Kolsås ridge Kolsås () is a wooded mountain ridge in the municipality of Bærum, Norway. Geologically, Kolsås belongs to the Oslo Graben area. Its two peaks consist of hard rhomb porphyric lava covering softer rocks, forming steep cliffs to the east, south and west.

The tip-mounted ailerons were horn balanced, again unusual. The Phi-Phi had a rectangular cross-section fuselage, with sides that curved in at the nose and, more gently, towards the tail. The Oslo Graben or Oslo Rift is a graben formed during a geologic rifting event in Permian time, the last phase of the Variscan orogeny. The main graben forming period began in the late Carboniferous, which culminated with rift formation and volcanism, with associated rhomb porphyry lava flows. This activity was followed by uplifting, and ended with intrusions about 65 million years after the onset of the formation. It is located in the area around the Norwegian capital Oslo.

Nunbait were an Australian punk rock band formed in 1989. Frenzal Rhomb had languished for many years, a staple of Australian punk, but not of Australian music. The singles "You are Not My Friend", "Never Had So Much Fun" and "We're Going Out Tonight" all received considerable play-time on radio and television music video programmes, boosting the band's reputation.

Lindsay McAllister M "The Doctor" McDougall (born 9 March 1978) is an Australian rock guitarist and radio presenter. Since 1996, he has been the lead guitarist in punk rock band, Frenzal Rhomb alongside lead singer Jay Whalley. He has co-written songs with fellow band members including their highest charting single, "You Are Not My Friend". During 2003 McDougall organised Rock Against Howard, a compilation album, by various Australian musicians as a protest against incumbent Prime Minister, John Howard's government.

Hi-Vis High Tea is the ninth studio album by Australian punk band Frenzal Rhomb. It was recorded in Colorado, USA, with Bill Stevenson as producer and was released in Australia on Shock Records and Fat Wreck Chords on May 26, 2017. It was nominated at the 2017 ARIA Music Awards for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album, but lost to Northlane's Mesmer. The album is the first since a series of medical mishaps befall the band, delaying recording and release.

The connection between optical rotation and birefringence was further explained in 1822, in the memoir on elliptical and circular polarization. This was followed by the memoir on reflection, read in January 1823, in which Fresnel quantified the phase shifts in total internal reflection, and thence calculated the precise angle at which a Fresnel rhomb should be cut in order to convert linear polarization to circular polarization. For a refractive index of 1.51, there were two solutions: about 48.6° and 54.6°.

The Sandringham Hotel, locally known as The Sando, was a pub in the inner-west suburb of Newtown in Sydney, Australia. The pub first opened in 1870 and has a long history and is the spiritual homeland to several of Sydney's bands, including Frenzal Rhomb, Bughouse and The Whitlams. Before renovations in the late 1990s, the pub had a unique layout. The bar had an art-deco theme and was essentially a large square in the middle of the pub.

The Beautiful Girls continued with McHugh now on lead vocals, lead guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, melodica, and percussion – he was joined by (The Beautiful Girls producer) Pritchett on bass guitar, backing vocals, guitar, keyboards, and percussion, and Bruce Braybrooke (ex-Frenzal Rhomb, The Fantastic Leslie) on drums, percussion, and vocals. On 14 May 2007, the group issued their third album, Ziggurats, on Die!Boredom Records, with McHugh and Pritchett co- producing. The album peaked at No. 21 on the Australian albums chart.

During the main glaciations, the Skagerrak Trough was the meeting point for ice from southeastern Norway, southern Sweden and parts of the Baltic causing a relatively fast-moving ice stream that passed south of the Norwegian coast and then turned north, eventually reaching deepwater at about 62°N. The material carried by the ice stream was then deposited in the North Sea fan. Glacial erratics such as flint and rhomb porphyry, thought to originate from the Skagerrak and Oslo areas respectively,Raunholm,S., Larsen,E.

