The player must survive countless perils whilst exploring the valley, investigating the causes of the powers that have gripped the land and ultimately putting a stop to them.

Pursuing NEVEC's field commander Isenberg, Jim ruins his plan to take control of the Akrid and use them to wipe out the rebels and so NEVEC are not able to mine the living planet of pure energy and save earth, putting a stop to Isenberg's plan by killing him but nearly dying himself.

The bullying eventually comes to a head when Hina's homeroom teacher has a breakdown over the bullying, drawing the rest of the school's attention to the bullying and finally putting a stop to it. Rei apologizes for being ultimately unable to help Hina, but Hina insists that simply being on her side and listening to her was enough and thanks him.

On the way, Dingo leads them to a hut, out of which a tree is marked with the letters SV (the same on Dingo's collar), a corpse and a box with a small letter that reveals the corpse as Samuel Vernon, a French explorer who was betrayed and murdered by his guide, Negoro (which explains why Dingo constantly growled at the cook).
