The programme received over 900 complaints from those who believed it was biased against Salmond. However, the BBC noted that the outcome of the trial was 'fairly reflected in the programme', with the programme aiming to look at the wider political consequences of the case rather than rerunning Salmond's trial. The BBC also noted that Salmond had been asked to take part in the programme but had refused with the programme containing supporters of the former First Minister such as Jim Sillars and Kenny MacAskill.

When used to refer to the rebroadcast of a single episode, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz are generally credited as the inventors of the rerun; it was first utilized for the American television series I Love Lucy (1951–57) during Ball's pregnancy. Prior to I Love Lucy rerunning its episodes during the summer, shows typically went on a summer hiatus and were replaced with summer replacements, generally lower-priority programs; this strategy has seen increased use in the 21st century as fewer episodes have been produced each season and in-season reruns have increased. Rod Serling's 1955 teleplay Patterns was credited with proving reruns' viability; buoyed by strong word of mouth, the rerun of Patterns drew more viewers than the first run as people who had missed the first airing a month prior tuned in to catch the re- airing.Gould, Jack.

Jim administered justice in a somewhat more conventional (and it was hoped, popular) Western fashion, was offered the job of sheriff by Ma Ketcham, then rode out of town on a motorcycle, saying he expected he might come back sometime. This solution made recasting and retitling the program unnecessary while allowing for considerable changes, and leaving the door open for a second season. However this episode proved to be the final one; before it aired NBC cancelled the series, rerunning the earlier episodes in the summer of 1972. (One previously pre-empted episode featuring the original Nichols was also run in the summer.) Garner offered an alternate version in his Archive of American Television interview, stating that once the series was canceled, Garner insisted on killing the lead character in the series' last episode so that there could never be a revival.

The series received very good critical response and viewership in other countries too and as of 2009 being shown in Singapore's MediaCorp Channel 8 (in weekday one hour series from June 9, 2006 to October 23, 2009, 4.30–5.30 pm, becoming the longest running drama on Channel 8 in 46 years) rerunning in the pre-dawn hours from Tuesdays to Saturdays 4.00–6.00 am from January 7, 2009 to September 9, 2010, and the third time from 4 October 2010 from Mondays to Thursdays at 10.00 am – 12.00 noon and ended in 2012. Singapore's Channel 8, China's CCTV-8 and Hong Kong's ATV Channel all aired with each episode running 1 hour, with a total of 872 episodes. It has ended its run on Malaysia's Astro Cable Service. The Vietnamese dub "Tinh Dau Kho Phai" was broadcast on THVL Channel and is streamable on YouTube with a total of 767 episodes.

She lamented both the conduct of the elections and the recent changes to Bulgaria's electoral code and raised concerns over the election over the mayorship of the Shumen Province, where the candidate supported by GERB defeated the Socialist Party's nominee by just 77 votes, while the electoral authorities declared over 400 ballots as 'invalid'. She also stated that the socialist party's candidate in the Lovech Province had also lost the election to GERB's nominee by just 347 votes and alleged that in that case the number of invalidated ballots was also "huge". She finished by stating that her party was considering filing a petition before the Bulgarian courts for the annulment and rerunning of the elections in these provinces. A newly elected mayor hailing from the Alternative for Bulgarian Revival stated that a fellow local councillor and party member in the city of Strelcha was ambushed and badly beaten during the dark hours of the day due to his local political activities in favour of the party.

Another World was the last of all the long-running soap opera programs of the time to be preserved in this way. The other book was decidedly different; The Ultimate Another World Trivia Book, by Gerard J. Waggett, listed several juicy tidbits about the show's stars and what happened behind- the-scenes. Many fans have treated Poll's book as they would a high school yearbook by getting Another World performers to sign their autographs in the book along with messages of appreciation or thanks for the fans' continued support in watching the program. From July 2003 to April 2007, SOAPnet, an ABC channel, started rerunning old Another World episodes that originally aired from July 1, 1987, to May 10, 1991. SOAPnet stopped airing reruns of Another World to make room on its schedule for reruns of One Tree Hill and The O.C.. The Another World Reunion aired on SOAPnet on October 24, 2003.

Seven years after the show ended on FOX (and in celebration of the show's 20th anniversary), MADtv was briefly revived for eight episodes on The CW (with episodes rerunning on streaming service Hulu). Critics did not take kindly to the revival, feeling that the show's quality had dramatically fallen due to an inexperienced new cast, production values that were worse than what was shown during the show's last seasons on FOX, writers who were too restrained by the censorship rules of primetime American TV to be edgy and funny, and former cast members being brought back to help the cast. On the casting front, Nicole Sullivan, Will Sasso, Ike Barinholtz, Bobby Lee, Debra Wilson, Aries Spears, Alex Borstein, Mo Collins, and Anjelah Johnson returned as guests. New cast members include Carlie Craig, Chelsea Davison, Jeremy D. Howard, Amir K (the show's first -- and only -- Middle Eastern cast member, as well as the second cast member after season one's Bryan Callen to be born outside of North America, and the only MADtv writer to be upgraded to cast member), Lyric Lewis, Piotr Michael, Michelle Ortiz, and Adam Ray.