Frenzal Rhomb were the head-liners for the Australian leg of the 1998 Vans Warped Tour and they were recruited for the US edition. A 1998 version of Meet the Family contained a bonus disc, Mongrel, that was recorded live on this US leg. In March 1999, they released their next album, A Man's Not a Camel, which was produced by Eddie Ashworth and was supported by a nationwide tour. As from November 2011, it remains Frenzal Rhomb's highest charting album, reaching No. 11.

Jackie and her co-presenter, Kyle Sandilands, called Whalley on air during their next breakfast show. Whalley apologised for offending Jackie, but stood by his claims regarding the music industry. The conversation became heated as Sandilands told Whalley "Your songs being played on this network or the Triple M network... it's just not going to happen now"; to which Whalley argued that Frenzal Rhomb were almost never played on the Austereo network anyway. During the conversation, Sandilands told Whalley that he was bitter and sad.

The tour must have been quite excessive because trombonist, Ross McDonald, upon landing at Cape Town airport, was taken directly to rehab for alcohol and substance abuse. South Africa had by then reached the radar of international acts wanting to tour somewhere slightly different. Hog Hoggidy Hog got to play with, and also, in conjunction with Punk Safari, helped to organize the SA shows for bands such as Lagwagon, Nofx, Mad Caddies, Frenzal Rhomb and more. The band then go to working on their next studio album.

Forever Malcolm Young is the seventh studio album by Australian punk band Frenzal Rhomb. It was released in Australia on 14 October 2006, and includes 20 of the 27 songs recorded for it. The performers were Jay Whalley (credited as 'Jayden Whalley') on vocals and backing guitar, Lindsay McDougall (credited as 'The Good Doctor') on lead guitar, Gordy Foreman (credited as 'The Arsechest Formerly known as Poonce') on drums and Tom Crease (credited as 'Brigadier Tom Cruise') on bass guitar. All members provide backing vocals.

Fabrics wore symbols appointed by virtue of faith, thus spinning and weaving became sacred. Therefore, were customary on the dresses the solar circle, the column of the sky, the rhomb, the hatch or the curved lines. Since 3500 BC and until year zero has passed from the sacred weaving to the vestment, the ritual reaching from the imposing space of the temple to the household hearth. The purpose of the garments worn by the ancestors was to facilitate dialogue with the unseen forces of the cosmos.

One single was issued from The Loudest Engine, "Into the Sky" (July 2011). Juanita wrote the lyrics herself while in Sydney, about someone close to her that she missed who was constantly travelling. The instrumentation for the single originated when Juanita created a guitar riff and played it to Picchio, at which point he composed the bass parts. Lindsay McDougall, guitarist for Frenzal Rhomb and Triple J radio presenter, noted to Juanita as he interviewed her for his radio show, that the song's bass line resembled that of "The Peter Gunn Theme".

It can become a large tree, up to high and in diameter. One tree, felled by a storm in 1954, reportedly measured in diameter at the height of a man's chest and a total volume, including the branches, of 87 m³. The coihue usually has elegant branches which are flattened horizontally. The leaves are evergreen, small (25–40 mm long and 10–16 mm wide), thick, coriaceous (leathery) and lustrous, dark green, with toothed borders and an acute apex; they have a very small, rounded and rhomb-shaped petiole.

After originally conceiving Hamburger to be a studio-only character, Turkington was convinced to perform as the character on stage. His first shows were supporting punk rock band Frenzal Rhomb, who flew Turkington from the United States to Australia especially for the performance. Neil Hamburger would later appear in the music videos for the songs "Ballchef" and "Punisher" from Frenzal Rhom's 2003 album Sans Souci. Turkington as Neil Hamburger in Portland, Oregon, 2004 Hamburger was a frequent guest on the Internet talk show Tom Green's House Tonight (2006–2013).

They released a self-titled album in 2005 after Hetherington left the band in May 2004 while on tour with The Offspring. Hetherington was temporarily replaced for the remainder of the tour by Gordy Forman of Australian punk band Frenzal Rhomb. The role was then filled by Wakker, formerly of the band Channel 3, and he was named the group's permanent drummer later that year. Despite having their commercial peak seemingly behind them, Bodyjar remained a major attraction on the all-ages circuit in Australia, and continued to tour and play festivals.

