became a partner at the newly combined firm of Davis Brody Bond, bringing over nine architects to join the nearly 100 at Davis, Brody, which had been best known for its work at Manhattan residential developments at Riverbend Houses, Waterside Plaza and Zeckendorf Towers.

Republic Steel and Donner Hanna Coke operated a steel mill along the Buffalo River on the 88-acre South Buffalo site from early in the 20th century to its closing in 1984. As a response to the regional manufacturing downturn related to deindustrialization in the Rust Belt, the State of New York created an economic stimulus package, later dubbed the "Buffalo Billion", providing $1 billion in unearmarked economic investments for the Buffalo area. In 2013, Cuomo announced the Buffalo High-Tech Manufacturing Hub at Riverbend, targeting the Republic Steel site, then a brownfield, for the development of a clean energy business incubation center that was to be funded with $225 million from the Buffalo Billion fund. At the time, the two companies announced as tenants were lighting manufacturer SORAA and solar panel manufacturer Silevo, which promised 475 jobs.

Al-Yawar, one of only a handful of Sunni leaders that did not boycott the elections and the only Sunni figure of national standing who appeared to have secured a place in the assembly, took five seats in Parliament. In the January 2006 election, he joined the Iraqi National List coalition with other secular politicians Ayad Allawi and Adnan Pachachi. He then became a member of the Iraqi Parliament and after a short period of time resigned from the Parliament to return to his private life. North of Riverbend Road, the routes curve from north-northeast to northwest and runs through local farmland. Within Broxton, the road is named Alabama Avenue. It makes a turn to the west just after the intersection with South Railroad Street and has a brief concurrency with SR 268 between Ocmulgee Street and west of Porea Street. Curving back to the northwest, it approaches the eastern terminus of former SR 706 (Fitzgerald Highway), and resumes its presence in Southern Georgia farm and ranch territory. The road briefly turns straight north before encountering an intersection with SR 107, which joins US 441/SR 31 in a short concurrency, then turns northwest again. Right after the bridge over Mill Creek, the concurrency with SR 107 is replaced by the one with US 319, as westbound SR 107 turns onto southbound US 319, and northbound US 319 joins US 441/SR 31\.

As a guest conductor, Maestro Russell has led many of North America's most distinguished ensembles, including the orchestras of Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, Victoria, Kitchener-Waterloo, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Dallas, Louisville, Boston Pops, The Cleveland Orchestra, Orchestra London, Miami's New World Symphony, the Minnesota Orchestra, Oregon Symphony, Colorado Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, New York Pops, New York City Ballet, New York Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Russell was associate conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for eleven years where he regularly led concerts at Music Hall and the Riverbend Music Center. He created the Classical Roots series, which continues to celebrate the music of African-American composers and performers in Music Hall and area churches, and was also the co-creator of the Christmas spectacular, Home for the Holidays. In September 1999, Russell replaced Erich Kunzel with an hour's notice to conduct the Cincinnati Pops' opening weekend concerts.

The Sequoyah Fund, for example, has made low-cost loans available to merchants in the Cherokee business district for new roofs and building facades that complement the Tribe's new Riverbend development and enhance the visual appeal of Cherokee's downtown. Other Sequoyah Fund loans and support services are helping new and experienced entrepreneurs to start and expand businesses.

The interchange at Deerfoot Trail is often congested, particularly for traffic travelling north-south on Deerfoot as the road squeezes to two lanes from three in each direction. East of Deerfoot, the freeway curves to the southeast and traffic levels decrease by approximately one half, to less than 70,000 vehicles per weekday in 2015. Glenmore Trail passes to the north of Calgary Auto Mall before crossing the Bow River on the Graves Bridge, which was twinned in 2009 and now carries three lanes westbound and four lanes eastbound on two separate structures. East of the river, Glenmore Trail passes between the residential areas of Ogden and Riverbend before a partial cloverleaf interchange at 18 Street SE. The freeway ends shortly after at Ogden Road, and the four lane expressway continues east through commercial and light industrial development across at- grade intersections with Barlow Trail and 52 Street SE, before its east terminus at a partial cloverleaf interchange at Stoney Trail.

The Kohler Company was founded in Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 1873, when John Michael Kohler II (1844–1900) took over his father-in-law's steel and iron factory. During the late 19th century it prospered as the producer of plumbing products and enamelware. In 1912, land around a new factory just west of Sheboygan became the Village of Kohler, Wisconsin. From 1905 until his death, John Michael's son Walter J. Kohler, Sr. (1875–1940) led the highly successful business. In the early 1920s, he built a family mansion, Riverbend, and was welcomed in high society in Chicago and elsewhere. In 1928, he became Governor of Wisconsin for a single term. With the passage of the National Industrial Recovery Act by Congress in June of 1933 that gave the employees the right to have a union, Kohler followed the lead of many industrialists and created a workers association that he could control to forestall the creation of an independent union. Although this association handled minor shop floor grievances they never negotiated contracts with the company instead they accepted the company’s offer.
