It is located on a 193-acre former industrial area, the former Mid-Hudson Recycling Center, which was destroyed in a massive 1996 fire. It is fueled by natural gas supplied from a trunk pipeline, one of many that are located along the east coast.

Mercury is also the main management area for the site which includes a bar and large cafeteria, printing plant, medical center, warehousing, fleet management, liquidation and recycling center, engineering offices, dormitories, and other administrative areas for both the O&M; contractors, LLNL, LANL, and SNL personnel. At its height in the 1950s and '60s, it also held several restaurants, a bowling alley, a movie theater, and a motel.

Other major businesses of Solvay include the Frazer & Jones Company (Division of the Eastern Company), a foundry; Crucible Steel, producer of specialty steels; Iroquois China Company (Solvay China); Pass & Seymour, producing electrical wiring devices, and Ben Weitsman & Son of Syracuse, LLC., a metal recycling center. The Solvay Process plant, by then owned by Allied Chemical and Dye Corporation, closed in 1985. The community has remained stable despite this loss.

The Anniston Defense Munitions Center (ADMC) located at Anniston Army Depot in Bynum, Alabama, is a multi-functional ammunition facility. The primary mission is receipt, storage, surveillance and shipment of missiles and conventional ammunition. The ADMC is the site of the Department of Army’s only Missile Recycling Center and is one of the Army’s premium ammunition storage sites because it is capable of storing some of the Army’s largest munitions.

Reconstruction in 2001 converted the structures from containers to buildings that today house apartments, offices, a shopping centre, and a cinema. The towers of the Gasometer have ranked next to the Zentralfriedhof as a landmark of the 11th district. The district also hosts other municipal infrastructure, including the EBS (special material recycling center), a sewage treatment facility that treats about 90% of the city's sewage, and also a juvenile detention center.

There is also a public library on Main Street, with a dentist and a panaderia (Mexican pastries and sweet bread) La Roca. There is a pharmacy and a medical clinic behind the post office. There are two laundromats in town and a recycling center in the Roy's Liquor parking lot. In 2011 the City of Houston opened a permanent electronics recycling center in Spring Branch.

Operations moved to the current location at 9th & N St. in the early 1980s. In 2002, ACRC began operation of the Eureka Community Recycling Center adjacent to the Humboldt Waste Management Authority's Transfer Station located in Eureka. In 1992, VEKA GmbH became a public limited company, with the Laumann family keeping their control over the company. In 1993, VEKA opened a 120,000 square meter recycling center.

ACUA provides recycling collection for the municipalities of Atlantic County, NJ. In 2009, ACUA implemented a single-stream recycling system, which allows residents to dispose of all recyclable materials in one container. ReCommunity Recycling operates the Materials Recovery Facility at the ACUA Recycling Center. Here, recyclables are sorted, baled and shipped to end market companies throughout the United States and internationally. ReCommunity and ACUA share in revenues derived from the sale of sorted materials.

The department is also responsible for collecting, storing and managing stormwater in order to keep excess stormwater from overflowing into the wastewater treatment system. The third is to collect and recycle biosolids into clean, beneficial soil-like compost. Biosolids are the solid materials left over from the wastewater treatment process, including plant material, human waste, food put down the garbage disposal and detergents. The Carondelet, Holly Hills, Boulevard Heights, and Bevo Mill neighborhoods surround the park, and the park is a focal point for the community. Among other features, the park contains two lakes that are stocked for fishing, tennis courts, softball, baseball and soccer fields. The park also has playgrounds, a recycling center (with mulch and compost), picnic areas, and a bicycle path. The Alexander Lyle house, a historic home dated around 1840, is located on the property.

This included building a massive bridge over PA 18, commenced in 2015, to connect both sides of the property without requiring an intersection along the route, as well as a Shell-funded rerouting of PA 18 and infrastructure improvements to I-376. Shell also gave a donation to the Beaver County recycling center so the center could extend its operating hours. Flood Brothers Disposal started operations with one truck and one employee, at 139 N. Clark St. in Chicago, Illinois. In 1963, the main center of operations moved to 5435 W. Chicago Ave. From 1970 to 1977, the company continued expansion and moved to several additional locations, eventually settling at 4827 W. Harrison St. in Chicago, where the company is presently based. In 1988, the company expanded to include a fully automated recycling center, and in 1990, became the first licensed special waste hauler in the Chicago community.

In 2004, the site was converted to a parking lot for the nearby Barry Bridge Park. By the 1980s, Chester was a city bereft of industry. Many bottom-rung projects were initiated in Chester, including the Westinghouse trash incinerator, a sewage treatment plant and a prison. Chester residents and politicians began pushing back against the placement of projects that increased concerns about pollution, noise and trucks such as a contaminated soil remediation facility, the trash incinerator, the DELCORA sewage waste treatment center and the Abbonizio recycling center.