Batfoot are a four-piece punk rock band from Sydney, Australia. The band are heavily influenced by the Ramones, Screeching Weasel, The Queers, and Chixdiggit!. To date Batfoot have played with bands such as The Tenants, No Fun At All, The Flatliners, Strike Anywhere, Magic Dirt, Rehab For Quitters, Guttermouth, The Dickies, The Adolescents, Toe To Toe, MxPx, Frenzal Rhomb, Nancy Vandal, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Teenage Bottlerocket, and The Hard-Ons. In 2008 their debut EP, Melodic Tardcore, was self-released, and available from It's Alive Records.

Whalley argued that gender was irrelevant to the issue, and in response to Sandilands' threat of violence asked Jackie if she was aware that her security guard had threatened a band technician with violence. Sandilands said he endorsed the threat of violence. Sandilands argued to Whalley that he has to "get over it" when Whalley recommended that radio DJs should promote original Australian music. In reply, Sandilands insinuated that Frenzal Rhomb, and bands in general, suffer from a lack of support because they are not "putting [their] stuff in front of the right people".

On the disk are four nearly equidistant black prominent dots forming a rhomb, one within the costal edge at the basal third, one opposite a little farther outward within the dorsal margin on the fold, a third also on the fold near base, and the fourth on the middle of the wing. A fifth similar black spot is found just outside the end of the cell at the same distance from point four as that between the other dots. The hindwings are light silvery fuscous.Proc. U.S. Nat. Mus.

For the Term of Their Unnatural Lives is a collection of Frenzal Rhomb songs recorded specially for compilations and singles and other records including a cover version of "We Built This City" and a track originally planned for release on the A Man's Not a Camel album, "Gambling, Vomit, Sleeping in the Bin". It also includes digitally remastered versions of their first EP Dick Sandwich and their first album Coughing Up a Storm. Included in the cover booklet are comments about most of the songs, written by Ben Costello and Lindsay McDougall.

Confession was started by Michael Crafter in 2008, following his Australian farewell tour with I Killed the Prom Queen. The first member that Crafter enlisted for his new band was guitarist Dan Brown, who previously played in Byron Bay based hardcore punk band 50 Lions. On 11 October 2008, the band released their first EP on Resist Records entitled Can't Live, Can't Breathe. The EP featured a cover of the Frenzal Rhomb song "Ship of Beers", as well as 7 original songs, one of which was an intro.

Not So Tough Now is the second studio album released in July 1996 by Australian punk rock band Frenzal Rhomb, the follow-up to their first album Coughing up a Storm. This was the last album with Ben Costello on guitar, who was replaced by Lindsay McDougall not long after its release. The secret track at the end of the album is said to be a song about his departure. Reviewed in Juice at the time of release, the contrast of, "the ocker inflections, beery aggro and dumb-fun pretences" and Jay Whalley's "philosophy student upbringing" were noted.

Some of his works (Razorvanoye chudo (The Torn Miracle, 1978), Pyat kostrov rombom (Five Bonfires In A Rhomb, 1989), Shpion protiv alkhimikov (A Spy Versus Alchemists, 1994), Shkatulka rytsarya (The Knight's Casket, 1996) became popular. Prashkevich graduated from Tomsk University and participated in various geological and paleontological expeditions to Ural, Kuzbass, Yakutia, Far East and Kamchatka. As a science fiction writer Prashkevich debuted with the story Ostrov Tumanov (The Island of Mists) in 1957, having close ties with Ivan Yefremov by that time. His verse books include Posvyashcheniya (The Dedications, 1992) and Spor s dyavolom (A Dispute With Devil, 1996).

A full-length album by The Falcon was released that Fall, and in December The Lawrence Arms embarked on their first headlining tour of Australia, also playing supporting shows with Frenzal Rhomb. In March 2007 McCaughan released the debut album from his acoustic side-project Sundowner. The Lawrence Arms toured again in the fall of 2007, with their side projects The Falcon and Sundowner as openers along with the recently reunited American Steel. McCaughan also toured as Sundowner in the mainly acoustic/folk Revival Tour featuring Chuck Ragan of Hot Water Music, Ben Nichols of Lucero, and Tim Barry.

