Bus recovery truck, converted and civil registered in 1970 Post-war, the Matador was found in civilian use as a recovery truck, a showman's vehicle, and general contractor use. It was also useful for forestry work because of its good off-road performance. When used as a bus fleet recovery truck, many were fitted with lifting jibs for suspended towing and re-bodied with semi-enclosed bodies, often based on bodywork from scrapped buses.

A recovery truck was out on circuit to recover the stranded car of Tarquini, Barth spun when trying to avoid it while Franz Engstler didn't see the vehicle around the corner at turn 12 and ran into the back of it. The safety car was deployed on lap The race resumed on the last lap, Monteiro passed Nash to take the final points position while Boardman and O'Young collided with Boardman going into the barriers. Bruni slowed with an electrical fault and then stopped on track at the Dunlop hairpin which led to the activation of the full course yellow procedure and his teammate Calado took over the lead of LMGTE Pro. Racing resumed five minutes later after Bruni's car was extracted from the circuit by a recovery truck but he managed to restart. Both Audis of Duval and Fässler sought to close up to Jani but their challenge was halted when they negotiated their way through slower traffic. Calado had a problem with his vehicle, allowing Christensen to the front of LMGTE Pro and Stanaway moved into second. After a few laps, Duval and Fässler drew close to Bernhard, while Kane moved past Oliver Webb for fifth in LMP2 and began putting pressure on Panciatici for fourth in class.

In the series' finale episode "The Parting of the Ways", when Rose becomes stranded at home at the Powell Estate, Mickey uses a recovery truck to crack open the TARDIS's console, through which Rose is able to absorb the time vortex and save the universe from an invasion of the hateful mutant alien Daleks. Having investigated a case of possible alien activity on Earth, Mickey alerts the Doctor and Rose to strange goings on at a school run by Headmaster Lucas Finch (Anthony Head) in "School Reunion". On meeting the Doctor's former companions, investigative journalist Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen) and robot dog K-9, Mickey begins to see himself negatively as the K-9 to Rose's Sarah Jane: "the tin dog". In the episode's conclusion, the Doctor finally takes Mickey aboard as his companion.

The computer software can provide scripting, prompts or interactive questioning to assist the call handler in gathering information. The museum is also notable for other elements of the former Brisbane system in its collection.