The GreenHab is a greenhouse used for growing crops and plant research. The original Gary Fisher GreenHab, retrofitted in 2009 from a closed loop water recycling center to a functional greenhouse, was destroyed by fire in December 2014, and replaced in September 2015 after an Indiegogo campaign raised $12,540 to rebuild it. Originally the rebuilt GreenHab was planned as a geodesic dome. Frederick Cretzmeyer is credited with being the first European settler in Waverly. Having purchased in 1852, he built a log hut on the east side of the Cedar River (or what was once called the Red Cedar River). In 2014, Teruya was selected by the Berkeley Art Center to be the sole juror for the exhibition 'Feature'. Teruya curated shows for the Berkeley Art Center, Southern Exposure (art space), and the Kearny Street Workshop in San Francisco. In 2016, Teruya was an artist-in-residence at Recology, a residency program which provides artists with access to the San Francisco Solid Waste Transfer and Recycling Center. In response to this environment, he created Lessons Learned a sculptural installation made from recycled paper, office supplies, construction debris and other material from the city dump as part of his body of work, The Space Behind.

Recology Hay Road uses gas captured from the landfill to power an engine that converts it to electricity, producing 1.6 megawatts of electricity continuously, which is enough to power up to 1,600 homes. Just south of San Francisco, Recology brings solid and residential waste from Recology San Mateo County to the Shoreway Environmental Center, a large, multi-purpose recycling center and Materials Recovery Facility that is operated by South Bay Recycling, a joint venture between Recology and Potential Industries. In early 2009, after an investigation, the company obtained a court order against various organized illegal "poachers" who were raiding curbside recycling containers to sell the contents for scrap. As of 2015, the company employed approximately 3,000 employees, with revenues of approx $800 million.

The Garden, documentary film Tate was a member of the City of Los Angeles's Environmental Action Commission from 2002 until her death from complications of a stroke. There are plans for a school to be built named Juanita Tate Elementary School on land seized by the Los Angeles Unified School District from the Concerned Citizens of South Central LA. There is a retail shopping center named for Juanita Tate, The Juanita Tate Marketplace. Opened in April 2014 in Southern Los Angeles, the retail shopping center built on a brownfield that was formerly a scrap yard and recycling center, commemorates her contribution to the community while she was a CCSCLA member. In April 2015 the marketplace was sold to private investors.

If this restaurant is located in an area with great solar potential, it is likely that a hand dryer could encourage for more solar infrastructure by being an additional load. If it was incredibly far from a paper recycling center, and the potentially recycled material is likely to be downcycled, there would be further impetus to use a hand dryer. In addition to these considerations, the decider must choose how much they are willing to pay for the environment. In the case that has been built, if the hand dryer is to cost more, they must decide if he is willing to take responsibility by preventing the paper waste that would have been produced by buying the hand dryer and necessary energy.

The abandoned house that Mulder discovers was filmed at a historical landmark known locally as "Read House". The episode contained several scenes featuring elaborate explosives, such as the one featuring a missile destroying a shipping container, which was originally scheduled to be filmed at one of Vancouver's waterfront facilities. After the city rescinded permission to film, the special effects crew for The X-Files shipped as many containers as they could to a recycling center in the adjacent city of Burnaby; here, they were able to film the explosion "without a hitch". The destruction of the trailer was filmed adjacent to the Boundary Bay Airport, and afterwards, the series received several complaints from people living nearby complaining about the explosion and its resultant shockwave.

In 1990, the Port Authority announced its plans to sell or lease 159 acres in the area, including the 43.4-acre site of the Grain Terminal. The New York City Department of Sanitation and Staten Island Resources (a consortium of the Bechtel Group, the Solar International Trading Corporation and National Ecology Inc.) proposed using the site for a recycling center and, perhaps, using the former silos for storage or even composting, however a deal never went through. In 1997, John Quadrozzi Sr., president of Quadrozzi Concrete, purchased the site of the grain terminal and some surrounding 46 acres, incorporating it into the Gowanus Industrial Park. Quadrozzi had expressed interest in restoring it to commercial use, specifically concrete production and road salt storage.

When confronted, he further admits that, after seeing Ox nearly pass the training and realizing that an "Ugly" doll would be free while he himself never would be, he staged the whole "rescue" scenario out of sheer spite in hopes Ox would be killed in the recycling center. Having lost everyone's respect, a desperate and jealous Lou smashes the portal in a last- ditch effort to keep Uglies from the Big World. The Uglies and the robotic dog team up in an attempt to stop him, but the portal has been ruined, and Nolan puts Lou in the washing machine as a punishment for his actions. Encouraged by Moxy and Mandy, the Ugly Dolls and the Perfect Dolls unite to make a new, permanently open portal from the pieces of the old one.