Aussie Hip Hop The 2005 festival, featuring Spiderbait, Frenzal Rhomb, The Flairz, Screaming Jets, and Dallas Crane, was held at Anzac Oval (where all but the first festival have been held) on Saturday 10 September.BASSINTHEDUST To Rock For 11-Hours The 2006 festival, featuring End of Fashion, Pete Murray and The Living End, was held on Saturday 23 September with an audience of around 2300.Record Crowd Rocks Bassinthedust Hilltop Hoods were meant to play but were unable to make it to Alice Springs for the show. They later put on a show to make up for missing the festival.

The Decline were formed in Perth, Western Australia in 2005 by school friends Pat Decline, Dan Cribb & James Davies. The Decline performed at numerous punk shows in Perth during their formative years, most notably as an opening act for Frenzal Rhomb at Club Capitol in Perth on December 8, 2007. At this time, all of the members of The Decline were underage and lied about their age in order to be able to play the show. In 2008 Nathan Cooper was added to the lineup and The Decline recorded and released their first EP, _The Same Kind_.

A&M; Records released the album in the United States on 7 September 1984. Later in July 1985 the band took the honours in the "Best Debut Album" category at the 1984 Countdown Awards. Stoneage Romeos was re-released by Arcadia Records on 1 October 2002, with two additional tracks, "Hoodoo You Love" and "Be My Guru". EMI also re- released the album on 24 October 2005 with three bonus tracks, "Leilani Pt. 2", "Be My Guru" and "Hoodoo You Love", a fold-out poster and liner notes by Lindsay "The Doctor" McDougall of Frenzal Rhomb.

When Whalley pointed out that Sandilands is in a position to promote new Australian music but doesn't, Sandilands countered that Frenzal Rhomb is not played on the network "because it's pretty much shit". While Sandilands agreed that shows like Popstars and Australian Idol are interested in making "a quick buck", he also asserted that he doesn't "care about Australian Idol or Popstars". Sandilands argued that Whalley should not "pick fights with people that are female in the Northern Territory". Sandilands asserted that if he himself were present, "it would have been on for young and old".

The PooPoo PeePee Tour was a concert tour by rock band Blink-182, Launched in support of the group's 1997 album Dude Ranch, the tour visited clubs and theaters in the summer/fall of 1998. It was the first major tour with drummer Travis Barker, who replaced original drummer Scott Raynor midway through a summer tour. Supporting acts included Unwritten Law and Home Grown. On October 1, 1998, the tour merged for one night only with the ongoing Reel Big Fish, Spring Heeled Jack and Frenzal Rhomb tour at the Hunka Bunka Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey.

Fat Wreck Chords (pronounced "Fat Records") is a San Francisco, California- based independent record label, focused on punk rock. It was started by NOFX lead singer Michael Burkett (better known as Fat Mike) and his girlfriend at the time, Erin Burkett, in 1990. The label has released material for many notable bands including NOFX, Good Riddance, Mad Caddies, Descendents, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, The Loved Ones, Screeching Weasel, Propagandhi, Rise Against, Lagwagon, Strung Out, No Use for a Name, Frenzal Rhomb, Less Than Jake, Against Me!, Hi-Standard, Snuff, Leftöver Crack, and Anti-Flag.

Adrian Griffin formed AGaugeFor, a metal band, in 1998 in Sydney: he originally played bass guitar and provided backing vocals. The other founding members were Tim Manton on drums and Nathan Williams on vocals and guitar. In March 2000 their track, "Trawl It", was added to the national youth radio, Triple J's playlist and in the following month the station's music director, Richard Kingsmill, invited the band to perform a live set for his Australian Music Show. The band supported Incubus, Sprung Monkey (USA), Down By Law (USA), Suicidal Tendencies (USA), 28 Days, Pacifier, Frenzal Rhomb, Bodyjar, Superheist and Sunk Loto.

