Prossy Tusabe is a Ugandan swimmer. Her home was bombed when she was a baby, resulting in the deaths of her father and brothers, and in her legs being maimed. Gently disparaging the play itself, Brooks Atkinson wrote that Cornell is "Our Queen of tragedy, a thoughtful actress and a great one." Alternating with Victory, Cornell revived Candida with Mildred Natwick as Prossy. After their conclusion, she took a year off and wrote her memoir (with the help of Ruth Woodbury Sedgewick) entitled I Wanted to Be an Actress. It was published by Random House in 1939.

Pallaso was born on September 5th, 1987 at Mulago Hospital to Mr. Gerald Mayanja and Ms. Prossy Mayanja. He is one of seven children born to the couple. The family spent most of their early years in Kawempe, a Kampala suburb. Pallaso comes from a musical family with three of his brothers (Chameleon,Weasel and the late AK47 Mayanja) running reputable musical careers in Uganda.

Abotsi's overall score of 142 was over a hundred points lower than the winning score of 246 by Kazakh athlete Maiya Maneza. However, her appearance at the Championships meant that she broke the record for the youngest competitor. She represented Ghana at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India. Competing in the class, she finished in ninth place in the final with a total score of 169 points, ahead of Prossy Irene Nyanga of Uganda.

Kalema received more international attention for her role in Freedom. Kalema and the rest of the cast staged Freedom at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland and the Bernie Grant Arts Centre in London in August 2017. Kalema had also written the script for the film but lost her writing credits on promotional posters, DVD and theater release even after pleading with the producers to get her credits. In 2016, Kalema played Prossy in Jinxed, Lee Krassner in Ugandan Pallock and Diana in The Only Son.

George Bernard Shaw was a family friend of Craig's, he wrote several roles specifically for her. In Bernard Shaw's play Candida, it is believed that the role of Prossy was created for Craig, who originally played the role. Craig also acted in plays by George Bernard Shaw and Henrik Ibsen, toured with Mrs Brown-Potter and the Independent Theatre. In 1899, Irving employed her to make the costumes for his production of Robespierre, which led to her going into business as a dressmaker as Edith Craig & Co in Covent Garden until 1903.

In 2009, Writers Theatre presented a musical adaptation of the play under the title A Minister's Wife, with music by Josh Schmidt; lyrics by Jan Tranen; book by Austin Pendleton; conceived and directed by Artistic Director Michael Halberstam. The production was critically acclaimed and in 2011, the Lincoln Center mounted a new production of the piece (also directed by Halberstam). The production featured Kate Fry as Candida; Bobby Steggert as Marchbanks; Marc Kudisch as Morell; Liz Baltes as Prossy; and Drew Gehling as Lexy. The production received outstanding notices in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