As a part of 2009 Foxfield Races, the Foxfield Racing Association (FRA) has initiated a “Go Green” Program which encourages people attending the races to not use glass and to start recycling their cans. As a part of the “Go Green” program the FRA will now transport all trash from the races to a recycling center and not a landfill. Also another part of the program is that the FRA has provided large containers (supplied by the company Container Rentals) for attendees to put filled trash bags. This program is a reply to the complaints of many civilians and people of the amount of trash that is left behind or found after the Spring Foxfield race, and as a response to the cooler size change which will lead to a large increase in Styrofoam coolers.

On June 27, 2014, new vents opened on the northeast flank of the Puu Ōō cone that fed a narrow lava flow to the east-northeast. On August 18, the flow entered a ground crack, traveled underground for several days, then resurfaced to form a small lava pond. The sequence was repeated twice more over the following days with lava entering other cracks and reappearing farther downslope. In this way, the flow had advanced approximately 13.2 km (8.2 miles) from the vent, or to within 1.3 km (0.8 miles) of the eastern boundary of the Wao Kele o Puna Forest Reserve, by the afternoon of September 3. Advancing to the northeast at intermittent rates, the flow had entered the village of Pāhoa and was within 25 meters (27 yards) of the waste recycling center on October 31.

Explorers Crossing consists of a play veterinary clinic, recycling center and landfill, pizza kitchen, car repair shop, and more where children can learn, role play, and interact with hundreds of different pieces to learn more about associated topics within each setting. Oscar Boonshoft Science Central is an exhibit that contains a water table where children can learn about water and its properties, a manipulative area where children can learn about points, lines, and curves through rubber band art, a demonstrative laboratory, and several other interactive areas. Children in the Discovery Zoo exhibit ;Nesiur the Mummy: is an exhibit that contains a mummy donated to the museum from Egypt, and other African pieces. Mead Tree House is a fully enclosed tree house where children can learn about environmental preservation and use binoculars to do bird watching through windows within the tree house.

As the new Pearl Stable opened its doors, Engine #2 of the Texas Transportation Company returned from a complete restoration. Originally built in 1909 as lot #758 by the St. Louis-based St. Louis Car Company, Engine #2 served two Texas-based companies prior to coming to Pearl. Most of its career in use was at the Pearl Brewery after the Texas Transportation Company purchased the engine in 1948. Today, the engine's paint scheme is exactly the one used on the locomotive from the time it arrived at the brewery through the early 1970s. Restored at the country's premier locomotive and passenger car restoration service, the Trans-Texas Rail Shop, Engine #2 is immaculate and one of the few examples of electric locomotives on display. The Recycling Center, now known as the Can Recycle building, wrapped up construction in early December 2006.

In July 2009, the University completed construction of a $13.3 million recycling center, and hopes to double their 2008 recycling rate of 14% by 2010. The construction of Brody Hall, a residence hall of Michigan State University Housing, was completed in August 2011 and qualified for LEED Silver certification because the facility includes a rain water collection tank used for restroom fixtures, a white PVC roof, meters that will monitor utilities to make sure they are used efficiently, and the use of recycled matter and local sources for building materials. The Environmental Steward's program support's president Simon's "Boldness by Design" strategic vision to transform environmental stewardship on campus within the seven-year time frame. Environmental stewards promote environmental changes among co-workers and peers, be points of contact for their department for environment-related concerns, and be liaisons between the Be Spartan Green Team and buildings.

The road passes by some farmland aligned with a former section of what is today SC 905, then at a gas station encounters a street leading to that former segment called "Old Pireway Road." Beyond that point is an intersection leading to the Horry County Recycling Center, but the rest of the vicinity remains sparsely residential, until it passes Pineland Lake across from the other end of Old Pireway Road, gains the street name "Royal Tern Court," and approaches the Hickory Grove Community, where more mixed residential and commercial surroundings can be seen. After passing by Kingston Elementary School and Hickory Grove Baptist Church and Cemetery, the route has an intersection with a road named "Highway 19," not to be confused with South Carolina Highway 19. From that point, the road curves more east- northeast as it passes by more mixed residential and commercial development, then another former section of SC 905 named Shell Road can be seen on the south side of the road.

SR 52 westbound heading towards I-15 SR 52 begins just west of I-5 at the eastern end of La Jolla Parkway. Before entering San Clemente Canyon, the road becomes a freeway as it intersects I-5. The canyon is part of Marian Bear Natural Park. The freeway runs north of the Rose Canyon Fault, composed of Late Cretaceous rock estimated to be 90 million years old, and Mount Soledad. Following exits with Clairemont Mesa Boulevard / Regents Road and Genesee Avenue, SR 52 intersects I-805 before exiting the canyon and traveling along the southern edge of the MCAS Miramar military base. From I-805 to SR 163, the highway goes through an area with visible Pliocene sedimentary rocks estimated to be 10 million years old. After passing the Miramar Recycling Center and an interchange with Convoy Street, SR 52 intersects SR 163, a freeway heading towards downtown San Diego. SR 52 intersects Kearny Villa Road before an interchange with I-15.