If the incident beam is linearly polarized at some other inclination, the emerging beam is elliptically polarized with one principal axis in the plane of reflection, and vice versa. The rhomb usually takes the form of a right parallelepiped — that is, a right parallelogram- based prism. If the incident ray is perpendicular to one of the smaller rectangular faces, the angle of incidence and reflection at the next face is equal to the acute angle of the parallelogram. This angle is chosen so that each reflection introduces a phase difference of 45° between the components polarized parallel and perpendicular to the plane of reflection.

After an August 2003 tour in Australia with Fat Wreck Chords band Frenzal Rhomb, 2005–2012 was Fuzigish's most stable period and saw the release of the album "Roll With The Punches" with Ampie Omo joining the line-up between from late 2006–2010 on trumpets and percussion. The album featured guest spots from Joey Cape & Fokofpolisiekar. During this period they featured in the 2007 'Footskating 101' Film Soundtrack directed by Thomas Ferreira and Brendan Jack. In 2011 the band released the 25-track album "Setlist" which featured two new songs, and 23 songs from all four previous albums that were played at live shows, hence the title.

In this diagram the enharmonic triphonia can be found as part of the and the rhomb, between the crosses at the bottom left and right, and as part of the fourth between the right part of cross at the bottom right, and the left part of the cross at the top left. The simplest case is the triphonia between and which can be imagined as a repeating chain of tetrachords between Do—Fa. It has its finalis between a descending and an ascending tetrachord which are connected by the finalis—the crossing point. Here the complication is similar to those between heptaphonia and tetraphonia.

After two such reflections, the phase difference is 1/4 of a cycle (bottom graph), so that the polarization is elliptical with axes in the s and p directions. If the s and p components were initially of equal magnitude, the initial polarization (top graph) would be at 45° to the plane of incidence, and the final polarization (bottom graph) would be circular. A Fresnel rhomb is an optical prism that introduces a 90° phase difference between two perpendicular components of polarization, by means of two total internal reflections. If the incident beam is linearly polarized at 45° to the plane of incidence and reflection, the emerging beam is circularly polarized, and vice versa.

Towe himself, a clay specialist, briefly considered the possibility that the anatase could have come from clay, where it is present in trace amounts, but on checking McCrone's data found no significant traces of clay minerals. Shortly before the Raman analysis was published, historian Douglas McNaughton based a mistaken theory about the ink around McCrone's emphasis on the chromium-rich black particle, having obtained unpublished data on the similar particles in Möller's report. Olin published a paper that identifies the anatase in the Vinland Map ink as being truncated bi-pyramidal rather than rounded crystals (however, this is not vastly different from the McCrones' 1974 description of the crystals as "smooth, rounded rhomb shapes").

In October they went on a full European tour together with Turtlehead and this was immediately followed by a tour of Asia and Australia in Nov/Dec! The first show was in Hong Kong and the band went from here up to Beijing where another couple of shows were played. After touring China (as the first foreign punk band ever) and basically risking their lives considering the contents of their lyrics, they played four shows in Japan and then flew over to Australia for the last two weeks on this tour. In Australia they played with Frenzal Rhomb which is one of the biggest punk bands around attracting up to 5 thousand (people) at their shows.

On January 5, 2015 former bassist and vocalist Dan Cribb announced the departure of himself and guitarist Nathan Cooper from The Decline. On January 9 of the same year, Pat Decline announced that longtime friends of the band, Ben Elliott and Ray Chiu would be taking over guitar and bass duties and that The Decline were entering the studio to begin working on their third studio album. Subsequently, The Decline released a new single entitled "Giving Up Is A Gateway Drug" and embarked on a national tour, performing headline shows and as a support act for Local Resident Failure, Guttermouth & Frenzal Rhomb. On June 12, 2015, the band released their third studio album "Resister" through Pee Records.

Sydney: ABC Books for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Spencer and Anderson broadcast their final program for the station on Friday 26 November 2004 from Sydney University's Manning Bar, a site that held sentimental value to Spencer, as that was where he got his start in stand-up comedy. In 2005, Jay and Lindsay (aka 'The Doctor') from Frenzal Rhomb took over as hosts of triple j's breakfast show. New segments include the radio skits Space Goat and Battalion 666, as well as the Under the Weather Sessions and The Friday Fuckwit. From 8 January 2007, former Lunch presenter Myf Warhurst joined Jay and Lindsay as a permanent member of the Breakfast Show team.

The multiple internal reflections cause a polarization-dependent phase-lag of the transmitted light, in a manner similar to a Fresnel rhomb. This must be suppressed by multilayer phase- correction coatings applied to one of the roof surfaces to avoid unwanted interference effects and a loss of contrast in the image. In a roof prism without a phase-correcting coating, s-polarized and p-polarized light each acquire a different geometric phase as they pass through the upper prism. When the two polarized components are recombined, interference between the s-polarized and p-polarized light results in a different intensity distribution perpendicular to the roof edge as compared to that along the roof edge.

It was conceived by the Publications Co-ordinator on the Green Party of England and Wales#Executive 25-year-old Matt Wootton in late Summer 2003. It was first used in a leaflet at the Green Party's Autumn Conference in Lancaster in 2003. The Real Progress phrase was based on a theme initiated by External Communications Co-ordinator 2000-2004 Dr Spencer Fitz-Gibbon. By the end of the year Wootton had employed graphic designer Jim Killock to unify the words Green Party and Real Progress in a single "badge" and the "lozenge" was born, inspired as a homage to the European Green Party's "rhomb" which Wootton and Killock considered clunky (see Wootton's homepage).

The group had sent Triple J host and Frenzal Rhomb member, Lindsay McDougall, along to deliver an acceptance speech even though they felt a win was "highly improbable". In the prepared speech, the band indicated they could not afford to attend, they thanked their fans and families; then they addressed the local music industry "as you were … please carry on … we mean you no harm. We will continue to write Rock Music that we enjoy, play shows when and where we can, and record and release this music as our time, money, and circumstances permit. None of these activities concern you so please, move along, and let us never speak of this again".

Psychobilly group The Living End were successful internationally in the 1990s The 1990s saw continued overseas success from groups such as AC/DC, INXS, Men at Work, Midnight Oil, The Bad Seeds, and a new indie rock scene started to develop locally. Sydney-based Ratcat were the first new band to achieve a mainstream following, while bands such as the Hoodoo Gurus got off to a slower start; their debut album Stoneage Romeos earned a small following but failed to captivate a mainstream that at the time "didn't get it". Later reviews would describe the band as "integral to the story of Aussie indie music", influencing bands including Frenzal Rhomb and Jet. The band would go on to become an ARIA Hall of Fame inductee.

Smoko at the Pet Food Factory is the eighth studio album by Australian punk band Frenzal Rhomb. It was recorded in Colorado, USA, with Bill Stevenson as producer and was released in Australia on Shock Records on August 19, and in the USA on Fat Wreck Chords on October 11. The album's name is a double reference: in Australia, a smoko is a popular term for a short, informal cigarette break and Bill Stevenson's Blasting Room studio where the album was recorded is located next to a pet food processing factory the smell of which permeates the surrounding area. It was nominated at the 2012 ARIA Music Awards for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album, but lost to DZ Deathrays for Bloodstreams.

GR-AOdo Ms. 319, fol. 18v) The diagram consist of 4 separated X shaped chains or crosses, each of them have a major circle in the center for the pitch class (phthongos) which connects the two branches on the left (or on the right side) of the cross. For the beginning it is enough to understand, that the four crosses are ascribed to the phthongos at the crossing point like protos, devteros, tritos and which correspond to the four peripheral circles of the Koukouzelian wheel. They can also be regarded from a different angle as four rhombs which connect two neighbouring phthongoi at the crossing point, because the phthongoi on the top and on the bottom between two crosses meet within each rhomb.

Known for their droning, fuzzed-out bass and wah-wah guitar with repetitive lyrics, the Cosmic Psychos have a simple sound that has remained relatively unchanged since they formed in 1982. The Cosmic Psychos had a significant influence on the Seattle Sound during the 1990s, and were seen as some of the pioneers of grunge. Known for their hard drinking behaviour and vulgar lyrics, the Cosmic Psychos are one of the defining bands of the yob rock genre, a movement that celebrates the Australian male lifestyle; yob rock contemporaries include The Onyas and The Vee Bees. Their fans include Buzz Osborne from the Melvins, Donita Sparks from L7, Lindsay McDougall from Frenzal Rhomb and Kurt Cobain from Seattle band Nirvana.

Some important events during this phase included: the new Saxon rhomb trademark was introduced; three large new furnaces for annealing and glost were built: and a new steam engine was purchased to operate the mill on the large factory floor. Other innovations and measures to modernise took place during this period, which was characterized by an ever- increasing degree of mechanisation of operations. An important element was the establishment of a railway line between Blankenhain and Weimar in 1887; this provided a major advantage for the factory, which by that time had already been producing mainly large quantities of porcelain goods. So in 1879 with transport costing less and production numbers steadily increasing, sons Max and Karl Fasolt took over the running of the company.

The band briefly pursued an "anti-Conan" riff, although the intent was likely jocular. The credits on the album Heavy Petting Zoo call on MTV, along with commercial radio stations and major labels, saying "we've been doin' just fine all these years without you so leave us the fuck alone" and calls them "assholes." Fat Mike has also repeatedly conducted interviews with the Australian alternative radio station Triple J on its breakfast show with Jay (Jason Whalley) and the Doctor (Lindsay McDougall). Jay and the Doctor are both members of Frenzal Rhomb, an Australian punk rock band that has played many tours and festivals with NOFX, and has its music distribution outside Australia handled by Mike's Fat Wreck Chords label.

In 2006, he was the subject of a song (and album) title by Australian punk rock band Frenzal Rhomb: "Forever Malcolm Young". In 2017, Gretsch guitars reissued the Gretsch G6131MY, a signature guitar based on Young's modified 1963 Gretsch Jet Firebird. On the day of Young’s passing, several of the biggest names in rock and metal sent out tributes to Young, including Eddie Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Guns N’ Roses, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, Billy Idol, Paul Stanley of Kiss, Joe Walsh, Joe Satriani, Def Leppard, Scott Ian of Anthrax, Foo Fighters, Alice Cooper, and Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue. Many of these artists covered an AC/DC song at their concerts on the day of or around the time of Young’s passing as part of their tribute.

By the early 1990s, the success of grunge music, American punk veterans and revivalists, as well as local bands like the Hybernators, the Speed Demons, the Meanies, Frenzal Rhomb, and Screamfeeder led to the formation of punk-influenced bands such as the Living End, Jebediah, Bodyjar, 28 Days, Dreamkillers, Four Zero One Four, Align, and Guttersnipes. Punk revival scenes began in various cities around Australia. In one of these cities (Melbourne) punk has seen a resurgence in recent years. Along with straight up punk bands like Dixon Cider, Scrayfish, the Half Pints, Let's Jump Ship and the Flying Rats forming, there have also been the emergence of folk punk bands like Gentleman's Riot, Mutiny and Catgut Mary and skate punk bands such as Bombs Are Falling and Postscript .

Later, he coined the terms linear polarization, circular polarization, and elliptical polarization, explained how optical rotation could be understood as a difference in propagation speeds for the two directions of circular polarization, and (by allowing the reflection coefficient to be complex) accounted for the change in polarization due to total internal reflection, as exploited in the Fresnel rhomb. Defenders of the established corpuscular theory could not match his quantitative explanations of so many phenomena on so few assumptions. Fresnel had a lifelong battle with tuberculosis, to which he succumbed at the age of 39. Although he did not become a public celebrity in his lifetime, he lived just long enough to receive due recognition from his peers, including (on his deathbed) the Rumford Medal of the Royal Society of London, and his name is ubiquitous in the modern terminology of optics and waves.

After years of hard work, touring and self-promotion, L8XG was offered a slot on the Australian leg of the 1998 Van's Warped Tour. The feat was considered to be one of the bands crowning achievements, as they were asked to play the main stage of the tour, alongside acts such as Suicidal Tendencies, Less Than Jake, the Deftones, MxPx, 22 Jacks, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, HepCat, Pennywise, Area 7, GrinSpoon, Frenzal Rhomb, Unwriten Law and many more. The tour, which spanned the month of January 1999 (even though it was the '98 Warped Tour, the tour lasted until January), provided the band the luxury of reaching out to large audiences on a daily basis (performing in front of as many as 15,000 people). Upon return, Latex Generation was offered a tour, supporting pop-punk legends Lagwagon (Fat Wreck Chords) and Colorado punk icons ALL.

It was two levels with a stage, sound system, dance floor and bar on the main floor; the second was a mezzanine level, the most intimate area of the club with its lounge type setting. A second bar and dance floor, Door No. 3, was located downstairs in the basement. Notable artists who have played Double Door include local acts Emilie Autumn, The Smashing Pumpkins, American Cosmonaut, Local H, Chevelle, Veruca Salt, Wilco, Liz Phair, Liquid Soul, Rise Against, Cheap Trick, Andrew Bird and Chance The Rapper, as well as a number of national and international talents, including The Rolling Stones, The Killers, Of Monsters and Men, Cypress Hill, John Legend, Kings of Leon, Kanye West, Sonic Youth, Ray LaMontagne, Har Mar Superstar, Frenzal Rhomb and FIDLAR. Double Door also hosted such events as MOB fest, television show and movie filmings, and events sponsored by ASCAP, Maverick Records, MTV, VH1, Nike, Billboard, VICE, Starbucks and Rolling Stone magazine among others.

They spent the next 2 years touring nationally alongside bands including Reel Big Fish, The Aquabats, The Hippos, Fenix TX and Frenzal Rhomb, as well as touring as part of the 1999 and 2000 Warped Tour. My Superhero received regular exposure on KUCIs pioneering Ska Parade radio show, managing to tie the record held by Long Beach's One Eye Open for the most on-air live performances. In April 2000, the band attracted minor controversy through an article published by the OC Weekly which revealed numerous homophobic comments frontman Brian Gilmore had posted on My Superhero's own eGroups message board, among them his beliefs that gay men were pedophiles and several uses of the word "fag". When pressed for comment, the band's manager initially stated that "the real haters" were people who took issue with Gilmore's comments, claiming "that's also hatred on their part", though later called the event "unfortunate" and added that Gilmore felt "apologetic".

Mills was later replaced by ex-Slapstick trombonist Pete Anna in January 1998 (trombonist Lars Nylander served as a fill-in during the fall of 1997). Around this time, Vinnie Fiorello also started his own record label, Fueled by Ramen, with friend John Janick, as a means to find and promote up-and-coming bands that he himself would want to hear. During 1997 the band embarked on the Caffeine Nation Tour with the Descendents, Guttermouth, and Handsome; the Race Around Uranus Tour with Blink-182 and Frenzal Rhomb; and the Warped Tour, helping the band spend the majority of the year on Billboard Heatseekers chart. In 1998, after participating in the Ska Against Racism Tour with such ska acts as The Toasters and Mustard Plug, and the Warped Tour, the band released Hello Rockview, which included the songs "All My Best Friends Are Metalheads" and "Last One Out Of Liberty City", which is commonly used as a circle-pitter.

At the end of that memoir, Fresnel predicted that one could use an analogous arrangement of prisms, without compression, to verify that optical rotation is a form of birefringence. If the prisms were cut from monocrystalline quartz with their optic axes aligned along the row, and with alternating directions of optical rotation, an object seen by looking along the common optic axis would give two images, which would seem unpolarized if viewed through an analyzer alone; but if viewed through a Fresnel rhomb, they would be polarized at ±45° to the plane of reflection (because they would initially be circularly polarized in opposite directions). In the memoir of December 1822, in which he introduced the term circular polarization, he reported that he had confirmed this prediction. To obtain a visible separation of the images, he needed only one 14°-152°-14° prism and two half-prisms; he merely remarked in passing that one could increase the separation by increasing the number of prisms.
